Sunset Cafe Ramon Monegal

How many niche fragrance houses can tout a 100 years of composing fine perfumery? Spanish Perfumer Ramon Monegal is the 4th generation of the Monegal family, founders of Myrurgia (Maja being one of the most famous perfumes of all time). He worked for various companies before starting his eponymous brand in 2007 and releasing his first perfumes in 2009. Senor Monegal is inspired by the beauty of his native country, using ingredients to tell scented stories of terroir and his own experiences. Each is composed of ingredients that Ramon Monegal uses like words, which is reflected in distinctive bottle that look like an old-fashioned inkwell.

  • Ross Anderson says:

Sounds very exotic. Can’t wait to try this. Coffee fragrances, if don’t right, pull major compliments. Interested to smell the coffee/seaweed/strawberry notes together.

  • Steven’s review was good as usual, he made it sound like a good long lasting summer fragrances that cam work in the autumn. Michelyn’s introduction made a great job describing #Sunset Cafe.

  • I enjoyed how Steven described the fragrance as having a lactonic effect, like having your coffee with milk most likely attributed to the coconut note. I enjoyed how Michelyn’s introduction created a visual experience of how Ramon Monegal’s Sunset Café transports you to the beaches of Ibiza. Sounds like a serene relaxing vacation to an island getaway in a bottle. I never tried any Ramon Monegal fragrances, although this one does peak my interest. Thank you for the opportunity. Followed on Instagram. Handle is Frankieg74. From New York, USA.

  • PerfumesforLife says:

Michelyn’s introduction set the stage for me to hear Steven’s review because I am a fan of the image (coffee on the beach). Steven explained it had coconut+coffee along with strawberry mixed with marine notes anchored with oakmoss and amberwood. It’s summed up as salty lactonic coffee on a clean base. I love to try it.

  • Ramses Perez says:

Ramón Monegal has been on my radar for a while and I hope to win this bottle. Now a coffee based fragrance? I would have thought it would be more marine/oceanic as the bottle is very blue but this one sounds interesting. Steven mentioned it being lactonic and I do love this type of fragrances. Strawberry on a fragrance is the first time I see this. I was in Ibiza this past summer and if it does remind you of it, I’d hope to relive that moment, Michelyn. Cheers from NJ, USA.

  • I would love to win Sunset Café. I loved how Michelyn described how this amazing house full of history came to be, I was also amazed how much effort was put into Steven’s review, he described every important nuance of this fragrance, it was very much helpful for me and for a lot of people, because choosing a fragrance in this transitioning period of the year may be tricky. I live in Trzebnica, Poland, EU. My Insta name: @insztagramekphoto

I never tried the house so I don’t have a favorite but Sunset Café is just so perfect for this season and others also. I probably mentioned this before but I’m a gigantic coffee fan too.

  • Karen Ruano says:

Both the review and the intro were amazing! It really made me want to smell the fragrance so badly! I live in NJ and I follow on Instagram under the handle karendoesperfume

  • Ramon Monegal is a well respected perfumer in Spain, and Sunset Café is a good example.

The audacity to use coffee on this composition, it’s very unique.
I know Ramon Monegal’s work from some of the Adolfo Domínguez fragrances.

He is talented, and I would like to experience this fragrance.

  • I loved the description of a sunset on the beach with coffee and strawberries. I do enjoy Ramon Monegal fragrances. One of my favs is Flamenco. Steven mentioned saltiness and coconut which sounds delicious. Mich USA @mary_luvs_flwrs

  • I’ve heard so much hype about this but haven’t tried it. I like the picture Michelyn painted of sipping coffee by the Mediterranean. I love truly transportive fragrances. I’m also keen to experience the fruity flirtatiousness that Steven talked about. It sounds like a really unique and playful scent. Best of luck to everyone.I live in NC, USA. Hello from Florida, and thank you to Michelyn for the review!

Strawberry and coffee is a note combination I’ve never smelled before! It sounds delicious and refreshing, and I’d love to give it a try.

  • Ramon Monegal Sunset cafe sounds amazing
Steven loved it and michelyn did a nice job of writing about it especially about the 4 generations of perfumers in his family. Coffees are my faves
    I own ocean oud.

  • I just watched Steven’s and I think as usual he did a good job capturing the idea behind the fragrance and giving his viewer and a sense of what it smells like. Michelyn’s article was also a good read read for me touching on the key notes and comparing them to real world similarities. I have #lasislablanca by this house and I enjoy it a lot. I would also like to win and try #sunsetcafe based on this interesting reviews.

Steven’s review beautifully captures the essence of Ramon Monegal Sunset Café, while Michelyn’s introduction sets the scene perfectly, making me feel like I’m on the beaches of Ibiza. Together, they provide a comprehensive and enticing description of the fragrance. And I like the coffee notein an unusual combination with seaweed.

I follow you on Instagram as well and my nickname is cousinlebleu.

  • Michelyn says Ramon comes from a family with long roots in perfumery, being the founders of Myrurgia. Steven says the fragrance goes for coffee and seaweed duality and also uses ambroxan as a fixative to make the scent longlasting. I am in US.

  • James Jorgensen says:

I have family in Spain, and as you described the fragrance I was taken back to my time I spent there. I sounds so enticing and I love how well you go into detail about the fragrance and the emotions that it draws out of you. Thank you

Every hypnotic sunset seen from the Café del Mar gives birth to a unique and relaxing moment. Velvety vanilla amber, on a seabed of Mediterranean seaweed combined in a foamy sea on a beach of golden sand.

  • Love the coffee strawberry and sea vibes. “Imagine sipping a hot cup of coffee and eating from a plate of fresh strawberries by the Mediterranean sea at sundown.” Really want to try this house. Michelyn’s introduction is written greatly, as always, i can feel the scent and Steven gives a lot of details. I’m from eu

  • Zoran Loncarevic says:

The scent sounds super delicious. Coffee and coconut sounds very cool and hits my taste buds. Many greetings from Germany.

  • Coffee, Coconut, Jasmine… Oh, this must be good! I can absolutely imagine sipping a hot cup of coffee and eating from a plate of fresh strawberries by the Mediterranean sea at sundown, just like Michelyn described it. Steven says it’s tropical, exotic, floral, salty, fruity, woodsy – so complex, I love it!

  • I’m intrigued by the concept of a salty coffee fragrance. At first Sunset Cafe sounded a bit disconnected; it was hard to envision how the notes could go together. Steven’s review made the composition make sense in my mind. Additionally, Michelyn’s description painted a pictured that helped me to better appreciate the notes.

    ~Indiana

  • Such a strange and interesting combination of notes in this one. Strawberry, coffee, and seaweed definitely is not a combination I would have come up with even in my wildest dreams. Though Steven’s description of it makes it makes it seems a lot more versatile describing it as a salty coffee with milk. NYC

  • I was reminded from the opening Mr. Monegal is a fourth generation perfumer. The video mentioned the lactonic aspect of the opening along with the salt. I think I’d like that. I don’t have a favorite from the house. US

  • perusegenesis says:

Hello! Thank you for this giveaway! I had no idea the Monegal family had such an history (I’m a newbie fraghead), only tried Flamenco till now. It seems really unique and like a shot of holiday in a bottle. I’m an introvert like Steven mentioned, so it would suit my casual vibes, haha. 🙂
I also follow you on instagram @perusegenesis

  • I really liked both reviews. Steven’s review really made me interested in owning one. Maybe it’s because of how he described the notes and the fact that coffee notes are a favourite for me. Michelyn’s review brought the romantic side of it. I pictured wearing the Sunset Cafe out on the beach with my wife.

I would love the Sunset Cafe. I live in the UK and my Instagram name is @mansa_seyi

  • Steven assuaged my fear if the salt element when he called this “magical”. I like that Michelyn set the table with a bit of history on Ramon Monegal, unknown too me but sounds passionate about goes craft. The surprise: strawberries! I have a few strawberry perfumes but they seem to skew a bit girly/young and, well, not there anymore. I’d love to smell this on me and my sons to see who hits the homerun. I live in NY.

  • I always respect others opinions, ever since I wad a little kid, but unlike Steven and Michelyn I don’t believe #CaféDelMar is a relaxing fragrance. No doubt people perceive fragrances in a different ways, still I’ll explain myself.
I’ve spent a few years of my life living in Spain. I had the pleasure of visiting Ramon Monegal boutique at Carrer de Calvet in Barcelona .
The lady , who did a wonderful job presenting as much as possible fragrances, explained to me how the whole Ibiza collection was made because of Ramon Monegal previous experience, and obsession with Ibiza.
#CaféDelMar particularly shows the atmosphere of the legendary Beach Club ‘Café del Mar’ in the bay Cala des Moro on Ibiza. She told me Ramon Monegal idea was to show the last warm rays of the setting , and the sea at our feet.A hot day on the beach is coming to an end , and the clubbing is starting all over again.
#CaféDelMar is leaning young, Mediterranean marine clubbing fragrance, that’s both sweet, tart , salty and rose like. That’s not just my opinion, but the way the fragrance was presented to me at the Ramon Monegal boutique in Barcelona .
Cherry Musk , #CaféDelMar and Flamenco are my favorite Ramon Monegal fragrances
    Overly exciting giveaway, USA
    Regards

  • This is quite an interesting composition of notes. I love anything that has coffee in it. I’m so intrigued by the inclusion of that strawberry note! I’ve never tried any fragrances from this perfume house, so I’d love to get my hands on this bottle!
    I live in the USA.

  • I found Steven’s description of the fragrance intriguing, likening it to a creamy, coffee-with-milk experience, likely due to the prominent coconut note. Michelyn’s introduction, on the other hand, beautifully painted a picture of how Ramon Monegal’s Sunset Café can transport you to the tranquil beaches of Ibiza. It seems like a serene and relaxing vacation encapsulated in a bottle. New Jersey, USA

  • I am such a sucker for coffee fragrances, and the idea of lounging on the beach sipping coffee and nibbling strawberries sounds like such a dream! Michelyn’s review really pulled me in, and then Stephen’s review letting you know the perfume is any season and nice and casual sounds promising.

  • IvanVelikov says:

Michelyn and Steven joyful co-review of Sunset Cafe almost transported me to Ibiza in a warm Summer day.
The brand’s heritage and Mediterranean essence blend perfectly to create a fragrance that embodies freedom and calmness. I saw myself dressed up on the Mediterranean coastline , with a cup of ristretto in my hand, and chatting with Ramon Monegal with on the table shown on the 2nd picture.
Carolina Blue suit, white shirt shirt, no tie , and loafers is the outfit suited for Sunset Cafe .The fragrance i believe is long lasting, relaxing and inviting at the same time.
If I’m not mistaken it was last Summer when I’ve smelled Olé on a client at the tailor store, my first Ramon Monegal experience , it smelled so grand on him . I sampled the fragrance first , and now i can say Olé with a bottle of my own
Thank you Michelyn, Steven, Ramon Monegal

  • Steven’s descriptions leaves me longing to try such a unique coffee scent with coconut, strawberries and seaweed?! Hoping to try it out. In maryland.

  • I would love to be transported to the beaches of Ibiza. Sunset Cafe has an interesting triumvirate of head notes; coffee. coconut and seaweed which covers the beach cafe vibe. The fruits and florals over musk, wood and oakmoss sound like a lovely late summer scent and a long lasting one as per Steven’s review. I’m in the US

  • With such renowned family tree, I can’t even imagine the level of pressure Ramon Monegal was facing ever since he was a kid , but he lived to expectations.
All his fragrances I’ve smelled up until now are provocative, powerful , and almost bohemian , Sunset Café sounds awesome.
It seems like it’s serene vacation type of fragrance with top performance, I’m intrigued.
Steven and Michelyn made me believe through Sunset Café I’ll be able to hear the song of the sea whereas laying on the hammock , with a cup of coffee and a bowl of strawberries .
One of my favorite fragrances is Impossible Iris – Ramon Monegal , modern and cozy fruity-floral.
    Thanks for the draw

  • Sunset Cafe sounds so unique! I love coffee perfumes and I also love marine / ozonic ones, but I believe I have never seen the two worlds paired together! It truly sounds like an artistic offering and I would love to experience it. I am also getting to like coconut more and more in perfumery, and I would especially like to smell it in smaller, “fresher”, more wearable doses.
I have also gotten to sample more from Ramon Monegal lately and I really fell in love with Kiss my name and Cherry musk.

Thank you for introducing me to this fragrance it sounds wonderful!

I like that Steven as always gives such detailed thoughts on the fragrance. Some of the things he mentioned that really got my attention was he described it a unique and summed it up as a salty, coffee based, slightly laconic fragrance with a clean heart and base and long lasting appeal that he plans to wear alot in the autumn. So I am very excited to try this as it seems perfect for the current weather and the coffee and strawberry notes are very intriguing to me.

For Michelyn’s introduction i appreciate the back ground on this perfume house/ perfumer as I haven’t tried anything by them before. It is interesting to me to know this fragrance house has been creating perfumes for q00 years and Ramon Monegal is the 4th generation of the family founderd of myrurgia. Also i resonate with in general being inspired by nature like the perfumer so this makes me more inclined to seek out and explore his perfumes!

Thank you to Ramon Monegal and Cafleurebon for this giveaway. I haven’t had a chance to try this house yet. I live in North Carolina USA

  • I know most Ramon Monegal fragrances, and I’m aware he grew up is a family of renowned perfumers .
It’s always nice to see someone grinding his way up ,and not settling into a some kind of management position in one of those billion dollar mega corporations. After all each person who has the entrepreneur DNA, at one point should start his own business.
Sunset Cafe smells addictive, it’s sweet and tart , juicy fresh with coffee and lavender. It’s party like but so relaxing all at the same time. Surprisingly I don’t see lavender in the official notes, neither Michelyn or Steven mentioned lavender too , but on my skin lavender is easily detectable. It’s still rather warm, perfect weather for a fragrance like Sunset Cafe .
There’s a lot of Ramon Monegal fragrances I love , depending on my mood , in no particular order Flamenco , Next to Me , Olé , Faisa,Soul of Oud , Sunset Cafe and Bravo

  • Those inkwell bottles are so cool! Packaging is the least important factor of a fragrance, but it’s a wonderful bonus. Michelyn’s introduction to Sunset Café really puts you right in it—briny seaside breeze perfumed by nearby flowers, the sound of waves on rock, and a warm mug steaming in your hands. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this particular combination of gourmand notes and aquatic outdoorsy textures; I’m curious how they combine. Like Stephen said, “interesting composition,” with a complex array of notes and a “coffee and seaweed duality.” The salty lactonic qualities and strawberry are a natural fit, and I really enjoy how jasmine mixes with berry notes. Great review!

  • Oh boy, Steven always makes fantastic reviews.
Ramon Monegal is surely an amazing fragrance house that never dissapoints me.
Sunset Cafe is a fragrance that I didn’t know I needed. I love coffee based fragrance and this lactonic coffee fragrance is something I really need to try.
The coconut, the amberwood and strawberry make this one perfect and I am surely going to try this one
I hope I win this giveaway.

  • Firstly, thank you for introducing this unique fragrance. Michelyn’s introduction paved the way for me to listen to Steven’s review, and I was captivated by the imagery she painted, invoking the sensation of sipping coffee on the beach. Michelyn’s words transported me to the shores of Ibiza, offering the promise of a tranquil and rejuvenating island escape captured in a bottle. Then, I was enthralled by Steven’s description of the fragrance, particularly the mention of its lactonic effect, akin to enjoying coffee with a hint of milk, likely stemming from the coconut note. Despite never having experienced any Ramon Monegal fragrances before, this one has certainly piqued my curiosity. Best of luck to everyone. Regards from Florida, USA.

I loved Steven’s review and Michelyn’s introduction of Ramon Monegal’s Sunset Cafe. I have always been a fan of Ramon Monegal with their unique, high quality offerings and beautiful bottle designs. Steven has once again went into extensive detail describing this beautiful fragrance adorned with a unique combination of note from coffee to seaweed to coconut and strawberry. The combination of the notes sounds daring, to me, at least. Impressive background and experience allow señor Monegal to create amazing olfactory voyages.

  • It’s such an honor, and in my opinion a privilege to follow up the path of your life, while stepping on the renowned Spanish Monegal foundation , great job Ramon Monegal.
Michelyn introduction, and Steven take on Sunset Café made me think of my awesome recent years Summer vacation in Valencia, sitting on the beach with my girlfriend, drinking coffee, and eating Coconut Tarts with Fresh Strawberries on top , such a comforting fragrance. I need to visit Spain soon too.
The only Ramon Monegal i know is Bravo, I had a small decant at first , and a full bottle now .In my Pastry Chef mind it smells like Chocolate Ganache Cake with Cassis, freshly squeezed apricot juice , and suede leather.
Appreciate both the introduction, the review, and the giveaway campaign

  • I’ve smelled a few Ramon Monegal fragrances , and I have to say Cherry Musk , and Impossible Iris are both impressive, still I prefer Flamenco, jammy sweet , almost gourmand I own, with over 10 hours of lasting power. My first bottle i bought from Luckyscent, and at the beginning of the Summer my second one from Essenza Nobile , the premiere German niche and indie boutique.
Sunset Café sounds cozy and serene ,fragrance you wear when when you go on a walk on a beach shore to clear your mind, drink a good espresso , and why not even a bowl of strawberries? The combination of coffee, rose , strawberries and the salty feel i find intriguing.
    Thanks a lot

I always liked Ramon Monegal lifestyle story , his path, and the way he build his own brand well , by building on heritage, love for is home country, and also his own vision of the world.
Sunset Cafe is a representation of Spanish traditions fragrance , there’s a party like elements of course with added 2023 peaceful personality.

    Thanks for the review Steven.

The presentation of this fragrance is phenomenal.

I love coffee based scents but the coffee note is always something that is fleeting, because of the nature of the EO. THe saltiness in this frargrance is really quite interesting, paired with the lactonic. The movement into fruitiness and florals makes this fragrance pop. I really like that the musks pair well with the jasmine.

    Beautiful fragrance.
