Ramon Monegal Fäisa Review

Details of “Celestial Sun” Accent Tile by Dan Morris ©. Reset and re-colored by Gail

The Sun, adored as a deity with supernatural powers in many great cultures. Source of life, symbol of happiness that emits the light that illuminates us. I have taken up the challenge of creating an olfactory image of a burst of sunlight from which creative energy flows…Where there is sun, there is life and where there is life, there is joy!” – Ramon Monegal

Ramon Monegal Fäisa review

Ramon Monegal Fäisa. Bottle photo by Gail Gross ©

The essences are each a separate glass

Through which the sun of being’s light is passed.

Each tinted fragment sparkles in the sun

A thousand colors but the light is one.” – Jami, 15th century

The essences, notes and accords used to create Ramon Monegal Fäisa remind me of crackling, dry summer days, bright flower filled meadows, wide pastures and waves of energizing heat reflecting off glittering strands.  Light upon light – healing rays are absorbed into flowers and resins, released, distilled and fashioned into perfume.

Fäisa dawns as a mélange of saffron, lemon and sandalwood, an almost metallic, tart glitter that suffuses the wearer (and those within at least six feet) with a sunny, reassuring luminescence. The fragrance rises and diffuses into an easy wearing, balanced oud laced with Ylang-Ylang. Anise melds with mimosa creating a powdery aura, bordering on the medicinal, blooming into a noontide of roses, raspberries and jasmine. The sillage remains as spectacular as the sun, waxing even warmer as Fäisa matures into an afternoon of golden amber, vanilla and mimosa.

The heart of Ramon Monegal Fäisa is as long lived and as brilliant as a mid-summer’s day, settling at last into a fragrant sunset of caramel, tonka and rays of honeyed mimosa. When Old Sol rises again, the scent of Fäisa is there to greet me, lingering close to my skin and clinging sweetly to yesterday’s clothing.

Notes:  Lemon, saffron, anise, cinnamon, ylang-ylang, mimosa, jasmine, rose, raspberry, oud, amber, vanilla, tonka, caramel and sandalwood.

Disclaimer:  I would like to thank Eden Square (Europerfumes) the U.S. Distributor of Ramon Monegal for my cherished bottle of Fäisa Pure Joy.  My opinions are my own.

  • Love how poetically both Gail and Monegal described the fragrance in terms of symbolism to the sun. In my own culture, I can also appreciate the symbolic importance of the sun. My favorite perfume from this line is Umbra. From the USA

  • Love an easy wearing and long lasting fragrance. Thank you for this opportunity. IL, USA.

  • Gail’s review of Ramon Monegal Fäisa was very informative and interesting. I really enjoyed hearing about the beautiful notes that went into this amazing sounding fragrance. She really knows her stuff when it comes to describing fragrances. I’ve never tried anything from this house before but I’d love to. Thanks for the great review and the great giveaway. Commenting from Kentucky USA.

  • Gail’s description definitely sends a bright shaft of dazzling sunlight into my living room. During these trying times, this sunny, joyful and radiant fragrance is exactly what we need. My favorite RM scent is probably Entre Naranjos. Based in the US.

“…an uplifting and optimistic antidote to our present-day 2020 gloom” is exactly what I could use right now.

My favorite Ramon Monegal scent is Dry Wood.

  • Love Gail’s description of Ramon Monegal as having the radiance of the Spanish sun. That, plus a long-lived heart and a fragrant sunset of caramel, tonka and rays of honeyed mimosa, make this super intriguing. Have not tried Ramon Montegal perfume yet, thanks for introducing me to this brand. I live in the USA.

  • Trinity33 says:

The introductory notes of lemon, saffron, anise and cinnamon are really intriguing. i can tell this is going to be a bright warm scent. Mimosa, amber and vanilla are also notes I associate with hot, sunny days. The bottle looks like a precious jewel reflecting rays of light. The whole thing makes me happy! Favorite Monegal scent is Impossible Iris. Commenting from MD, USA.

  • Bryant Worley says:

I really enjoyed Gail’s poetic descriptiveness of the fragrance –

“Fäisa dawns as a mélange of saffron, lemon and sandalwood, an almost metallic, tart glitter that suffuses the wearer (and those within at least six feet) with a sunny, reassuring luminescence”

“The essences, notes and accords used to create Ramon Monegal Fäisa reminds me of crackling, dry summer days, bright flower filled meadows, wide pastures and waves of energizing heat reflecting off glittering strands”

“The heart of Ramon Monegal Fäisa is as long lived and as brilliant as a mid-summer’s day, settling at last into a fragrant sunset of caramel, tonka and rays of honeyed mimosa”

I have not had the privilege of experiencing Ramon Monegal’s fragrances, but from YouTube reviews, the one I’d like to try is Flamenco.

I live in Waldorf, MD, USA.

  • The thought provided of “pouring the sun into the bottles” makes this sound so comforting and reassuring during the times were in! I have never tried RM but would love the opportunity – excellent piece!
    Thanks from NY, USA

  • An easy-wearing, balanced oud scent laced with Ylang-Ylang – sounds amazing to me! Hope I get the chance to discover more about the house as I haven’t tried anything from them.

    Florida, USA

  • Love Ramon Monegal’s fragrances. On my wishlist it goes! One of my favs is Kiss my Name. I like the notes in Faīsa, especially the Lemon, saffron, anise, cinnamon, raspberry, oud, & caramel! Thanks for the opportunity to sniff! Mich USA

I liked this about Gail’s review of Ramon Monegal Fäisa; Fäisa dawns as a mélange of saffron, lemon and sandalwood, an almost metallic, tart glitter that suffuses the wearer (and those within at least six feet) with a sunny, reassuring luminescence.” I do not have a favorite Ramon Monegal, yet.

  • Gail feels Ramon Monegal Fäisa is an appropriate tribute to Spanish sunny days. It has fresh elements with both floral and woody nuances. My favorite from Ramon Monegal is Impossible Iris. USA

  • I love her passion and poetry in describing the fragrance. My favorite right now is Flamenco.

  • I would be excited to get this one. Citrus, saffron and dont think i have ever experienced honeyed mimosa My favorite right now is Ole

  • Enjoyed the cheerful description of Faisa the perfume. Ylang ylang, Jasmine, rose, Oud, Amber – what a delightful mix of notes, blended together by Ramon Monegal to create a cheery, sunny perfume, that we can all use in these gloomy times. Unfortunately I haven’t tried his perfumes, yet. Thanks Gail for the review and Eden Square for the generous draw. Writing from the USA.

Faisa Pure Joy! I think it can be divine new 2020 fragragrance of Ramon Monegal because I like combination in this creation with
notes of lemon, saffron, anise, cinnamon, ylang-ylang, mimosa, jasmine, rose, raspberry, oud, amber, vanilla, tonka, caramel and sandalwood. Lovely as always review by Gail Gross, thank you for giving lots of love to the Faisa and to the readers, we appreciate it! I love Ramon Monegal attractive bottles or, better to say faceted inkwell flacon! In this case very special flacon with amazing golden juice from Sun. I also tried Ramon Monegal Flamenco and I like it! Thank you for this opportunity to try Faisa Pure Joy!
    I live in sunny Florida

  • patrick_348 says:

I liked how Gail tried to capture the feeling the perfume gives of the joy of sunlight, the way she connected the sunlight to the creation of flowers and resins, and the indirect way at the end that she praised the scent’s longevity. It sounds like the perfect summer fragrance when you want something other than a citrus bomb. I haven’t tried any Monegal fragrances, but the picture of him is cool!

  • ThatMulattoDude says:

Gail paints the picture of this fragrance to give energy like the sun. Given advances in science, we know better than to worship it yet it is important, especially during these times. As a mood enhancer while we’re all hunkered down to some extent…I would like to experience this fragrance providing this same feeling. Appreciate the opportunity for the giveaway. Best from Virginia, USA!

  • Shamrock1313 says:

Terrific description by Gail. Bright, sunny and long lasting is right in my frag wheelhouse. Sounds amazing!
    Pennsylvania USA

  • “Anise melds with mimosa creating a powdery aura, bordering on the medicinal, blooming into a noontide of roses, raspberries and jasmine”.
My favorite from the house is Cherry Musk. US

  • Haven’t smelled anything from the brand, but Faisa would be a superb introduction. Oud laced with ylang sound intriguing, especially with the addition of raspberries and florals. The imagery of dawn-to-dusk seems to emphasize the fullness of its character, waning into a gentle and sweet aroma in the base. And what stunning packaging!! I can almost feel myself being rejuvenated by the golden rays, perhaps even flying into the sun itself to be welcomed home after another stint in bodily form. Deep. USA

  • abbie road says:

I love how this fragrance starts bright like the sun and dies down to a seductive sweet scent. It sounds so beautiful. I don’t have a favorite Ramon Monegal perfume so this could be my new favorite. I live in the USA

  • I loved the way Gail describes this fragrance”The fragrance rises and diffuses into an easy wearing, balanced oud laced with Ylang-Ylang. Anise melds with mimosa creating a powdery aura, bordering on the medicinal, blooming into a noontide of roses, raspberries and jasmine. The sillage remains as spectacular as the sun, waxing even warmer as Fäisa matures into an afternoon of golden amber, vanilla and mimosa.” I have not tried any of Ramon Monegal fragrances. I would love to. USA

  • .”..an olfactory image of a burst of sunlight…Where there is sun,…there is joy!” The above is what Ramon Monegal wanted to create and according to Gail G he succeeded. A perfume of sunshine and joy sounds wonderful! I have not tried enough Ramon Monegal’s perfumes to have a favorite, but I do like Kiss My Name. USA.

  • oh, this sounds lovely, especially for gray Seattle days. i don’t have a favorite Ramon Monegal, but there are many i would love to try. I especially liked the images that were included in the review, they aligned with the image of sun and light in a wonderful way. Thank you for the review and the draw! in the US.

  • chrisskins says:

I especially like the poem by Jami about light and the gorgeous product photo by Gail Gross. Faisa sounds beautiful from lemon to amber. I love the concept and would love to experience this perfume. I do not have any Ramon Monegal perfumes, yet. I live in the USA.

  • Elizabeth T. says:

Thank you for this generous draw! I really like the first photo with Ramon’s arm glowing – the perfect photo for Faisa. It’s a good depiction… with the notes along, I’m having trouble imagining what this smells like, so the picture really helps. It sounds glowing with the sandalwood, lemon and ylang. I’m in the USA. Thank you!

  • Nancy Austin says:

Gail’s description of Faisa conveys such a vivid picture of what it must be like to wear it! Her references honor the sun!
I would treasure the gift bottle! I live in Massachusetts!

  • “Light upon light – healing rays are absorbed into flowers and resins, released, distilled, and fashioned into perfume.” That sounds so magical. I really like Alhambra Oud by Ramon Monegal. USA.

  • Jake Dauod says:

I have never tried a Ramon Monegal perfume, but this review has really made me want to get my nose on this fragrance. I love what Ramon Monegal set out to do with this fragrance and the ingredients he used to accomplish his goal. I love that the fragrance includes saffron because I adore the scent and can picture it complimenting the lemon on the top. Kind regards from Illinois, USA.

  • NiceVULady says:

Gail’s description of Faisa sounds absolutely wonderful. Anything that starts off with lemon and saffron must be amazing. I can’t wait to try it. Many thanks to Gail for a fabulous review and to Eden Square for a great draw. I’m in the USA

  • Wow this perfume sounds wonderful to me. The description and tying it back to the sun in different ways was interesting. The notes sound amazing as well. I havent tried any Ramon Monegal fragrances yet but this sounds like a great one to start with, and there are quite a few I’ve been wanting to try such as Cherry Musk, Impossible Iris, Ole, Entre Naranjos, Flamenco and now Faisa. I live in the U.S. and am very grateful for the chance to win this amazing fragrance.

  • Shannon Gaines says:

Greetings from Lexington, Kentucky USA! I have never tried Roman Monegal fragrances before so I don’t have a favorite. I am looking forward to the opportunity to test out this fragrance. I love how the review likened the fragrance to sun glittering off of a flower-filled meadows. I also enjoy all the notes mentioned in the review so this fragrance sounds right up my alley. I also really like the painting that was chosen to represent this fragrance. I have never seen that painting before. I am sure the fragrance is as lovely as the painting based on the description.

  • doveskylark says:

I remember spending a month in Madrid, in August. The sun was so powerful, so healing, so sparkling bright, even at 8pm. I felt dazzlingly alive. Gail’s review brought those memories back to me.
I haven’t tried anything from this house, but I want to try Fäisa and also Mon Cuir.
    I live in the USA.

  • I very much enjoyed the lyrical poetry of the review, and the idea of being suffused with a sunny reassuring luminescence. I have never to my knowledge tried a Ramon Monegal perfume.

  • IvanVelikov says:

There’s something really nostalgic in this review , good old days in the 90’s …. no cellphones , expensive hotels , luxury restaurants – i miss those days . Simple life
At the same time it’s nice to see Fäisa clicks with Gail in a really nice way. Iris and vanilla i love , and i wonder how well is blended with the white flowers , cedar and the raspberry .
Never had a chance to smell Ramon Monegal fragrances.
Beautiful giveaway – thanks a lot.

Fäisa sounds wonderful , full of life , like a slice of cake made of thin Langues de Chat (FRENCH CAT TONGUE COOKIES)
and whipped cream souffle with lemon caramel Pastry Chef in the house.
I happen to have one Ramon Monegal bottle called Bravo. Got it 99% full from a neighbor. Unwanted gift…
Smells like a hookah to me. A gem no doubt , but also a proof you should not buy fragrances for someone else, without even asking him/her , or even know his/her taste.
Appreciate the review, and the giveaway campaign

  • Bubeto_GG says:

Such a fun summer gourmand . Raspberries could give Faisa a twist if prominent on me , I hope so .
To me the best Ramon Monegal fragrance is called Mon Patchouly. Top quality creamy floriental i only wear on special occasions .
    Cheers from VA

  • Hashim Madani says:

Don’t have a favorite Monegal yet I’m very keen on trying Faisa for its wonderful sounding caramel-tonka marriage. VA, USA.

  • Margarita K says:

Lovely description of (I imagine) lovely fragrance; “A thousand colors but the light is one.” is my favorite.
I’m glad perfumers continue creating, even though sales are not what they used to be… so many people without work and income, so little places to go out and really show your perfume. At least here, in USA.
I’d love to try this ‘antidote to the gloom”. Thank you for the opportunity.

  • petergigov says:

Three years of my life I’ve spent in Spain , mostly in Seville Spain, capital of Andalusia , but I’ve been in Madrid dozens of times. Delicious cuisine pescaito , gazpacho, jamones , nightlife is lively, and local girls are really hot. No wonder there’s a fragrance inspired by sunsets in Madrid.
Cherry Musk is my favorite one from the house. Compliments are really important to me, and if you’re like me, Cherry Musk will get you noticed , smelling amazing of course.
    Exciting giveaway, USA
    Regards

  • How lovely Ramon Monegal Fäisa must be! This would be my first Ramon Monegal fragrance. If there is anything I could use right now, it is certainly “sparkling sunny rays of light and scent” as described in this review. I’d be grateful for the chance to own this beauty. USA

  • Thank you Gail for sharing your thoughts in such a nice way.
I know very little about the sunsets near Madrid, but Faisa should be a lovely powdery and spicy scent , slightly sweet, with hints of woodyness .
One of my favorite fragrances is Impossible Iris – Ramon Monegal. Sweet fruity-floral that always makes me happy.
Thanks to Europerfumes for the opportunity.

This sounds lovely! I am enjoyed how Gail shared the experience of this fragrance through all of the stages throughout the day. While the notes are always a pleasure to hear about I really enjoy a review which speaks to the experience of the wearer and the journey the scent takes us on. I have not gotten the chance to try many scents from this house, just a sample of Flamenco which was amazing!

  • I was finding the bottle and the imagery to be a bright and summery so I was naturally very curious to see how the perfumer interpreted that aspect. I could see it being just another super floral aldehyde bomb, but I’m definitely agreeing with the inclusion of mimosa to give it that glimmer and the mimosa turning honeyed at the end sounds perfect for the end of a summer day. It really sounds quite brilliant and beautiful and sunny. I live in the USA. Thanks for the giveaway!

  • Hugo adam says:

This one is such a beauty, easily one of my favorite creations of Ramon, everytime I wear this one I get new nuances that I find very interesting, some times I get lots of mimosa, other times a blast of saffron and oud, sometimes more rasberry. I can say too it may be one of the stronger fragrances in my collection, 5 sprays is indeed too much, I think 3 max, one time I only wore 1 spray in the chest, worked beautifully

  • Gail’s review seems to match the inspiration of the fragrance and put to mind images of being on a meadow on a sunny day. Thank you for the review and the giveaway. So far, my favorite Ramon Monegal would be Hand in Hand but it sounds like Fäisa could replace it at the top. I’m in USA

  • naomi rooney says:

This does sound amazing. Thanks for the review.
I have recently tried this: it’s so powerful at first from the saffron and oud. I wouldn’t say it’s very sweet in the drydown. The performance is beastly in the first couple of hours but then goes away on my skin. Flamenco is much more powerful imo.

  • tridungnguyentdn says:

I plan on trying ole from this house that was the first time hearing about this house looks like I got to get a sample pack if they offer one .USA

I have never hear of Fäisa by Ramon Monegal, but you managed to transport me to another continent with your words. Gail, I loved your review on Ramon Monegal Fäisa. I love the concept of how the sun is incorporated into the brightness, freshness, and life force of the fragrance. A bouqet of fresh flowers with an oriental touch of saffron, cinnamon, and anise contrasting with the sweetness of raspberry, vanilla, tonka, and caramel. My favorite Ramon Monegal fragrance is Cuirelle. I am from Ohio, USA.

  • kramerongo says:

Anything that have tonka I love. I love imp Iris from Monegal. Its summer frag. LA USA

  • Ive been to Barcelona, but Madrid I’ve seen TV only, and I don’t know the flower field meadows Gail mentioned. Faisa feels classy, it’s not a childish sugary orange soda scent. It’s interesting how it was created, olfactory image of the sunlight.
The only Ramon Monegal fragrance that I know is Flamenco, jammy sweet almost a gourmand , with over 10 hours lasting power.
    Thanks. USA

  • Great review by Gail! Faisa sounds like the perfect pick me up that we need right now. I love that this fragrance is inspired by the sun. My favorite part is: “Fäisa dawns as a mélange of saffron, lemon and sandalwood, an almost metallic, tart glitter that suffuses the wearer (and those within at least six feet) with a sunny, reassuring luminescence. The fragrance rises and diffuses into an easy wearing, balanced oud laced with Ylang-Ylang. Anise melds with mimosa creating a powdery aura, bordering on the medicinal, blooming into a noontide of roses, raspberries and jasmine. The sillage remains as spectacular as the sun, waxing even warmer as Fäisa matures into an afternoon of golden amber, vanilla and mimosa.” This fragrance sounds absolutely amazing and I hope that I am lucky enough to win it! Thanks for the giveaway and I live in the US!
