 It’s the everyday things that can sometimes surprise us when we find a fragrant twist.  Award-winning natural perfumer, Charna Ethier of Providence Perfume Company, has launched a collection of organic teas that will bring the greatest of joys to tea connoisseurs and perfumistas alike.  A•poth•a•care•teas are hand crafted with the finest organic green and black teas blended with carefully selected herbs and infused with the best essential oils that a perfumer’s organ can provide.  The A•poth•a•care•teas  feature three green and three black teas, all housed in apothecary style glass jars that can be reused  with vintage style labels.

Green Pearl Tea is a simple unembellished green tea of the gunpowder style, where the tea leaves are harvested and rolled into small rounds resembling little pearls and gently heated to dry and retain their new shape.  If simple is going to be done, it has to be done impeccably well.  Ms. Ethier delivers, with a green tea that is light, fresh, and just a little bit smoky.  The quality of the tea shines through.

My favorite of the green teas (and the collection as a whole) is the Violetta Tea.  This green tea has been infused with the scent of jasmine flowers, and just like a fine fragrance it’s all in the blending.  Right away I smell a heavenly hand chopped Tahitian vanilla bean and green violet creating a grassy floral taste and aroma. .  A splash of color from dried cornflower petals.    I could hardly decide between drinking it or splashing it on my skin; the scent is that amazing.

Orange Blossom Oolong Tea

One of the lighter black teas being offered at Providence Perfume Co. is Orange Blossom Oolong Tea.  Oolong tea is a hybrid between a green and a black tea, and this still slightly grassy tea brings a richer and creamier note to your cup, paired with dried orange blossoms and jasmine flowers and a perfumed blend that strikes a scent hard to find done well, freesia!

Yuzu Breakfast Tea is not for breakfast only. It is a bold black tea made with black pekoe tea leaves and the Japanese citrus known as Yuzu.  It makes for an invigorating and uplifting blend great for morning tea drinkers or evenings when you need a pick me up.

    I strongly associate Earl Grey with Captain Picard and it is not hard to understand since he must have ordered this tea countless times on his ship. I would like to go for the sampler set..Charna may take inspiration from Tabac Citron to create her next tea though i do wonder if it is possible to come up with tea with tabac aroma. thanks for the draw. i am in the US

    I am a huge tea fan, especially when the weather turns cool. Earl Grey is my favorite caffeinated tea, so I would choose the Earl Grey & Lavender. I don’t associate tea with any song or actor, but do associate it with cool fall evenings and the smell of woodsmoke on the wind. Thank you for this lovely draw! All of the teas sound wonderful.

    Hmm, I think that the Ginger Lily scent would be a great starting point for a tea. The character that I most associate tea with is the aristocratic Mrs. Pumphrey, who had the small fluffy white dog, of the British series, All Creatures Great and Small. If I win the draw I would like to try the sampler.

    I am a tea addict!

    What wonderful news that Charna Ethier, a talented indie perfumer, is bringing my two obsessions together. The obvious choice for her next tea project is one based on her Osmanthus Oolong.

    When I think about tea and art, my mind goes directly to Boris Kustodiev’s painting, The Merchant’s Wife (1918). I love the way it depicts abundance and unapologetic enjoyment of that abundance.

    I would have to choose the sampler if I were to win this draw.

    I drink about six cups of tea a day. Start the day with Earl Grey and absolutely adore Earl Grey with lavender!! If I had the good fortune to win this, I simply would have to choose the Earl Grey. . .well, no. I have to try the sampler set (hope they’re for sale, too!) as I want to try them all!! I hate to say it, but it’s Captain Picard for me, too, lol. I like spiced teas on cold evenings – how about a Bay Rum one?

    I fell in love with Earl Grey tea quite a while ago. It’s still my favorite black tea and I doubt it will ever lose the number 1 spot. And yes, I think of Captain Jean Luc Picard! I also enjoy green tea and flavored green teas. All these teas sound great, especially Violetta Tea and Brambleberry Rose Tea. It’s a tough choice but I would go with Brambleberry Rose Tea. I will have to hit the “submit” button soon or will be changing my mind 🙂 Provanilla might be a good inspiration.

    I first started drinking tea as teenager in the UK, when my mates would offer me a cup of tea (instead of soda), when I would visit their homes. To this day, tea is still my preferred drink of choice. I will always associate tea with Alice’s tea party with the Mad Hatter, the March Hare, and the Dormouse. I love John Tenniel’s illustrations! I think a spiced Indonesian style tea based on Samarinda would make for a great choice. All of the teas sound amazing, so I would have to choose the sample set because I would like to try them all! USA resident.

    There is a Lady Earl Grey tea I like, stronger on the Bergamont. I would pick either the EArl Grey and Lavender (love lavender!) or the Violetta Tea. However, if I win I would pick the sampler, because I would hate to miss out on trying any of these! Charna, please make a tea using Hindu Honeysuckle as an inspiration! Smokey, floral, perfection! USA

    I would love to try the 12 oz. jar of Violetta Tea, which reminds me very much of the paintings of the Pre-Raphaelites, with those bright but melancholy blues and hints of dark forest green. I agree with Samarinda being a great choice for a tea inspiration! I’m a aregistered reader in the USA.

    Kudos to the lovely Ms. Either! I do drink tea and appreciate it very much. A movie that comes to min in “The Taste of Tea.” A 2004 movie in Japanese. I would love to try the Yuzu Breakfast Tea.. I think that Ms Either scent Fern would be fabulous in a green tea. I am a registered US reader.

    Brambleberry Rose Tea! Oh my, sounds delicious. I would love to win a 12 oz. a jar of this gourmand. Tea is my favorite, it is so healing and soul-soothing for me. May I suggest Samarinda for the ideal choice from Charna’s perfumes, with pink peppercorn and cardamom being the perfect spices to accompany a cuppa. A movie that brings to mind enjoying a cup of tea is Next Stop Wonderland, not that tea is a theme in this film, but the main character played by Hope Davis has this wistful longing about her, and the New England autumn weather just begs for a hot cup to warm one from the inside out. Love it. Thanks, I’m in the US.

    After fragrance, tea is my greatest obsession! These teas sound wonderful and I think I’d have to choose the sampler if I won – there are just too many lovely ones to pick just one. I associate Lapsang Souchong tea with the author W. Somerset Maugham and his writing about China. I love this incredibly smoky tea, but my husband says it smells like smoked fish! I think Ginger Lily might be a good tea inspiration.

    I drink coffee in the morning to wake up, but I enjoy tea late in the afternoon to relax and regroup. I would like to try the A•poth•a•care•teas sampler. I strongly associate tea with a cold evening in a cozy chair with a great book. I always think “Little Women”.
    One of my favorite of Charna’s perfumes is Osmanthus Oolong and it would be a great inspiration for her next organic tea with its bitter-sweet fruity notes.
