Artisan perfumer Stephen Dirkes of Euphorium Brooklyn and Tal Shpantzer, award winning photographer have been partners in love and life since they first met in Prague on a photo shoot for a major ad campaign where Tal was the photographer and Stephen the musical composer.

Fast forward to 2006, both Tal and Stephen reconnect in Brooklyn and for the past 10 years continue to work closely together. Euphorium Brooklyn has a diverse portfolio of mostly dark experimental earthy scents, but the classic style of Pétales was Tal’s muse for her upcoming Exhibition Petal Portraits.

Stephen’s approach from the onset to Pétales was always to create a total composition as opposed to the more traditional top, mid and base notes; Tal’s cluster of images embodies the concept for the perfume. Her work for this series features diverse women with different flowers in their mouths, and her photographs blends both stylized and stripped down portraits. To express Tal’s concept through movement, dancer Vangeline will perform a solo Butoh, a contemporary avant-garde dance form which originated in Japan.
