Perris Monte Carlo Santal du Pacifique (Mathieu Nadin) ~Perfume Review +Tropic Of Capricorn Draw

3x Art and Olfaction Finalist in the Independent Category, Perris Monte Carlo is known for their transportive scents of place and olfactive journeys. Gian Luca Perris who is the creative director and sometimes perfumer for the brand takes a raw ingredient and uncovers every facet. Found within the Pacific Islands,  the sandalwood in Perris Monte Carlo Santal du Pacifique takes you on an adventure to uncharted territories to the south of the Tropic of Cancer (today the sun is over the Tropic of Cancer in the Northern Hemisphere and marks the first day of summer), in between Asia and Oceania. The use of sandalwood was popularized in the Indian regions. Frequently used during religious rituals and funerals a millenia ago and even today sandalwood is burned as incense and is a precious prime material in the perfumery world.

With the popularity arising, it is now seen as close to extinction and is now protected in India. It is nearly impossible to find natural Sandalwood essence, one can only find minor essential oils. “My inspiration is always the discovery of a raw material with unique characteristics. My brief to Robertet perfumer Mathieu Nadin was to use this sandalwood in Perris Monte Carlo Santal du Pacifique respecting it at the maximum with a minimalistic formula. Our sandalwood is sourced with giving back to the environment. For every sandalwood cut, another 50 is planted.”-Gian Luca Perris

  • I was not yet familiar with Perris Monte Carlo before Sebastian’s review. What I liked the most about it is how much he wanted me to change that! Generally, I really appreciate his real(!) enthusiasm and love for the art behind the fragrances which often made me want to visit the nearest perfumery immediately. I love an authentic sandalwood smell (yes, i like it to be creamy) which is priceless but also hard to find. I have a feeling that Santal du Pacifique is just my taste and would love to sample it. Thanks and regards, Sebastian from Germany

  • Sebastian reviews are tremendously insightful. His description of the notes sound honest and precise. I’d love to sample this unisex fragrance. In the USA, thanks for the draw!

  • The carrot top note or carrot note period in a fragrance is unique at least for me. I’ve never smelled it. And Sebastian says it has creaminess to Santal Du Pacifique. Which makes me wonder does it smell like creamed carrots. I will have to find a perfumery or Neiman Marcus in my area to get my nose on it. Here in the USA

  • Gabriel Garcia says:

I’ve tried oud imperiale and it’s so nice also cacao azteque, santal pacifique sounds like a good scent. Thanks Sebastian for the spotlight review.

  • Just Add Light says:

Quite familiar with Perris Monte Carlo as a house, although I’m yet to experience a single offering. The bottles are absolutely gorgeous. Definitely on board with Sebastian’s affinity for creamy woods as well as authentic sandalwoods. Very curious what that combination of the sandalwood and musk smells like, especially with a carrot opening! (I’ve never smelled carrot in a perfume before) Totally can see myself layering this with a beautiful vanilla or cherry to round out the dry phases. What a splendid review! Canada / NC.

  • Sebastian is always informing us of these fantastic fragrances that we wouldn’t have known of !

  • Great review that gives good impression of what Santal du pacifique smells like. My first thoughts was of the Danish pastry Carrot cake going over to delicious sandalwood. I would love to smell it, as I’m crazy about creamy sandalwood and Perris Monte Carlo isn’t available in Denmark unfortunately. Good luck to all the participants!

  • Majorfrag4 says:

I liked Sebastian review of cozy and I loved the photos of the sandalwood tree. I have tried Cacao Azteque which is terrific. First rate niche perfumes. I live. In the UK

  • Norbert F. says:

I love how informative and enthusiastic Sebastian is, he gives everything you want to know about a certain fragrance, I own Bois D Oud from Perris Monte Carlo, amazing quality perfume, and I am so excited about this fragrance because with the quality of the notes of their perfumes combined with one of my all time favourite notes it should be a winner for sure. Thanks for the draw, good luck everyone, Europe here – Slovakia

  • As usual, Sebastian’s review highlighted his genuine enthusiasm and willingness to share his knowledge. I love creamy sandalwoods, but i’m not sure about the carrot – I would love to try this scent, thank you for the draw, and i’m in the US.

  • I very enjoyed Sebastian’s YouTube review, like always. I have never tried anything from Perris Monte Carlo, but it looks like a really good brand. I like sandalwood wood. Thank you for the draw. I live in Europe.

  • Perris seems to be doing good work. I like his Rose Ta’if. And I appreciate that he is planting sandalwood. May he plant a thousand new trees!

  • Vittorio Rapizza says:

Great review. I have a Perris Monte Carlo Patchouli that I bought two years ago, and I love it. This perfume will be a great addition to my collection. Thank you for the chance to participate. Miami, FL.

  • Sebastian is the best at describing fragrances! I can almost smell them in my mind when he describes them. Sandalwood based fragrances have always been my favorite. Tam Dao, Santal Blush, Creed Original Santal, Sacred Wood, Etc. Definitely need this for my collection!

  • Haven’t had a nice sandalwood in some time. The base sounds nice with the woods and musk. So sorry not yet familiar with Perris. USA

  • Greetings from Denmark!
I was not aware of Perris Monte Carlo before watching Sebastians review. I have tried enough sandalwoods to know that I like them creamy, and this one sounds really great – The carrot note is intriguing and the presentation is just beautiful.
I find Sebastians reviews to be sincere and knowledgeable, and I also like his taste in perfumes. He is one of the few fragrance reviewers I watch on YouTube.

  • Phoenixad says:

i like sandalwood fragrances and this one have me interested as sebestian mention its natural santal

  • Always enjoy Sebastian’s reviews. Brings us new fragrances a lot of times that we haven’t tried or heard of. This one sounds good and would like to try it. Haven’t tried anything from this House either. Im okay with either creamy or woody. Depends on the time of year I guess .
    Thanks for the giveaway. U.S

  • fazalcheema says:

Sebastian says Santal du Pacifique is quite creamy and very true interpretation of sandalwood. Sandalwood is def. one of my favorite notes. Thanks for the draw. I am in USA.

  • Chuck Goodpaster says:

Sebastian always gives great, honest reviews. I trust his taste in fragrance.

  • I was not aware of Perris Monte Carlo prior to Sebastian’s review, but he certainly has me interested now. I enjoy the passion with which he spoke of Santal du Pacifique, and the in depth breakdown of its notes. I am from Toronto, Canada.

  • Not at all familiar with this scent, but it sounds incredible. As always, Sebastian’s review was detailed and entertaining. Live in California

  • I have never had the opportunity to try a fragrance from Perris Monte Carlo. Sebastian’s description of this fragrance made it sound like exceptioal. His strong recommendation made me really want to giv this one a try. A warm thank you from Canada.

  • As always, I loved Sebastian’s matter-of-fact reviewing style, down to earth and pleasant. I haven’t had a chance to sample anything from Perris Monte Carlo, although I have seen them in the media lately. I love sandalwood and Musk and I think I’d really enjoy this scent. I am in the US.

  • lordkelwynne says:

I have yet to sample this PMC scent. I own their Bois d’Oud which I adore and love wearing in the summer. What struck me most about Sebastian’s review was the identification of this PMC scent as a creamy wood. I love and wear all things wood, scents upon which Sebastian and I concur, so this would be a magnificent scent for me. I live in the US in Pennsylvania. I would be very pleased to be considered for this giveaway.

  • “For every sandalwood cut , another 50 are planted”, now that’s a really great thing. I did not had the chance to test any Perris Monte Carlo until now but i love those beautiful bottles a lot. Thanks for this amazing draw, i’m from EU.

  • Oh, I liked when he added the dry experience! Those lightly woody musks are so en vogue right now. While I ususally am the woody type, the creamy santal plus some dryness sound lovely. I’d like to win to Germany, please.

  • DespinaVnt says:

I loved the focus on the creaminess of the sandalwood and the precise description of how the carrot note opening truly smells like.
I have not had the pleasure to try a Perris Monte Carlo perfume so far, I’m
    also intrigued by Tubéreuse Absolue.
I’m a YouTube subscriber (DESPINA VENETI), and I live in EU (France).
    Thank you!

  • I love Sebastian reviews and always enjoy his video-review.
As he said this perfume is wonderful- creamy-woody, with little vanille and orchide touch.
Unfortunatly, I never normaly tried Perris M Carlo perfumes.
I like sandal and it will nice when it will balanced between woody- creamy sides.

  • fleurdelys says:

I enjoy Sebastian’s videos and his reviewing style. Very concise, but incredibly descriptive and honest.
I love a creamy sandalwood and Perris Monte Carlo Santal du Pacifique seems like a great creation.
My favorites from Perris Monte Carlo are Rose de Taif and Oud Imperial.
Thank you Sebastian and Cafleurebon for this wonderful review and generous giveaway.
    I live in the EU.

  • I really love Sebastian video reviews. He is very knowledgeable about notes in fragrances. One of my favorite notes is Sandalwood. I would love to try this fragrance so much. Live in No. California. Thank you and many blessings.

  • Keep hearing and hearing more of Perris Monte Carlo, have not tried any creations yet, but have a few on the list and now Santal du Pacifique on it too as I really love sandalwood.
Long time subscriber of Sebastian channel, I as really enjoy his honest reviews and introductions to new releases and brands, I really trust his descriptions and honest reviews as they really helped me in past. Sebastian mentioned that it is creamy cozy scent and I really love comforting perfumes, rather then harsh and dry woody scents, everything about this creations sounds incredible from the bottle to the notes, stoked to try it. Once again a fantastic collaboration and a generous giveaway!
    From EU.

  • Lara Anderson says:

This sounds like one of the sandalwoods that I just have to try. Have Tam Dao but this sounds even better with the musk. In search of more comforting scents and this is perfect for that. Please enter me in the giveaway as would love to add this to my collection.

  • I only know this house because of Cafleurebon reviews. I’ve never been exposed to it, personally. Is it my imagination or is sandalwood the it ingredient this year? If so, that’s fine with me. I love it. I prefer creamy sandalwood, because to me that’s its uniqueness as opposed to other woods. I have a confession, I’m not a huge fan of vlogs because some of them natter on and I just want to fast forward, something you can do easily when reading. But Sebastian’s reviews are an exception, and I think the reason I like his is he always makes the perfume review the star, it’s not all about him, as if the case with some others. Plus, I learn how to correctly pronounce a lot of words from him, lol! Thanks for the draw. I’m in USA

  • lookingfeelingsmellinggreat says:

Thanks, everyone for stopping by to comment and take part in the full bottle giveaway. And of course, thank you for watching the review on YouTube.

  • I’ve never smelled anything from this house but I love Sandalwood! Every note in this one are among my favorites! Violet, orchid, carrot, and dry woods! Creamy or dry depends on the day. I’m in the USA.

  • Great review! As always I enjoyed Sebasian reviews.
I like more sandalwood woody side. I like that Sandal du Pacifique has creamy, woody sandal with gourmand notes.
From sandalwood perfumes I like Sacred Wood by Kilian.
    US

  • James2473 says:

Great article! I really enjoyed Sebastian’s review! I love how descriptive his videos are. The way he describes the sandalwood makes me want to sniff it so badly! I had never heard of PMC before this review, but they sound like a very good house. I’m located in the USA

  • Southernboy says:

Enjoyed the video , like hearing how this creamy sandalwood , it one favorite notes in the fragrances .Live in the US

  • I’m not yet familiar with Perris Monte Carlo and Sebastian’s review makes me think I might be missing out, at least as far as this Sandelwood is concerned. I like the detail of the on-screen rolling list of notes. I’m in the EU (UK). I like my sandalwood creamy and woody, and this one seems to fit the bill!

  • ElenaChiss says:

I know some Perris Monte Carlo fragrances (the ones with oud and the rose-based one), but another offering focused on santal sounds really good and also seeing Sebastian review and his enthusiasm about it makes me eager to test it as soon as possible.

I am from EU. Thanks for the draw!

  • newyork318 says:

Creamy sandalwood with clean musk sounds like an amazing base for this fragrance. I haven’t yet experienced any Perris Monte Carlo scents. I am, however, beginning to really dive into different sandalwoods and am excited to try this one. US.

  • perfumelover67 says:

Great review! Carrot is a note a really love in perfumery and in Santal du Pacifique sounds very delicious. I like woody sandalwood perfumes. Rose de Taif by Perry Montecarlo is great! I live in the USA. Thank you for the draw.

  • heartandsoul says:

I missed the opportunity to snag the extrait on EBay for a steal. The EDP has been on my want list for quite a while. Creamy sandalwood is my favorite scent on the planet. It absolutely centers me. Sebastian clearly understands the magic of this divine wood.
Tam Dao EDP is my favorite perfume but I’m always trying sandalwood driven scents looking for the holy grail. I live in the US. Thank you for the chance.

  • Fusiongel says:

Solid review. I can’t say I’ve tried a fragrance with carrot in the note breakdown, but I guess I’ll try anything to get my recommended vegetable intake. If it works with Rhubarb and Tomato Leaf, carrot sounds like something worth trying out. Especially in this fragrance. I haven’t tried anything from Perris Monte Carlo, but the creamy sandalwood puts it in my to-try list. Cheers from CT and thanks for the draw.

  • WaltherP99 says:

Great job as usual for one of the best,if not the best Youtube reviewers.I’ve been Sebastian’s subsciber for many years-since his old channel Man Loves Cologne.

Not familiar with this one to be honest , but i’ve sampled most from the brand , and imo Bois d‘Oud is by far the best one, and a must have for me for the next late autumn-winter season.I will get it 100% .
Also i want to sample the new Citruses collection -they get a lot of praise lately.Unfortunately the 3 from this new collection are a bit late and not available yet.I was told quite a few times “We’ll have them early-mid june” … “At the end of next week…maybe” was the answer when i called yesterday.
Some of my sandalwood fragrances i do like creamy and some woody. I allready follow both @cafleurebon @lookfeelsmellgreat and @perrismontecarlo on Instagram.

  • Lori Laws says:

Excellent review by Sebastian! I am very curious about the carrot top note in this fragrance. I love that when they cut a tree that they plant another one.
I can’t wait to get my nose on this one with the creamy sandalwood.
Thanks for the draw and I live in the US!! 🙂

  • Ivan.napoleon says:

Sebastián s review perfect as usual

Sebastain’s reviews are always clear and concise and this one is no different. I like sandalwood both creamy and woody, so this sounds lije a dream come true. Not familar with Perris Monte carlo, but would love to ave this as a beginning. Thanks for the draw. I’m in the USA

  • How I love Sebastian’s reviews! I’ve never tried anything from Perris Monte Carlo. His description sounds so beautiful. So cozy and warm. I’d love to try out this fragrance. I really enjoy perfumes that have sandalwood in them. I live in the US (Pennsylvania)

  • bumbuliuki says:

Excellent review from Sebastian as always. I have recently discovered a few Perris Monte Carlo fragrances and I’m looking forward to try Santal du Pacifique.
I enjoy the creamy aspect of sandalwood. It’s cozy and enveloping.
Thank you for the review and the draw.

Fantastic job by my favorite Youtube reviewer.Bought over 10 fragrances because of him. Also i do like my sandalwood fragrances to be more creamy than woody.
I do like Perris Monte Carlo – i know some of their fragrances .Bois d’Oud is 10/10 fragrance-love the plum in this one.I do have nice 30ml decant -fantastic scent – gets me nice amount of compliments too.I also have 30 ml decant of Essence de Patchouli too.

  • Thanks to everyone involved in this awesome giveaway !!

I just adore sandalwood in fragrance especially real sandalwood its just a delight to wear, probably my favourite wood very close to real ouds. Sebastians review is really enjoyable to watch,he breaks down the fragrance in great detail which for me really helps with blind buying living in the bush where theres no fragrance stores. I love my sandalwood both woody and creamy possibly leaning towards that smooth creamy vibe tho.I am familiar with one or two perris monte carlo but would love to really explore the house especially the new freshies and the bergamotto one for sure.

    I live in Canada .

Again a wonderful generous giveaway much appreciated ! Have great weekend guys n gals.

  • chaysonbezouska says:

    Hi there!
I have never been introduced to this brand before, so I am lookong forward to finding a local shop I can sample from. I am a big sandalwood fan, whether it be incense, candles, fragrances or the real deal. This fragrance screams my style! What I liked most about Sebatian’s video review was what I always enjoy… listening to his voice and his descriptive knowledge. Just something very comforting about the way he speaks, almost like a very good story… about fragrances! On a serious note, what I enjoyed most was the discovery of a new brand, and a new note: carrot!
    I am from Canada.

  • I’m a huge sandalwood fan and this is one of my favorite recent discoveries. I’ve been savoring my sample from Lucky Scent and would LOVE a full bottle of this gorgeous fragrance. Sebatian’s video reviews are evocative without being unnecessarily flowery. Also, he and I share some favorite notes (sandalwood and musk), so I always seek out his reviews in particular. I’m in the U.S.

  • Catanosmia says:

I enjoyed this review! The top notes with the creamy sandalwood drydown sound appealing. Thanks for the draw, I’m in the US.

  • I always love Sebastian’s reviews as our likes and dislikes seem closely aligned. I am not familiar with this house although Sebastian mentions having reviewed another of their fragrances last year. Sandalwood is a particular favorite of mine and if this one is held in such high esteem by Sebastian I am very eager to get my nose on it. I am in New York,NY in the US! Thanks for the chance 🙂

  • What I enjoyed about Sebastian’s YouTube review is his honest opinion! He’s also incredibly gifted at describing the fragrances. I’m only a little familiar with Perris Monte Carlo. I like my sandalwood creamy! Arkansas, USA

  • I’ve never tried anything from this house, though I’ve heard of them, but this one appeals to me because of the creamy sandalwood note. I prefer the creamy, spicy, and even somewhat sweet sandalwood over when it is more powdery.
    I’m in the US

  • I like sandalwood and especially that he says it’s creamy and cozy. I do like a few from PMC, especially Oud Imperial. (EU)

  • doveskylark says:

Sebastian always intrigues me with his reviews. I am very interested in experiencing the creamy sandalwood note, yet appreciating a bit of dryness. I tend to prefer whip-dry fragrances, but I know sandalwood usually provides creaminess. I am also interested in the opening stages of this fragrance with its orris butter, violet, and carrot notes.
I have never tried any fragrances from Perris Monte Carlo.
    I live in the USA.

  • andrei.np says:

I love that Sebastian’s reviews are forward and straight to the point. This one was no exception.
I have been on the search for a sandalwood fragrances, my favourites so far are Tam Dao and Sacred Wood, but both are more on the woodsy side. Seeing as this is described as creamy and having the added carrot seed note, I expect his to be a softer, more comforting kind of scent. I’ve only tried Oud Imperial from the house, but it wasn’t something I would wear.

I am in the EU (Romania). thanks for the giveaway!

  • Not yet familiar with PMC, but I’d like to be! I think creamy sandalwood is my preference but I love woody fragrances as well.

I like how Sebastian describes his experience–very knowledgable but really he is talking about the wearing not the construction.

    USA
Thanks for the review and draw!

  • Bernie777 says:

I am not familiar with Perris Monte Carlo. I do love a woody Sandalwood though. Living in San Antonio, Texas there are not a lot of boutiques that carry such fragrances. I like the way Sebastian describes the notes and compares them with others I may know. Thank you.
