Launched in 2012 and hailing from Monaco, France the Perris Black collection by Perris Monte Carlo is an ode to opulence and a reminder that great fragrances and the highest quality ingredients go hand in hand. The brand is known for using the best oils and  ingredients and the two Nosy Be scents (2014), Patchouli Nosy Be and Ylang Ylang Nosy Be, composed by Jacques Fleuri in collaboration with Gian Luca Perris.

The  2014 collection is a tribute to the Nosy Be Island near Madagascar which produces a great deal of raw materials for perfumery, so much so that the island has been given the nickname “perfume island”.  Perris Monte Carlo Patchouli Nosey B is dedicated to patchouli which can be detected from start to finish, but it is not linear nor a simple rendition which you find in many commercial patchouli fragrances.

Perris Monte Carlo Patchouli Nosey Be is reviewed by Editor Sebastian Jara of Smelling Great whose keen nose picks up the schinus mole fruit in the heart which has a distinct pink pepper like– scent. Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

Sebastian’s reviews are always great. Patchouli is always hit or miss with me, but Nosy Be seems nice. Perris Monte Carlo performance with some offerings is dreadful tho.

“Once a patch-ho, always a patch-ho” I love Sebastian’s perfume reviews. He has great taste and has such a great way with words. A smooth, refined patchouli that is soft but earthy sounds divine. I was not familiar with Perris Monte Carlo but now wish to know more.

  • RODNEY RICE says:

Sebastian is by far the most informed fragrance guru on the net. I am without exception a Patcho as is Sebastian. I have purchased over 7 niche parfumes and all because of his reviews.

  • Rachel McKenzie says:

I was not familiar with the brand or Nosy Be until Sebastian’s review. I always look to him to express the nuances of patchouli fragrances, since its both our favorite note. I was pleased to hear this scent is both refined and cozy. I would love to win a bottle! Thank you for the opprotunity!

  • Jesus alcaraz says:

I am in love with patchouli fragrance, it’s a very musky and earthy sense of scent. I can only imagine how smooth and classy this is, the bottle looks like a gem in my eyes. Sebastian YouTube review brought me here, greetings from the USA!

  • Leonard Grant says:

In his review, Sebastian takes us on a fragrance journey to Nosy Be, an island with a patchouli all its own. He description of the patchouli note in this fragrance intrigued me because he described it as refined, almost sublimated. A refined earthy patchouli with lemon and pepper notes sounds tempting.

I am familiar with Peru’s Monte Carlo, as I have been wearing their Arancia di Sicilia, a woody orange fragrance. Another earthy citrus perfume like Nosy Be would be a splendid compliment to our nascent summer.

  • Andrei Artimon says:

I realli like patchouli fragrances and have a lot in my collection, but never tryed anything from this house , hope to be on the winning end this time , new york , usa .

  • I love how Sebastian explains the notes and accords without just reciting them. For example, explaining what the Schinus Molle conveys. A clean patchouli also sounds excellent. I’ve never experienced Perris Monte Carlo but I’d certainly love to. greetings from Cleveland OH.

  • Usually not a patcho but this perris nosey b sounds wonderful. I live in the USA and I own jasmin du pays

  • Hicham Chouqi says:

Very lasting strong in the beginning very beautiful fragrance
I use to mix it with Oud Noir Versace
It gives you special experiment of oud and patchouli

“My childhood memories seem to be wreathed in the twin and far from harmonious olfactory sensations of patchouli oil and caustic soda.”

  • Agent of Saturn says:

Sebastian is my favorite fragrance reviewer by far; I really appreciate his pensive and in depth takes on fragrances. Also, he seems like a really cool dude! This video, like the rest of his videos , really helped me broaden the perspective I approach fragrances with. Patchouli is something that I’ve always loved but unfortunately I have not experienced much true diversity with it. I have never heard of Perris Monte Carlo but I certainly can’t wait to grab sample of Patchouli Nosey Be at some point. Hello from Davenport, Iowa USA!

  • Sibyl Haynes says:

Thank you again Sebastien for another intriguing review! I didn’t know about “perfume island”. I would love to try this and compare it to my other patchouli fumes- Reminiscence and Les Nereides. I think I’m too dumb to win the prize though because I have never found a winner announced on this site nor on Facebook.

  • Sibyl Haynes says:

PS if I do figure it out and I do win I do live in the lower 48 of the USA. Seattle to be exact.

  • I’m a “patch-ho” too and there’s rarely a patchouli scent that I don’t like. Sebastian is right. You either love patchouli or you hate it. I’ve done some blind buys based on his reviews and I’ve loved all of them. He’s got one of the best noses in the fragrance community. I’ll definitely get a sample of this one.

  • Lee smith says:

I enjoyed the way that Sebastian explained the uniqueness of the Patchouli and why it should be experienced.

  • I really liked his description of how the pepper blends with the Patchouli. Sounds great!

I am located in Montana, USA. Thanks!

  • Chrispine Maura says:

My first time here.Always views Sebastian’s reviews. Well researched and always to the point. Best of my top frags reviewers. Thanks Ssbastian and keep up the motivation. Reviews full of content and better details than others. Thanks

  • Trinity33 says:

I love patchouli in all its forms and a clean patchouli sounds delightful for the summer months. Sebastian always brings such enthusiasm and knowledge to his reviews. Commenting from MD, USA.

  • I love Perris Monte Carlo’s fragrances because they really highlight the main notes. The creations are simple but very elegant and created with the best raw materials. I know several of them but haven’t tried this one yet. I like that Patchouli Nosy Be is described as smooth and earthy, thus I’m intrigued. I am in the USA.

  • I didn’t know the meaning of Nosey Be, til now. Always fun to learn something new. Sebastian says it’s a refined patchouli fragrance that’s creamy with its sandalwood and vanilla base. Sounds lovely. I liked that it has a pepper note. Thanks for the opportunity to sniff! Mich USA

  • manofscents says:

Great review, very fluid and illustrative. I own Cedro di Diamante, Arancia di Sicilia and Rose de Taif so curious as to how this one is.

  • chrisskins says:

Nosy Be may be the cutest island name ever! Very intrigued by this scent, I love patchouli but came late to the party. Although I am all for the dirty hippie, headshop experience, Sebastian describes this as smooth more than once and pointed out the beauty of the patchouli mixing with a great vanilla. Sounds so yummy, and I hate that word. I am new to Perris Monte Carlo and I live in the USA.

  • Hashim Madani says:

What makes this fragrance attractive to me is how the beautiful vanilla note Sebastian mentions combines with the patchouli. I’ve seen Sebastian talk about Perris Monte Carlo numerous times in his videos but I’ve never sampled any of their fragrances, unfortunately. VA, USA.

  • I could listen to Sebastian talk about fragrance all day. First off–I’d never have pronounced this correctly (“Nosy Bee” is what I would have said), so I’m thankful to have an informed pronunciation now. After listening to his description, I’d love to get my nose on this buttery, refined patchouli fragrance. I’d also love to smell that opening lemon–however brief it may be.

    Thanks Sebastian and thanks Cafleurebon!

  • Thank you for this opportunity. I’ve been a big patchouli fan since wearing the essential oil as a teen in the 70’s. Fortunately for those around me, I have since refined my appreciation for the note with favs like Reminiscence and Psychedelique. Sebastian’s generous expertise has inspired several fragrance purchases for me that have rocked my world, especially Nishane Hacivat, Tiziana Terenzi Folonero and The Harmonist Yin Transformation. Perris Monte Carlo Patchouli Nosy Be sounds like an elegant addition to my collection. Thanks again, -Patricio. Cape Cod, USA

  • dcautilli says:

Sebastian consistently creates quality content that is both informative and enjoyable. One aspect in particular that sets him apart is that he brings attention to new and lesser known houses and their fragrances. Before watching Sebastian’s video I wasn’t familiar with Perris Monte Carlo. Patchouli is my favorite nite in perfumery and I would love the opportunity to get my nose on Patchouli Be Nosey.

    David, Philadelphia Pennsylvania, USA…

  • Kyle Kopacz says:

I’m looking forward to a more “smooth” patchouli fragrance as I often find them harsh. I’ve only tried Arancia di Sicila from PMC and really like it.

  • My most loved perfume scent is patchouli. Over and above every other note, nothing creates an aura around me like patchouli. I am drawn to it in a magical way. Just no comparing patchouli to any other plant on earth.

So glad that Sebastian will be reviewing more patchouli fragrances. I have been a Patch Ho since 1970. Still can never get enough patchouli.

  • petergigov says:

I really enjoyed creamy patchouli, spiciness, the quality vanilla , and like I said in the previous post, sandalwood is always appreciated. I wouldn’t say I’m familiar with Perris Monte Carlo, just because I have a sample of Arancia Di Sicilia, but it’s impressive.
    Exsiting giveaway, USA

  • The California pepper tree note sounds interesting. Like the sound of “smooth” patchouli. Wasn’t familiar with this house until now. US

  • Sebastian says he is a fan of patchouli as a note in perfume and Patchouli Nosy Be is a well-rounded safe patchouli perfume for even those who may not like patchouli. USA

  • Yomi Taiwo says:

I’d never heard of Nosy Be or Perris Monte Carlo before Sebastian’s video, so I learnt several new things beyond perfume from this video. What I enjoy most about Sebastian’s video(s) is his description of fragrances and their notes. He describes them in such a way that even if you were just listening without any intentions of try the fragrance out, you’ll be curious to try it out. He goes over not just the notes but the kind of feeling it gives off which is very unique and I like it very much!!!! The notes He mentioned about this fragrance are the combination that I live for! Patchouli, amber, honey, vanilla SANDALWOOD!!!!! Thinking about what it smells like is exciting.

    I live in DE, USA

  • Sebastian says this is refined, clean, peppery patchouli. Wow. Yes, please! I have never tried anything from Perris Monte Carlo and I am in the US.

  • abbie road says:

This smooth patchouli sounds gorgeous! Most patchouli I smell is a little rough so this one I think I would love wearing. I’m a little familiar with Perris Monte Carlo but I don’t own one of their fragrances yet! USA

  • HiMyNameIsWaste says:

“Buttery, suede/leather patchouli” sounds right up my alley. I’ve smelled the original Perris Monte Carlo releases – Taif Rose stood out.

I live in Nashville, TN, USA.

  • Bryant Worley says:

I always enjoy Sebastian’s reviews. And this one is no exception, as he shows sincere enjoyment of the fragrance. He makes it sound elegant and sexy – ‘there’s a smoothness…a refined quality with this’; ‘a creamy, buttery texture like a suede leather’. So, I need this in my life.

I’ve heard of Perris Monte Carlo fragrances over the past 2 years, and have yet to put any to skin. That is going to change soon, as I just received a sample of Jasmin de Pays (a different YouTube reviewer’s recommendation), and am going to be ordering some other samples shortly. Winning this would mean one less sample to order. So send me my fragrance;-D

I live in Waldorf, MD, USA.

  • TE Withrow says:

I enjoy patchouli fragrances and wear them to bed at night because I find them so comforting! Thanks for another great review! I live in Illinois US.

  • This sounds really pretty. Patchouli tends to be kind of sharp on me but Sebastian describes Nosy Be as cozy and earthy woody at the same time. I’d love to try it because I’ve never tested out anything from Perris Monte Carlo.
    I live in the USA

  • villaneve says:

always love Sebastian’s reviews, easily the best frag youtuber around. I’m curious as I’ve never smelled a “suede-like” patch as Sebastian said this comes off as.

I don’t own a bottle but I do have a 15ml decant of Arancia Di Sicilia that I adore.

  • Sebastian’s reviews are awesome and he has quickly become my goto Youtube fragrance reviewer. The notes are always described in a very relatable manner and this time he even gave us visuals of Nosy Be which I didn’t know about till now 🙂 Patchouli with a base that includes Sandalwood and Vanilla sounds very lovely. I love Santal Du Pacifique and Rose De Taif from Perris Monte Carlo. Thank you for the review and the giveaway. I’m in USA

  • ScentitarFragrance says:

I loved that he tells us how the fragrance feels and the main notes ! I love that this sounds like more well rounded and even creamy patchouli ! I would love to smell this one !
I have heard about this brand , but sadly have not tried or experienced any of these beautiful fragrances ! I must say the bottles are timeless and yet stunning too !!!! Ms, USA

  • I have never tried a patchouli which starts with lemon and pink pepper. This sounds like a delicious fragrance— thanks for the review! Also, I’m looking forward to trying the rest of Perris Monte Carlo’s scents— particularly, as Sebastian suggested, the extraits.
    Writing from the US

  • I am a big fan of patchouli, from head shop to smooth and everything in-between. I have tried Ylang Ylang Nosy Be, so I know about the island. I love Arancia di Sicilia. I think Patchouli Nosey Be should be great with a lemon and spicy opening, then the smoothness of vanilla and sandalwood coming in.
    Live in the US.

  • As Michelyn remarked, Sebastian is very nose-y ( 🙂 ) to have detected the California pink pepper in the heart. I haven’t tried Perris Monte Carlo fragrances, yet. Love Sebatian reviews – concise, to the point, and they do a great job explaining how a fragrance would smell like to someone who has not smelled it before.

Glad to know that Patchouli Nosey Be is a smooth patchouli fragrance, as sometimes patchouli can be quite sharp and distinct. It was also good to learn about Nosey Be (and that it is pronounced Bay, and not Be(e) ). Thanks for the draw and the review. Writing from the USA.

  • From one Patchouli lover to another, this was a great review. Refined patchouli is far superior to some from my youth. I have and enjoy several fragrances from Perris Monte Carlo.

  • Gökhan Gültepe says:

    Hi from Orlando Florida
I am familiar with that brand, I usually see It when I travel I love patchouli and the whole combination of notes is calling me.
What I like about Sebastian is since I discovered him and I’m watching his videos on YouTube, I get so much information about each fragrances And the notes. fragrances that are compared to each other and smell similar that you would not know. And the best Sebastian has really good advices, and the Hidden gems he shares which I would never Heard of are incredible.

  • Watched Sebastian’s review, and what I enjoyed the most was the geography of the patchouli from Nosy Be and how that translates into it’s nuances as a note being more refined, soft and buttery like suede (not going into a leather note, Sebastian says). The whole composition sounds like something I’d really like with the peppery opening and the smooth patchouli heart. I’m a lover of patchouli fragrances, and am very curious about this one as Sebastian says it’s very different from other patchouli focused scents because of the material source. Thank you, and am interested in the giveaway. Seattle, Washington USA. Jackie

  • Smooth and refined patchouli, with hints of leather . Without a doubt we have a winner here.
I don’t own Perris Monte Carlo fragrances, but I know Cacao Azteque well. My future brother in law bathes in it haha Smell like a hot Mexican chocolate, it’s really good.
    Thanks, in US

  • With so many patchouli fragrances out there it is good to have Sebastian reviewing the ones that matter for us. A smooth, refined patchouli perfume that combines nicely with a vanilla, sandalwood base sounds fantastic. Not familiar with Perris Monte Carlo fragrances, first time hearing about this brand. Thanks for the draw.

  • WaltherP99 says:

Thank you Perris Monte Carlo for this generous draw , and Sebastian and the nice review.
Not all but most pre-2020 Perris Monte Carlo fragrances I’m familiar with, and imo Bois d‘Oud is by far the best one i know , and a must have for the winter. Happy to have it.
Patchouli Nosy Be is one of the few I have not smelled. What intrigues me is the refined patchouli, spiciness and vanilla to balance the fragrance, making it not overly butch .
    USA

  • Love Sebastian’s reviews. My nose is not as well trained or discerning as his but he always gives such a thorough review that I enjoy hearing his thoughts. I really enjoyed Perris Monte Carlo Ylang Ylang and I’d love to give this one a try. I’m in the US, thanks for the draw!

  • Camille Sheil says:

I am not familiar with Perris Monte Carlo perfumes so this was a treat to hear! A Patchouli, but a different one… A different twist. I love the fact that the ingredients come from Nosey Be. It’s great to hear about the twist- very apropos. Surrounding pepper notes is an amazing frame. I love Patchouli fragrances as it is and this only continues and expands that love.

Thanks for the opportunity! I live in New Hampshire USA!

  • NiceVULady says:

Love Sebastian’s reviews. They are always so informative and interesting. I love patchouli too, so this is a great draw for me. Thanks for a great review as always and for a most generous draw. I’m in the USA

  • harry bui says:

Unfortunately I haven’t smelled it. And I don’t think I can find it easily where I live nonetheless I always like to hear your reviews. Only recently I discovered that I like patchouli and patchouli likes me I always thought that was too heavy for me but that’s not the case .It depends how well made is the fragrance I believe. What kind of patchouli has coromandel from chanel because that’s the one I fall in love…

  • Nice review as always
Did not know about the island.
Patchouli is always a hit or miss with me.

  • Unfortunately I haven’t smelled it. And I don’t think I can find it easily where I live nonetheless I always like to hear your reviews. • Hugo adam says:

One of my fav patch, i bought it right when it was released. It’s heavy, a little goes a long way so my bottle lasts. There is a heavy cacao-note in it, not the patchouli induced chocolat-scent but cacao is a main note besides the patchouli and vanilla. I also has a fresh cut wood scent. Totally unisex. If Perris MC is related to Houbigant is they that too with Alyssa Ashley?! Perris and AA has a couple of scents that not only smells the same, they share names and notes too. Of course Perris is more HQ in rawmaterial.

  • Bacuzzi Babs says:

Can you imagine? I was in Monte Carlo a couple of years ago and i didn’t know that perfume label! Thank you for your review, you’re one of the best(i follow you everywhere, insta, YouTube) and although i love Amber this perfume line is something that i will definitely try!! Thank you once again!! ‍♂️

  • Brayton Beanland says:

I have been binging your vids since yesterday, love your vids! I don’t remember which vid you said this is in, but you said pineapple is one of those notes that you very much enjoy/appreciate, but I haven’t seen any videos dedicated to pineapples yet. I feel like that would be a great video!!

  • naomi rooney says:

Never would’ve imagined that Nosy Be was an island. I wonder if those people are nosy? To be or not to be I suppose.

  • Hahaha! I’m a “patch-ho” too, Sebastian! Loved his review as I’m also trying to test every patchouli fragrance out there. And I have that book from NEZ! I highly recommend it for any “patchouli-ho”. I’m happy to hear Patchouli Nosy Be is smooth and cozy, it sounds like it could easily fill a void in my patchouli collection. I absolutely know the brand because this fragrance has been on my list to try for a while. I would be ecstatic to win this, thank you for the opportunity! I’m in the USA.

  • tridungnguyentdn says:

I like cacao from this house. I prefer a little rough and earthy patchouli.

  • talisman30 says:

‘Love Sebastian’s enthusiasm on presenting this house and his fascination with patchouli. Big fan here of the note as well but haven’t tried this particular one yet. Very curious and of course with his review you would either just be just convinced to buy it or get lucky win the promo. – Dallas, Tx here!

  • Sebastian’s reviews are always great. I like patchouli very much but not its humid “basement” sounds. This sounds very interesting, I am not familiar with Parris Monte Carlo perfumes.

I like patchouli a lot and I heard about this one but I have not tried it. Fr the review a patchouli with lemon and pepper notes sounds really good. And it being a smooth patchouli makes it more interesting.
    I live in the US.
    Thanks

  • I loved the way Sebastian describes the smooth and peppery Patchouli Nosey Be. I have never heard to this area of Madagascar but it sounds like a great place. I am familiar with Perris Monte Carlo. I have tried Jasmin de Pays, great fragrance. But I am a patchouli lover and this sound great. USA

I am a Patcho, sometimes. I love Andy Tauers way of doing with patchouli, and I love Perris Monte Carlos way. From this house I have to beauties. Tuberose and Cacao, both are very very irresistible.

I enjoy Sebastian’s interest in patchouli fragrances and his wealth of knowledge on these fragrances in particular. I am not familiar with Perris Monte Carlo, but Sebastian did a great job of informing me of how Patchouli Nosy Be might smell and how all of the notes play off of each other. Kind regards from Illinois, USA.

I always enjoys Sebastian’s content and review. This one of Perris Monte Carlo Patchouli Nosy Be. It sounds like an amazing spicy patchouli fragrance that transitions to sweet patchouli. It sounds really good and I’m a huge fan of patchouli. I am familiar with Perris Monte Carlo fragrances, but I haven’t tried anything from them. I am from Ohio, USA.

I liked the way that Sebastian explained how this patchouli is different from others, and how he described its interaction with the other notes. I’ve never smelled a Perris Monte Carlo fragrance, but he makes them sound most interesting. I live in the US, in North Carolina.

  • doveskylark says:

Sebastian always describes the nuances of fragrances so well. Nosy Be sounds so smooth, from its opening with its pink pepper notes to the patchouli mixed with its sandalwood and vanilla notes. It sounds so refined, yet earthy. I am now going to research Nosy Be Island as well as others perfumes from Perris Monte Carlo.
I haven’t tried anything from Perris Monte Carlo….I hope Neiman Marcus survives…
    I live in the USA.

  • Good perfumer, lovely notes , enjoyable review = must sample for me. I’m especially excited about this high end patch . Thank you Sebastian

Cozy, big, bright and not overly earthy patchouli, with vanilla, Sebastian knows well how to get his viewers attention 🙂
Bois d’Oud is 10/10 fragrance-love the plum in this one.I do have nice 30ml decant -fantastic scent . Also have 30 ml decant of Essence de Patchouli , and I’m curious how it will compare to Patchouli Nosey Be .

Exquisite review I have to say .
I’ve heard the name Perris Monte Carlo quite a few times, but I never had a chance to smell their fragrances.
Pink pepper and vanilla is really popular combination in counalierie in Spain and Iran.
Because of the pink pepper, vanilla and the clean patchouli in Patchouli Nose Be , I imagined Chocolate and pink pepper cake.
Appreciate the review, and the giveaway campaign.

  • Everything about this sounds amazing; Smooth Patchouli, woodsy, peppery.. I’ve been looking for a new favorite patchouli fragrance.

  • dana.sandu says:

Not sure I am entitled to participate (and we all know that I don’t NEED another bottle), but since I love Perris and am slowly moving into a few note explorations that include patch, I’ll throw my name in the draw hat… because Sebastian!
He loves his patchouli and this one shows in all his tops. And, yes, he had me at “patch ho”–if a smell makes this very serious man lose composure, I want in 🙂
