Perfumology Fragrances Grange, L’Ima and Sudu Te (Justin Frederico) + The Three You Should Be Wearing Giveaway

Perfumology Fragrances Creative Director Nir Guy and perfumer Justin Frederico comprise a dream team. After several collaborations, they understand one another well; more importantly, they work from the heart. This is apparent from the first sniff of any one of their five fragrances (Blyss, Grange, Clutch, L’Ima, and Sudu Te). Mutual respect, dialogue and intuition is their touchstone: theirs is beauty born of debate and discussion, seasoned with passion. Neither wishes to sacrifice quality or wearability, which is why Perfumology fragrances possess such a wide appeal. It’s unlikely that they will gather dust or be relegated to a shelf – such perfumes are meant to be enjoyed, applied with liberal lashings. We asked Nir Guy which three he thought that our readers should be wearing, and the following were his choices: Perfumology Fragrances Grange, L’Ima and Sudu Te.

Perfumology Fragrances Grange

Perfumology Fragrances Grange © Nir

Perfumology Fragrances Grange 2018: From childhood memory and adolescent shenanigans comes Grange. Illicit cigarettes, a lovely tobacco and boozy soft fig are prefaced by juice dripping from limes and oranges ever so seductively. First a cool, tonic entrance before the heart glows with warmth – round, complete, and lasting. The cedar base is hauntingly sylvan, adding another layer of realism to the scene. Grange is remarkably approachable, and we agree with Nir: even if you are a newcomer to niche fragrance, this is a great place to begin your exploration because it’s comfortable, chic, naturalistic and unique.

Grange notes: Mexican lime, Sicilian orange, fig, tobacco, American cedar

Perfumology L'Ima

Perfumology Fragrances L’Ima 2019: If only golden summer could linger all year long! It can if you surround yourself with Nir’s aromatic tribute to his mother (Ima in Hebrew) Tali’s Garden – replete with fruits, flowers, herbs and vegetables. L’Ima is awash with citrus, a spicy little peppermint note to offset dulcet lemon verbena (verveine) and simply gorgeous blossoms. I’m particularly fond of the tomato leaf and the subtle employment of resinous materials which could easily overwhelm this composition in less skilled hands. There’s no substitute for orris or ambrette: their enduring delicacy blends beautifully with sandalwood.

L’Ima notes: lemon, orange, pomelo, peppermint, lemon verbena, tomato leaf, geranium, orris, neroli, lily, rose, ambrette, elemi, cardamom, amber, copaiba, cashmere, sandalwood, white musk

Perfumology Fragrances Sudu Te perfume review

Perfumology Fragrances Sudu Te 2021: Tali Guy’s travels to Sri Lanka resulted in one of the most lyrical exotic perfumes that successfully evokes a tropical scenario with a tender, light-hearted touch. Many resinous, spicy florals hit one hard and don’t spare the patchouli – but Sudu Te isn’t one of them. Invigorating green mango meets grape-rose lychee garnished with mandarin; potent spices are deftly insinuated, not cudgeled. An elegant white tea note finds itself garlanded with jasmine sambac and frangipani while the creamy subtlety of massoia bark cozies up to benzoin and a fine Australian sandalwood. Limpid and tenacious, Sudu Te is an aromatic example of how to surprise and delight without weight.

Sudu Te Notes: green mango, lychee, mandarin, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, white tea, jasmine sambac, frangipani orchids, cardamom, coriander, aquatic notes, massoia bark (coconut wood), benzoin, Australian sandalwood

It bears noting that all three Perfumology Fragrances are parfum strength – and each is absolutely gender-fluid. I wear them, my husband wears them – and while they read very differently on us, they continue to bring much pleasure.

My bottles were received as gifts over the years – many thanks, dear Nir. I cherish them.  My nose is my own…

It nice to see a indie fragrance that can be worn equally well by both men and women and be pleasing to the general population. I’d love to win a bottle of Grange. I live in Maryland USA.

  • I enjoyed the descriptions of all of these fragrances, especially Sudu Te. The notes of green mango, nutmeg, clove, white tea, frangipani orchids and massoia bark sound interesting. Thanks again for another great article Ms Ida and the opportunity to sniff. Mich USA

  • Sara Levy says:

Grange intrigues me and I enjoyed reading about a new indie line and store. I wish them good luck. I live in the United States. Thanks for the drawing.

  • I am a fan of Perfumology’s fragrance releases- I’ve tried all five of their releases. I own a bottle of “Grange” and one of “L’Ima” and I do enjoy them. “Grange” might be my favorite one out of the five. I didn’t know that Mexican lime is in “Grange”; I perceive hyacinth in it when I smell it. “L’Ima” is one of my favorite fragrances to wear when I’m gardening. I truly like “Sudu Te” and that is the one I’d like to win since I enjoy it very much and because I don’t have a bottle of it yet. I live in the U.S.A.

  • punchflower says:

I’ve been looking for a unique spicy floral, and Sudu Te looks amazing. The green mango and lychee notes with white tea making a tropical spicy fragrance is a beautiful concept. Although as a gardener I enjoyed the lush green description of L’Ima, I would choose the Sudu Te. From US.

  • tessture says:

I adore new perfumers: they seem to bring fresh air to what is sometimes a game of same thing-different bottle! I think my favorite part of the article was seeing the notes descriptions: I am a sucker for notes lists. It’s like shopping for candy or jewelry.

  • I really enjoy the team aspect while creating something. Bouncing ideas off one another can lead to amazing things. I have never tried Perfumology, but I’m really interested! If I were to choose one I would go with Sudu Te, it sounds very unique. Thank you Nir Guy and Perfumology for the generous giveaway and good luck to everyone! Oklahoma, US

  • alleycat says:

I love naturalistic fruity scents so these all sound so good. Sudu Te appeals to me the most with those mango and lychee notes. USA

  • eaudepittsburgh says:

Visited Philly on the 18th and had an incredible experience at Perfumology. Nir is such a knowledgeable yet humble guy with an unparalleled selection of indie fragrances. I ended up walking away with a few fragrances, one of which was Sudu Te which I loved. From the samples however I have to say that Grange is very captivating – I would love to be entered to with that one!

  • Johnmc500 says:

L’lma sounds interesting and worth a try.
I have never been a big fan of mint notes.
I want to try this one.
    Oklahoma USA

  • Still haven’t got the chance to try any Perfumology Fragrances. I’d go with either Grange or l’ima. They both sound really nice
    Thanks, ca

  • Thank you Ida for the nice review. Particularly liked the description of each fragrance.
If selected, Sudu Te would be the one. I’ll buy it if not.
    Thanks again.

  • Thank you for bringing these fragrances too my attention! They all sounds wonderful but Sudu Te stands out as the perfume that appeals most to me. I enjoy tea notes immensely and am curious to smell this composition. ~Indiana, USA

  • I love Ida’s obvious enthusiasm and admiration for the brand. Her descriptions of all three scents are so enticing it is difficult to pick one. But, if I win, I’d like L’lma. I am in the US

  • Jake Dauod says:

I am quite drawn to the names. Not necessarily for the meaning, but they are just unique looking. I also love the that the concentration is listed. If I were to win, I would love Sudu Te. The notes are to die for! I absolutely love cinnamon, nutmeg, and I would have never thought to combine mango with them. The fragrance sounds truly unique and I would love to try it. L’Ima sounds truly unique as well, but as soon as I saw the notes for Sudu Te I knew that I wanted to get my nose on it. Kind regards from IL, USA.

  • GennyLeigh says:

These all sound lovely and as the 25% concentration for all three is exciting. I’m most interested in the Sri Lankan influenced Sudu Te. The exotic fruits and tropical flowers seem to get a lift from the tea note. I’m not familiar with massoia bark from the coconut tree but that seems like it would provide an appropriate base for the composition. MD, USA.

  • I enjoyed most contrasting the three descriptions then making my choice. If picked I’d like to have the L’Ima. US

  • Beautiful description of Nir’s incredibly delicate yet powerful fragrances. Had the pleasure of smelling Sudu Te recently and it holds space in my mind as once of the best scents I have smelled in a while. If chosen, I would pick L’ima as it would be a beautiful perfume to wear into the spring and summer!

  • I love that they have 25% concentration. The longevity is probably amazing! Of the 3 scents, I am really drawn to Perfumology Fragrances L’Ima 2019, particularly because of that tomato leaf note. It gives such a fresh, earthy smell to a fragrance. And it’s not common in most scents. I think L’Ima sounds like the perfect, fresh fragrance for summer.

  • petergigov says:

Out of the 3 Perfumology fragrances, I think Sudu Te will suit me the most. The tropical fruits, woody base and the tea is something I know I’d like.
    “elegant white tea”
I like drinking tea , but I’m nowhere near an expert. I can’t distinguish OK tea , from really good, or incomparable and elegant White varieties. I trust Ida Meister, and her reviews , she’s impressed by Sudu Te, to me that’s enough.
    Nice giveaway, USA
    Regards

  • foreverscents says:

I liked how Ida vividly encapsulated the highlights of the three fragrances in three short paragraphs. All three sound wonderful, but I would choose Grange for its lime and tobacco notes….also I enjoyed my teenage shenanigans.

    I live in the USA.

  • joetelegram says:

Thank you Ida for these three great reviews. It’s amazing to see that you contributed to the creative direction of L’Ima and Sudu Te. Did I read that correctly?

Grange: I’m intrigued by the thought of tobacco, citrus, and booze here. I also like how you made the connection to rebellious youth. I also appreciate that you classify this as an entry level frag.

L’lma: This fragrance screams summer! I like the appeal to a fresh and verdant garden. How wonderful!

Sudu Te: My wife is a fragrance junky because of her travels in the Middle East. I can imagine how Sudu Te really conjures up the reminiscence of Sri Lanka for the perfumer. I wonder what my wife would think of this one?

My wife, my mother in law, and I share a love for perfumery. I never dreamed that there would be so many fragrances that take on gender fluidity. I’m really happy fragrance can do that.

Thank you CaFleureBon and Perfumology for the opportunity.

I 100% agree, on point clarification
Grange is VERY different on me , and on my girlfriend . On her it’s cozy and sweet fig , with indeed lovely tobacco, but on me it’s ultra dry humidor tobacco, and cedar, with bare minimum of non-sweet fig leaves lurking in the background. The way Grange smells on me ,has nothing to do with approachability , but it’s almost butch .
Nir is such a great guy. I’ve been to Perfumology a couple of times.Ordered total of 12 bottles there. Service is also great. If i have to rate Perfumology i would give the boutique 9.5 .
The person who brought me to Perfumology was MrSillage , passionate about fragrances YouTube reviewer . Unfortunately he’s no longer with us, RIP Chris .
Own Grange , Blyss and Clutch – i really like all 3.
Now the price of all 3 is $95 , but when i bought Blyss the price was a bit less – $85. I can’t stop thanking Nir for not raising the prices a lot more, like some other niche, and indie brands did last 2 years.
I like quality tea , I like mango , and even though I’m a big time extrovert, sometimes I’d like to be alone, on a quiet day with a book in my hand. In those moments I’d wear Sude Te
    Just followed @frederico_parfums , the other profiles I already follow , @waltherp99bg

  • I have purchased samples from Perfumology, but never tried their fragrances. Ida’s review made it easy for me to see which one to sample first: Grange. I am in the US.

  • I am curious about tomato leaf note in a perfume so my first choice would be Perfumology Fragrances L’Ima 2019. Enjoyed reading about the different features of the three perfumes Ida reviewed here. I haven’t tried this brand before. Thanks for the review and draw. From USA.

  • I appreciate Ida’s review for introducing me to Perfumology Fragrance and their offerings. L’Ima sounds like one for the summer. Sudu Te seems very tropical so a mixture of multiple notes and facets and lastly, Grange that seems to be a unique citrus.
If I win, I would love Grange.
    Maryland, US.

  • I’ve heard of Perfumology both on YouTube and on Cafleurebon . Never been there, or ordered from Nir , but all reviews and opinions about the store are positive.
Clutch is my collection , received it as gift ~2 years ago.
Clutch…is clutch – delivers every time . Smells like … sitting in front of a campfire , and eating some of my grandma’s cookies. Unusual fragrance, but really pleasing.
Ida reviews are always so inviting. If I happen to be the winner , I’d like to get Sudu Te , I’m looking forward for the tea , the mango and the sandalwood all together.
    Thanks for the draw

  • I really enjoyed reading about this this house of perfumery that is totally new to me. I liked the description of them 3, but the one that captivated the most to me was L’ima, because of the notes and how the composition blends making it a golden summer scent.
    I live in the USA.

  • Ida!!! ❤️❤️❤️ Everything your write is amazing!!! Perfumology is wonderful and their scents are lovely! My husband loves Clutch! Sudu Te has been on my “full bottle” list for a while! I love the white tea, lychee, and jasmine. Gorgeous! ❤️ I love that these fragrances are not gendered. Thank you for this amazing opportunity!

  • Michael Prince says:

I loved Ida’s review of Perfumology Fragrances Grange, L’Ima and Sudu Te. I’ve heard great things about all 3 of these fragrances in the fragrance community. Most notably Grange and L’Ima. I am from the USA. If I win I would love the try Grange.

  • Bubeto_GG says:

Happy owner of Grange , and i also know Clutch well – i bought a sample , with my bottle of Grange . Shipping was super fast , i’m happy with Perfumology service .
To me Clutch is a colder weather fragrance , Grange i wear all year round , and i think Sudu Te is for more for the summer.
Sudu Te attracts me with mango , white tea and sandalwood notes layered well , inviting fragrance i’d like to win
    Thank you for the opportunity

Sri Lanka is а beautiful country, with interesting cuisine , and as a lot people know also know as Spice Island.
Mango is wildly used in the local cuisine, in all kinds of dishes, from savory, salty , spicy, to desserts.Traditional for the country Mango Kesari , is always served with tea, what I imagined after reading Ida Meister take on Sudu Te.
Perfumology is one of the best places to buy fragrances in the States.Cardboard type of material instead of boxes for their own fragrances, so they can keep the price low, is a nice idea. I own Grange , and I do prefer to get Sudu Te
Appreciate Ida’s 3 mini reviews , and the giveaway campaign
    USA

  • I love Ida’s reviews. She has such a gift with language. For example, her remark about Sudu Te that the “potent spices are deftly insinuated, not cudgeled.” Love it! If I won, I would have to go with that fragrance. I’ve never smelled Massoia bark before. cheers from NC USA

  • sephrenia300 says:

Lovely review Ida! What I enjoyed most about Ida’s review is the idea of an exotic, spicy floral that is nevertheless soft tender and light-hearted. it’s true that most resinous, spicy florals, my favorite genre by the way, hit hard and intense. The idea of a lighter one sounds like an absolutely perfect twist and the perfect addition to my wardrobe – not overlapping with any of the many that I already own. if I were to win I would like to win Sudu Te 2021 while my second choice would be L’Ima 2019. I live in the US.

  • It is very interesting how Nir and Justin work together and draw from experiences to create such appealing fragrances! I would love to enter the draw for Sudu Te!

  • msnitechemist says:

I liked the descriptions Ida gave of Grange, L’Ima, and Sudu Te. Each of them evoked a memory that isn’t my own but as if I could have lived any or all of them. The one that spoke to me the most was Sudu Te because of my East Asian heritage and my familiarity with the fruits and spices of the region. Thank you for the giveaway, I live in the US.

  • IvanVelikov says:

Delicately balanced fresh and delightful fragrance – Sudu Te , vs “Illicit cigarettes, a lovely tobacco and boozy soft fig” – Grange, my current dilemma. I’ll go with with the woody , sweet tobacco with Illicit cigarettes vibe, Grange please
Also 25 percent concentration is a big plus for me.
Unfortunately i have not tried PERFUMOLOGY fragrances up until now . As far as i know they are not available at other stores in US . Something to consider imo.
Thank you Ida , Nir Guy and PERFUMOLOGY

Thank you for the great review Ida. I appreciated how these reviews capture the very essence of the fragrance. I can easily imagine how the scent of these fragrances is gonig to evolve.
I remember reading about Nir Guy here on CFB and I’m very excited to see his fragrances come to life. Wishing him many years of success.

I would love to win either L’Ima or Sudu Te. I was particularly touched by the story and the note combinations behind L’Ima.

    Cheers from WI, USA
