Today, Christmas Day 2019, CaFleureBon has the pleasure of announcing the official launch of a new fragrance, Parfums de Nicolai Angelys Pear. For Madame Patricia de Nicolai, nature is an unlimited source of inspiration and for the upcoming Parfums de Nicolai Angelys Pear, (her 31st year as a niche perfumer and for the Nicolai brand).  In my interview in 2014 with Madame de Nicolai I asked:

What Parfum de Nicolai fragrance was the most challenging for you to create?

PdN: ”It’s always a challenge for me to create a fragrance. But if I had to choose one, I will say Musc Intense. The musk note is much used in our business, but mainly when creating oriental and animalic fragrances. For my ‘musk’, I tried a different path—one paved with flowers (Rose, violet and carnation), starting with a fruity note (pear). The rose essence has a delicious williamine (pear liquor) scent which why I added fruity notes. Fortunately, it was a success. Musc Intense is indeed one of our bestsellers.”

Madame de Nicolai always loved the pear note that opens Musc Intense (launched in 2012).  She made a promise to herself she would create a fragrance using this great pear base and nearly ten years later, on January 27, 2020, the niche house debuts Parfums de Nicolai Angelys Pear. The pear fruit appeared in Europe during the time of the Roman Empire. Since then, the pear became the “fruit of the castles “and it was a sign of high social distinction, and especially in the Loire Valley in France, where great castles can be found.  The word Angelys refers to the city of Angers – in the Loire Valley – and the lys, the symbolic flower of French kings.

“Parfums de Nicolai Angelys Pear has a fresh and juicy pear note accentuated by a bouquet of rose and jasmine, highlighted by oakmoss. With the beauty of light, the purity of air, and a calm, serene ambience, this EDT perfectly illustrates the softness of France’s fabled Loire Valley. A sweet, fresh fragrance with an intense heart, and a lingering trail that reveals a pleasant hint of chypre.”

Price 100 ml of  Parfums de Nicolai Angelys Pear EDT: 138 EUR ($157 USD)/ 30 ml: 46 EUR ($52)

  • Oh I love a great pear note. Will have to seek this out. I love that they offer 30ml bottles. ❤

  • Pear sounds amazing. That’s incredible that it is in musc intense which is my favorite along with cap neroli
I cannot wait to smell this

  • Never smelled a pear fragrance before, will definitely need to check this one out! Thanks for the review. Regards from Boston.

  • Can’t wait to try it. Love many of her scents. I wear Sacrebleu every Thanksgiving and Christmas. Thanks for the news.

Sounds interesting. So few perfumes use pear as the main note. I hope they use less citrus than pera granita.

  • Can we take a moment to appreciate the loveliness of the presentation picture? Pears, roses, soft pastel hues of green and baby pink… if the fragrance smells anywhere near that, it must be heaven. Thanks for the lovely review.

This sounds really lovely! I love pear but I don’t believe I own any pear-centric fragrances. I will have to seek this one out!

I definitely will be on the lookout for this one…. a good pear note is great, to me! There are quite a few pear notes in the designer world, but when it is done in a niche fragrance, that is where it’s at! I need to try this one along with Patricia’s other newer release, Baikal Leather Intense… I know it is not in line with the pear theme here, but a winner, I’m sure! Thanks for news on the latest from Parfums de Nicolai, Michelyn!

It’s quite difficult to come across a musk dominant fragrance that sits well on most people’s skins so I understand why it’s so hard to build a musk dominant fragrance to make it a best seller. Congrats!
