Thierry Bernard is the adventurous soul behind Parfumeurs du Monde, a perfumer who approaches his craft like an archaeologist, digging deep into the world of fragrance ingredients. With decades of experience and recognition as a Master Perfumer by the French Society of Perfumers, Thierry brings a unique blend of scientific knowledge and sheer passion to his creations. After earning his PhD in chemistry, he moved to Martinique, where he became known as “The Perfumer,” crafting exotic scents from the island’s rich natural resources. Returning to France, he launched ‘myfragrance.fr’ to educate others on the art of scent, and in 2016, he founded Parfumeurs du Monde, a brand that unites perfumers from all over the world, giving them creative freedom to explore one ingredient, one story, one country at a time. Each perfume is a testament to Thierry’s love for nature, his relentless curiosity, and his commitment to keeping the spirit of natural perfumery alive.

Patrice Revillard perfumer

In an interview with Michelyn, back in 2022, Patrice Revillard said: “Although few of my perfumes on the market pay tribute to flowers for the moment, I love to rebuild their scent to understand how they are made. Try to capture the beauty of their smell to keep in bottles the memories to which they are attached. It’s a kind of personal work for the moment.”

Just one year after, Patrice Revillard’s dream to pay homage to flowers came to life with a project received from Thierry Bernard – a project that pushed both the creative and technical boundaries with a gardenia fragrance made entirely from natural ingredients, with no synthetics in sight. And so, Parfumeurs du Monde Blanc de Chine was born – a fragrance named after the renowned Chinese porcelain that is adored for its pure, translucent, milky-white color.

Blanc de Chine porcelain captures light in a way that feels almost magical, with a soft translucence that seems to glow from within – its surface is smooth and delicate, its beauty ethereal—intricate yet simple, pure and milky white. Just looking at this fine porcelain makes your palms curve almost as if you could feel its smooth texture even without touching it. I can’t think of a better name and inspiration than Blanc de Chine for an all-natural take on the elusive smell of gardenia. “A milky white porcelain flower with an unforgettable visual beauty and a complex olfactory power. A rhyme of thick and hypnotic petals that time is slowly rooting with sensual fumes. Disconcerting, heady and exotic, the gardenia distills the provocative character of white flowers, both untamable and languid.” – Parfumeurs du Monde Blanc de Chine as put into words by Patrice Revillard.

Parfumeurs du Monde Blanc de Chine starts with a solar gardenia, etched in the golden touch of osmanthus with its fruity-juicy facets – making it buzz with life and blush in the soft hues of gentile apricots and the fuzzy tingle of the peaches. Tinged in green, a lush wet aroma rises from the rain-drenched foliage – mouth-wateringly alive, earthy, rich. Not long after, the heart wraps in a bouquet that is both ethereal and carnal, with orange blossom and ylang-ylang slowly bringing to life all the deep and velvety facets that make gardenia one of the most loved flowers. The animalic side of gardenia draws its perfectly manicured claws with the help of a sultry jasmine, making it rounder, carnal, and drop-dead gorgeous.

Elusive yet present, velvety and smooth, creamy and sensual, our imagined perfect gardenia brings to the stage all its personalities, all taking a bow before the curtain falls and the stage slowly darkens and heats up in the presence of a hazy veil of resins and balms. Parfumeurs du Monde Blanc de Chine is one exquisite interpretation of gardenia, capturing the flower’s ethereal beauty in a fragrance that feels both naturally organic and artistically crafted  – a true testament to the power of an all-natural perfume*.

Top notes: Sage, Osmanthus; Heart notes: Ylang ylang, Jasmine, Orange blossom; Base notes: Sandalwood, Benzoin, Opoponax, Styrax

  • Everything from the bottle to the package screams natural and organic. I was expecting this to be a milky fragrance based on the name but reading the story about how he wants each fragrance to focus on one flower and one country then I realized I was wrong. Gardenias so have a very distinct smell compared to other flowers and we see that here on display. When you mix it with kites such as osmanthus, other flowers like jasmine and benzoin at the base then the fragrance starts to transition. Creamy, indolic and balsamic throughout its life, Blanc De Chine showcases the philosophy behind the brand. A true amazing creation! Cheers from the US.

  • Very curious about this white flowers 100% natural fragrance. Gardenia is such an interesting scent to explore and Parfumeurs du Monde is always an exciting house to follow, not mentioning that Patrice Revillard is a very talented perfumeur.
    I live in Germany.

  • Wow, Nicoleta’s description of the gardenia in Blanc de Chine really pulled me in! The way she talks about the mix of creamy, sensual petals and that lush green, earthy vibe makes me imagine standing in a blooming garden after the rain. Plus, I’ve always loved white florals with a bit of an animalic twist, and it sounds like this one really nails that balance. I need to try it!

  • I’m obsessed with the idea of a solar gardenia that’s both carnal and ethereal, just like Nicoleta described! The touch of osmanthus and those peachy-apricot notes sound like the perfect fruity contrast to the white florals. And the fact that it’s 100% natural makes me even more curious—so rare to find that with such complexity!

  • Ahhh, my heart longs to smell this beauty…! Nicoleta painted it in the most beautiful, evocative words. I am an avid fan of white florals, and this magical concoction of gardenia, ylang and jasmine, with playful touches of stone fruit, just creates a vision of femininity, candor and timeless grace, captured in a bottle.
It’s also intriguing to read this is an all-natural perfume, like all from the house. I have very little experience with natural perfumery and I would really love to smell the “real deal” aromas from all these flowers and complementary notes.

I loved this beautifully worded review and the love for gardenia shows. All the elements in this fragrance seem to me to enhance and cradle the dynamic nature of the gardenia. I would love to test this one out, it sounds sexy and not at all reserved. I live in Oregon.

  • What stands out to me is her vivid description of the fragrance’s delicate balance between floral and woody notes. She mentions how the perfume evokes a sense of serenity and purity, reminiscent of a peaceful landscape.i live in Trzebnica, Poland, EU.

  • Oh you’ve managed to write about two of my greatest passions, natural perfume and ceramics. I completely agree that Blanc de Chine is a perfect glaze and style to inspire a white floral and specifically Gardenia because they both have this creaminess. This enticing creamy richness that isn’t heavy but is commanding. Beautiful!!! I can’t wait to try this, I adore a Gardenia fragrance.
I am in California, thank you for the generous give away!

I love the description of Blanc de Chine porcelain and how the fragrance got his name. I think it’s a fantastic name!! Love the interpretation of gardenia with the ylang ylang and fruit. Sounds heavenly! – NYC, NY

  • I’m thrilled to see more exposure for this brand, as I find most of their creations to be truly exquisite. I’m not one to be fond of gardenia scents, but being an all natural creation makes and the ethereal qualities it seems to convey according to Nicoleta’s review makes me eager to want to experience it.

Thanks for the review and the draw

  • It sounds like an opulent, rich, mature perfume. However I am pretty sure it is more than that. Something in the way Nicoleta described the perfume makes me think of it as a mysterious fragrance. Love that!

  • This sounds wonderful. I love how one man’s interest gave rise to his investigation then to his passion, which he then passed on to another leading to a synergy of fragrance. As I said, this fragrance sounds wonderful – white and yellow flowers balanced with benzoin and sandalwood – simply marvelous!

  • Shibuichi2000 says:

I came to love gardenia in fragrances, although I have never smelled the real flower. Hope I won’t get disappointed when I will :).
I’d be interested to see what a 100% scent smells like, especially one made by individuals so driven by their passion, so careful with the environment.
Since I have been ‘playing’ for a while with porcelain, this review reminded me a bit of how fragile it is and what lightness of hand one must have in order to see the product in its final and splendid beauty.

Blanc de Chine a wonder of chinese feminine freshness and elegance with osmanthus, ylang ylang, jasmine, orange blossom. Wonderful mix! I am from EU

  • Danu Seith-Fyr says:

How gorgeous is this writing, I could feel the silken cool Porcelain alight under my hands and a gardenia of this magnitude given the Parfumeurs du Monde treatment gifts a perfume of rare and translucent beauty.
Thank you Nicoleta. I live in SW France.

  • White China is a remarkable fresh and smooth floral. I picture this wearing very light but also sticking with you for a long time. From opening to the base this is a complete mystery to me. The visual story hopefully coincides with its overall smell and presentation. Would love to own, from Jacksonville, NC.

  • Only a really knowledgeable and talented perfumer could make a realistic gardenia fragrance completely from natural fragrances with no synthetics. The evolution of the “gardenia” scent in Blanc de Chine from solar to green to carnal to animalic is a master class in the flower. This sounds lovely. MD, USA.

  • LuRon Anderson says:

What interests me regarding this fragrance is the fruity component along with resinous notes. I can’t wait to try this!

  • Gardenia is the underdog of florals, in my opinion. I love how well it takes the shape of other notes that surround it, highlighting them while invoking its own charm. In this case I believe it would work in tandem with the resins and sandalwood, providing a luxuriously creamy veil. I’d love to try it. Best of luck to all. I live in NC, USA.

  • Gardenia for me is a heaven scent. Having read that Patrice Revillard’s dream to pay homage to flowers came to life with a gardenia fragrance made entirely from natural ingredients, with no synthetics in sight made me super curious and excited to sense it.
    Thank you! From EU.

  • Reading about Blanc de Chine by Parfumeurs du Monde instantly captivated me. I love the idea of a fragrance that captures the elusive beauty of gardenia in such a pure and natural way. Patrice Revillard’s approach to crafting this scent without synthetics is fascinating, and it really shows the artistry behind natural perfumery. The way Nicoleta describes the creamy, sensual gardenia wrapped in osmanthus and earthy resins makes me feel like I can almost smell its richness. I also appreciate the brand’s commitment to sustainability and ethical sourcing—it adds a deeper meaning to the beauty of the fragrance itself. This perfume feels like a true masterpiece, both in its craftsmanship and connection to nature.

  • A very thoughtful intro of the brand and its creator – anyone who goes such great length to create sustainably, environment friendly and passionately deserves more exposure.
As for Blanc de Chine, I’m sure it’s as poetic and ethereal as Nicoleta’s beautiful writing style.
Thank you for the review and the draw, from Europe.

  • A gardenia by Patrice Revillard, I want it! If he managed to do with gardenia what he did with Jacques Fath’s iris. I absolutely have to have it. I like this part of the text: “Parfumeurs du Monde Blanc de Chine is one exquisite interpretation of gardenia, capturing the flower’s ethereal beauty in a fragrance that feels both naturally organic and artistically crafted – a true testament to the power of an all-natural perfume.” I live in France, EU

  • Natural perfumes are often impressive in their own right, but a natural gardenia is quite unique. The Blanc de Chine porcelain inspiration is fitting and memorable. I noted that this solar gardenia fragrance has a wet, green aspect, which better captures the white flower in its environment (and reminds me of INeKE’s Hothouse Flower). This one sounds lovely.

    I’m in the USA.

  • I’ve been wanting to try Parfumeurs du Monde for some time now, so this would be an amazing introduction to the brand.
I like how they brought together a group of passionate, independent perfumers to create 100% natural fragrant tales.

what sparked my interest is the fact Blanc de Chine is one exquisite interpretation of gardenia, capturing the flower’s ethereal beauty in a fragrance that feels both naturally organic and artistically crafted – a true testament to the power of an all-natural perfume.

  • The heart notes: Ylang ylang, Jasmine, Orange blossom are some of my favorite notes in perfumes, so that’s what really sparked my interest in Parfumeurs du Monde Blanc de Chine.

Also, from Nicoleta’s review I just loved this part: “Elusive yet present, velvety and smooth, creamy and sensual, our imagined perfect gardenia brings to the stage all its personalities, all taking a bow before the curtain falls and the stage slowly darkens and heats up in the presence of a hazy veil of resins and balms.”

  • Pure, white and ethereal is the quality that gardenia inspired fragrances draws me in for. I live in the EU

  • I love flowery and fruity perfumes, but this one must be powerful: am so curious about the velvety, smooth, creamy and sensual gardenia and of its indolic aspect.
Thank you for such an engaging review

How interesting! I have always associated gardenias with porcelain. The creamy whiteness of the petals is just like the finest Chinese tea cups or plates. I am always on the search for a gardenia perfume that is ethereal yet carnal. Blanc de Chine, a natural fragrance, sounds like my dream gardenia perfume.
