Shelley Waddington, of En Voyage Perfumes, has just opened a brand new website!
She was kind enough to send me beautiful photographs, a sample of Peche Noir, and a list of the notes she used.
Shelley’s intention was to create a smoldering, smoky juicy chypre that is
“evocative of an elegant second skin”.
To paraphrase the words of perfumer Michel Roudnitska, the Fragrance industry has been sadly remiss in their refusal to acknowledge authorship (of the noses behind fragrances) at point of sale. With the upcoming launch of Kenzo EDT for Women and for Men, that is about to change.
Few have it, others envy it. Those who posses it can go mad. In a musicians world this is called “perfect pitch”. Absolute Pitch, as defined by Wikipedia…is the ability of a person to identify or recreate a musical note without the benefit of an external reference.
The Perfumer’s equivalent of Absolute Pitch is the “Natural Nose”. In his own words Perfumer Christopher Brosius can “blend in my head as opposed to doing it in a flock of little bottles. ”
The indomitable Christopher Brosius has created a wonderful perfume called “Mr. Hulot’s Holiday” reminding one of salty ocean air, battered leather suitcases, and rocks covered with seaweed
Perfumers have scented public ambiences such as operas, theaters, dance stages and even the fountains of Versailles; we hope that scenting catwalks will bring something lost from past generations, when a designer’s or a brand’s name on the bottle meant more than signing a licensing contract.
