When I heard Neil Morris had a new Earthtones scent, and that I was receiving a sample, I was overjoyed as I was already in love with North Woods (Earthtones #3)! When I heard it was a “tropical lagoon” scent; however, I was less than enthused.

Fields of Rubus is definitely more “yin” (darker, cooler, elegant and more feminine), yet has that small amount of more intense yang in its core. Wood Haven captures more of the “yang” (brighter, spicier, more Spartan and masculine).
A few months ago, I was sent a sample of perfume by Maggie Mahboubian of Parfums Lalun called Acqua di Callitis. I unearthed the sample she had sent me and decided to give it a try. I am glad I waited, because it is the perfect scent for right now, when I have a few coveted warm days ahead.
Pierre Guillaume has been fascinating me with his Huitieme Art Parfums line from the beginning. I’ve always found the best of the Huitieme Art Parfums as studies in the possibilities of the central ingredient and the newest and tenth member of the Huitieme Art Parfums family, Podre de Riz is an excellent example of what I am talking about.
