From the beginning of Francis Kurkdjian’s eponymous Maison Francis Kurkdjian line he has released paired fragrances, pour femme and pour homme. A new pair has been released by M. Kurkdjian called Amyris Pour Femme and Pour Homme and he has again achieved a fascinating duality around the titular note of Amyris.
Five years ago, I was told by a prominent perfumer that 75% of all fragrances are created by white, French men (I am fairly certain that our “perfumista” readers would recognize the faces of male perfumers more easily than their female colleagues (many of our readers would recognize his face).
I’m not sure what caught my eye about Eaudemoiselle de Givenchy. The bottle has a simple, almost vintage sweetness to it that I enjoy, and the name is a cute play on words. Eaudemoiselle is a sweet, rosy scent that opens with a pretty big bang.
I felt like the Joan of Arc of scent as I entered the Setai, NYC. When I pushed through the revolving doors, my daydream armor instantly dissolved into a veil, as my body was confronted, changed, comforted, and inspired by……. air, scented air, scented air that seemed to cut through the space.
