Nishane Tempfluo Review (Anne Flipo) 2022 “White Isle Memories”

Nishane Tempfluo

It is said that once you experience Ibiza you keep a part of it in your heart for eternity. Since 1997 it has been etched in my memory and this year, I returned to the White Island eager in anticipation. Not only was serenity, relaxation, and dance on the agenda; this time I wanted to explore what fragrances people were using to express themselves. What I found was a mix of the commercial designer and a huge artistic surprise.

The range of people was evident and there was positivity in abundance. From the sunset at Mambos to the cauldron of Amnesia the sensorial experience was epic. There were the usual suspects such as Dior Sauvage and Lancôme La Vie Est Belle now joined by Mancera’s Instant Crush and Byredo Bal D’Afrique as the scents which seemed to pervade the streets and cafes most frequently. All these perfumes have their place, and their commercial appeal is obvious, but these seemed the tourist choice, whilst many locals plumped for Loewe Esencia EDP my friends wore Initio Rehab and Hermes Terre d’Hermes. So which scent made a significant impact on me personally?

Whilst at Amnesia I had the pleasure of getting to know people from many diverse cultures; Israel, Poland, and Italy to name but few. One lady I met in the chill out area happened to be a fellow perfumista and we discussed which fragrances we were wearing, I opted for Amouage Silver Oud which cut beautifully through the cool night air whereas she had chosen Nishane Tempfluo by perfumer Anne Flipo (ISIPCA / IFF) from their new Time Capsule Collection. The first niche brand from Istanbul was founded by Mert Guzel and Murat Katran in 2012,  (shown to the fragrance word at Esxence 2015) and has reached great popularity amongst perfume enthusiasts. This was such a brilliant choice as the night was a 20-year reunion of trance classics. Tempfluo means ‘Time Flow’ in Esperanto implying that the passage of time is an illusion. We all live but once and the vibe was to seize the moment and be at one with everyone.

On my return to the UK, I immediately purchased Nishane Tempfluo at Harvey Nichols and was mesmerised by the blend of spice, florals, and gourmand aspects. The opening reminds me of the balmy sunset at Mambos with the mixture of bergamot oil, mandaring and saffron creating a spacious blaze of orange in my mind. The heart of the fragrance develops with jasmine sambac absolute, orange flower and a luscious praline which whirls around one like a haze of purplish tones. The base of cashmere wood, cedarwood and vanilla gives a powerful finish and crescendo to the perfume it has a musky aura such as walking into the depths of a super club in full flow, lasers and booming sounds morphing one’s perceptions and bringing a euphoric experience.

Nishane Tempfluo is definitely a statement maker. It brings that end of summer happy vibe and being an Extrait de Parfum performs magnificently. A wonderful accompaniment to my memories of a spiritual home and place with a special significance for me.

Notes: Bergamot Oil, Mandarin, Saffron, Jasmine Sambac Absolute, Orange Flower, Praline, Cashmere Wood, Cedarwood, Vanilla.

Disclaimer: bottle of Nishane Tempfluo purchased by Karl. Thoughts are my own. Available in the UK at Harvey Nicols.
