Nicolaï Parfumeur-Createur Iris Medicis Intense Review (Patricia de Nicolaï) 2023 + Florentine Giveaway

Nicolaï Parfumeur-Createur Iris Medicis Intense 2023

Nicolaï Parfumeur-Createur Iris Medicis Intense via the brand

According to Roman myth, Iris slid to earth on a rainbow. She landed, apparently, in Tuscany, where she spread her wild roots and grew prolifically throughout the region. Indeed, the fleur-de-lis, or giglio, became the official emblem of Florence in the 13th century, where it was printed on Florentine currency and subsequently emblazoned on tapestries, etched in stonework, crafted into jewelry and fashion, and painted into the backgrounds of innumerable royal portraits. Today, it is impossible to wander Florence without seeing fleur-de-lis edifices and frescoes across the venerable city. And, find yourself in this lovely city in springtime, and you may catch its unmistakably lovely scent drifting from the many gardens where it still grows. But if a trip to Florence is out of the question, here’s the next best thing: a bottle of Nicolaï Parfumeur-Createur new Iris Médicis Intense. Verdant, creamy-sweet with a savory saffron undertone, this is a gorgeously feminine iris with an unexpected masculine edge that could have been sported by Catherine, Lorenzo and Cosimo.

Madame recently explained the genesis of Iris Médicis Intense in an exclusive quote to  Editor-in-Chief, Michelyn Camen:

“I always wanted to create a fragrance dedicated to iris, one of the rarest and most noble raw materials in the perfumer’s palette. However, although iris butter is rich and intense, it remains a discreet skin scent and working on the longevity of an iris perfume is quite challenging. It took me time to create this fragrance as my main idea was to focus and the longevity of the perfume. After many trials and combinations, I finally decided to combine the iris with a powdery violet and the sweetness of orange blossom. By adding violet and my favorite ingredient neroli, I discovered a lovely vibrancy! A warm sandalwood-musk-vanilla background, enhanced by a saffron leather, brings strength, sillage and a lingering trail.”

Few perfumers working today can match Patricia de Nicolaï’s precision. One of the lovely things about Iris Médicis Intense is the way each note is given the space and time to fully unfold so that you can smell them in procession – a characteristic I often find in her compositions – while they simultaneously loom together like a tapestry. Loads of orris butter open the perfume, crowning the fragrance with their mournful pastry and violet powder sweetness. Flowery neroli, just slightly sudsy, comes immediately after and travels alongside the iris, buoying the star blossom’s creamy sweetness without overshadowing it. A decided dab of bright, acidic green from galbanum gives a piquant contrast and, along with orange blossom, creates the aura of a Florentine giardino.

In the perfume’s heart, a surprise: saffron, dusty and spiced, begins to course like a warm pulse. Glove leather soon joins the saffron, imbuing Iris Médicis Intense with an aromatic robustness I have not come across in an iris perfume before. The savory elements feel quintessentially Florentine to me – the tannic redolence of leather, one of the chief trades of the city historically, and the exotic, old world smell of saffron, hint of ancient times. Next, the fresh, delicate sweetness of carrot drifts through the savory notes like a zephyr, and the dark, woodsy smell of violet makes its way into the center.

An hour after the first spray, I reassess. In its drydown Nicolaï Parfumeur-Createur Iris Medicis Intense keeps its eponymous ingredient squarely in the center of the fragrance, bordered by aromatic puffs of saffron, greenery and gentle citrus blossoms. And it lingers in this manner for several hours. To celebrate its Renaissance spirit, I am reapplying Iris Médicis Intense as I play Monteverdi on the stereo and plot my trip to Pitti Fragranze in a few weeks. As I close my eyes, the sun beats hotly, the concrete beneath my balcony gives way to images of Florentine streets, and I trace the outline of the fleur-de-lis among the passing clouds.

Notes: Galbanum essence, carrot seeds essence, iris butter, orange flower absolute, neroli essence, Violet, Sandalwood essence, leather accord, vanilla absolute, musk.

  • I was struck reading that Patricia focused on the longevity of the creation as a main idea. I enjoy several from the line. US

  • I love the story behind this brand and I’ve always wanted to try. I love iris and butter combo (in teory). I’m sure this is masterfully created. I’m from EU.

  • WeAreScentient says:

this sounds all kinds of iris opluence! Ive not been to Florence but I feel after this description smelling itwould take me there. I’m a big fan of Nicolaï Parfumeur-Createur’s perfumes but New York Intense is hard to beat. Beautiful review 🙂
Im as usual bubblin in Dublin

  • The idea of an iris that lasts sounds very attractive. I have and love several Nicolai fragrances, so I certainly want to try this one.

  • Aimee L’Ondee says:

Thanks for the draw! What struck me about the review is: the Florence associations, since that is my favorite city in the world, and the saffron note, which always makes a perfume more attractive in my book. I don’t have any favorite Nicolas perfumes yet, and I live in the US.

  • oh my god i would love to win this perfume, Patricia from Nicolai is one of my favorite perfumers. Patchouli Intense was the first perfume I bought myself, I loved it so much and wore it. I then discovered New York and Incense oud and Neroli Intense. I loved them all. The iris is my raw material par excellence Iris Sylver Mist is for me the gold standard but knowing the talent of Mrs. Nicolai I am convinced that Iris Médicis Intense will clearly be a formidable challenger. In Lauryn’s review the last lines are so poetic, I love it! I live in France, EU

  • Florence is one of my favorite cities. I was completely enraptured by it. And I have a personal love for the Iris. Iris in perfume is always a winner. In maryland.

  • The warm sandalwood-musk-vanilla background strikes me, it sounds so cozy. I never tried this house so I don’t really have a favorite but just reading about Iris Medicis Intense really captivates me. It sounds like a perfect and full of harmony composition. I live in Trzebnica, Poland, EU.

  • BostonScentGuy says:

This sounds so incredibly beautiful! I love all the notes individually, but the thing that strikes me most is the comment about how each note has the air and time to unfold…and I think that describe’s Nicolai’s style so well! It makes me think of another airy/floral/animalic perfume of great contrasts that she’s made–Coeur en Mai (and similar in her own line). Of her line, I love New York, the Patchouli Intense, and Vie de Chateau. I love how skilled a perfumer she is in so many genres, from masculine chypres to green, light, substantial floral chypres to deep, resinous spicy ambers. Thanks for the generous draw! I’m in the US.

  • Reeeeally been enjoying Patricia’s New York Intense and Number One Intense lately. Who would’ve thought that, for a dude who originally detested the note of tuberose, a scent would come along that completely changed his mind? lol Now, along with Patchouli Intense, they’ve become my 3 favs. Quickly becoming one of my favourite artisanal brands too. I just seem to connect with Patricia’s work. Love the sound of what Lauryn describes as the space between the notes in this one. Completely agree that there is a progression to Patricia’s compositions. The journey is what makes them so interesting for me. Also intrigued with the mentioned “masculine edge”… Could it be the glove-like leather, greenery and saffron that give it that vibe? I’ll have to sample to be sure. Regardless, it sounds like Nicolai have another great fragrance on their hands. Always been a fan of orris scents, especially ones with an added green touch and a hint of vanilla. What can I say, it’s gotta be the Guerlain in me. lol And just like that, our connection becomes apparent! 😉 Cheers to another lovely review. Canada.

  • I just wanted to start off by saying that I love Patricia’s creation. This one looks to be a hit as well. The combination of iris and saffron sounds lovely. The neroli being there to give this a boost makes a lot of sense. I loved Neroli intense, so I’m hoping that it has the same effect in here.
    Cheers from Illinois, USA.

  • Lauryn says there is an aromatic robustiness in Nicolaï Parfumeur-Createur Iris Medicis Intense that she has not encountered in any other iris fragrance. The fragrance also has tanning leather aspects. My favorite from Nicolai is New York. I am in US.

  • As quoted in the review, iris is a truly noble ingredient in the world of perfumery. It’s ability to add such a silky, buttery texture to a fragrance is simply magical. I’m particularly curious about the masculine edge Lauryn mentioned. The idea of rich orris butter transitioning into saffron and leather just sounds wonderful. I can almost feel the scent. I have tried a few of Nicolai Parfumeur-Createur’s offerings, but have yet to own any. Of the ones I tried, I really enjoyed Cap Neroli (so zingy and bright) and Ambre Cashmere Intense (so cozy and comforting). Best of luck to everyone. I live in NC, USA.

  • I know only New York Intense from this house and is a very well executed fragrance, a timeless classic, signature scent potential. I wonder how others from the line compare to this masterpiece, if they are equally good or, who knows, maybe even better?
I love iris so I would love to give Iris Medicis Intense a try. Thanks!

  • FragranceIsMe says:

Oh my goodness. The notes in this sound wonderful. I am an Iris lover. Some of my favorites that I own from this house are Patchouli Intense, Caravanserial Intense, Kiss Me Intense and Fig Tree.

  • Whatever Madame wants, Madame gets…after many trials and many efforts, of course :).
I love iris in perfumes, I love it even so, delicate like a watercolor, but maybe I could, after all, love it more in a perfume that also leaves a trail.
Tuscany is beautiful, Florence has some sort of spell over me, probably because it’s long and rich history, and Iris Médicis Intense I bet it is dreamy.
Thanks for the review and the draw, from Europe.

  • Gnossiennes says:

Many thanks to Lauryn’s lovely review and Nicolai’s generosity!

It is always exciting to learn Mme. Nicolai’s new creations! Not only is she very prolific, but they are often impressive. Her Caravanserail Intense launched earlier this year is definitely on my annual top list.
As for Iris Medicis Intense, the saffron leather sounds very promising! While I was leaning to regard it as a classic leather, Mme. Nicolai’s former creations and her mention of sweet orange blossom convince me it will be modern and lively. It is even more thrilling to imagine the green accompanying this saffron accord!
Anyway, 100% look forward! Love from Shanghai.

  • I have not tried anything from Parfums de Nicolai, but this review of Iris Medicis made me really curious as Mme. Patricia de Nicolai seems to be the master at work. I love iris, therefore everything with iris is a must for me. Many thanks and good luck to everyone!

  • I love the idea of pairing the iris with saffron and leather as Lauryn described. My favorite Nicolaï is Kiss Me Intense so another rich floral is so appealing! I’m reading in the US and would be so excited to have a bottle of this!

  • Always nice to see another launch from Patricia de Nicolai, I very much love her perfumes, I own a few and always admired the classic quality and the price/quality ratio which is quite correct, in my opinion. That being said, I would love to try this one, iris is one of my favorites flowers and the smell recreated in perfumes is also a hit for me. Lauryn put the smell in the image of a Florentine garden and that I like a lot.
Thank you for the give away, I live in EU.

  • What striked me the most is the way each note in Iris Medicis Intense is given the space and time to fully unfold so that you can smell them in procession while they simultaneously loom together like a tapestry.
I love Néroli Intense by Nicolaï Parfumeur-Createur.

  • Nice review Lauryn! As I said when Michelyn introduced us this scent some weeks ago, Mme. Nicolai is tireless and she has built one of the best collections of the perfume world. This year also she gave us an amazing coffee, cinnamon, tonka scent. Now is Her/His Majesty the Iris as an hommage to Tuscany, Florence and the Medicis that ruled the territory. The Iris Florentine became the official emblem of Florence. The scent has a verdant, pastry-creamy-sweet with a savory saffron-leather undertone that last and linger ( Mme. Nicolai reminds us the problem of longevity in iris fragrances). I think interesting your opinion on how in Nicolai perfumes , often, each note is given space and time to unfold and shine so you smell them in procession . The amber spicy New York Intense and the japanese fresh Eau de Yuzu are my favorites. I live in Spain, EU.

  • Sorohan Adriana says:

The decision to combine the iris with a powdery violet and the sweetness of the orange blossom, adding violet and neroli has developed a wonderful fragrance!

  • Danu Seith-Fyr says:

Dear Lauryn, exceptional and how it draws my heart once again to that city of my heart and soul, so I thank you for that. Usually Iris has to be very well executed to grab my attention but here in the vivid combining of notes, there is a stirring of interest within me. A yearning to travel her streets within these perfumed folds.
The saffron and carrot intrigue, so thank you for your words and this offering. I live in SW France.

  • I love iris, neroli, orange blossom, this sounds wonderful. The reveal of the layers sounds so interesting. I’ll be setting myself a reminderto go online in September to look for this perfume. Thank you so much for the review abs the generous draw. I’m in the us

  • I absolutely love seeing my irises in bloom in my garden. I’m looking forward to getting my nose on Iris Medicis Intense. One of my favs from Nicolai Parfumeur Createur is Incense Oud. Thanks for your informative article and fantastic draw. Mich USA

  • I’ve been really into iris and leather lately, and I love Lauryn’s description of how the green and citrus elements dance around it. Thank you for the opporutnity to win a bottle! My favorite fragrance from Nicolaï Parfumeur-Createur of the ones I’ve tried is Fig Tea. I’m in MN, USA.

  • katyakotovskaya says:

What struck me the most from Lauryn’s review was the exquisite blend of floral notes and depth in the fragrance. How she described the intense iris and its captivating presence caught my attention. As for my favorite Nicolai Parfumeur-Createur fragrance, I have a soft spot for Patchouli Sublime – I just love its rich earthiness combined with subtle hints of sweetness. I live in Switzerland.

  • I love the precision of this design! The focus on longevity, vibrancy, the list of notes, it all sounds fabulous! I’m in the USA.

  • Saffron leather in the dry down sounds so interesting. No favourites from the Nicolai brand yet. I live in Canada.

  • It really sounds impressive.
As a lover of Baikal Leather Intense I think I will love Iris Medicis Intense even more because me, as Patricia, I’m a lover of Neroli.
    Thanks for the opportunity,
    Kind regards from Mexico!

  • Nicolai Parfumeur Createur has really grown on me lately. I have tried some of their fragrances and they all deliver fantastic quality and great aroma. My favorite one yet is Patchouli Intense.
Iris Medicis Intense is something I really need to try as a iris fragrance lover.
I love how the fragrance gives space to every note so you can enjoy them. The galbanum, the saffron in the heart and of course the iris butter make it a perfect fragrance and something I must totally try.

  • wandering_nose says:

Oh Lauryn, thank you for this lovely and very informative review! My heart skipped a bit at the sight of the name of the new creation by Madame Nicolaï. I love iris, it has a special place in my heart and soul – it is elegant, subdued yet powerful and transformative. I love when it is paired with violet and leather. The addition of neroli and sandalwood, vanilla and musk makes it sound like an all-rounder I would never get enough of. The following line from the review speaks to me in particular: each note is given the space and time to fully unfold so that you can smell them in procession. That is what real mastery is to me – being open and transparent about your ingredients, allowing each of them to unfold and captivate the wearer and those around him, both on its own and as part of the bigger picture. My favorites from the house are Ambre Cashmere Intense and Patchouli Intense. Thank you from Dublin, Republic of Ireland, EU

  • I love iris and the idea of a longer lasting scent is very appealing. The juxtaposition of the flower with neroli, sandalwood and leather sounds lovely. I’ve visited Florence too briefly and would love to be reminded of my time there. It’s about time the Medicis got their eponymous fragrance. I love my decant of Cuir Cuba Intense. I’m in the US.

  • snowflake15 says:

I love iris with Violet and this sounds wonderful! Can’t wait to try it. Thank you for the wonderful article. USA

  • Yes, a trip to Florence is out of the question at the price of airline tickets these days. Love that Roman myth of the iris. I love a fragrance that has a progression and not linear. Patricia is genius with fragrance. Adding violet and orange blossom really has me thinking this will be fabulous. I love her Cap Neroli, Violette in Love, Kiss Me, etc. Thanks for the chance. USA.

  • I was contemplating about what can be accomplished through iris because of the review for Cherigan Paris Iris Coffee when I found this as a revelation. Madame Patricia de Nicolaï seems to have realized what I could not have even imagined. The representation of (aromatic) nobility strikes. I would love to wear it in Bulgaria, EU.

  • I do not have a favorite perfume from this brand, but this sounds like a lovely introduction. Iris is such a beautiful note in perfumery, and it sounds beautifully composed here. The fact that each note gets it’s time to shine is good to hear, as well. I live in Sweden, EU.

  • Shibuichi2000 says:

I love iris centered perfumes, and a mix between iris and Patricia de Nicolaï could only be wonderful. Usually I don’t complain about longevity, so I’d be curious about the strength of Iris Médicis Intense. Do far, my fav from Nicolaï is Odalisque.
    I’m from EU.

  • Iris works extremely well paired with violet, leather and saffron. All the other materials should skier it into a desired direction wanted by Patricia. It’s nice she’s focusing on longevity, I guess she understood that most people like a perfume to last ~8 hours on the skin and yes, having an iris to do so it does take bringing in more materials, but it’s also hard to make the orris smell last, not just the perfume itself. Would be very interested to smell the end result.
    Thanks, I’m in the EU.

  • Iris Medicis Intense sounds beautiful! Lauryn, I love how you describe each stage of the perfume being given time to develop, time for us to follow the threads of the tapestry. Also, how the fragrance moves from powdery floral to something tannic and savory sounds just wonderful.
    I’m in WV, USA

  • johnmadison says:

Just stunning. Take me to Florence with this beautiful ode to iris. I would love to wear this one.
    John, Minnesota USA

  • Januarililjan says:

Great perfume. I want it very much. Please let me win. Good review Lauryn. No favorite yet. EU

  • I love Patricia’s workm specially Fig Tea. From the review I really like the way each ingredient can express itself around the Iris heart. Greetings from France!

  • equatorgrim says:

When I was a teenager, I visited Florence for a day during a school field trip – I remember the marble and the lingering ghosts of the Medici family. I have a synesthesia that connects locations with fragrances, but it’s so much more interesting when it’s the reverse, and places are used to describe the fragrances themselves. The journey from floral to saffron to leather to wood.

I have not yet been lucky enough to try a Nicolaï Parfumeur-Createur fragrance, but I look forward to when I can. In the US.

  • Im a big fan Parfums de Nicolai creation, 2 fragrances are on my wishlist this end of the year of 2023: NewYork Intense & Patchouli Intense both 100ml
I am very sure this Iris Medicis Intense is insanely beautiful iris scent! Would love to win this and add to my collection From US here.

  • redwheelbarrow says:

I had no idea the sotry of Iris or fleur-de-lis! How interesting! I find Iris to be such a comforting scent and I love the notes included in this creation. I’ve yet to try this house. Great review! From the US.

  • Oh, i looooove Nicolaï Parfumeur-Createur and Iris is one of my favorite notes! I’m happy to see Neroli here too!
Based on Lauryn’s review, I’d love to try this fragrance because of its aromatic robustness, savory elements, delicate sweetness of carrot and the dark, woodsy smell of violet.
    Hugs from EU. ❤️

  • Whenever I am near the one local boutique that carries Nicolaï fragrances I always go in to sniff! So far my favorites from this house are Eau de Yuzu and Fig Tea. Needless to say, fan of the brand and would love to try Iris Medicis Intense. What strikes me about the scent as reviewed by Lauryn, was the last bit- about applying the fragrance while listening to Monteverdi and planning the trip! This is so neat and really drives home the spirit of the scent. The scent itself appeals to me because of the spicy heart notes described like saffron and clove – I would love to smell how that melds exactly with the Iris in the fragrance. Thank you for the review and the giveaway! I am from Canada

  • Even though it surprised me to hear carrot described as sweet (it usually strikes me as cedar-y pencil wood as a perfume note) the overall description here of a balanced Iris blend that isn’t too powdery, isn’t too same-y is intriguing. It sounds like there’s enough going on here to make this one stand out from the myriad iris scents out there (and I own a lot of them because I love iris in its many forms!) I live in the USA. My favortie Nicolai’s so far are Sacrbleue and Juste un Reve.

  • Such a nice introduction, I like how Michelyn Invited Patricia de Nicolai to let us know the inspiration, and the creative process behind Iris Medicis . I’m amazed how Patricia was firm on making sophisticated, yet rich and intense iris fragrance , with leather and sandalwood.
I remember from previous articles on Cafleurebon it wasn’t easy for her being ignored by the Guerlain family, at least for the part of becoming a Guerlain perfumer herself. Unquestionably she showed all her friends, family, doubters that not giving her a chance was a wrong move , now we have Parfums de Nikolai , far-famed name on its own.
I have a feeling rainy and windy Fall is upon us , and Iris Medicis is the ideal solution , welcoming and comfy iris fragrance fragrance , with Italian leather connections
Iris Medicis is like a romantic , getaway vacation in the Florence , exactly what I need at the moment.
Angelys Pear is my favorite Parfums de Nikolai, watery , slightly tart pear , fresh rose and positive emotions type of scent.
    Thanks for the draw

  • Interesting opening to this review; I didn’t know the history of the fleur-de-lis, despite seeing the emblem regularly, even Stateside. And Iris Medicis Intense sounds like an exceptional use of iris, reinforced by dusty saffron and sandalwood, with a nose for quality materials. I enjoy a varied progression, and that aspect of Patricia de Nicolaï’s composition sounds exceptional. The carrot note is particularly intriguing. I’d love to try this. Thanks for the review, Lauryn.

I’m in the USA. I haven’t tried any Nicolaï Parfumeur-Createur fragrances. Thanks for the giveaway!

  • What strikes me about Lauryn’s review is her description of the fragrance as unfolding one note at a time, something she identifies as the de Nicolaï house style. Some fragrances are an abstract blend without distinct notes, some are the classical three-layer structure, others are a single note sustained over time, but I’m intrigued by the idea of a fragrance as a sequence of individual notes, like a light that cycles through the colours of the rainbow (which seems thematically appropriate for Iris.)
The only other Patricia de Nicolaï scent I’ve had the pleasure of smelling is Sacrebleu.
    I live in Canada.

  • Lovely review, Lauryn! I have been eagerly awaiting this release because iris can be a tricky note but, I have no doubt Madam Nicolai has masterfully tamed it. It is especially interesting to hear that it was a goal to make the iris note long lasting. I have several favorites in this line but, the top choice is Une Temp de Fete (sadly discontinued). I can’t wait to try this one. US.

  • The perfumer, and a business lady Patricia de Nicolai life path could be summarized by one of my favorite quotes ever

“People who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those who are doing it.” — George Bernard Shaw, Irish playwright

Nikolai Parfemeur Createur I discovered late 2021, New York Intense i had to buy, it’s timeless , and after sampling i also bought Cuir Cuba Intense .
Cruising in the classic Italian Alfa Romeo in the streets of Florence , jamming Michael Jackson “Beat It” with decent amount of Iris Medicis on skin , and going to local coffee shop , the fragrance is so fulfilling, and joyful . Premium iris , leather, neroli and vanilla, I live for such moments , and fragrances.
    Overly exciting giveaway , USA
    Regards

  • Applauses to Patricia de Nicolai for all the efforts and determination during the years, despite her path being beset with difficulties and doubts ,some of which coming from family members.
Michelyn introduction with Patricia was very helpful , I know Iris Medicis iris ,orange blossom and leather story better.
Lauryn Beer take on the fragrance, and Michelyn introduction with Patricia together made me think of making , and later on eating Orange Blossom Cake , while sitting on a leather sofa with my girlfriend, while iris bouquet is also on the table. Iris Medicis I’ll enjoy a lot, I’m certain.
I’ve sampled 3 Nikolai Parfemeur Createur fragrances , Vanille Tonka , Neroli Intense and Angelys Pear. I like Vanille Tonka the most
Appreciate the introduction , the review, and the giveaway campaign

From Nicolaï Parfumeur-Createur, I’m fond of New York Intense. I’d like to try more from them. I appreciate how Lauryn describes Patricia’s skills as a perfumer and how Patricia uses notes in a procession. Lauryn’s review caused me to be very intrigued to try Iris Medicis Intense. I like a lot of its notes. I live in the U.S.A.

  • I had the pleasure of visiting one of Nikolai Parfemeur Createur stores in Paris back in 2018 , and the one that impressed me the most was Cuir Cuba Intense . End up buying 100ml bottle for €171 . Since I finished it, I asked a friend who was in Paris late Spring to buy me a new bottle , the current price was €204 ~$217 , a pleasant surprise 5 years later, considering all the massive price hikes last few months.
Even though Cuir Cuba Intense and Iris Medicis are very different, both are classy , a bit bold and also suitable for a sharp outfit. Iris Medicis is based on sandalwood, leather and of course iris and I like how Patricia de Nicolai was able to make it longer lasting too.
Florence i relate to the purple color , and I would wear Iris Medicis with three-piece purple suit, a bold and sophisticated combination.
Thank you Lauryn , and Nikolai Parfemeur Createur

  • After long absence because of health issues, I’m now back on Cafleurebon
Patricia de Nicolai is such a highly dedicated woman ,with a chip on her shoulder. Over 30 years of making fragrances, and still have the flame in her for creating new things, and expanding? Admirable.
Iris Medicis I think is elegant iris , with some sweetness, leather and Italian charm.
To me Parfums de Nikolai equals New York Intense , period ! As a barber I always have the 250ml in my shop. It was jar looking decanter years ago, it’s a big bottle now
Thanks to all involved, Parfums de Nikolai, Lauryn Beer and Cafleurebon

  • 34th anniversary of Parfums de Nikolai is coming this month , such a milestone for independent brand.
My congrats are not only to how Michelyn first calling her years , and years back “The first Lady of Niche” Patricia de Nicolai , but to all Parfums de Nikolai employees, and especially to Axel de Nikolai. He pumped huge amount of fresh blood into Parfums de Nikolai , 250ml decanters, bath products, soaps, gift sets , car sprays, sample sets came out because of his guidance.
I’m familiar with all Nicolai Parfumeur Createur fragrances, excluding Iris Medicis, and if I have to rate my favorite ones:
    1. Vanille Tonka
    2. Cuir Cuba Intense/ Caravansérail Intense
    3. New York Intense
I find interesting that The Flag of thebolf Republic of Florence, aka Giglio of Florence is white field with red iris in the middle, iris was always been one of the symbols of the city 🙂
Everybody loves a good iris fragrance, especially when it is composed by renowned perfumer like Patricia de Nicolai.
Good to know Iris Medicis is not just a linear fragrance, but there’s woody , spicy and leather facets too. Small amount vanilla is always a nice addition
Thanks a lot, all profiles I already follow , @waltherp99bg

  • Patricia de Nicolai is the one and only Lady Boss of Niche perfumery, I admire her, and her accomplishments. One of my father’s signature scents is New York Intense , I like the way it smells.
Iris Medicis is one of her Scheherazade like stories, with sweet Neroli, iris , leather and lots of Italian mysticism.
    Thank you for the opportunity

  • Thanks for the great writeup Lauryn.

I ‘ve always enjoyed reading about this house and the works of Patricia de Nicolai.

I feel like this is a fragrance of contrasts. The soothing nature of orris is contrasted with sudsy neroli, green herbal galbanum, sweet leather and dusty saffron and that sweet vanilla muskiness.

    Truly a wonderful fragrance.

    My favourite is Pear Angelys.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • Never been a big Iris fan but after Iris Malikhân by Maison Crivelli, I’ve changed my mind and would be thrilled to see another interpretation of Iris. I hope this one is my new fav haha. I’m in Poland
