Back when she was growing up in Athens, Greece, designer Mary Katrantzou had a perfume collection. “Then I got bored with it”, she notes. “And that was that”. Last year Katrantzou, a recipient of New Generation funding debuted her scent-sational runway show, and took her 'perfume collection' to a whole other dimension.
The trompe l'oeil designs by Katrantzou were inspired by the curves, facets, and form of vintage and modern fragrance flacons (Givenchy, Gaultier, Guerlain) and flatter the female silhouette. A "perfumista fashionista" favorite: the Shalimar dress (the fragrance has been in fashion since 1925). But for va va voom curves, please send us a Gaultier Classique dress.
After all, it was Coco Chanel that claimed "a woman who doesn't wear perfume has no future."
