New Fragrance Review: MUGLER A*Men Kryptomint (2017)+Jaques Huclier’s Super Powers Draw

Flankers get a bad rap.  Often they are mindless reinterpretations captitalizing on the initial fragrance’s popularity without a soul. An exception to this is the Mugler A*Men series and the reason is that isPerfumer Jacques Huclier (he created A*Men in1996, one of the first gourmands for men). M. Huclier understands the DNA and with every re-exploration he finds an exciting way to reinvent the original. He has been the perfumer behind the “Pure Series”: Pure Ice, Pure Coffee (with Christine Nagel), Pure Shot, Pure Ice, Pure Tonka, Pure Malt, Pure Havane, A*Men Pure Energy, A*Men Pure Shot, A*Men Ultra Zest (with Quentin Bisch), Ice*Men, A*Men Sunessence Orage d’ete and B*Men (with Christine Nagel, 2004).     Love all the Mugler fragrances. Right now I own Pure Malt and Ultra Zest and enjoy both greatly. Would love to add Kryptomint to the collection!

    I’m very interested in the new A*Men flanker, as I already own Taste of Fragrance and Ultra Zest. I love mint as a note, but as mint based fragrances goes, I want it to smell in gormandising sense, if I can say that. Not too mediciny or like toothpaste!

    As always, Sebastian has made another copacetic and informative fragrance review. I can hardly wait to get my hands (and nose) on this flanker.

    This sounds promising. I love the mint in Guerlain Homme Intense, and the Ultra Zest base needs something dramatic to make it more interesting. I’ve been watching Sebastian’s videos for awhile now, and I like how he’s able to put his descriptions into perspective (minty, fresh and long lasting, but not like toothpaste).

    Sebastian always has great reviews!!! I only have one of the A’Men flankers (A*Men Ultra Zest )…This new KryptoMint seems to be geered more to being a flanker of the Ultra Zest. So i would really like to try this one out. Thanks for the chance to win.

    I really enjoyed Sebastian’s detailed review of A-Men Kryptomint. I haven’t smelled it yet, and I was too weary that would simply come off smelling like sweet toothpaste. I’m glad to hear that’s not the case! I’d love a full bottle for myself to smell and review on my Youtube channel.

    I watch all Sebastia’s review, he is good.

    As for the Mughler, it is fun to see all these flankers. This one seems quite different than quite a few of the others. I love the mint note as it has a cooling effect. Mint can be hit or miss as it can come off as toothpaste or gum.

    I will love to win this so I can finally have one mint perfume that is not a miss.

    My favorite Mugler is Ultra Zest. I’m intrigued by Kryptomint being that it’s part of the Ultra Zest line, and the color! I’m looking forward to many more. Best part of Sebastian’s review is he likes it!

    I been a fan of Sebastian for awhile. He knows who i am haha. Its another A*men flanker.. simple… I like to try them because i generally have liked most of them to be honest. This one sounds like a spin off of the ultra zest line.. Almost like its own A*men line with a toned down DNA or something? hmm

    Sebastian is probably one of the best noses in the bizz through his channel I’ve seen quite a few fragrances others don’t ever talk about. The A-men line has always been one of my favs since the original Angel men to pure tonka and all in between. Hopefully pure mint is another A++ I’m sure it won’t dissapoint, excited to be part of the giveaway

    Many fragheads snobs are already downplaying this flanker but as a freshie guy,just like Ultra Zest,I think I will enjoy this as well. Sebastians take is quite correct and hoping to get my hands on this new release.

    Ahhh, Mugler flankers. I love them. I started wearing A*Men in ’98 and still wear it to this day. I am familiar with Kryptomint in name only and want to try it as I’ve been seeing articles about it. I also think the flankers give life and interest to the line and are of the highest quality.

    I enjoyed hearing about the mint note in this scent in particular, because I do not own any mint fragrances and would be curious how it performs. The comment about being energizing and making you want to do sporty things made sense to me as far as what to expect. The other flankers I LOVE are Pure Havana and Pure Malt.

    Angel men is my favourite from the line. I am a huge fan of mint but I don’t like that toothpaste type smell. From sebastian review he has the same problem with mint like I have and he is impressed with it and I trust his nose he is one of the best reviewers out there one of my top three so will definitely try this.

    I liked his description of the scent. As the name suggests, it seems very minty, which is a note I love. I also really liked the mint note in Icemen, so curious to see how this conpares

    Sebastian, as expected, did a wonderful job reviewing this new flanker. I’ve been a fan of his since his Man Loves Cologne days and know his love for Mugler. I’ve grown to love the line as well and cannot choose a single favorite. For cold weather I enjoy Pure Malt and for warmer weather Ultra Zest. I look forward to sniffing this new one out!

    What I like about Sebastian’s review? He is direct to the point and doesn’t drag on. For this video, all the needed details are in it, but at the same time he gives his own opinions about it and his experience with the AMen line. So he does not look like a salesman for a perfume just trying to make us buy perfumes. Favoriite from the line are Pure Havane or Pure Tonka. Sorry I equally like those two 🙂

    I don’t own any Mugler frags but I have been looking for a good mint fragrance. Ive tried Guerlain’s Herba Fresca but I didn’t like it much so this would be nice to try. Houstin, TX.

    I haven’t smelled the new Mugler scent yet but have enjoyed a few of them. My favorite is Alien Sunnescence, love the bottle too. I enjoyed Sebatian’s review, I am also a little leery of mint in scents so I was glad to hear his take on it. I just recently discovered his channel and like that he includes a variety of scents in his reviews.

    I only own two Mugler fragrances, Pure Havane and Pure Malt. If I was forced to choose between the two, I’d have to go with Pure Malt as my favorite. I enjoy the boozy quality to the fragrance and it gives me a calm confidence when I wear it. I’m definitely interested in putting my nose on kryptomint because I have faith in mugler fragrances and the smell of mint interests me. Besides, I’d really like to see if the negativity around the fragrance is really warranted.

    I learned Mugler is Sebastian’s favorite house and he has been wearing Mugler’s fragrances since 1997. He mentions Kryptomint is similar in style to Ultrazest than others in the line. His review also talks about that cooling effect which is intriguing because the rest of the fragrance is kind of warm. I own some in this line including Original Amen, Bmen, Pure Coffee, Pure Havane, and Pure Malt. I am in the US.

    As always great review & enjoyed in detailed review about A-Men Kryptomint. I avoid minty flavor fragrances but after watching this review I’m considering it to give a try. My favorites from the A*Men fragrances are: Pure Havane and A* Men Original.

    I don’t think any of my frags have mint so I would be eager to get my nose on Kryptomint. It’s true that Mugler makes some great ones Pure Malt and Pure Tonka are my faves as well as the original A*Men.i didn’t know the same perfumer made so many of them

    That bottle is just gorgeous! This one sounds so refreshing, maybe like one of those icy hot powders that I love to put on in hot weather, because of their refreshing feel and scent. I love the original A*men on my partner.

    Hi everyone!

    I like his reviews because he is honest about his take on the fragrance. For example, I recently watched his review on Uomo and he did not like it. In this video, I like that he mentioned that mint is good, but too much mint can be like toothpaste. I concur 100%. I also liked that he talked about the new Mugler design on the box. To be honest, I liked the signature style with Thierry better, but oh well. With regard to A*men, I have Pure Malt and absolutely love it. I didn’t care for Pure Zest, but this one looks very promising indeed.
