In 2014, I had the great honor of interviewing Patricia de Nicolaï as she celebrated the 25th anniversary of Nicolaï Parfumeur- Createur as an independent niche perfumery brand, her remarkable career as a perfumer and the President of the Osmotheque. Today, seven years later, ÇaFleureBon has the pleasure of announcing the official launch of Parfums de Nicolaï Poudre De Musc Intense which will debut in the Parfums de Nicolaï Boutiques and stockists worldwide on September 6, 2021.

When I learned of Parfums de Nicolaï Poudre De Musc, it immediately jogged my memory to when I asked her, Which Parfum de Nicolaï fragrance was the most challenging for you to create?”

“It’s always a challenge for me to create a fragrance. But if I had to choose one, I will say Musc Intense. The musk note is much used in our business, but mainly when creating an amber and animalic fragrances. For my ‘musk’, I tried a different path—one paved with flowers (Rose, violet and carnation), starting with a fruity note (pear). The rose essence has a delicious williamine (pear liquor) scent which is why I added fruity notes. Fortunately, it was a success. Musc Intense is indeed one of our bestsellers.” –Patricia de Nicolaï, 2014

Parfums de Nicolaï Poudre De Musc Intense is the third ‘Musc’ in the collection; the first was Musc Intense (2012) followed by Musc Monoi in 2014, a beautiful non-animalic musk evoking the tropical aroma of Monoi (which Patricia de Nicolaï combined with salty marine notes and sandalwood).

“Nicolaï Parfumeur- Createur Poudre De Musc Intense is a bouquet of musk on a floral heart of rose, hawthorn and orange blossom dressed in sandalwood. A cocktail of aldehydes stirs up the musky tones to make them more vibrant. Soft as a caress, enveloping as silk and with a bewitching trail, Poudre de Musc Intense is an elegant and comforting Eau de Parfum”. -from the Brand

Patricia de Nicolai is the first indepenent perfumer to start her own niche brand in 1989

  • Thank you so much, Michelyn! ❤️ for your amazing interview with Patricia de Nicolai! Can you imagine waking up to Shalimar floating in on the breeze? What a storied history of beauty & accomplishment! Also, thank you for more information about the Osmotheque & links for how to help support this amazing place! ❤️ It is all connected, really. I “found” perfumes because of Maurice Roucel’s original formulation of 24, Faubourg (didn’t like perfumes until I smelled this) and it has led to so many masterpieces & great Art. I shall have to add Parfums de Nicolaï Poudre De Musc Intense to that list! Looking forward to learning more about de Nicolai’s creations & hope to have a chance to experience her new scent in September!

  • I love Musc Intense… I can’t wait for poudre de musc intense.
Thank you for the glimpse and the interesting interview

  • As a lover of aldehydes as well as fruity-florals it is a pleasure to find them combined in a fragrance; Poudre de Musc Intense sounds beautiful.
