New Fragrance: Nicolaï Parfumeur-Createur Iris Medicis Intense (Patricia de Nicolaï) 2023 “A Tribute to Tuscany”

In 2014, I had the great honor of interviewing Patricia de Nicolaï as she celebrated the 25th anniversary of Nicolaï Parfumeur Createur an independent niche perfumery brand, her remarkable career as a perfumer and the first woman president of the Osmotheque. Today, nine years later, ÇaFleureBon has the pleasure of announcing the official launch of Nicolaï Parfumeur-Createur Iris Medicis Intense which will debut ONLY in the Nicolaï Parfumeur-Createur Boutiques (7 in Paris and 2 in London) and online September 2023.

I want readers to have a preview of this exciting new perfume as well as behind the scenes insights, so I asked Patricia de Nicolaï about the soon to be released Nicolaï Parfumeur-Createur Iris Medicis Intense, a tribute to Tuscany, its iris and its leather. She graciously shared her creative process in this exclusive quote.

“I always wanted to create a fragrance dedicated to iris, one of the rarest and most noble raw materials in the perfumer’s palette. However, although iris butter is rich and intense, it remains a discreet skin scent and working on the longevity of an iris perfume is quite challenging. It took me time to create this fragrance as my main idea was to focus and the longevity of the perfume. After many trials and combinations, I finally decided to combine the iris with a powdery violet and the sweetness of orange blossom. By adding violet and my favorite ingredient neroli, I discovered a lovely vibrancy! A warm sandalwood-musk-vanilla background, enhanced by a saffron leather, brings strength, sillage and a lingering trail.” -Patricia de Nicolaï of Nicolaï Parfumeur-Createur on Iris Medicis Intense
