Navitus Parfums Mahni Cassonade Extrait De Parfum (Bertrand Duchaufour) 2024 + Melting Ice Cream Giveaway

Navitus Parfums Mahni Cassonade

Navitus Parfums Mahni Cassonade by Olya Bar

Created  by Bertrand Duchaufour (in collaboration with YouTube fragrance influencer Sharida Moore), this scent is a full celebration of vanilla in all its glory. Creamy, smoky, and dusted with caramelized brown sugar, it’s like the most decadent dessert you can imagine.

To me, it smells like a holiday escape to a rustic cabin in the woods, where the whole family gathers around the fireplace to celebrate. It’s cozy evenings on the couch, sharing stories and family legends, indulging in sugary treats, and digging into vanilla ice cream left out just long enough to soften, filling the house with its nostalgic, mouthwatering aroma.

Outside, the world is a snow-kissed wonderland, the sharp, crisp air carrying the earthy scent of pine and the faint smokiness of the fireplace. The cabin itself feels like a cocoon of warmth against the chill—a sanctuary where the golden glow of the fire dances on wooden beams and the rich aroma of smoldering logs creates an atmosphere of serene intimacy. There’s an electric anticipation in the air, the kind that only the holidays can bring, where every shared laugh, every clink of dessert plates, and every cherished moment feels like part of something timeless and magical.

Is Navitus Parfums Mahni Cassonade an overly complex fragrance that morphs into endless stages over hours? No, its beauty lies in its simplicity. But let me tell you—there’s something about the brown sugar and the toffee accord here that adds a fun twist. The vanilla ice cream accord adds a playful sweetness, reminiscent of frosting on a freshly baked cake. At the heart, vanilla caviar brings depth and a subtle boozy warmth, giving the fragrance a richer, more sophisticated edge, while the cashmeran accord makes the base feel more airy.

Navitus Parfums Mahni Cassonade Extrait De Parfum is like taking a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream, sprinkling it with heaps of brown sugar, and then getting wild by setting it ablaze. The caramelized sweetness gives off that slightly burned-in-the-oven vibe, and just when you think it couldn’t get more indulgent, you throw in some toffee candies for good measure. It’s a sugary dessert in full sensory overdrive. Excessive? Maybe. But how else am I supposed to walk you through a scent without letting your imagination run wild? This isn’t a groundbreaking formula, nor is it trying to be. It delivers exactly what I think it’s meant to—warmth, comfort, and nostalgia. In fact, it made me crave ice cream so badly that I had to stop writing mid-article, grab my fanciest dessert cup (because dessert deserves good dishware), and devour a few scoops of vanilla ice cream topped with crunchy waffle bits.

What can I say? I have a sweet tooth—for both scents and snacks. And this fragrance? It’s a treat worth savoring.

Notes: Bergamot, Vanilla Ice Cream, Cashmeran, Brown Sugar, Toffee, Amberwood, Vanilla Caviar,  Crystal Musk, Peruvian White Amber.

  • I also have a sweet tooth and I love a gourmand. I love how Olya says it delivers on warmth comfort and nostalgia. Sometimes this is just what I’m looking for.

An ice cream date wearing Navitus Parfums Mahni Cassonade? Sign me up! I like that Olya mentioned is not an overcomplicated fragrance that goes through lots of stages because most people don’t care about that, they just want to wear something simple that smells good. Gourmand scents are here to stay and this is proof of that. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a vanilla caviar note (accord?) on a fragrance before so this must really be a rich sweet scent. Sharida has built a fan base for some years now reviewing fragrances and she has always stated gourmands are one of her favorite types of fragrance so this was a match made in heaven. Should I be so lucky to win this, it’s going to be one I wear to death as vanilla still is my favorite note. Cheers from the USA.

☆ “The vanilla ice cream accord adds a playful sweetness, reminiscent of frosting on a freshly baked cake”

Thank you Olya for all the beautiful culinary references and reminding me I promised my girlfriend a secluded cabin in the woods weekend. I’ll follow your advice and not only book a cabin, but treat myself and my girlfriend with my own Madagascar vanilla extract ice-cream and some Caramelized Brow Sugar Tarts.
Bertrand Duchaufour career is remarkable , he cooked so many successful, beautiful and popular fragrances , from Jubilation XXV from Amouage to Timbuktu,to Traversee du Bosphore and Noir Exquis from L’Artisan Parfumeur , Chocolate Queen and Baklava Royale – my favorite Navitus Parfums .
Speaking of Traversee du Bosphore thanks to Michelyn interview from 14 years ago I know know the story behind the fragrance :

☆ “Rebonjour Bertrand! Wow this is some set-up. Please tell me the story behind creating “Traversee du Bosphore”?

BD: Charniere. (Translated it means a junction between both worlds) Istanbul is the door between the East and West. At the beginning the project we had in mind to make a travel fragrance that evoked a trip on the “Orient Express”; but there was a lot of difficulties with trademarks and ownership, so we didn’t do that exact project. We took another idea; rather than a trip going to Istanbul, we were to be in Instanbul. So I spent ten days over there, to find the best pretext for something that was Oriental but different than the traditional oriental notes. In creating this perfume, for me it was very important to show duality. The leather contrasted with the Turkish Delight is very important element of this fragrance.”

Appreciate the gourmandish review, Michelyn Camen interview with Bertrand Duchaufour from 2010 , and of course the giveaway campaign ‍

I love the honesty in Olya’s review, just because a fragrance might be simple, that doesn’t make it bad. I have my moods, and quite a lot of the time, I prefer a simple, down to earth fragrance that isn’t telling a complex story. This one sounds simply delicious and delightful. I am always on the lookout for an ice cream scent that doesn’t hurt my teeth and that has a woody balance. I just think this one by Navitus would fit the bill for me. Love. I live in Oregon.

  • Wow at all the famous names working on fragrances for Navitus, I’m so pumped for Mahni Cassonade . Bertrand Duchaufour is a famous perfumer for a good reason , I’m aware of Sharida Moore too , I follow her on Instagram and YouTube.
I like how Olya described the fragrance, delicious vanilla ice-cream, sugar and toffee accords on bed of pine and faint smokiness of the fireplace.
With the help of Bertrand Duchaufour different ice-cream pastries meets comfort and niche perfumery, my expectations are so high, can’t wait. Personally I’m glad Mahni Cassonade is a great gourmand done in a more nostalgic way.
My favorite Navitus Parfums is Vivamor
Thank you Olya , Bertrand Duchaufour , Navitus , Sharida Moore , Michelyn

  • I really like how Mahni Cassonade is made by such a great, and accomplished perfumer like Bertrand Duchaufour , with creative direction of YouTube fragrance influencer Sharida Moore , thanks for the info .
I’d love to win the fragrance because of the slightly earthy and faintly smoky notes , also the delicious gourmand aspects , especially the vanilla ice cream , the frosting on a freshly baked cake and the toffee candies . Relaxing and a bit seductive fragrance i believe. I know I’d enjoy Mahni Cassonade all Winter long.
Aubade (Lyrik) , collaboration between Julien Rasquinet and Dominique Ropion , is the best Navitus fragrance I’ve smelled . Aubade (Lyrik) , The Embrace and Navus are the Navitus Parfums fragrances I own.
    Thanks for the draw

  • Actually of all the flavors vanilla is in my top three favorite and the one I buy the most hands down. Why mess with the best? It’s just perfection imo and so versatile. I’d imagine this perfume to be also. Something not pretentious and perfectly fine for layering.

I have a sweet tooth as well. I hear good things about the house of Navitus and the notes in this fragrance sound amazing.

What stood to me by Olya’s review is when she said “it smells like a holiday escape to a rustic cabin in the woods, where the whole family gathers around the fireplace to celebrate.” I’m sold on this one.

I love Bertie and this sounds awesome. I need a new gourmand! I’d love to win and live in Indiana.

  • Olya’s review had me wanting Vanilla Ice cream. This certainly sounds like a gourmand I need to try. Perfect for Winter weather. USA NY

  • I really enjoyed reading the details of this review. I think I’ve smelled a few other Duchaufour creations that were vanilla inspired and found them compelling. What in the world is Vanilla Caviar? 🙂 My sweet tooth needs to know. Regardless, vanilla has been a continual cozy go to scent for me this winter and I would love to try this take on vanilla.

  • This sounds lovely, almost as comforting and warming as when I eat ice cream on days when I’m feeling down. It would be great to try it.

  • i have yet to try anything from Navitus but this sounds about what I need to shelter from the cold. Not certain what Vanilla Caviar is but I am on this. Duchaufour is one of my favs. I am in the Us

  • Well, Olya made me crave vanilla ice cream too! Lovely review, very descriptive, enough to make me hungry! This sounds like a lovely comfort scent for the colder months!

  • Yum! Mahni Cassonade is a gourmand made for cozying up to a roaring fire in winter. The carmelized brown sugar and toffee accords seem to give complexity to the variety of vanilla accords on a warm amber and musk base. I’m not familiar with vanilla caviar, but the description of a boozy vanilla sounds wonderful. MD, USA.
