Navitus Parfums Baklava Royale image by Steven

“After spending years living in Greece, baklava is a dessert enjoyed on many occasions. It reminds me of time spent with family during the holidays. it’s amazing how many memories are evoked by the gustatory and the olfactory. This delicious pastry combines honey with chopped nuts and filo and Bertrand Duchaufour brought this gourmand  perfume to life! Grilled almonds and pistachio rest on a bed of honey and vanilla from Madagascar. Amberwood and tonka bean strengthen the base to diversify the sweetness while also adding hours of longevity to the perfume. Baklava Royale is a nostalgic dessert perfume (Happy holidays -many years Χρόνια πολλά”) –Steven Gavrielatos

Top Notes: Orange Blossom, Italian Bergamot; Heart Notes: Honey, Pistachio, Grilled Almond; Base Notes: Amberwood, Madagascan Vanilla,  Brazilian Tonka Bean

  • great review, concise and really paints the picture of the fragrance making comparison with other perfumes, and giving some emotional adjectives, really want to try this one.

  • I love Baklava Dessert! It’s so delicious and brings back wonderful memories for me personally. Having this Perfume inspired by one of my favorite desserts makes this fragrance very intriguing and I find the inspiration very unique as well as original on Gabys side. Steven said it’s a realistic and sophisticated gourmand so that is an added plus. Would love to get my nose on this one! Greetings from California, USA.

  • Ramses Perez says:

I have eaten many baklavas before and can only imagine what this smells like! A syrupy concoction of sweetness and deliciousness. Navitus always comes up with the best names and presentations to their fragrances. This is right up my alley, I’m a gourmand lover first and foremost! A holiday treat that brings me back memories is always flan! IG: Ramses.d.perez. Cheers from NJ, USA.

  • A baklava centered perfume is intriguing; as a lover of the pastry, a gourmand featuring honey almond and pistachios notes for me makes me interested if the scent delivers on the essence of baklava without being overly sweet and sugary gourmand perfume. Steve mentions the sweetness is there with a gentle vanilla accord, tonka bean and the honey, almond and pistachio aren’t powdery which is a plus. USA.@yara16xyz

  • Baklava is one of my all-time favorite sweets, I just had some incredible baklava in North London on a recent holiday and somehow I think Navitus captured this delicacy in a fragrance. And I love that it’s not overly sweet or sugary as Steven mentioned, as the best baklava is not too sweet. That touch of citrus and orange blossom in the opening sounds lovely. This sounds mature and sophisticated and I would love to wear this! So unique and interesting certainly! And wow 10 hours on the skin, awesome…Sounds like another great one from Navitus!

Omg, that bottle and those notes…I would love to add this fragrance to my Navitus collection.
    I love Gourmand fragrances

  • David Furman says:

I was first introduced to baklava as a child at a Greek Fest. I was a light, flaky and sweet delicacy. So by the name Navitus is teasing us with this treat here. I anticipate a savory sweet and bitter nuttiness with a powdered facet towards the far dry down. Powdery compositions seems to cut through the cold and are appealing to most. Theres a complexity to this I can’t conceptualize unless I try it. I know this house doesn’t skimp on quality and a sense of superiority. For that I would love to be gifted the bottle, from Jacksonville NC.

  • Steven’s review was comprehensive and his description of the fragrance made me want to smell it even more than I wanted to before his review. Great job, Steven.

  • I’m definitely a gourmand lover and this sounds amazing. I would love to own a bottle.

  • Literally the way Steven describes this makes me want to own it so badly! Baklava is one of my all time favorite desserts and this fragrance would be so lovely to add to my collection! I follow on Instagram under the handle @karendoesperfume

  • Steven mentioning that it is sweet, but not overly so, makes it sound like a fantastic fragrance based on the notes. I would love the opportunity to try this out, especially since I’m a fan of many Duchaufour fragrances. I live in CT, US.

  • Steven is my top YouTube reviewer. He is so knowledgeable in perfume note and knows how to articulate very well to his viewers how a perfume smells. A hard thing to do when you can’t smell the scent.
I LOVE gourmand fragrances and the one sounds devine. The ingredients make it sound like if you walked right into a rich bakery.
I hope I get to experience this gem by praying to be the winner. I may even start believing in Santa again. Lol.

  • The review described this perfume in a really appealing way, especially highlighting the nutty accords and honey. What’s also appealing is the fact that this perfume won’t be overloaded by sugar, which makes it balanced. Such a stunning gold bottle, too.

  • Ahhh gourmands, and one inspired by baklava? ! I haven’t found a gourmand pistachio-based perfume yet so this one sounds right up my alley. I always enjoy Steven’s reviews and am thankful he emphasizes that honey, roasted almond, and pistachio are the main notes that come out. I also like that this is not a big sugar bomb as well.

I follow cafleurebon on Instagram as @helenlamby. Thanks for the giveaway!

  • thenkengrene says:

The list of notes sounds amazing from the review. Would love to smell this in person. Insta: thenkengrene

  • Steven mentioned the proliferation of gourmands at the beginning of the video and I couldn’t agree more! I like them, but only if the sweet notes are kept to a reasonable level. Steven describes it as having an air of maturity-not too sugary sweet. That’s what caught my attention, along with Bertrand Duchaufour as the perfumer. Instagram handle @creativedissonance2

  • It’s truly fascinating and innovative that a fragrance has been crafted around the essence of Baklava, a beloved dessert deeply rooted in Greek culture. The choice to capture the rich and nostalgic aroma of Baklava in a perfume combined with Steven’s personal memories recounted, enhances the fragrance and makes me want to get my hands on it immediately!

What makes this concept particularly intriguing is the way it intricately weaves together elements of Greek tradition and gourmand fragrance. Bertrand is able to take Baklava, with its layers of filo pastry, honey, and nuts, and make it into a source of inspiration for a sensory journey. The decision to incorporate grilled almonds, pistachios, honey from Madagascar, and vanilla showcases a commitment to authenticity. I find it particularly even more cool as a self taught perfumer how he perfectly incorporates materials like amberwood and tonka to not only add realness to the Baklava he is baking into his fragrance, but also for their fixative properties and the performance benefits they bring to the fragrance!

The perfumer, Bertrand Duchaufour, deserves applause for his creativity in translating the olfactory experience of Baklava into a fragrance.

Cheers to Bertrand Duchaufour and Gabby for bringing this unique and evocative concept to life!

    The review of this fragrance is informative, thorough, and filled with an effervescent passion for fragrances. That much is vividly evident to me. And this fragrance [Baklava Royale] sounds like a real stunner, and something deeply special. {My IG handle is “HelloNeverHurts”}

  • What I love about Steven’s review is he’s very informative and explains in details that I can almost smell the notes through the screen lol although I have never tried baklava in my life, but I would love to experience the smell of baklava through this perfume. I love pistachio, honey, and almonds in perfumes. I also love how this year’s winter is all about gourmands! I’ve also followed your insta! My insta handle is @redblack_cherry from Washington, USA

  • Love stevens reviews, they are like therapy for me. I’ve tried Gallagher fragrances baklava and it was amazing. It would be an awesome experience to be able to compare the two

  • yajijgonzalez1 says:

I bought already 02 Navitus Xenial Perfumes, It’s a spectacular Fragrance and as a customer of Navitus I want to try this gourmand because I adore Baklava Lebanese pastry. Greetings from Miami Florida. Happy Holidays Everyone ❤️

  • I enjoyed how Steven described the scent as a gourmand with maturity due to the sugary aspect being dialed down. The combination of the grilled almond, pistachio and honey notes sound irresistible and mouth watering. Being a fan of the gourmand genre, this one really peaked my interest. A holiday dessert that brings back fond memories are cannoli’s with their tube-shaped shells of fried pastry dough filled with a sweet, creamy filling containing ricotta and chocolate chips. Followed on Instagram. Handle is Frankieg74. Thank you for the opportunity. New York, USA.

  • Nancy Sternberg says:

Baklava Royale by Navitus sounds marvelous to me! Steven did a great job of explaining the sweet nuttiness of this juice and its level of sweet in the wide world of gourmand fragrances. I go for so many of Bertrand Duchaufour’s perfumes too, and I would LOVE to win this contest. Thank you! IG nancysternberggoodman

  • ianbradleyandrews says:

Incredible. What love Bertrand. I grew up eating baklava as my family is Greek. Steven makes this sound so dreamy and complex. I’d love to win and live in Indiana.

  • I just recently went to an event in Philadelphia and out of all the amazing fragrances they had on display from Navitus , I founded myself going back to Baklava Royale. I absolutely loved it! I couldn’t get enough of it . It was such a delicious smell , that was love at first sniff for me. I can’t wait to add this beauty to my collection.

  • What struck me about Steven’s review is that he called it a “mature” gourmond, a gourmond without toothache sweetness, which let’s the other parts of the composition shine. Grilled almonds? Nice. The honey, vanilla and citrus at the top to brighten the party up a bit. Bertrand Duchaufour – perfume giant. I’d love to experience this. I live in NY.

  • This sounds like a warming “mature” gourmand that isn’t overly sugary. Honey and nutty notes are quite wearable, even when very sweet, and can have a lot of depth. Like Steven said in his introduction, the realism will make Baklava Royale very nostalgic perfume for some. (The smell of spice cookies is nostalgic for me.) He also pointed out the amber and tonka give the base hours of longevity; it sounds like that vanilla-tinged portion of the wear is very comforting.

  • AromaDulce73 says:

Wow, sounds like a beautiful gourmand to have for the holiday season. Grilled almonds, pistachios with honey & vanilla? Ok, I need this in my life haha.
Glad Steven said that this is not powerdy, I’m not a big fan of powerdy fragrances. Also, like how he said it’s a mature gourmand, not candy like or sugary.

  • This is delicious! I totally get the baklava inspiration. Nutty, honey, flaky pastry…scrumptious! I think this is a stellar fragrance. I always appreciate Steven’s reviews, and I’m love his emphasis on highlighting honey, roasted almond, and pistachio as the predominant notes.
    Followed on Instagram! @wendy_chen60
Much love from NY, US! 🙂

  • Loved Steven’s review! He always has such vivid descriptions of fragrance. For me, the best holiday memories stem from the smell of hot cocoa!

  • I agree with Steven view on a realistic Bakalava note in fragrance . I personally smelled this. Really very realistic to the dessert

  • Perfect time of the year for a baklava inspired fragrance! We always have a selection of the filo, honey and pistachio confection at Christmas to share with friends and family. The use of amberwood and tonka as a strong base is genius. I appreciate that Steven thinks it’s a sophisticated gourmand. I’m in MD, USA.

  • Happy to know Baklava Royale is made by such a great, and accomplished perfumer like Bertrand Duchaufour , with creative direction of Gabriela from Gabby Loves Perfumes , thanks for the info Michelyn .
I’d love to win the fragrance because of the delicious gourmand and spicy aspects , and especially the comforting base . Steven said there’s a level of sophistication is the fragrance, the honey and vanilla i think will make it a bit seductive too , LBD is waiting for me . I know I’d enjoy Baklava Royale especially during the Holiday Season.
Aubade (Lyrik) , collaboration between Julien Rasquinet and Dominique Ropion , is the best Navitus fragrance I’ve smelled . Aubade (Lyrik) , The Embrace and Navus are the Navitus Parfums fragrances I own.
“Is there a holiday dessert that brings back memories?”
Yes , two to be precise baklava and strudel

  • I didn’t realize that Bertrand had done so many fragrances for Navitus. He is a perfume genius! Steve can explain a smell like no other. Not an easy task. I love Baklava and would love to win this. My sister in law made a pumpkin/mincemeat pie that I cannot forget to this day. Thinking of this I may do it for Xmas. Mincemeat on the bottom with a pumpkin pie filling baked on top. I also love panettone. Thanks for the chance. Happy Holidays to all!! USA.

  • Yes, yes, yes!!! I am in. I love how Bertrand Duchaufour knows what he’s doing. Amazing perfumer. Baklava Royale sounds so interesting, I don’t like to smell like dessert but it depends on how ingredients are mixed. My favorite now is Xerjoff Italica. I can’t wait to try Baklava…

Baklava is such a splendid treat and, being Greek, I trust Steven to recognize a realistic rendition. I’d love to give this gourmand a try!

  • Steven’s reviews are always wonderfull informative! I was particularly happy to hear that thus blend isn’t overly sweet, as i smp sweet notes. Sounds loely!

  • Wow at all the HUGE names working on fragrances for Navitus, I’m so pumped for Baklava Royale. Bertrand Duchaufour is a famous perfumer for a good reason, Timbuktu is on my skin at the moment. I was not aware of Gabby Loves Perfumes , I’ll check her channel on YouTube .
I like how Steven described the fragrance, delicious pastry with chopped nuts, filo , grilled almonds on the bed of honey and vanilla. With the help of Bertrand Duchaufour pastry like baklava meets niche perfumery, my expectations are so high, can’t wait. Personally I’m glad Baklava Royale is a great gourmand , done in a classy , and not childish sticky way.

I love baklava and I love gourmand fragrances, so I enjoyed learning about Baklava Royale. I sometimes worry about a sweetness overdose with some gourmands, but the almond and citrus notes here prevent it from being too sweet. Coziness, positive emotions , romantic occasions all are part of the festive sensation coming from Baklava Royale . To my surprise fragrance is not overly sweet, or powdery , it checks all the boxes, I’ll gladly wear it on dates, or concerts. Other than Timbuktu for example Bertrand Duchaufour is the perfumer behind the original Amouage Jubilation XXV, Penhaligon’s Sartorial, L’Artisan Noir Exquis and Traversee du Bosphore , and Navitus Absolutio, I know he did great again with Baklava Royale.
Holiday Fruitcake and Gingerbread Cookies do bring memories

  • In my personal list of favorite perfumers Bertrand Duchaufour one of the greatest ever, I’d say top 3 . He composed iconic fragrances for MDCI Parfums, Amouage, Naomi Goodsir, Neela Vermeire, The Vagabond Prince, Penhaligon’s , L’Artisan Parfumeur . I really like his work with Navitus and their sub brands

“who has created or co-created 17 fragrances with Navitus Parfums”

Plus 6 fragrances he composed for Vivamor and 2 for Galleria Parfums, sister brands to Navitus.
Navitus Parfums fragrances are all made with quality ingredients, and composed by renowned perfumers . Both the premium line , and Vivamor sub-brand are steps in the right direction.
I like Steven’s the inside information about how Baklava Royale was made , collab with Gabriela aka GabbyLovesPerfumes , the perfumer, the scent profile and its mouthwatering qualities. Bertrand Duchaufour uses honey, orange blossom , nuts and vanilla so well. Since I’ve smelled Baklava Royale already I can say i almost fully agree with Steven, the fragrance is definitely not as sweet as expected, at least on my skin, with pronounced nutty and cedar accords, especially in the drydown. Top gourmand for more mature people not looking for sugary sweet scents.
I can pick up some similarities, partially of course with Navitus The Embrace and Ultimate Aphrodisiac by Vivamor Parfums, both composed by another great performer, Sidonie Lancesseur.
If I have to rate my favorite Navitus Parfums fragrances , not counting Vivamor and Galleria Parfums:
    1. Soir Exclusif , also composed by Bertrand Duchaufour
    2. Serenade/Empyreal/Baklava Royale
    3. Exralt Nuit/The Embrace
Kozunak, very similar to Panettone holiday cake always brings back memories
    All profiles I already follow , @waltherp99bg
    Thanks a lot

  • Steven review was like a trip to a Greek Christmas gathering , joyous celebrations , and a big plate of home made baklava.
Baklava Royale is perfect for such festive occasions, I can’t go wrong with honey, pistachios and vanilla fragrance made by a genius like Bertrand Duchaufour.
My favorite Navitus Parfums fragrance is Navus , I’m also into XO Brandy, Absolutio , and Vivamor .
I eat Sacher Torte and Baklava all year round , the two also bring a lot of memories
    Thank you for the opportunity

Steven’s review and in-depth description of this Navitus creation is spot on. • Hello , Pastry Chef in the house

“For our annual holiday post, I asked Video Contributor Steven Gavrielatos to review the new Navitus Parfums Baklava Royale, which is composed by Bertrand Duchaufour, with the creative direction of Gabriela from the channel Gabby Loves Perfumes. ”

    Thank you Michelyn, great idea

Bertrand Duchaufour career is remarkable , he cooked so many successful, beautiful and popular fragrances , from Jubilation XXV from Amouage to Timbuktu and Noir Exquis from L’Artisan Parfumeur.

Now as a Classically Trained in Paris Pastry Chef training and working under the great Pierre Hermé, one of the very best Pastry Chefs in the world i can say :

“This delicious pastry combines honey with chopped nuts and filo and Bertrand Duchaufour brought this gourmand perfume to life! Grilled almonds and pistachio rest on a bed of honey and vanilla”

    From the introduction

    And

“As a matter of fact if you ever consumed the sweet treat that is baklava you have an idea of what it smells like”

from the YouTube video. I’ll be as short as possible but there are multiple different recipes for baklava worldwide, some not only taste but smells very different from each other. Some are heavy on the cinnamon, some on cardamom, some use orange water, some rose water, some both…and so on.

No matter the variation Bertrand Duchaufour used for inspiration of Baklava Royale I’d say I would love to win the fragrance.

A lot of famous perfumers worked with Navitus, not just Bertrand Duchaufour.
Jorge Lee is the one , who cooked my two favorites Navitus Parfums fragrances, Vivamor and Serenade.

The first cake i started making as a kid was Chocolate Ganache Cake with Coconut, good old days….
Appreciate the gourmand intro , gourmand review, and the giveaway campaign

Thanks for the nice review Steven. Very glad that you introduced Gabriela to us.

    Really beautiful presentation.

I think this fragrance is quite interesting as it creating a wearable in no mean feat – it is quite intense in it’s sweetness. The grilled almond note is quite neat – I have not seen that before. I think the use of orange blossom is quite the winner here to keep the scent level.

    Cheers from WI, USA
