Molinard Figue, Vanille and Patchouli Review + 3 You should Be Wearing Draw

Best Molinard fragrances

Molinard in Grasse

Molinard is one of the most storied Houses in all of French Perfumery. Its history dates from 1849, when a small shoppe opened in Grasse and quickly became a favorite among the wealthy and royalty. In the early 1900s,  M. Adam Sittler, the founder and first generation of perfumers opened a factory and mansion continues to be a major tourist and historical attraction in the area. There you can see how the fragrances are created and step back into time and visit a museum of Molinard perfumes throughout history. Habanita, created in 1921 is an icon of French Fragrances.

Molinard Patchouli, Fig and Vanille reviews

via Sebastian

Today Molinard is still creating wonderful and memorable perfumes. Célia Lerouge-Bénard is the fifth generation of perfumers and the first woman executive in the House’s History.  –Michelyn Camen, Editor in Chief

At CaFleureBon we have a popular series, where our editors and contributors recommend indie, designer and niche perfumes: “The Three You should be wearing”. Editor Sebastian Jara reviews the three Molinard fragrances you should be wearing, each built around a key ingredient; Figue, with its juicy pulpy fruit is perfect for summer,  Vanille, where the vanilla is sweet but not sticky and the earthy and chocolate tinged patchouli in Patchouli.

Disclosure: Sebastian requested his bottles of Figue, Vanille and Patchouli. His opinions are his own

Thanks for the in depth review on the three Sebastian. I’d definitely be interested in the Figue and Patchouli.

Sebastian with another great review. Never tried Molinard, but would love to Vanille.
    Pennsylvania USA

  • I’m a fan of Sebastian’s detailed review especially on the notes. I would love to try Figue as I love fruity/green notes and perfect for coming spring and summer.
    Plainfield, IL USA

  • I always enjoy Sebastian’s colorful and informative reviews. I especially love how he can discern notes within a composition and explain them so well. I had never heard of this house before his review. I find the history behind the house and the prestige it has acquired very fascinating. If I am chosen as a winner, I would love to try Vanille, as I am somewhat of a vanilla addict. It’s probably my favorite note in fragrance.

  • Trisha Eure Withrow says:

I like his enthusiasm about the house of Molinard…and his love of patchouli! I enjoy all his fragrance knowledge…

  • Kirsten Castagnola says:

Oh I love Molinard! I had a bottle of Patchouli that I gave to my best friend, and dreamt about it since! I loved the review, especially the Figue description! I would love to have a bottle of Vanille, as I adore vanilla and have a new baby who would also love a cuddly yummy scent! I’m in Florida USA

  • Addie Edwards says:

Thank you for this review. Sebastian reviews are learning experience for me, He takes me all over world with perfume.

  • Husani Brown says:

I enjoy Sebastian’s adjectives with each fragrance. Without actually smelling them, I can at least understand what they would smell like!
I’ve learned this fragrance house dates back several hundred years ago, so I can appreciate the longevity and the experience that comes with this fragrance. I’ve never smelled any Molinard fragrances, but my first choice would be Patchouli. I’m looking for a really good patchouli inspired fragrance to add to my collection.

  • I remember the Molinard factory from my visit to Grasse a few years ago. It is such a lovely setting. Very in depth review Sebastian. I would love to try either Figue or Patchouli. I purchased a discovery set when I was there but it’s long gone. I’m in the US.

  • Sebastian’s passion for patchouli always brings me joy given my love for the note, too. I had heard of Molinard previously but didn’t realize it was such a storied house. I’ll have to give them a visit if/when I visit Grasse! Would like to be entered to win Patchouli, please. I’m in FL, USA

  • thank you for reminding me of my grandmere who wore molinard de molinard! so i knew a little about the house. all 3: figue, patchouli & vanille, sound extremely wearable, but i’d try figue 1st

  • ScentitarFragrance says:

I enjoyed sebastions introduction. He always gives us the main accords and how the fragrances feel. I have always been interested in this brand and already looked into them. I enjoy the focus on fewer or even one accord. I am most intetested in the patchouli ! Located in ms, usa

  • Molinard de Molinard was my favorite fragrance in the 90s. It’s a pleasure to know they are still making fragrances. I recently stumbled onto Sebastian’s channel. It’s very hard to know fragrances when many stores only carry celebrity scents that are not my style. He and his cohorts have opened my senses to more than I could’ve imagined. I need all the perfume! Sebastian’s description of Patchouli made my mouth water. I need to smell it!

  • Gabriel Garcia Leyva says:

    Great review spotlight.
I have heard a lot about the house thanks to Sebastian, they come across to me as a very holiday relax type of scents, comfy and ocean calm. I will reach for the patchouli.
    Thanks

  • Bryant Worley says:

What I enjoyed about Sebastian’s review was the picture he caused one to envision as he is outlining the fragrances. For example, the way he explained the vanilla would cause one to envision someone baking a dessert, as he sounded like it was his fr6he was mixing together. I would prefer Patchouli. I reside in Waldorf, MD, USA.

  • Thank you for the giveaway, and the review. I was coincidentally doing a search for the Violette Eau de Parfum from Molinard so this is great timing for learning more about the house. I like how Sebastian described the Patchouli fragrance, and it sounds the most intriguing to me. I didn’t know the house has been around for over 100 yrs – great intro about the house! I’d be most interested in the Patchouli, and then the Figue. Thanks!

  • I have been interested in both Figue and Vanille so I was so glad Sebastian chose those two especially to review. I havent tried them but have tried a couple Fig frags and enjoyed them as well as loving vanilla. From Sebastian’s descriptions I think I’d enjoy both. I knew Molinard was a historic house but didnt know that there is a museum where u can go and learn about it and how the perfumes are made. It’s hard to choose between the 2 I mentioned but I suppose if I win I’d choose Figue. I do live in CT USA.Thanks so much for the draw!

  • Tyler J Sweeney says:

  • Greg Burris says:

I was introduced to this brand by Sebastian’s YouTube channel. Wife and I both love this brand! Quite the history very interesting! Next purchase will be the fig and vanilla. Thank you , Greg B.

  • GrigVeronika says:

Sebastian is a perfume professional. Before buying a new perfume, I always come to Sebastian’s videos for his feedback and recommendations. I absolutely adore Molinard by Molinard. I learned that if you ever buy Molinard, you will always come back wanting more. Habanita is a masterpiece of the house of Molinard.

  • I was touring Grasse two years ago and I went to the museum and all the molinard perfumes. From Sebastian’s video I will say yes to the Patch. Really great video with good explanations and nice intro

  • ThatMulattoDude says:

I really enjoyed the brief history lesson about this house as I’ve never tried any of their fragrances. As always, Sebastian paints a vivid scent picture and profile so that viewers get a good sense of the vibe of the fragrance. I would like to win Figue, thanks for the opportunity!

  • I learned that they date back a couple hundred years , their perfumery is located in Grasse France and this is the house that made habanita! Also learned Sebastian’s favorites which always helps me because anything he loves I tend to like as well. I came across his review of intense cafe and am currently in love with this new to me discovery!
I always enjoy how in detailed Sebastian is in his reviews. If I won I would love to try vanille.

    Thanks for the chance!

  • bigscoundrel says:

Sebastian did a great job (as always!) breaking down the notes for each of these fragrances and taking you on their respective scent journeys. I learned that I can visit the museum of Molinard perfumes if I’m ever in Grasse. I’m a fan of gourmands, so I prefer Vanille. USA.

  • Mubasheer Mohammed says:

I love how detailed Sebastians videos are. he is not just reading our fragrance notes like many other reviewers but actually lets me know how a fragrance would make me feel and what kind of experience I will have. This really helps me make an informed buying decision.

  • I’m a fan of Molinard and enjoy a good earthy patchouli scent. The neroli and geranium notes in Patchouli sound great. Thanks for another fabulous draw! USA

  • Until this review, I was not familiar with Molinard. The three that Sebastian recommended sound absolutely delicious & somewhat non-linear. Win or lose, I would love to sample the complete line to find the best matches to my skin & personality. For the purpose of the give-away, I would be interested in Figue. Much Gratitude!! Steve from Venice, CA!!

  • I appreciate that Sebastian gave in-depth descriptions of the fragrances while still keeping it short and sweet. I didn’t know that Molinard started in the 1800’s! I’d love to try Vanille. WA USA

  • Thanks for introducing this French brand to me. Didn’t realize Molinard is based in Grasse and that it has such a long history. I am a fan of traditional fragrances and will definitely be checking out Habanita this year. I also thought Sebastian’s review was very helpful in describing the scent profiles of each of the three fragrances for us – all three sound lovely, would prefer Figure over Patchouli and Vanille. Regards from Boston USA.

  • I always love when he calls something yummy and delicious! LOL. 🙂 I’ve owned Molinards for years. I didn’t know it is a woman owner and perfumer now. How the industry has changed! I think I would have to try the Figue.

  • Enjoyed the review by Sebastian. I would like to try all three but for now I’d go with Vanille. Haven’t tried anything from Molinard. Thanks, Ca

  • Sebastian got me into fragrances. I’m just starting my collection and would love to have a Molinard Figue.

  • Sebastian got me into fragrances. I am just starting my collection. Would love to try the Figue

  • Evgeni Mirkin says:

Always watch Sebastian reviews. Love love. Very intriguing the Patchouli would love to try.thanks

  • Great review Sebastian! I would love to try Molonard Figue based on the description. The exposure to niche brands is appreciated.

  • I’ve been eyeing this house since Sebastian’s review of Vanilla Patchouli months ago. Since then I’ve been hearing a lot of positive reviews about this house, in particular Figue which sounds amazing. Also, these bottles are absolutely beautiful to me. If I were to win I would choose Figue, which I think would really work well in the tropical climate in which I live. Thank you for the opportunity.

  • I know Molinard because of Habanita , most, if not all fragrance enthusiasts do.
Love the original version and the modernized EDP . Some of the flankers are good too.
The purple bottles I know nothing about.
Most appealing to me is Vanille because of the vanilla and caramel mix.
    Thanks for the giveaway. USA

  • As usual Sebastian and Cafleurebon introduced me to another perfumer. I wasn’t familiar with Molinard before this. I have a bottle of Debaser and very interested in the figue. I would appreciate more videos where Sebastian discusses different houses and their creative directions

  • Darryl S Farrington says:

Thanks Sebastian as always great content very intresred inthe patcouli and the vanilla love the notes on both

  • I so enjoy Sebastian’s descriptions of fragrance. Unlike many other reviewers, he has an innate ability to bring to reality the auras and flavors of the fragrances. It is like an immersive sensory journey listening to him speak. Also, as this is a new interest, I was not aware of the longstanding histories of many of these houses such as Molinard as described in the intro. Although my safe bet is always a warm vanilla, I would love to try the Figue.
    Wisconsin ….. the frozen tundra….
    Thank you!

  • I Would love a bottle of the Figue for my small collection, I have heard of this house but unfortunately have not had a chance to try any of the fragrances. Thank You

  • I have loved fragrance my entire life, and I am new subscriber to Sebastian. I love how detailed his reviews are, and I have been so curious to try Molinard for several years now. I love that he mentioned Molinard is a few hundred years old, and how he drew on his personal experience growing up in the Mediterranean when he described the Figue fragrance. I would LOVE to try out either the Vanille or the Figue offerings. Thank you and so generous of you to extend this to his audience!

  • Rose O'Connor says:

I have always wanted to try Molinard, but haven’t yet. I would be interested in the Figue or the Patchouli. 🙂

  • Rose O'Connor says:

I so enjoyed Sebastian’s video on Molinard. I am a new subbie. I have always wanted to try Molinard, but haven’t yet. I would be interested in the Figue or the Patchouli. 🙂

  • Sebastian can so accurately pick-up notes, but what I find most helpful (especially when I’m feeling naughty and indulge in some fragrance ‘blind buying’) is how he elaborates on the personality of that note. For instance, vanilla–being in so many perfumes–is a beast of an ingredient that could play many roles in a perfume. Sebastian remarks how in Molinard’s Vanille, the vanilla is sweet and gourmand; probably why he describes the scent as warm and comforting. It is especially important to discuss what the notes are actually doing instead of just listing them off…like hello! I can read the Fragrantica listing my self, thank you. This is made even more important when it comes to scents that keep their scent pyramids minimal. Molinard can get away that; being that they are based in Grasse, I’m sure of their access to the finest ingredients. Although the Vanille sounds delicious, I want the Figue! Recently tried Philosykos by Diptyque and now I am on the hunt for fig fragrances that also focus on the fruit. I do adore my green scents, but its made just that much better when the creaminess accents the fig leafs and you get this wet, reinvigorating moment. Kindly, From Brooklyn!

  • Evelyn Rivera says:

I founded Molinard house from Sebastian last video, after that I bought Vanille patchouli. I wish I can visit Molinard in France to be at the museum and historical area. I would love to have a bottle of Vanille, my favorite note, it sounds very cozy and warm. .

  • I enjoyed the concise and descriptive style from Sebastion; learned that Molinard is from Grasse; and I would prefer Figue. Cheers!

  • David Iskandar says:

I have never seen a review or sampled the brand myself. So I learned a lot from Sebastian’s review. I enjoyed how he described the fragrances and almost had me imagine how they smelled. I have officially been introduced to the brand! I am very excited to smell Patchouli.

  • Thank you for the review and the giveaway. Sebastian’s passion always shows through his reviews and his note breakdowns are easy to relate to, like the Vanilla soaked in dry fruit line :). I also did not realize Molinard has been going strong for a century and 3 quarters. I’d love to try Patchouli out. I’m in USA

  • IvanVelikov says:

Molinard Patchouli I have, so my choice is Figue . Spring in knocking on the corner, and fresh and zingy fig and citruses, is a perfect match for the spring.
    Thanks for the opportunity. USA

  • I always appreciate a straightforward description of the notes that compose a fragrance, and, of the three Molinard fragrances, I would like to select the Patchouli. In the USA.

  • Molinard is very old! From a small shop in 1849 to a beautiful mansion and tourist site now. Loved Sebastian’s video and would love Patchouli fragrance if I win. Thank you USA

  • azul_like_blue says:

I was so excited when Sebastian teased about a future upload that would be focused on Molinard fragrances! Watching the video on his favorite lavender fragrances is what led me to purchase a bottle of Lavande and I absolutely love it.

This review was fantastic. I’m new to fragrances and it’s a fascinating world with so much tangible history that can still be enjoyed through so many fragrances that are created and reinvented. Molinard being a pillar in that pantheon of that generational influence isn’t surprising given what I’ve seen of the fragrance community’s love for their work. It being in the fifth generation and Lerouge-Bénard being the houses first woman executive reminds me a lot of the house of Dior’s current place in history with Maria Grazia Chiuri as the fashion house’s first woman artistic director.

That said, I loved Sebastian’s personal note about growing up in the mediterranean and how special the Figue is to him for its unique composition drawing that memory out. Like I said, I’m new to fragrances but I also am a cook and my favorite part of the fragrance journey is imagining scents based off aromatics and ingredients I’m so used to in cooking. Sebastian’s note about the Vanille’s gourmand feel with the vanilla pod base-notes making it feel like a compote was wonderful and is exactly the kind of thing I love about his reviews.

I would absolutely love to have the bottle of the Figue after hearing all the notes and how it doesn’t just focus on the leaves for a green or tea scent with the jasmine in the base but a fruitier touched scent. Thank you so much. <3

  • Very insightful presentation by Sebastian. He paints such vivid pictures of the scents he presents. Sometimes I swear I can almost smell what he is describing. Very weird admission, I know! The patchouli will be my choice.

  • Who doesn’t like playful vanilla fragrances, with fruity touches and caramel? Vanille is my choice.
Molinard do know how to do the vanilla and caramel together, I’m happy to have Secret Sucre.
Unlike the purple ones, Secret Sucre is from Molinard high end line called Prive. To me the Prive line is on considerably higher level than all others , how they smell , the bottles , presentation… they are just better.
Thanks for the draw guys. USA

  • I liked how Sebastian pointed out differences between Molinard’s Vanille, Patchouli, and Figue and other approaches to using these notes. He gave a sense of what makes Molinard’s versions distinctive. I would go for Figue, and have not experienced any Molinard fragrances, but I learned a bit about the history of the company, which I enjoyed. I am in the US.

  • Sebastian reviews are always great. I am kinda new to the fragrance community but I have learned a ton in the last 6months watching reviews like sebastian has posted. I would absolutely love to try Vanille as I love that note and as he said it’s a lot of Vanilla 🙂 I learned that this house has been around for a long while! That’s amazing. Thank you for this opportunity and can’t wait to try these fragrances in the future!

  • I could be wrong, but I think Molinard at one point were out of business, and revived later, but of course I could be wrong.
Figs are really delicious, I’ll go with Figue because both the fig leaves, and the fruit are included, and there’s also blackcurrant. Thank you. VA

  • ROBERT CALLAWAY says:

In the review of the Molinard’s offerings by Sebastian (Looking Feeling Smelling Great) I enjoyed the detailed breakdown of notes and how the scent would be best worn according to time of year. I own various fragrances but am new to the Molinard brand. I am highly interested in Experiencing Molinard Patchouli as the notes are more to my liking and style (even though I do care for vanilla based fragrances as well). Thanks for the opportunity to try these fragrances!

  • Rob Callaway says:

In Sebastian’s review of Molinard I enjoyed the detailed breakdown of notes for each fragrance and the best suggested time of year to wear them as well the brief history on the house. I own various fragrances but am new to the Molinard brand. I would enjoy experiencing Molinard Patchouli as the notes fit my style and taste. (Even though I do enjoy vanilla based fragrances as well). Thank you for the opportunity to possibly try one of these scents! – I am USA subscriber

  • I own Molinard Vanille and it’s divine! I’d love to own Figue also.
Sebastians reviews are so descriptive and he breaks down the notes for us, I enjoy his reviews.
    I’m in the US.

  • I love the description of the Figue eau de parfum from Molinard. It is very affordable which is nice.
I of course would loves you try the Figue USA

  • Sebastian with another great review. Never tried Molinard, but I am now very interested
especially at these price points I would like to hopefully win Molinard Vanille.
    Im here in Georgia, USA

  • I’ve heard the name Molinard, but never smelled or even seen their fragrances in person.
I’m a Pastry Chef and I always compare fragrances to some kind of food ‍
Vanille is my pick, Sebastian description reminded me of butterscotch cake , with candied fruits I do once a week in my bakery.
Appreciate the review, and the giveaway campaign

  • I liked his explanations to each of his review on these 3 perfume. And learning about this house of molinari that I’ve never heard of before. I would prefer patchouli

  • I love Sebastian’s reviews on all of these fragrances! Learning that Molinard has been around for over 200 years is impressive.

The reviews of both the Vanille and Patchouli caught my attention; the caramel/butterscotch notes in Vanille and the rich, earthy, almost chocolate notes in Patchouli really spoke to me.

I’d love a bottle of the Vanille, should I be chosen. Thank you!

  • As always Sebastian, your reviews are informative and enjoyable. I would love to try the Vanille and the Patchouli. I have Ambre and really love it. Thank you for the review and for the draw. I”m in the USA

  • m.r.everything says:

Patchouli is a note I have been really digging right now. It is funny, because I have also been really looking in to the Molinard brand. I recently purchased my first Molinard, which happens to be Cuir… quite simply, stunning! For a retail value of $65, how in the world could you go wrong? It is easily worth 3x that price!

I have had my eye on a few of the Molinard’s since purchasing Cuir. Vanille, Patchouli, Vanille Patchouli, Ambre, and Rose are on my list to blind buy. The quality of Cuir mixed with the prices of the gorgeous bottles… I want them!

Patchouli is next on my list so that would definitely be the one I would have to choose. Thank you Sebastian, for the great review as always… I enjoyed your thoughts on Vanille, Figue, and Patchouli. I already knew which one I would want, but I can say that your review helped confirm my decision! Thank you team Europerfumes for this generous and incredible opportunity! It is greatly appreciated! Thank you Michelyn, for your opening remarks, slight history on the brand, and for putting this all together, as always! I live in Delaware, US.

Being someone who is brand new in discovering Niche/House fragrances, I would have probably never heard of or about Molinard perfumes without being subscribed to Sebastian’s You Tube channel. I really enjoy how not only informative and knowledgable Sebatian was on these fragrances, but also how very enthusiastic and excited he was while reviewing these fragrances. I learned that in South France their is a fragrance house that has been creating fine perfumes for generations. I am glad to have learned about yet another brand of fine fragrances! I hope you will consider me in your give away. Thanks!

  • Wilson Siavichay says:

as always Sebastian. very good review, I had already heard this niche house but had not tried it yet, and I would like to try Figue, because it would remind me of my childhood and my house where we had fruit trees and especially fig trees that had a unique aroma

  • First time hearing about Molinard. Love finding out about new houses.
    I would prefer Molinard Patchouli.

  • If you love perfumes, you should know Molinard and Habanita. To me it smells more masculine, and I’m sure if it was 2018-2020 release it would have been marketed as unisex.
I don’t own it, but I have Ambre Lumiere , top amber scent almost as good as my favorite amber Amber Absolute Tom Ford. I recommend it to other fans of Amber Absolute, and 3 guys bought it because of me.
Value with Molinard is great. You basically getting quality fragrances for midrange designer prices.
I want to win Figue, the most versatile of the 3.

  • Molinard’s Habanita, one of the great names in the history of French perfumes is so distinctive. It always makes me smile. I often saw Molinard bottles when shopping in France years ago. It’s wonderful to be reminded of their beauty while watching Sebastian’s review. Thank you to Sebastian for describing the notes in Figue, Vanille, and Patchouli so clearly. I would most like to try Patchouli’s earthy chocolate. Thank you to Molinard and CaFleureBon for the generous giveaway.

  • Michael Prince says:

I enjoyed learning about the history of Molinard fragrances dating back to 1849. I heard good things about Molinard fragrances especially regarding Figue, Vanille, Patchouli, and Vanille Patchouli. I haven’t had the opportunity to try anything from this house, but they all sound like very affordable niche quality offerings. If I win I would pick Patchouli.

  • Thanks for another great review, I Sebastian! I’ve heard of Molinard fragrances and I know it’s an old house famous for Habanita; although, I haven’t sampled any from Molinard yet. I excited for this draw. I’d love to win Fig. Thanks for this opportunity. – CA, USA

  • I have visited Molinard in Grasse also, and I had such a wonderful time testing fragrances and purchasing there. I didn’t realize that Figue was so popular within the fragrance community! I liked it and Patchouli both when I tried them at the museum/factory in Grasse, but Vanille was my favorite of these three that I smelled while I was there. So, if I win, I would choose Vanille. I am in the US 🙂

  • It’s the first time I’ve heard Molinard, but I like how affordable they are. For the price you can rarely get something decent.
I like to get Vanille , I wonder what vanilla, caramel and compote would smell like .
    I’m excited.
    Regards. USA

  • I appreciate Sebastian giving the price points and a little background on House of Molinard. Ahh, French perfume! I love the H of M has been supplying for so long. Three fragrances that I’d be hard pressed to choose from. Love the descriptions of them. Figue, I’d definitely try but the earthiness of Patchouli and the warmth of Vanille sound luscious. I am a lover of all three of these in perfume. I will probably need to try them all.

  • Another excellent review by Sebastian and all three sound amazing! I loved his description of the Figue and that will be my choice. You get both the fruit and the leaves and that is what I love. Thanks for the giveaway and I live in the US!

  • While I’ve heard so much about the Molinard brand, I’ve never tried anything from this house. I love the notes and description of Vanille.
I live in PA in the US.

  • As always, Sebastian delivered an awesome review of these three fragrances. I enjoyed his thoroughness as well as the historical aspects of the house in the beginning of his video. It’s quite astonishing to have a fragrance house last so long and continue to put out dynamite scents. I’d love to own a bottle of the Figue! Cheers!

  • Sebastian’s Molinard fragrance review was very informative and interesting. All of them sound beautiful. I would really love to try them all out but my favorite would definitely be Vanille. Please enter me in your giveaway.

Amazing Review Sebastian! The patchouli sounds amazing! I am super intrigued about these houses that have been around from the beginning in and around Grasse. The history of perfumery is so incredibly interesting. I would prefer the patchouli out of the three.
