In our  CaFleureBon Creative Directors in Perfumery SeriesClara Molloy who co-founded Memo Paris Fragrances wrote “The name of the brand, Memo, comes from Memory. Olfaction is our most archaic sense. One of the first we explore as human beings. It’s link to our sensations of space and time and I believe, is something that has not been totally discovered by scientists. Perfumes have a strong connection to your soul, to your inner self… A fragrance can reveal you, transform you, it is far more powerful than people usually think”.  Mme. Molloy works in collaboration with perfumer Alienor Massenet and has since the brand’s inception in 2006. There are eight fragrances in the series Cuir Nomades, which was introduced in 2013, each evoking leather inspired by travel and place. Irish Leather was the first, homage to Mme. Malloy’s husband and business partner John Molloy, who was born in Ireland.  In 2019, Sr. Editor Ida Meister reviewed Oriental Leather(which she adored) and now Editor Sebastian Jara tests the newest from the Cuir Nomades, Memo Paris Ocean Leather.

From its name and the photo on the bottle, you might think is another entry into the aquatic genre of fragrances, which many shy away from. There is a touch of the sea in Memo Paris Ocean Leather, but more aromatic sea breeze and sea grass than a typical marine-inspired fragrance. For Sebastian, the leather is subtle. There is a green vegetal vibe from the sage, basil and vetiver that will surprise you. If you are like Sebastian and want a new take on the classification, the best way to try a perfume is not necessarily by reading notes, or marketing copy.  You can order a bottle or sample online at Osme Perfumery.  Main notes: Mandarin, Clary Sage, Leather accord, vetiver

  • Another great review from Sebastian. His description of it as aromatic and green makes it sound quite appealing. I am a big fan of violet.

  • Sebastian says Oriential Leather did not work for him but Ocean Leather has impressed him. The perfume reminds him of the herbal plants near the sea when the tide is low. I am familiar with the Cuir Nomades series and my fav. is African Leather. USA

  • Joseph Bleazard says:

As always, Sebastian gives a great breakdown and honest review of the fragrance. Like some of the other fragrances he reviews, I find this note combination very intriguing and would love to try it.

  • Emilio Lua says:

Sebastian’s videos are always a pleasure to watch and very informative! I’m not familiar with this house but have heard wonders.

  • Nephilim983 says:

Loved how he explained leather type and compared it to some other Memo releases. So far, I have had pleasure to test any Memo fragrances.

  • Jonathan Warren says:

Sebastian’s review of this, leaves me excited to smell and wear the earthy tones of this with the mandarin citrus, and the trails of the slight aquatic nuisances

  • ThatMulattoDude says:

I’ve always liked aquatic aromatics as a genre of fragrance. I’ve grown to enjoy green ones as well, which Sebastian says is a noticeable quality in this one. I’ve never tried any Memo Paris fragrances but I like what I’ve seen and read about this particular one. Thanks for the opportunity of the giveaway. Best from Virginia, USA!

  • Michael Werno says:

I loved Sebastian’s description of of the smell of the plants on the beach, this one sounds really interesting since there aren’t many fragrances with both aquatic and leathery touches. I really like the Cuirs Nomads line, African Leather is definitely my favorite that I’ve tried so far.

  • Big fan of Memo Italian Leather and was surprised this to Sebastian isn’t really leathery. I trust him and want to get my nose on this because not a fan of aquatic

Sebastian, thanks for the introduction to Memo Paris Ocean Leather. I’ve watched other Memo reviews you have created for African Leather and your Best Leather Fragrances reviews. This review caught my attention as I am a longtime fan of leather and green fragrances. An aromatic leather fragrance with a good dose of green – mandarin, sage plus something aquatic, which then settles to leather with vetiver. A very happy fragrance. Something we could all use during these trying days.

  • ErnestoGonzalez says:

Phenomenal review, great insight. Pretty new to the fragrance world. Would be so cool to get my hands on Ocean Leather. Thank you so much!

  • Sebastian’s note breakdowns are always detailed, informative and he’s unafraid to say what works for him and what doesn’t. He has become my favorite fragrance reviewer on YouTube and I’ve learnt of most niche houses from his channel. I love that he found Ocean Leather not overly aquatic. My favorite from Memo Paris is Italian Leather. Thank you for the review and the giveaway. I’m in USA

  • Bryant Worley says:

Sebastian makes this sound like something that will be good to wear – smells good, not overly aquatic, aromatic, green. And he did his research, which I appreciate. I am only familiar with Memo Paris via YouTube reviews. Hopefully that will change after I’m chosen to receive this. I live in Waldorf, MD, USA.

  • kramerongo says:

Now I know that all of Memo Paris frag are named Leather. Sadly Im not familiar with Memo brand. Hope to

  • Shayne Law says:

Sebastian’s review of Ocean Leather sounds amazing. The note breakdown is incredible and it sounds very decadent. I am a 50 year-old fragrance neophyte who has “Come of age” during a COVID era requiring blind buys. As such, I have not had the privilege of getting my nose on any Memo Paris fragrances. I have been blind buying based on Sebastian reviews and those of other Youtubers, but this would be the king of the collection. The sound of mandarin and sage sounds amazing and I love vetiver. I love green fragrances and who does not appreciate a “happy, uplifting” fragrance. I would be honored to win a bottle and appreciate the opportunity!

  • Sebastian’s review really piqued my interest in this fragrance. He truly knows his stuff when it comes to describing fragrances and his take on this scent is fantastic. I’ve never tried anything from this house before but I’d love to! Thanks for the great review and the great giveaway. Commenting from Kentucky USA.

  • Jeremy Brandon says:

I enjoyed how Sebastian’s presentation. He goes over all notes of the product. Now I know what I am getting myself in for.I am thoroughly excited to smell this scent!

  • Mara Bungard says:

I’m so intrigued by Sebastian’s note that the leather in this fragrance has qualities of vetiver

  • I had the same thought as Sebastian too, that an aquatic leather sounded bizarre and strange. I do appreciate that the aquatic is gentle and just weaves lightly throughout the fragrance. I wouldn’t have expected this fragrance to be as green as it is, so I appreciate hearing that in the review. I do like leather and suede fragrances in general. I’ve seen additional reviews on the other leathers in this line, but I haven’t tried any of the leather fragrances yet. I live in te USA. Thanks for the giveaway!

  • I really enjoyed Sebastian’s review and getting clarification on what this fragrance is all about. It was nice to find out it isn’t a traditional aquatic. I love aromatic fragrances and love herbs in my scents. I haven’t tried any Memo Paris fragrances yet however this one sounds perfect to start with! The notes described are all notes I love. I also absolutely love the house’s aesthetic.

    Thanks for the fantastic giveaway!

  • Great review by Sebastian as always. Very clear and concise helps me to visualize the scent. I’m intrigued by the aquatic and herbaceous nuances mentioned. The aromatic (herbs, sage). I do enjoy green scents and Sebastian mentioned if you like green scents you would enjoy this fragrance. My favorite memo is lalibela!

  • Forgot to mention I live in the USA. Thanks for the giveaway! And a chance for one of us to try/own this fragrance

  • Awesome review by Sebastián. Memo Paris is one of my favorite houses. I own African Leather…. Italian Leather…. Moroccan Leather….and Irish Leather. Can’t wait to get my nose on Ocean Leather. Keep up the awesome job Sebastan and Cafleurebon!!

As a relatively new subscriber on Sebastian’s channel, I love his ability to describe fragrances to the point where I feel as though I can almost smell it myself! In this particular review, the moment he mentioned the basil and sage notes, I became ecstatic! Leathery fragrances are some of my most favorite, so to imagine leather combined with such a beautiful notes like mandarin, basil, and sage is just unreal. I am familiar with the Memo Paris Cuir Nomades series, and actually just recently purchased a bottle of African Leather, which I absolutely love. I am very excited about this new fragrance, Ocean Leather. I am very hopeful that I will be selected as the winner, but if not, I would just like to say thank you for the consideration! How exciting!!! Have a wonderful day.

  • Yes! I am very interested in this sample giveaway. What I enjoyed most about Sebastian’s review was how he described the scent as “uplifting” with the mandarin and sage combination of notes. Unlike Sebastian I do enjoy aquatic fragrances like Oud Minerale by Tom Ford. However this one sounds very unique being more aromatic and a leather. I am eager to try it! I have a bottle of Irish Leather from the Cuir Nomades series and have tried almost all the others. I am a huge fan of MEMO, Paris fragrances. I live in Seattle, Washington. Thank you, ÇaFleureBon! Jackie

  • I’ve only had experience with the tasteful Russian Leather (my favorite from the house!), though an herbal scent, mysterious as it may be, is for me – especially by the sea. I’m not sure if this would take me on a trip back to the seaside of Cape Cod – though it’s a very aromatic place. I grow basil in my garden and sometimes just crush a leaf and rub it on my wrist to get the oils on my skin. It stays with me all day. So fresh. Nods for this review Sebastian – I dream of owning a bottle of this awesome sounding scent. You describe this as ‘happy’ and we can most definitely use a bit of this right now. Much love from Fort Worth! – TJ

  • I absolutely Love aromatic fragrances, and to see one that also has a leather note is just crazy! I’m super curious about this one. Sebastian was actually really into this fragrance, He actually said he loves this one which surprises me cause this isn’t really the kind of fragrance he normally gets super excited about which make me wanna try it all the more! I Love The Memo Paris Cuir Nomades series they are literally to die for. I would absolutely love to win a bottle of Memo Paris Ocean Leather.

  • Love Sebastian’s review about Ocean Leather for people who don’t like aquatics can enjoy the fragrance because there are hints of it and not full blown calone note that some people hate. Already have a sample but would not mind a full bottle of it. My favorite of the series is African Leather. Thanks for the giveaway. From the USA.

  • African Leather one of my favourite spicy fragrances of all time! Certainly familiar with the Cuir Nomades series. Difficult to get aquatic or marine notes right though, so I’m glad that it seems to work really well in this one. I LOVE that Sebastian gets basil at the top because it’s my favourite herb. Gotta be spicy if elemi and nutmeg are in there too. But I’m probably most intrigued about the vetiver in the base. Not too worried about the misleading name. It still sounds like a great one for the summer! Aromatic mandarin rules the day! USA

  • Bottle of Ocean Leather design is one of my faves and would look great on my desk as a save the ocean advocate! Sebastian is truly the perfume guy and is responsible for my love of Memo African leather and based on his review, this is the perfect subtle leather green drag to bridge the gap until it’s cold enough here in NY to wear it

  • Shannon Gaines says:

Greetings from Lexington, Kentucky USA! I have tried several of the Memo leather series but do not own any. My favorite so far is African Leather but I haven’t added it to my collection yet. I am not a huge fan of marine aquatic notes. Sebastian is the same, and the way that he described this as much more aromatic than aquatic. I love aromatics in fragrance so I am interested in sampling this fragrance.

  • supremeblends says:

Always loved Memo Paris. I have eau de memo and Africa. Leather but need to get my nose on ocean leather. Thanks to Sebastian, I have that chance! Thanks for all the new fragrance updates and fragrance tips.

  • While watching Sebastian’s video, I was thinking to myself that Ocean Leather sounds like a very happy, cheerful fragrance, and then later Sebastian confirmed it. I haven’t tried anything from Memo Paris, yet, hopefully some day soon. I love Sebastian’s reviews, as they are short, to-the-point, very clear in their descriptions, and bring them down to earthy, low-level details that people who haven’t tried these fragrances, can actually understand what they are about and even risk blind busy, especially for expensive perfumes. The imagery created by Sebastian was perfect – low-tides, aquatic plants, smells there, hints of those smells in the perfume, but not so much that people who don’t like aquatic fragrances can still enjoy them. Mandarin and basil are uplifting, clary sage is relaxing, and vetiver, of course, is vetiver. Thanks for the great review and the draw. Writing from the USA.

  • Helpful to know that this is a non-aquatic fragrance that has hints of sea breeze but is far more aromatic and green – which is a relief to me! The focus on sage and mandarin instead of marine notes makes this interesting. Would love to give this a sniff. Thanks for the draw. I live in the US.

  • Trinity33 says:

Very informative review by Sebastian as usual. I’m always a bit leery of aquatic scents but this sounds more like a beach flora scent than an ocean scent. I like the idea of vegetal sea grass and sea breeze with a. subtle hint of leather. Favorite Memo fragrance from this series is Irish Leather. Commenting from MD, USA.

  • Enjoyed the review. Sebastian like this one so far.
This is an interesting aquatic because it’s not too aquatic. I’d love to try this out and many other from MeMo. Haven’t got the chance to explore their House yet. Thanks, Ca

  • cruzinsp8 says:

Really enjoyed Sebastian’s review of Ocean Leather. I’m a newcomer to high end fragrances and recently found a fav with a Louis Vuitton scent. However, this review has peaked my interest and I’m certain I would fall in love with Ocean Leather. Mandarin and Sage are tantalizing scents and I doubt I could get ever enough of it! His description and enthusiasm for this scent has me wanting to try it so much!

  • Hi! I have samples of your African, French, and Italian leather fragrances. I love leather fragrances, herbal, citrus, spicy notes, and combos.
I live by the Coast (Moss Beach, CA) so was curious…Not sure where the whale comes in 🙂
Love Sebastian’s passion for fragrances and he definitely described this new fragrance in a very concise and engaging way !
Hope you will consider me for this giveaway!

  • Daniel Shiu says:

I love afrikan leather and I love Mandarin, I love how Sebastian from smelling great fragrance reviews explains the fragrance and his use of imagery with the notes.

  • Matt Chong says:

Sebastian is one of my favorite youtube fragrance reviewers! I loved how his accurately his description of fragrances paints a picture of what he’s reviewing smells like. I haven’t had many opportunities to experience Memo Paris’s Cuir Nomades series but would love to start with Ocean Leather!

  • patrick_348 says:

I liked the mystery of Sebastian not being quite sure where the aquatic touches come from in this fragrance. (I admire anyone who has the confidence to say, “I don’t know.”) It makes me want to smell it for myself and see how it inspires thoughts, imagery and scent memories of the sea. I don’t know any Memo Paris scents but am eager to try them. I am in the US, in NC.

  • Hi
Have been watching Sebastian’s YouTube channels for few years now, discovered many amazing fragrances thanks to him , I personally own 2 perfumes from the collection Irish leather and French leather I really love both of them .

  • mhchong718 says:

Sebastian is one of my favorite fragrance reviewers! I love his description of the fragrance and how it so clearly paints a picture and setting behind the scent. I don’t have much experience with the Memo Paris Cuir Nomades series but I’d love to get more acquainted with it through Ocean Leather!

  • I love Memo Paris leather collection and my favorites are African, Italian and Russian leather, and definitely will like to try this new realize USA

  • Such a cool looking bottle! Have not sampled any Memo Paris fragrances other than Marfa, but really looking forward to trying the leather line. Sebastian always describes fragrances based on the overall experience rather than individual notes, which I appreciate! I tend to like aquatic and aromatic fragrances so the combination with leather is really exciting! From the USA.

  • ll grhm I live in USA says:

I have not tried any of the Memo perfumes. I love all of Sebastian’s review, he does such a good job at describing perfumes and gives honest reviews. A green herbal leather with mandarin sounds like it could be very nice.

  • Francisco Diaz says:

Sebastian reviews are always well thought out and honest. He provides a ton of information making sure that his viewers are well informed in order to make the right decision

  • lindseyl1985 says:

Sebastian.. Mandarin orange you say… Go on. Basil and sage.. alrighty. More aromatic than aquatic OK this is sounding all right. And the Leather accord pops in the drive down. Hmm, interested to smell this. As always, thanks for the review and also the giveaway!

  • I like the way Sebastian expresses what the fragrance smells like in a way that makes you wanna really know how it smells.. He’s very knowledgeable about the industry. I always look to him to find what my next purchase will be. I’m very familiar with Memo Paris Cuirass Nomades i currently have Italian Leather which i love. I also have Moon Fever as well which is amazing.

  • I love the image of vegetation being exposed at low tide that Sebastian mentions when connecting the scent of Ocean Leather to the actual ocean, I absolutely adore African Leather and Italian Leather from the Cuirs Nomade series.

  • I love that Sebastian points out this is not quite an aquatic scent – more like the smell of vegetation at low tide. Also, no ambergris despite the whale imagery. I’m very intrigued. I’m familiar with Memo Paris having sampled African Leather and Irish Leather. If this is as good as those two, we have a winner. Based in the US.

  • Andrei Artimon says:

Perfect time of the year for a refreshing fragrance , own african leather from the house , so very interested to try something fresh from them , new york , usa .

  • I love some of memos leathers especially african leather i love the floral spice so much on that one. So I try every leather they make.

  • Sebastian sold me with the aromatics; sage. mmmm. And unlike Sebastian, I do enjoy aquatic fragrances! I have a hard time with leathers, but his review of Ganymede as more minerally sold me and now I own a bottle, so I’m betting Ocean Leather would be a good bet as well. I haven’t tried any of Memo’s other leathers.

  • Enjoy sebastian review as always, due to his passion, and detail explanation of ingredients of the scent. I have try African leather from the series due to great number of review but still it felt aging old leathery smell. So far the top leather that I actually like is ombre leather from tom Ford, yet to have fragrance that change my mind. Sending from USA.

  • Kelly Valignota says:

As soon as Sebastian said, “sage runs the show here”, my interest level went through the roof! I smelled sage in a fragrance for the first time very recently and have been craving it ever since. Also, the artwork on this bottle is absolutely incredible.

  • rhperezjr says:

I always enjoy Sebastian’s knowledge and breaking down of the scent notes on his reviews. How Sebastian eloquently described Ocean Leather has my mouth watering lol. As of now I own African Leather and I have Winter palace on my whish list to buy for this year.

  • I loved that Sebastian illustrated the profile of the fragrance such that although it’s not aquatic, I do think I can picture why it’s called “Ocean Leather” now. I’m not super familiar with Memo; my favorite is Irish Leather.

  • Dan Worley says:

I am very familiar with the Memo lineup and own most of the leather fragrances, all of which I love (especially African Leather). Sebastian’s review of Ocean Leather piqued my interest enough that I immediately ordered a sample. After collecting fragrances for so many years it is hard to find something unique – this may fit the bill. Dallas USA

  • Sebastian’s review is as fantastic as always. I really love the Memo scents, one of my favorites is the Shams Oud. Love the leather and green. Would love to try this one!

  • I can’t find any place near me where I can sample Memo Paris fragrances – so I go to my trusted source of Sebastian on YouTube. I like his description and his ease with this discovery; and he convinced me that this is a fragrance I’d most likely love. I have heard of the Memo Paris Cuir Nomades series from another YouTuber but I’m not personally familiar with it….YET….lol *crossing fingers*

Just by the name, I would think it was inspired by Ganymede, which I love.

To be honest, I’m not a fan of leather fragrances – so I haven’t been too keen on trying this line. It’s probably because the first leather fragrance I tried was Rhinoceros from Zoologist, which was too medicinal and dry and it turned me off of the whole genre.

  • Kevlar1999 says:

Great review by Sebastian as he always breaks down the fragrance in a simple way. I haven’t had a chance to sample any from this house but hoping to do do in the future. The name almost is a contradiction as you don’t think of leather and the ocean mixing well.

  • Another amazing review from Sebastian! He said that he found Ocean Leather not overly aquatic. That makes me intrigued! Have not tried anything from Memo Paris!
    Florida, USA

  • It does sound unique. Basil is a great note. I’d like to try this one. Not familiar with the Cuir series. US

  • abbie road says:

I’m familiar with Memo’s Cuir Nomades series and love African Leather. I most enjoy how Sebastian describes the aquatic sea-breezy touch of this fragrance, just beautiful. I could use a happy fragrance! 🙂 I live in the USA.

  • Sebastian always have authentic reviews, this being no different loved the comparison of the tide when you see some of the vegetation.

I’ve been a huge fan of African leather, So I am excited to get to smell this one esp in this heat.

  • Huge fan of aquatic and leather fragrances! Putting the two together sounds amazing! I have only tried one Memo fragrance before. Sebastian is always so knowledgeable. Arkansas

  • I love how Sebastian explained the notes breakdown of Ocean Leather, describing it as more aromatic than aquatic. Would love to try it, have not experienced any of the others from the Memo line. Thanks for the opportunity.

  • memo paris is slowly becoming one of my favorite parfum brands and am excited to smell this one!! im from brooklyn nyc and fell in love with memo after trying kedu

  • sillage4ever says:

I appreciate Sebastian mentioning it’s good for people who don’t like aquatics because calone seems to have unfairly tarnished a genre that has come a long way in recent years. Not yet acquainted with the Cuir Nomades series, hopefully that will be remedied soon.

Thanks for the generous offer, USA.

  • Exciting!!! I love all the ingredients 🙂 No experience with MEMO but as a leather fan, i’ll try them soon. May the fortuna be with me, i can try it because of you 😉
    Thank you ♡

  • This brand is fantastic! I do enjoy Irish Leather. The whale on the bottle is stunning. I like that it reminds Sebastian of a low tide. Thanks for another great draw. Mich USA

Sebastian’s videos are always a pleasure to watch and this was no less. Thanks Sebastian! I’m not familiar with this house (yet), but have ordered a decant of African Leather from an online retailer. Thanks for the giveaway!

    Cheers from Plano, TX!

  • Love hearing Sebastian’s take on fragrances that pique my interest and there being a light leather take with some aromatic and even vegetal green notes with the ocean air just sounds amazing! Only one I’ve smelled is African Leather and it’s a masterpiece! I’m from Pennsylvania

  • Kyle Karnes says:

Sebastian’s review for this was just as thorough and enjoyable as his other reviews, I like how he explained that this is an aquatic he can get behind. I’d be so excited to win this bottle!

  • kkarnes1986 says:

I’d love to win this fragrance to experience Memo Paris for the first time. I’m from Ohio and love Sebastian’s channel and the detail he goes into about fragrances.

  • Michael Buckman says:

The citrus and aromatic notes really interest me in something referencing both ocean and leather. Would have never gathered that without the review, and end up passing by a fragrance I may like.

  • twiggy3634 says:

I enjoyed Sebastian’s praises for this one, especially since he is usually not a fan of aquatic scents. I’ve yet to try Memo’s Cuir Nomades line but I’ve heard great things about African Leather. Cheers from Indiana.

  • Brandon Johnson says:

The review was very informative and I learned thing’s about the fragrance I would have never guessed. With the word ocean in the title one already has a preemptive thought of the type of fragrance this would be. But, fragrance is sometimes not what you would expect in a name or even notes or accords. I love leather and elimi. Haven’t tried any thing from Memo. It is on my radar though. Definitely gotta sample some.

  • Rafael Banda says:

I am not a big fan of aquatic notes, but this composition doesn’t have any listed. I am a big fan of vetiver and leather and this combination of basil and violet should be sublime.
I am looking forward to experience this!

  • wallygator88 says:

Thank you for the great review Sebastian. It’s funny to see an experienced fragrance reviewer say “This is not for me” based on the name/notes.

This is a pretty cool fragrance because of the mandarin and the basil. Basil is a difficult note to tame, especially when used in conjuction with sage.

I’m pretty excited to see how this works out with the leather and the marine/aquatic note.

I’m not familiar with the Memo Paris Cuir Series. The only Memo fragrance that I’ve smelt is Winter Palace.

    Cheers!

  • I watched Sebastian’s review and it sounds like a wonderful fragrance. I have Russian Leather and have enjoyed the other Memo Paris fragrances I’ve sampled. I live in the USA!

  • I enjoyed Sebastian’s explanation of the fragrance and how the name could be misleading. Also liked how he described the aquatic touches and leather not being dominant. The combo of mandarin and sage he mentioned sounds lovely. I have of course heard of all of the Cuirs Nomades fragrances but as leather isn’t a favorite note haven’t tried any which is why I liked that Sevastian mentioned it not being dominant. I’d like to expand my pallet and this sounds like a nice way to get into leather. Also interesting was the the name Memo comes from memory which I’d never heard so thanks. From the U.S. thanks for the generous draw.

  • redwheelbarrow says:

Sebastian’s description of low tide plants has me interested. I grew near a marsh with the garden nearby and always loved the mix of scents from the herbs and marsh. I think I need to order a sample of this one. Thanks for the draw. I’m in the US.

  • I’ve tried only African Leather from the line. I liked it although it’s outside my price range. I liked twist in Sebastians story when he explained that Ocean doesn’t have much or anything with aquatics. Would like to try it

  • atstraight says:

Sebastian was thorough as usual. He got me excited about this one and I love aromatic in the summer; little different from the rest. I have not smelled any of the Cuir Nomades, with Winter Palace being the only Memo I’ve ever put my nose on. Thanks!

Although I enjoy the aquatic genre, I’m happy to hear from Sebastian’s review that this doesn’t lean too far into that direction. I’m also a very big fan of aromatic notes so this is a welcomed note structure. Sounds very promising. The only experience I’ve had with the Cuirs Nomades series is with the wonderfully pleasant African Leather. I dare to say this is the flagship of the series and what has out Memo Paris on the map. I would love to finally own a full bottle and further delve into this house.

  • I trust Sebastian’s nose. Odd that it isn’t really aquatic or leather but more vegetal/herbal. I think a salty ambergris leather would be perfect if done the Memo way. I own a full bottle of Shams Oud. It is enough to knock people down. I love it. I want to try others of the house, especially the leather line. I am in USA.

  • Amanda32828 says:

Like always I love the description of the fragrance from Sebastian’s review. I like the idea of the sea breeze and the green experience in the ocean coastline. I love coastal, coastal is relaxing to me. Currently I do not own any of the Memo Paris fragrances although I love to have one. Thank you for another great review and for the opportunity to participate in the draw. Commenting from Orlando, Fl.

  • Disneydad says:

I’ve heard of this house, but I’m not familiar with this line. I liked how Sebastian described the ocean notes as being similar to the plants growing in the ocean at low tide. I have to say that I can somewhat visualize what this might smell like even though I’ve never experienced it. Sebastian does a great job of getting very specific about describing the way something smells, where other reviewers speak generally like “sweet” or “green”. In IL, USA for the giveaway.

  • Rosemarie Dages says:

I love Sebastian’s enthusiasm when he describes fragrances. What enticed me to submit for the tester is how much he enjoyed this fragrance. I love vetiver and so with that note being a prominent player in this fragrance with the leather, well, that makes me want to try this. I have one other Memo Paris fragrance and I really love it. It isn’t from this collection so I’m not familiar with Cuir Nomades personally. I would like to be though. Thank you. USA.

  • AHHH I have been dying to try a Memo fragrance. When I first saw this release I thought “Ocean leather? no,” but after watching Sabastian’s review and how it is not so much an aquatic fragrance, I am super intrigued. USA

  • ScentitarFragrance says:

I love Sebastian’s review ! I too find it interesting that neither aquatic notes or ambergris are listed notes, which I expected as well. Perhaps the fragrance smells more of actual leather from a whale. It is fascinating that certain notes may be hidden in other accords or maybe the brand decided not to mention those notes at all. It sounds gorgeous and I have tried and love Some of Memo’s other fragrance from the line. Russian Leather is one I love and really appreciate. Usa resident,MS

  • Ooh, this sounds like a really, really good leather fragrance!!! I loved Sebastian’s review of it. The cedar and vetiver in the drydown make it sound like such a gorgeous scent! I am not at all familiar with the Memo Paris Cuir Nomades series but Sebastian’s review makes me definitely want to test them out.

Sebastian did a nice very well detailed review. I liked the way he described the fragrance.

  • Good job as always, Sebastian.
Green plants on the beach. I like aquatic genre, and this sound very interesting with green notes. I like Memo very much especially Italian and Irish Leather.

  • SculptureOfScent says:

I loved Sebastian’s review, especially his comments about it being a happy fragrance. I got a chance to sample this wonderful scent and that was one of my first thoughts…to me it smells of freedom; looking to the horizon with optimistic joy. I agree it’s not aquatic in the usual sense but although I do feel it has this gorgeous floral marine note (it feels like the same note at the heart of AdG Essenza) but the drapings here are more to my liking. A huge dose of Clary sage that actually calls to mind a faint resemblance to Versace’s The Dreamer. A glorious cedar note, the airy incense accord from the elemi, and a gorgeous sueded leather.

What can I say, I love this scent. Memo is my favorite house, Alienor Massener my favorite perfumer, African Leather my favorite fragrance and Ocean Leather is shaping up to be my favorite aquatic (or if not true aquatic, the scent I want to reach for in the weather and situations where aquatics shine).

Thank you for the review and opportunity!

  • Thank you Sebastian for this beautiful review! I like your style of detailed description! I like Memo Paris very much and know almost all Cuir Nomades seria, especially Italian and African Leather. This sounds very intrigued- aquatic + green notes and leather! Need to test or own!

  • Great review!!! I enjoyed it. And it’s very interesting- Ocean Leather, but not real aquatic perfumes, but has aquatic touch with herbal, green, floral notes. Sounds very beautiful. Hope it’s real good choice for hot summer.
Do you notice that there are aquatic trend in niche perfumery now???
I like African Leather very much.

I love all of Sebastián’s reviews but this one really stood out to me cause I could feel his excitement & love for this fragrance… What has my attention is Sebastián doesn’t usually lean towards aquatics and says even though it’s in the name… don’t let that fool you. There’s more to this one than just reading a book by its cover it seems. CAN’T WAIT TO TRY IT!

  • I really enjoyed Sebastian’s review of this fragrance. The aromatic notes of basil, sage and mandarin are a great blend, light marine aquatic touches will make this a great blend, I need more aquatics for my collection. My favorite from cuir nomades is Russian Leather. It’s so good my wife even likes it on me, and she is very picky.

  • Michael Prince says:

Sebastian, with another great review. This one of Memo Paris Ocean Leather. This fragrance has an amazing mandarin note along with aromatic touches and a nice base of a wearable and subtle leather. Much to my surprise this has a light sea breeze accent in the background, which pleases Sebastian since he doesn’t like aquatic based fragrances.
I am familiar with the Memo Paris Cuir Nomades series which features all leather based fragrances…the most popular being African Leather. I am from the USA.

  • I trust Sebastian’s reviews on account of the fact that I think we share many favorite notes. Except for the fact that I think that aquatic notes are pretty good for leisurely lake/river/sea side strolls… but in general I also don’t gravitate towards them, so that fact that he actually doesn’t mind them says a lot to me. As a side note Chris from the Fragmental YouTube channel posted a video where he went to visit his parents recently and his mother also had this fragrance, and she liked it a lot. I am personally not yet familiar with the fragrances from this house but I would very much like to be acquainted with them. Thank you for the giveaway. I am from Tennessee USA.

What I most enjoyed about Sebastian’s review was that he was impressed by an aquatic fragrance. I know that he is not fond of aquatic fragrances (truth be told neither am I) but the fact that he can appreciate this scent really intrigues me. I am not familiar with Cuir Nomades but Memo Paris is a lovely brand and I’m sure this is up to standard. Kind regards from Illinois, USA.

Always enjoy Sebastian’s reviews for their clarity and viewpoint. So very interesting although I shouldn’t just go by the notes apparently. I’ve read some reviews of the Memo Paris Cuir Nomades series. Thanks to Sebastian for his review and thanks to Europerfumes/ Eden Square for this lovely draw. I’m in the USA

  • Like Sebastian, I’m not a fan of aquatics and I figured this wouldn’t be my style. I enjoyed his review and he made me eager to give this one a sniff. I love leather fragrances & I didn’t expect a “happy” fragrance from Ocean Leather but I think it sounds great. Thanks for the review & the draw. I’m in the US.

  • Daniel Tomiuk says:

Enjoyed Sebastien’s review of your new fragrance. I enjoy leather fragrances and mandarin and sage notes together sound very appealing. Will definitely try this when I get a chance. Please add me for a chance to win the draw. Cheers.

Because of this marvelous review my expectations are pretty high . Not overly complicated fragrance, but well executed aromatic, spicy one with leather and reminiscent of the ocean.
I’m really drown to similar combinations.
Other than a sample of Tamarindo i’m not familiar with Memo Paris , but after such a vivid review i will order more samples. I also need to try the one Sebastian reviewed called Winter Palace.

I had the pleasure of smelling a few Memo Paris fragrances when I was at Osswald boutique , looking for something else. Ocean Leather I have not smelled there, but at the end end up buying the fragrance I originally intended to, and also Memo Tiger’s Nest . I had to , because boy oh boy it’s impressive one. Later I have sampled African Leather, and I do admit it is beautiful, but unfortunately I get average performance from it. Tiger’s Nest works wonders through. Over 10 hours of longevity and 3-4 hours of strong projection.
Ocean Leather I’m interested in, because it sounds like a dreamy vacation i really need at the moment.
Appreciate the review, and the giveaway campaign

Ocean Leather I’m sure it would be a good fragrance, especially when it’s made by Alienor Massenet. She’s pretty famous nose with some masterpiece level creations. Own 7 fragrances she composed, 2 Memo Paris included. Natural smelling vetiver , ginger , sage , basil, with good performance … what not to like about it ? Checks the boxes quite perfectly .
From Memo Paris i do own Granada , and i’m at the very end of of my African Leather bottle. Both Alienor Massenet creations.

“There is a green vegetal vibe from the sage, basil and vetiver that will surprise you.”
Sounds really good , and different.

“If you are like Sebastian and want a new take on the classification, the best way to try a perfume is not necessarily by reading the notes,or marketing copy”

    EXACTLY
Completely agree , you can’t judge fragrances by the notes only.
African Leather is the best Memo Paris from the Leather line, but i now think the best one overall is …. I can’t remember the name, it’s one with sesame, lemon and tea. I had to check out the name , it’s called Kedu . Smells like eating sesame bar, and drinking tea.
Thanks to Eden Square for the giveaway.USA based

  • The description of the fragrance as being closer tied to the whole green aspect of the shore than an actual aquatic note, although he can get hints of aquatic. The vetiver aspect is interesting as well. Sounds like a very interesting fragrance to sample.
