What does bravery smell like? I suggested Map of The Heart Purple Heart V.5 as the first ÇaFleureBon review by Steven Gavrielatos of Redolessence to coincide with Memorial Day 2021, to honor the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces who gave their lives to protect our country. If you love insightful video fragrance reviews, I am sure that our new ÇaFleureBon Video Contributor needs no introduction. While Steven is new to the brand, I first met Map of the Heart Founders and Creative Directors Sarah Blair and Jeffrey Darling at Esxence in 2015. In 2014, the Australian film producers, writers and designers focused their talents and artistic vision on perfume. In collaboration with a dream team: Givaudan master perfumer Jacques Huclier (the nose behind many of MUGLER fragrances including A*Men in 1996, and the top notch flankers including A*Men Pure Havane) and the renowned Perfumed Plume award winning flacon designer Pierre Dinand (YSL Opium among many others) they created a series that navigates a fragrant topography of human emotions, textures and feelings. Map of The Heart Purple Heart V.5 (2016) is the fifth in the series; we have reviewed the brand extensively including The Art ad Olfaction Finalist Pink Heart V.6 and the U.K. Fragrance Foundation award winning White Heart V.7.

Please welcome Steven as our bi monthly video journalist contributor who will tell you all about Map of The Heart Purple Heart V.5 AND why it is his best discovery of 2021.

Very informative blog and it sounds like the scent is AMAZING!! I’d love to add it to my collection

  • I really enjoy Steve due to the fact that he uncovers new perfumes that aren’t really known. My favorite part of the review isn’t only the fact that the bottle is in the shape of a purple heart but the sweet opening being different from others. Memorial day means alot because due to sacrifice made by soldiers past, present and future they are they reasons why have our freedom. I live in Atlanta, Georgia

  • Joshua Santos says:

I’d love to be entered into the giveaway! Thank you for the generosity of Sarah and Jeffrey!
Memorial day is important to me because my grandpa served for 27 years in the U.S. Army. My favorite part about Stephens review on YouTube was him mentioning a quote by you, saying that you’re a perfumer, not a magician, talking about the fragrance pyramid flip in your fragrance!
    I live in Oregon!

  • Gabrielle Nickson says:

I’m a somewhat newer subscriber to Stephen’s channel, but I have been listening for some time, and I love the way he describes a scent. I can almost smell the fragrance in my head and I always leave his channel confident in a blind buy. His mention of “unique, quirkiness, spiciness, gourmand, and almondy tonka” makes it a for sure win, but his mention of a unique “mysterious purple inky note” is what really intrigued me most! I don’t believe I’ve ever experienced that before!

I’m from Michigan, big on practicing gratitude, and Memorial Day to me, is another opportunity to do just that, while paying tribute to those that gave the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. ❤
Thank you for the opportunity to enter! Happy Memorial Day!

  • Robert Kerr says:

The plum, cherry and licorice sound intriguing to me. Steven said it actually smells purple . And with the ink according i can only imagine what it might smell like. Being an American expat I remember decades ago going to the memorial day parade each year in my town, the drums and of course honoring our soldiers. I have true respect for their sacrifices. Bravery is not talked about much these days .

  • I’m living in the USA and Memorial Day is a day we celebrate and honor our fallen and living veterans. Steve made an depth and detailed description of this fragrance with its unique bottle shape just like the heart. Would want to be entered into the giveaway.

  • High praise! Long time follower of Steven’s channel so I’m very glad he joined the team. Always loved the organized structure of his reviews. This one really does sound interesting. Digging the colour of the bottle and like Steven said, it seems to follow the spicy plum and violet theme well. And if anyone knows how to riff off the gourmand theme, it’s Huclier. Sotd is actually A*men so it’s a nice synchronicity! Never really been a fan of strong, dark licorice accords, so it’s nice to hear that this one blends it well with the fruits and florals. Overall, I think Purple Heart sounds like it could be the most mass appealing from the brand! Not an American myself, but I do (or at least DID) make frequent trips. In Canada, our equivalent to Memorial Day is Remembrance Day in November. A heartfelt salute not only to those who sacrificed themselves for their peers, but to their families and all current service men and women in both countries. Here’s to keeping each other safe, healthy and smelling great. 😉 From Canada.

  • Cody Rose says:

Amazing bottle and the description sounds intriguing. I thought it was great that he covered this fragrance for memorial day weekend. Happy memorial day to all!

  • LibertyNotLicense says:

Steven has an incredible nose and always does an exceptional job of clearly conveying an accurate description of what the fragrance actually is–both its independent facets and its whole composition. Additionally, these are incredible perfumers! As Amen was my signature scent for a decade (and still having and wearing nearly all flankers today) I would really like to smell this! As a veteran in a multi-generational line of veterans, I also greatly appreciate the salute to those who have laud down their own lives for us. All of the freedoms and joys of life we live today are because of the prices paid by others yesterday.

  • Zoran Loncarevic says:

The scent sounds amazing and the bottle is super unique. Thanks to Steven for the great review. I’m from Germany

  • Welcome Steven. I enjoyed your clear and enthusiastic review of Map of The Heart Purple Heart V.5. Creating synesthesia via perfumes, in this case, a genuine sense of purple via how Map of The Heart Purple Heart V.5 smells like. Of course, the heart shaped purple bottle helps too. It’s so appropriate for the Memorial Day weekend. I am intrigued by this perfume as you ranked as one of the best in 2021. I have not tried anything by this brand, yet, but given the reputation of the perfumer behind the perfume, it’s definitely worth considering. I like video reviews as they are less verbose and seem more user-friendly, as if describing a perfume to a wide variety of listeners, some of whom may know a lot, and some very little. Michelyn’s introduction and your video give a good idea of how Map of The Heart Purple Heart V.5 is like. Appreciate your review and a generous draw. I’m in the USA.

  • I really enjoyed this review because i love gourmand frsgances, and this fragance sounds great. I live in Doral, Florida.

  • I love the name of this I hearing Steven speaking about what the Purple Hart stands for I’m a Army Veteran 29 years retired 2011. Now hearing him speak of the bloom note and a vinnlla note plus sandalwood sale me

  • Kris Garlitch says:

I enjoyed learning that this scent was intended to start out dark and bold and work into a more brighter scent. This scent profile sounds very interesting and it would be great to try. Memorial Day is much different than other holidays as there is a sense of somberness and seriousness in which we remember those who have fallen. It’s unlike any other Holliday. I live in Indiana. Peace.

  • Memorial Day doesn’t speak to me in the EU but I am sold on this after hearing Steven’s opinion. Anything unusual is welcome in the frag world.

  • Timothy Adrian Boodhan says:

The way Steven did the review on Purple Heart V.5 got me really excited to have a chance to add this perfume to my very small, newly started collection. Love the presentation of the whole package and the notes breakdown alot and most important what the perfume signify for all solders around the WORLD! When I win this giveaway and someone smells this unique sent and ask what’s that? I’ll be so happy to explain to them all about Purple Heart V.5 and what it signifies! Thank You.

  • A beautiful tribute to all the fighters, whether on the front or from home!
And, welcome Steven! Glad to see you as part of the team.

  • Jamel Jones says:

Omg the Sounds like it’s going to turn the world upside down when you have this on. I need this in my life.

  • The bottle surely is unique! I have read about this house, but never really got the chance to test something from them. Thanks!

  • Inky purple nuance with licorice sounds very unique to my nose. Sounds like Stevens review explained an interesting progression but sweet from top to bottom with the fruity note combination. Sounds lovely.

  • I watch Steven quite frequently so I love how he describes fragrances. I usually can tell from his description if I will like a fragrance or not. I am intrigued by the notes of plum and licorice along with the ink accord present here. As for Memorial Day, as I am an American, it is a very special day to honor those who have given their lives so we can be free. Free to disagree, free to vote, free to live in this amazing country. I have been blessed to be the daughter, niece, and granddaughter of men who have served this country. And I am even more blessed that all of those men came home to their families. Not everyone has been so lucky. To those men and women, and to their families, our thanks is never enough. In Maryland.

  • Steven is exceptional reviewer especially when it comes to note break downs. The way he described this fragrance with its sweet but tart opening and warming base notes makes it sound wonderful and anybody would be lucky to have this in their collection

  • Steven just made the whole production come alive!! Every note I could just smell it! Kinda made my mouth water a bit.. come on it has a plum note!

  • Marius Johnson says:

Something different is always welcome in fragrance world were scent is concern…presentation is unique also

  • Catherine Davis says:

You are a purple heart reviewer Steven. I love your passion for this fragrance! Thank you for bringing it to us

  • I love the way Steven opens up the videos with the full presentation on the fragrance bottle and packaging. Also enjoy how he breaks down every single note from top to bottom in the fragrances to the point I can literally smell it like it is in front of me! Memorial Day means a lot to me and my family, gives us a chance to take a step back and show appreciation to every single man and women who have sacrificed deeply to support and fight for our great country! I currently live in Houston Texas.

  • Purple Heart V.5 has inky sweetness and dark composition which also seems apparent from the color of the bottle. I am in US

  • I’ve never heard of this fragrance before having watched this review. Also, I’ve never tried any of the fragrances which were made by, perfumer, Jacques Huclier. I’m very interested in trying this fragrance. I appreciate learning more about this perfumer and I appreciate discovering this fragrance which I think that I would like since I can can like a lot of the notes which are said to be in it. I like to hear that it has good performance. I live in MD., U.S.A. I know that the U.S.A., during its history, has been in need of improvements concerning humanitarianism, but the U.S. military has been a part of humanitarian agendas being carried out, e.g. helping defeat the Nazis, helping certain African countries fight Boko Haram, and more. I know that soldiers have died on account of this humanitarian cause and acknowledging these kinds of things is what Memorial Day, to me, is for.

  • Joe Robertson says:

Memorial Day is a bittersweet celebration of the freedom we enjoy and the lives spent in maintaining it. It will always remain that to me. Although I did not serve in the armed forces, I come from a long line of men who have. I honor them as best I can.

  • lukeschmidt says:

I like how detailed Steven’s review was, including the performance characteristics of the fragrance, as well as its versatility. Memorial Day reminds me to always be thankful for the sacrifices that others have made for me and my family to live in a free country. I’m from Ohio!

  • amyjason13 says:

I would be honored to be in this Draw!!! I love Steven’s reviews, he is always very thorough and informative!!! I would especially love to win this in memory of my grandfather who earned a Purple Heart in his time in the Army!!! I have his burial flag and Purple Heart in a case together!!! Memorial Day is important to recognize the sacrifices of those who fought for our freedom!!! Thanks for considering me for the draw!!! God bless the USA!!!

  • I enjoyed Steven’s review because it has the perfect note breakdown and I’m a plum lover and would love to have this bottle to my collection. Memorial day means that I will put my flag up to remember that my freedom was at the sacrifice of many American soldiers and I will forever be greatful.we are a military family. My sister and her husband are in the military. God bless America. Pamela roach 8203:andes court, pikesville. Md.#21208

  • Carisa Tyler says:

I like how Steven did a thorough job explaining each note in this perfume- especially why it smelled “purple” to him. I definitely want to try – or hopefully win- this perfume! Memorial Day means taking a few moments to remember those that gave the ultimate sacrifice. I enjoy learning about different biographies pertaining to the armed forces & history. I live in northeast Pennsylvania, near Scranton.

  • Raesean Bebri says:

I loved everything about this scent, from the notes, to the in-depth view, the scent, the design, and everything about it. Memorial Day is such an important day for me, as my father, grandfather, and great grandfather were in the army. As an American, I feel it is my duty to honor them in what they have done for my country, the beautiful United States of America. This fragrance would mean the world to me if I win, because it is my grandfathers favorite smells/notes in a fragrance, and he doesn’t have much time left. I live in Winthrop, Massachusetts and thank you for reading this, it brought tears to my eyes writing about Memorial Day, truly, thank you.

  • Hello I am Matt from the UK.

Steven as per usual did a fantastically informative review on this fragrance! I especially enjoyed hearing the backstory behind its inception and the unique note of ink; which I can say doesn’t feature in any of my current fragrances in my collection!

Thank you again for a fab review and an opportunity to be able to actually smell this one myself.

    Best,
    Matt

  • It’s great review and I’m so excited to try this fragrance i love it’s note

  • Bryant Worley says:

I thought Steven’s review was an excellent breakdown of the fragrance, giving us enough information to truly whet our appetites. I’m used to him slaying it on YouTube, and he’s gonna do it here.

Memorial Day is a day for remembering that life is fragile, and that we shouldn’t take life too casually. One day it’s here, and the next……

I live in Waldorf, MD, USA

  • Kelly O'Neal says:

I enjoyed the technical and artistic review of Map Of The Purple Heart done by Steven on YouTube.

  • Deepankar Das says:

Steven always comes up with the best videos. I really enjoyed this review. Such a mysterious fragrance and his description was soo captivating. I just couldn’t resist myself from entering this giveaway. I’ve always wished to own one. Was saving up money for that. Hopefully I win this giveaway!!

  • Dubaiscents says:

A Purple Heart perfume for Memorial Day is such a perfect metaphor. I always think of my grandfather, a WWII veteran, on this day and am thankful to all the men and women who have served. Steven does an excellent job describing this scent and I love the idea of an ink note. The purple bottle is also exquisite. Thank you for the draw. US

  • judes Jean Noel says:

i would like to emter in the give away, the cherry ,mixed with the.plum is a divine combinarion!!

  • Courtenay Courier says:

I loved when Steven was talking about how the pyramid was intended to be reversed, and I appreciated how he demonstrated the spray and talked about how the combinations were so unique to this fragrance. Canada.

  • I’m a follower on Steven’s YouTube channel & I always enjoy listening to his review. He’s very passionate when talking about this new fragrance, & thanks to him, this is a new discovery to me too & a must have in my collection. The notes that he described on this fragrance sound very unique & amazing to me. Thank you again for the very informative review Steven!

  • Hi! I’m Sherry from the USA. As I live in a small town in Louisiana I’m a far way from any boutique for niche fragrances. I subscribed to Steven’s channel as I began my fragrance journey. I love gourmands and I love his enthusiasm for gourmands as well! The idea for this fragrance is very unique. What a great way to celebrate Memorial Day, which for me means to take time to observe and appreciate the soldiers who put everything on the line for the people of the USA. Good luck to everyone entering!

  • Such a beautiful scent! The notes creates a perfect harmony. Can’t say enough about the packaging, it’s simply gorgeous.

  • Bubeto_GG says:

    Welcome Steven 🙂
Nice job both Jacques Huclier , and Pierre Dinand – nice job. In 2021 dynamic fragrance world presentation is important , and no doubt Map of Heart bottles are unique.
V5 is fragrance i need to try, plum , cherry, licorice, patchouli and ink combination is so appealing to me. Also the performance is good , important aspect , if i have to pay niche prices.
I have smelled the golden one V4 , it’s also unique , smells milky spicy , a bit like Chai Masala.
On Memorial Day we mourn fallen soldiers, who gave their lives protecting the nation.
    Thanks for the generosity .
Back and forth between USA and Scotland, two weeks in US -> two weeks in Scotland and so on, basically both USA and Scotland at the same time

  • This scent sounds incredible and the presentation is super unique. I always enjoy steven’s reviews. Very in depth and straight forward opinions. Many of his videos have helped me in buying or steering clear of a fragrance.

  • Benji Wells says:

Love all of his videos, they’ve really help inform my fragrance purchasing choices. I’m always looking for unique fragrances and bottles to add to my own collection, I would LOVE to add this to my line up.

  • This was my introduction to this brand and what a positive one! The way the Steven described the rose, plum, and licorice, and how they mingle together is so intriguing! I am looking forward to learning more. Great review!

  • clever_06 says:

Love the concept of, “it’s always darkest before the dawn.” As well as commemorating our heroes in our military.

  • Michael Bullock says:

Great review by Steven and I enjoyed it and I wanna be entered into the giveaway and have a blessed night.

  • hacvet1971 says:

I enjoyed Steven’s review of purple heart v.5. Sounds incredibly unique and interesting. Especially the purple ink accord. I also LOVE gourmand fragrances. My name is Andrew and I live in Tampa, Florida. Memorial day is so incredibly important for us to give thanks for all of those who gave their lives in order for us to be free and have the life we have today. I also reflect on my father who fought in Vietnam but unfortunately passed away back in 04. I truly miss him everyday

  • Welcome to the Cafleurbon team, Steven!
    Great to see him here.
I enjoyed hearing that this perfume is sweet through and through, but it has uniqueness due to the ink note which is indeed unusual and that I personally find addictive. The gourmand notes that warm it up and make it wearable sound great too.
I live in Europe, so Memorial Day doesn’t really have a meaning for me. But my thoughts go to US militaries and their families.

  • Thank you very much for the giveaway. I would love to win the bottle, as I am so intrigued by the ink blue note .. not able to get what would it actually be like.
Other notes explained my Steven on his channel .. gave an idea that it would be nutty sweet slightly gourmand!!
Would absolutely love to win this, as I am a new fragrance reviewer and this would be superb to add to my collection

  • As most people know, there are so many perfumes out there, and Steven’s thoroughness helps me make a more informed decision. When he mentioned all the fruits coming together in a way he thought was a really unique gourmand, I really wanted to smell it for myself. And as a veteran myself from a military family, Memorial day is an important reminder of what can be accomplished when people give themselves to ideals bigger than they are. And I’m from Virginia

  • So happy Redolessence joined the team! I have been following Steven’s channel for a while ( I discovered him following the late Carlos AKA Brooklyn Fragrance Lover). First time I hear about the brand, but Steven´s review sparkled my interest. As he, I love gourmand fragrances with plum, cherry, liquorice, tonka bean. I think the original idea of the Map of the Heart Founders and Creative Directors is great: flipping the pyramid and Jacques Huclier replying he is a perfumer not a magician!! he gives us a unique juice with quirkiness, spiciness with this purple accord! I live in Spain, EU and we don´t have a Memorial day, so I can´t give you my thoughts.

  • What a great looking bottle, really love the design! Would really love to smell the idea that went in to this perfume! What a nice find and a great review Steve! Living in the EU

  • Debbie Lim says:

The ink note is intriguing and I love that there’s a licorice note – I wish this occurred in more perfumes. Steven seems genuinely enthused by this perfume and I’m also keen to try the white and gold hearts. I’m in Sydney, Australia.

  • An excellent review by Steven intrigued by notes especially Cherry, Plum, licorice and ink note described by Stephen unique, spicy and quirky Gourmand. I am not familiar with the house but the bottle design is out of this world. I am not American but I believe those that have fought our freedom need to be remembered and honoured. Thanks a million from the United Kingdom

  • I love how he describes fragrance.its very informative. I’m a fragrance lover.I’ve used Mitti Attar, it’s awesome. It has many health benefits like Acts as an aphrodisiac,
    Soothes the tensed muscles,
    Relaxes the agitated nervous system,
    Acts as a sedative etc
    you can also try it

  • What does bravery smell like? I suggested Map of The Heart Purple Heart V.5 as the first ÇaFleureBon review by Steven Gavrielatos of Redolessence to coincide with Memorial Day 2021, to honor the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces who gave their lives to protect our country. I love Gourmand fragrance so the notes appeal to me most described by Steven are Cherry, Licorice and ink note sound sumptuous. I am not American but the soldiers that fought for our freedom in whatever country should be honoured and remembered accordingly I agree freedom is often taken for granted. A stunning bottle really seals the deal for me. Thanks a lot from the UK

  • I’m drawn to the story and inspiration behind the fragrance. Steven always does great reviews that I look forward to. I’m a vet, so in fairness, I try not to think of anything on a memorial day. Maryland here. Thanks for the review and the spotlight on this lesser known niche.

  • andypanayiotou27 says:

Combining this fragrance with Memorial Day was quite inspiring. I especially enjoyed Steven’s description of the ink accord and the purple feeling of the fragrance as a whole.
    Greetings from Cyprus.

  • Andrei Artimon says:

Very interesting house , never got to try anythinng from them . This sounds very intriguing , would love to be on the winning end of this one . New york , usa .

  • patrick_348 says:

I enjoyed Steven’s enthusiasm (which is contagious) and his analysis of how the fragrance is put together and experienced. It sounds like the fragrance does a good job of being reverent toward our fallen soldiers without being morose or negative. I am an American and Memorial Day always seems like such a contradiction, with light-hearted activities, like going to the beach or cookouts or the first of the summer Hollywood blockbuster movies, accompanying a day of mourning for and honoring fallen soldiers. But then maybe doing things that give us joy honors them more than solemnity would. I live in the US, in North Carolina.

  • I have watched Steven’s YouTube reviews for years and would like to welcome him to Cafleurebon! I love his enthusiasm and thoroughness shown in his reviews. Memorial Day offers me a formal day in the year to honor my Father, Grandfathers and brother who all served in the military during wartime’s; none passed during their service, thankfully but many have. Here’s to peace for all. I am in the US.

  • Pedro Ferreira says:

As always, Steven’s reviews are on point, I just love the way he describes the scents and names the ingredients and gets really in depth with the smell of the fragrance.

  • Other then the fascinating bottle design and the notes this offers, I think, and I might be mistaken, the only easy opportunity to sample this brand. I think Steven mentioned this company in the past and at that time the only option was to order directly from Australia so this would be an excellent opportunity to scratch that itch so to speak when you resign yourself to having to miss out on a great fragrance due to being in Canada.

  • Hi, Steven’s Review Of Map Of The Heart Purple Heart V.5, Conveyed The Uniqueness Of This Perfume. His Thorough Breakdown Of The Notes In This Perfume, And Explanation Of It’s Construction,Made Me Want To Go And Purchase It, To Experience This Interesting And Beautiful Fragrance. Thanks To The Generosity Of Sarah Blair And Jeffrey Darling,I Get A Chance Of Winning A Bottle. A Big Thank You To Jacques Huclier And Pierre Dinand For Creating Such A Unique Perfume. Even Though I Don’t Live In The US, Important Days Like Memorial Day,And Other Days Around The World,Where We Remember All Of Those Who Have Sacrificed Their Lives,And All Those Who Continue To Make These Sacrifices,So That We Can All Live This Wonderful Life,In Peace And Harmony,I Salute You. I Live In Wales,UK.

  • Fascinating scent! Love the concept of the Purple Heart and how much the perfumer focused on the synesthesia for the colour Purple as Steven mentioned. All the “purple” ingredients is fascinating as well! Would love a chance to try it out. Not an American (Canadian), but happy Memorial Day for all the US readers.

  • Love these bottles! I’ve been following Steven for some time, so it’s great to see him here! I the positivity of this review – Steven does a great job at imparting the feel of it. I’m Canadian, but our memorial day means a lot to me as my grandfather served during WWII. Thank you from Canada.

  • Jordan Lai says:

Steven really explains the fragrances in a way that it’s easy to understand when we can’t physically smell it. Also like how he gives the back story of a fragrance for something with s deeper meaning such as Purple Heart.

  • Jordan Lai says:

Memorial Day to me is be thankful of all the small freedoms and liberties we take for granted. Someone, somewhere had to make a sacrifice so that we can have the liberties that we do. Memorial Day is a time to reflect on that and be thankful to the men and women as well as their families for the sacrifices they make for our country.

  • I love the way Steven breaks down the fragrance. He’s a very entertaining reviewer with plenty of knowledge. Memorial Day is a day of reflection. People sacrificed their lives so that we can be free to fellowship with friends and family. I live in Henrico, VA.

  • I love the way he gives a backstory on the fragrance not just the scent itself but also who designed the bottle. As a designer myself, I love knowing who designs these unique bottles. Memorial Day to me is a day of reflection on the l’interdîtes that I take for granted. Nothing is free in life and it’s a day to thank the men and women who have sacrificed their lives as well and remembering their families and those who continue to serve for us now.

  • Welcome, Steven, and what a great first video review! I am sure I speak for us all that we look forward to your content in the future. I love gourmand fragrances and especially if they are a bit quirky as am I occasionally. I am in the US
May we all take a quiet moment today and express thanks and gratitude to all of those that gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country and the freedoms of us all.

  • Ricardo Varela says:

Steven with Redolessence always gives a very detailed and honest review of fragrances in my opinion. The way in which he provides a description of the scent in order for a viewer to be able to get an impression and understanding of the fragrance is excellent. I’m intrigued by the description of this fragrance and would love to be able to smell it. Memorial Day to me is special as I’ve had several family members in the military and some who’ve also given the ultimate sacrifice.

  • I would love to be a part of this giveaway? Stephen’s recommendations always exceed above expectations. The review for this fragrance was amazing and perfectly conveys what the fragrance represents. The bravery of our soldiers who risk their lives to protect our freedom and rights.

  • The story about the topsy-turvy concept is interesting– wanting to open with what are typically base notes and then progress to brighter ones. I enjoyed hearing Steven’s take on what to expect and what Purple Heart reminds him of. Memorial Day to me is about feeling connected to the past and to other Americans. It feels especially poignant to me this year. Love to all who’ve lost someone. (USA)

  • Stephen always provides great information in his reviews. Plum is a favorite note of mine. I live in Indiana USA

  • Trinity33 says:

Those bottles are gorgeous! A purple Map of the Heart is so appropriate for Memorial Day. A good time to remember what real sacrifice and patriotism looks like. I’m interested in how the licorice, dark purple fruits and violet come together in the scent. Great review Steve! Commenting from MD, USA.

  • This is my first time coming across Steve’s chanel. I enjoyed hearing about this fragrance as I was completely unfamiliar with the brand and it seems super interesting! Steve’s video was really great and informative, and loved the discussion of the perfumer and the bottle (and that dark opening- wow!). The bottle for Map of the Heart V5 is just amazing!! Thank you from Canada! really enjoyed and learned something from this one

  • Anthony Jolly says:

I love the fact steven has introduced me to a fragrance i have never heard of. Memorial Day is close to me because of the family lost in vietnam.

  • First thing first that bottle is nut love the design second I’m addicted to plum base fragrance and this carries it on the top notes sweet besides I have a small collection this one could be for fall

  • Terrianne says:

Purple, Inky, Warm, Earthy. Playful. Unusual.
Starts dark and gets lighter. Mm. Nice olfactory journey!! ♥️
    Steven offers great insights.

I first think of everyone who fought for the freedom of others while they, themselves were not free.
I think of the lives lost.
    Anyone suffering traumas from combat.
Grateful to the many in my family and everyone who served.

    Hello from Boston.

The cherry and plum do intrigue me I do not think I have smelt a combo like that before, the longevity seems really good too, I do like colognes that not too many people would have, sounds like a good fall/winter fragrance. Great description!!

  • sagewysocki says:

I enjoyed the professional but easy to follow nature of the video, would love to try this out for myself!

  • Heather Hester says:

I always enjoy how thoroughly Steven covers every aspect of a fragrance, from the presentation, to the wear time. I liked the background story he told about how this fragrance would be flipped around and it would start darker and get lighter, and I got a little chuckle when he said the creator told them he was a perfumer, not a magician! It sounds very unique, and I would love to try it!

Memorial Day has a special meaning to me because we lost a family member during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2007.
    I live in Texas.

Steven is definitely one of my go to content providers for fragrance related information. Great stuff so far and looking forward to many videos to come! Map of The Heart Purple Heart V. 5 is quite interesting from the design of the bottle all the way through to the fragrance. A literal purple heart has to be one of the most groundbreaking vessels that I have encountered in a long time. As for the fragrance itself, sounds delicious. Plum, cherry, sandlewood, and the ink note definitely has left this guy intrigued. I hope to be able to enjoy this and would be joyful to win to say the least to win a bottle.

As for what Memorial Day means to myself… it’s not bbqs and boating it’s thinking about my ancestors and how if not for them how I wouldn’t be here. My ancestry goes back to Willhiam Gabbard that came from Alsace-Lorraine to Virginia in the late 1600s. I think of the family members that fought in every conflict from the revolutionary War on for this country, my friends that went to battle some came back the same some not so much. The virtues and pain at the same time that correlate with being in one of the 6 branches. I took the time to thank everyone today that has served and hope everyone does the same. Memorial day is a somber day of remembrance not celebration. To think of the mothers and fathers that have lost son’s and daughter’s. The homeless veteran’s of our country, the friends that have sacrificed parts of their bodies and minds as well. Much love my brothers and sisters virtual hugs all around. Hoping to spread remembrance from Saint Augustine Florida.

  • I always enjoy Steven’s enthusiasm but in terms of the fragrance itself, I like that he points out the notes I tend to gravitate to. Those spicy gourmand and tonka bean scents really are attractive to me.

Memorial day for me is remembering my father and those like him who’ve served and lost their life either while serving or from the effects of serving.

  • Martin Ford says:

I like that Steven did talk more about the nose behind the scent and about the bottle designer. Really refreshing to see in a review!

  • Joshua Neese says:

The fragrance looks and sounds amazing. Steven is always very descriptive and thorough in his reviews, which I really appreciate. Memorial Day here in Indianapolis is often consumed the the Indy 500, but I like to think about my grandfather and his battles he overcame in WW2. The bravery and sacrifice is truly a beautiful thing.

  • The way that Steven describes this fragrance is very interesting to me. Aesthetically it looks like a very strong gourmand meant to wear during colder months, but it sounds as if you can get away with wearing this year round. The plum and violet specifically are the notes which I feel are underutilized that pique my interest the most!

  • Hai my name is Eki, from faraway tropical country Indonesia. I always enjoying Steven’s perfume reviews. Especially for this time he reviewed about a perfume from Ça Fleure Bon, called Map of the Heart Purple Heart v.5. What intrigued me to keepin watch is about the purple ink note in it, it’s totally unique. And as fan of sweet gourmand perfume I think I have to get this unique perfume for my low-end perfume collections (I’m a newbie, n have a limit purchase) as a GEM among these other perfumes. So kindly need your generousity to let me have this Map of the Heart Purple Heart v.5 as my pride for years ahead. Warm regards from here, Indonesia.

I love the fact how you guys flipped the fragrance pyramid on its head and tried something daring and new! Huge fan of this fragrance and don’t even own it! Steven is a fragrance guru!! Loved his review! Would absolutely love to try this masterpiece! Blessings from MIAMI FL!

  • Amanda32828 says:

I have been following Steve for quite some time now. I think he is a great addition to the Cafleurebon team, for sure one of the best reviewers out there. Thank for for an awesome review of this somewhat unknown gem. I can’t wait to try it.
To me Memorial Day mean freedom and sacrifice and with that I’ll like to emphasized how grateful I’m to all the courageous men and women who died defending this beautiful country.
Thank you for another awesome giveaway. Commenting from Orlando, Fl USA.

  • Claumarchini says:

Happy Memorial Day to all US friends! I didn’t know that Purple Heart is actually a medal given to soldiers and I love the fact that this scent is called like this. I enjoyed very much Steven’s review, he describes the perfume very thoroughly and with lots of passion, welcome to Cafleurebon!!
I didn’t know the brand and despite not being a lover of gourmand fragrances, this one intrigues me a lot because it seems really unique: would love to be the lucky winner! Greetings from Italy

  • Christos GX says:

The informations, description and the fragrances that had some similarity to this one are the tops things iam getting from the review.Im not an american,so i can not say much, but from an outsiders, memorial day is a tribute to all the lost ones that protected the freedom of people to this day.I live in Greece.

  • LightOfJoy says:

It’s so good to see a Redolessence video featured on Cafleurbon. I have a lot of respect for him, his reviews, and his channel. Like him, I enjoy plum in fragrances, and I liked the way he described the tonka as having almond-like quality. This scent sounds absolutely delicious.

When I think of Memorial Day, I think of my father’s best friend, who passed away during service in the Vietnam War. My father never liked talking about it, but when people brought up war flippantly, he made sure that they became aware of the graveness of it quickly. My father had a purple heart, so if I win this fragrance, it will be a reminder of his memory and his service to our country.

I am American, and live in Houston, TX, USA.

  • Jolina Santa Maria says:

This cologne reminds me of my Dad he actually is a purple heart recipient if you have ever seen an actual PH medal they are beautiful! what a beautiful tribute the bottle is gorgeous!! I love the shape of the bottle the details of the blood vessels look awesome, stevens “Map of the Heart” review I really thank him for saying what a purple heart medal means allot of people don’t know this an act of valor!! opens up with sweetness from top to bottom!!

  • Love the passion that he portrait in his video. Memorial day always a remembrance of those who pass away to me. Currently live in texas, usa

  • Kevin Mitchell says:

A parfum. It has the strength to hold together and to assure that it will bloom and convey the intent of the perfumer. Gourmand fragrance although they tend to convey a sense of the gustatory; on some will also take up the character of the individual and create a catalytic experience. A great fragrance experience awaits.

  • Map of the Heart giveaway? Really nice .
I do have the pleasure of having one , and smelled all Map Of The Heart fragrances.
    White Heart V 7 90ml bottle I own.
I only wonder why Map Of The Heart fragrances are available all over EU , but not back home. I have seen them in Germany and Spain. Local boutique in Barcelona , is where I bought V 7.
V 5 to me smells almost exactly like Steven’s description . I’ll have to say I also smell some tropical beverage . Maybe it’s because of plums and cherries and licorice, I can’t say.
On Memorial Day Weekend we mourn fallen US soldiers , killed on duty. My prayers go to all military families in US.
Thanks for the draw, also adding Steven to “Team Cafleurebon” was awesome. Fine person, and knowledgeable reviewer.
USA most of the year, and Germany from time to time

  • jimwangkcbs says:

Love Steven’s description on the video, very clear and thorough! Now I’m ready to buy one myself!

  • Mike Menchinton says:

Steven is always well educated on the fragrances he reviews. I’ve always enjoyed them. Good luck.

  • I reside in Washington DC. I have been Steven’s fragrances channel viewer for quite some times now. I have always enjoyed his fragrance reviews as they are very detailed and professionally explained.
I would love experience the purple ink note Steven mentioned on the review along with Australian sandalwood note he mentioned and add this beautiful piece of art to my collection!
Memorial Day for me is a time to pause and remember, reflect and honor the fallen. Also celebrate and pay tribute to those who died serving in the military! Thanks!!

  • Sounds like it’s for people that are daring, matches the name and description perfectly!

  • lilacdays says:

I was already familiar with Steven’s video and I believe he is very articulate and precise when depicting scents.
Even if I’ve never tried anything from the Map of the Hear, I’m drawn to purple flowers. The mysterious puple inky note got my attention, I have to say.
Welcome to Cafleurebon, you’re a great addition to the team!
Many thanks for this draw. I live in France.

  • I like Steven’s description of the ink accord. It’s things like that that can set a perfume apart from the standard fare. Thanks for the draw!

    I am in Canada.

  • wandering_nose says:

I have been following Steven with delight as I value him for his pure passion, dedication and thoroughness of his reviews. Purple Heart V.5 has been built around a very honorable concept which appeals to me a lot. The fragrance itself sounds like a dream come true for lovers of deep scents with dark-ish type of sweetness. I love the cherry and plum in the opening, licorice and violet in the heart and tonka bean, sandalwood, amber and vanilla in the base. Thank you from Ireland, EU

  • realtyisme says:

As a US Naval veteran, I truly enjoyed Steven’s You Tube video. He has captured my attention in regards to this fragrance. I know the honor and bravery that are represented by the Purple Heart Medal. It requires a sense of sacrifice that not many would offer. Usually during a time of darkness. However, due to the heroic, selfless efforts of some, there is a bright future for others. If this fragrance captures that essence…WOW, this is one I must try!

Memorial Day for me represents the greatest selfless act that one does for their family, friends, and mankind…to lay down their life for the love of others.

  • Memorial Day means a lot to me because I have many friends in the military. It’s a somber day because it represents so much sacrifice millions of men and women have made for our country.
As for Steven’s review, I absolutely love the way he described the fragrance that is remains a gourmand fragrance from top to bottom but in a very unique way. I love that there is a cherry note. I’ve grown to really enjoy fragrances that have a cherry note. I love gourmand fragrances and this one sounds like a really special blend. I also don’t own any other fragrances that have licorice in it except for Lolita Lempicka. And I must say, that is an incredibly unique bottle.
    I live in the USA.

  • petergigov says:

Wow a lot of time and effort went to create such a bottle.
Fruity, woody, inky sweet , no wonder Redollesense put Purple Heart on such pedestal . I’m not sure I’ve smelled anything like it before , nice representation of niche perfumery.
On Memorial Day weekend we honor all fallen US soldiers, who gave their lives protecting the country.
Overly exsiting giveaway, and I’m also happy to see Redolessence being a part of Cafleurebon crew

  • Gail Gross review of Map of the Heart White Heart v.7 , ~2 years ago was the first time I’ve heard the name of the brand.
Back then Gail description of v.7 reminded me of homemade plum jam my grandma is making each year. Thanks to Gail I bought it , but it was not an easy task . A friend of mine brought it with him from Europe. I rarely buy fragrances without sampling first, but v.7 was successful purchase.
Maybe I’m thinking about grandma a lot, or just Map of the Heart v.5 I feel connected with again , so warm, fun and cozy.
On Memorial Day weekend we cherish our fallen in battle troops
    Such a nice draw, thanks.

Great review Steven and welcome to CaFleurebon.

I love the bottle that this brand has put out. I really love that you took time in your video to show off the bottle.

I’m very curious about the inky accord in this fragrance and how it plays in with all the fruity notes.

Memorial Day is about sacrifice that many time I wonder if it was actually necessary.

    Cheers from WI, USA

Welcome Steven, so nice to see you on Cafleurebon .
I have to say V5 bottle design is astonishing . Map of the Heart do have one of the best looking bottles i have ever seen.
Multilayered fragrance, dark fruits, sandalwood, vanilla and licorice. I’m definitely intrigued.
Memorial Day is for those of us , who do acknowledge all fallen US soldiers, who gave their lives for the country
Beautiful giveaway , thanks a lot

  • I like how first Steven reassure everyone with a well known perfumer setting a background perception of what to expect. Then leads into a dark cherry plum scent. Cherry and plums are very well rounded sweet scents. I am an American and Memorial Day is a day to honor the sacrifices people have made so we can enjoy our freedoms. .

    USA Louisiana

  • I do love the association with the purple heart medal and find that purple ink accord fascinating. The tart but deep fruit in that accord sounds so nice! I’ve enjoyed violet type fragrances in a past but the rose note is a little bit unexpected for me. All in all this sounds like a beautiful fragrance. Memorial day is definitely a time to celebrate and honor those that have served our country. I live in the USA. Thanks for the giveaway!

  • Michael Prince says:

What I enjoyed about Steven’s YouTube review of Map of the Heart Purple Heart V.5 is how well spoken he is, how knowledgable he is about fragrances, and how well he describes this fragrance. A spicy, sweet, and gourmand leaning fragrance sounds absolutely perfect and I love the presentation of the bottle. I am active duty in the Air Force currently and was also in the Marine Corps, so it’s important to remember the fallen that gave the ultimate sacrifice fighting for the freedoms we hold so sacred. I am from Ohio, USA.

I am most intrigued by the smell of purple ink. Purple in particular? I collect ink in addition to perfume, so of course I’m intrigued. Absolutely gorgeous bottle. My feelings about Memorial Day are too complex to write about here. Cheers! In the US

  • Álvaro Ramiro says:

The opening part and the notes of the perfume is what got my attention. I’d love to have it in my collection.

  • WaltherP99 says:

Due to misunderstanding, technically I’m entering for the second time
Map of the Heart i was introduced to through UK blog , because of White Heart and Tom Ford Plum Japonais comparison.Plum Japonais is my favorite fragrance ever , sadly discontinued , so I was intrigued. London , Harrods to be precise , is where I smelled all. The whole line is super good, I would gladly wear each and every one. Highly underrated house in my opinion. Usually I like sharing my thoughts, but I do agree with all Steven says.
If I have to rate my favorite Map of the Heart fragrances:
    1. White Heart 7
    2. Purple Heart 5
    3. Gold Heart 3
Steven aka Redollesense I follow from the very beginning of his YouTube channel 8-9 years ago. It was Versace Eros his first, or one of his first videos ,Welcome 🙂
Doesn’t matter if you’re American, or not , if you live in the States, make your money here , found new life and happiness , Memorial Day should mean a lot to you, it does to me. My condolences to all military families who lost fathers, brothers and love ones.
    All @cafleurebon, @redolessence @mapoftheheart @jacqueshuclier @pierdinand i already follow.

  • I like how the fragrance stays sweet from the top notes to base notes and has a spicy note. I also like its versatility and projection. Its a perfectly formulated perfume.

  • SleazySmurf says:

I would love to be entered as Steven’s review makes it sound quite excellent. As far as Memorial day goes I’m a veteran and it’s honestly a rough holiday as it brings back memories of some of my lost friends.

  • I don’t have Facebook because Mark Suckerburg is a lizard. But would love to win.

  • I really like the meaning behind the bottle I think it’s a really unique way to show respect to those who served. I never seen a fragrance with notes like this so I really wonder how it would smell; the only plum fragrance I’ve smelled is Floriental but this seems to be on another level. If I won this I think I might give it to my brother in law who is a lieutenant in the Navy.
