Honeysuckle flowers

Honeysuckle is amongst my most favourite flowers, I adore seeing it bloom in my parents’ garden. It grows along the back of a fence, climbing through bushes to allow its blossoms to reach the sun’s highest points. To me, honeysuckle signifies summer, as I watch its wild tendrils and petals flow and curve in beautiful patterns like a strange bird in flight. I first smelled Pure Honeysuckle on a rather sad day when my cat passed. I reached for the sample wanting to smell something familiar and good, what I wasn’t expecting was the burst of summer nostalgia weaved through heady memories of honeysuckle and white florals. It was a beautiful escape that felt full of optimism yet tinged with nostalgia. Perfumer Ioanna Tanionou has captured some magic in her composition in Pure Honeysuckle, one that smells of the past yet feels optimistic like more amazing summers are yet to come.

Manos Gerakinis Parfums’ Wild Tuberose feels even more like sweet innocence summer love when compared to its new counterpart Pure Honeysuckle’s purr. As it unfurls on your skin a sweet and intoxicating haze of summer lust envelops you in its airy aura. It captures that heady aroma of the honeysuckle flower in both an artistic and abstract manner weaving in the scent of summer and seduction as it dries down. It’s much more than a soliflore.

Pure Honeysuckle opens with a complex bouquet of white florals, with subtle fruity facets that sketch a wild greenery with creamy tropical facets making it feel like the scent of summer has just dawned on your skin. Perfumer Ioanna Tanionou cleverly weaves in fruity facets of blackcurrant and coconut conjuring creeping weaving vines of the honeysuckle as it climbs through this summery floral haze reaching for the light. Blackcurrants sharp greens are hidden in the mix, those stems from which the magical flower blooms while the coconut brings out more summery milky facets giving Pure Honeysuckle a rich seductive feel. Gradually a floral honeyed aroma emerges, it’s not your obvious honey but reminds me of ivy honey, a more sharper greener variety produced by bees that have collated pollen primarily from ivy plants. Its use here is rather clever again contributing to the vine like greenery while giving the flowers a subtle animalic allure.

Manos Gerakinis Pure Honeysuckle is brimming with white florals, they flow and weave through each other, creating a softly alluring haze as if the sun is setting slowly and their intoxicating aromas emerge. I love how the florals are combined to conjure the magic of honeysuckle, its gives you a rich artistic interpretation of the flower blooming in the heat.Pure Honeysuckle feels like a beautiful memory of summer love, the kind that makes you bite your lip and your heart flutter as you look back on it through rose, more aptly, white floral tinted sunglasses.

Jasmine sings the high notes, its soft abstract narcotic haze forms a veil for the tuberose and gardenia that are giving a beauty body to Pure Honeysuckle. It’s light and airy letting the tuberose form a smooth fleshiness giving things a subtle seductive edge, but for me it’s the gardenia that truly stands out. Gardenia enhances the fleshiness of the tuberose giving it an earthy mushroomy softly indolic wildness with a sleek waxy sheen. Feeling heady in an elegant way, yet playful with fruity undertones that pick up on the tropical coconut summer notes from the opening. It’s gives Pure Honeysuckle a rather nostalgic feel, almost vintage leaned, yet the clever use of coconut and a very contemporary jasmine keep it feeling very of now. It’s honey animalic purr too with modern musks and cashmeran also keep it contemporary with a lovely nod to the past. In the air it has a kind of saint on the streets feel, but the more intimate you get the more sinner in the sheets facets are revealed.

You can sense the sophisticated honeysuckle flower creep and climb through the dense musks and sharp greens looking for that soft hazy sunlight of summer as things dry down. Soft creamy woods linger at the base of Pure Honeysuckle, they add weight leaning more into a soft smoke musks trapped in fine linen, its light and soft adding subtle darker tones to the rich floral musks. Combined with the heady florals it creates a soft furry sensation, neither entirely animalic nor purely floral narcotics, a stunning merging of both. Something between angora and cashmere, a soft and sensual structure that tries to tame the magic honeysuckle accord as more silvery honey tones add a subtle honeyed sheen to the mix.

Manos Gerakinis Pure Honeysuckle unlocks many feelings within me, it’s undeniably sensual yet playful and airy. It’s well dressed with a flirty wink from across the room making you remember a summer love full of lust, one whose mark is left on you in an unforgettable way. It feels joyous with its upbeat summery creamy florals almost as if past summer lusts have been bottles like a beautiful memory you relive with each wear.

Notes: Honeysuckle, Blackcurrant, Coconut, Gardenia, Jasmine, Tuberose, Vetiver, Honey, Amber, Musk and Cashmere Wood.

  • Oh god, I love the scent of honeysuckle! It’s so unique and yet so typically white floral! I find it so massively neglected in perfumery and my heart sings with joy when I see it as the central note of a new release!
In this particular instance, the combination with blackcurrant and coconut intrigues me a lot, and the addition of honey, I imagine, reaffirms this juicy, nectar-like profile of honeysuckle. Of course jasmine and gardenia couldn’t miss in order to shape a truly white floral identity, but I’m happy it’s the honeysuckle who is the star of the show.
I have tried Pivoine by Manos Gerakinis and I love it!
    From the EU.

  • How I love honeysuckle and blackcurrant in my perfumes. I am excited about the giveaway and opportunity to win this baby. Please include me in your giveaway.

I let honeysuckle grow all over the back area of my yard – the scent is summer! I would love to try this Pure Honeysuckle (I have not had the opportunity to try Manos Gerakinis fragrance yet). I live in New England.

I love white florals with a hint of green, and honeysuckle takes me back to my childhood summers running around my friend’s backyard! I’ve tried a few Manos Gerakinis fragrances, Pivoine and Selene are two favorites (always happy to support a fellow Greek). Thanks from USA!

  • The evocative blend of honeysuckle with blackcurrant, coconut, and white florals like gardenia and jasmine sparks my interest – it’s a nostalgic summer escape with a seductive, playful edge. I haven’t tried Manos Gerakinis perfumes yet. I live in Poland, EU.

  • Honeysuckle is such an iconic summer floral. I grew up eating the delicate “honey”, and I miss that sweet childhood memory. This brought it crashing back in the most wonderful way. To be that child again! Ah. In maryland.

  • Kensolfactoryodyssey says:

The pure honeysuckle! It brings back so many memories and taste memories. This sounds absolutely exquisite. I live in the USA.

  • This sounds lovely!!! I am always excited to discover new fragrances from this brand. I do resonate very well with them and love a lot of their offerings, but my favorite so far are Methexis and Omen. I do love a good white and yellow floral with a hint of coconut and sweet summery notes. One thing that is particularly interesting to me is the honey note with animalic facets. I’m super excited to try this one! Cheers from Illinois, US.

Gardenia enhances the fleshiness of the tuberose, soft sensual structure of the musks and the general vintage tones – these are the elements that attract me most in the description of this cute bottle. I live in the EU.

  • goknitintheocean says:

    Hi there,

So interesting to consider this innocent little flower. Used to pick the blossoms and suck the nectar; I’m thinking Monterey, CA was where I had access as a kid to so many fresh blooming flowers. Reading about the animalic offshoots of this note was new news! Thank you for this thoughtful review. I’ve never tried Manos Gerakinis scents, but look forward to experiencing them. I am in NYC/USA.

    Thanks!
    Deborah

  • Always sad to hear of a cat passing, takes me back to the fur babies in my past. Honeysuckle would be comforting. I have fond memories of it growing in my Grandparent’s back yard and pinching off the part on the back to taste the nectar (sorry bees). Here we are at the end of summer and I love the optimism of more amazing summers yet to come! Thanks for the chance to try this beauty. USA.

  • The alluring mix of honeysuckle with blackcurrant, coconut, and lush white florals like gardenia and jasmine instantly draws me in — a nostalgic summertime getaway wrapped in a playful, seductive charm. I haven’t yet experienced Manos Gerakinis perfumes.
Honeysuckle feels like the essence of summer itself. I remember sipping its delicate “honey” as a child, a sweetness I still long for. This fragrance brought that memory rushing back in the most beautiful way. To be that carefree child once more! In USA

  • The way J describes Pure Honeysuckle as a weaving of honeysuckle’s wild summer tendrils with creamy coconut and green, sharp blackcurrant truly captivates me—it’s like nostalgia and optimism bottled together. I’m drawn to how jasmine, gardenia, and tuberose lend an airy yet sensual elegance, while that ivy-like honeyed nuance adds a subtle animalic allure. I haven’t had the chance to experience Manos Gerakinis perfumes before, but this composition alone makes me eager to explore the brand. Thank you for the chance! From Athens, Greece (EU).

  • SallieRyder says:

There is no scent more divine than that of the Honeysuckle flower. It was always present in our backyard as I played with my siblings, later with my children. After I moved away, it appeared in the park where my children played. I used to break off some branches to bring home and place throughout the rooms. I have a looking forward to trying out this scent that will bring me back to the days when my children were young and innocent full of joy and wonderment.

  • The scent of honeysuckle is spring and youth to me. Manos seems to have gone the sensual route with the addition of jasmine and tuberose, creamy woods and soft smoke. I have tried Manos Gerakinis fragrances before from a discovery set and have been impressed with what I’ve sampled. MD, USA

  • This sounds absolutely heavenly! I love the sound creamy woods softening the honeysuckle!
    thank you from Pennsylvania!

  • carrie_earle says:

J saying that this is like the bottled memories of a long ago summer lust make me want to get my hands on it asap. I love a good honeysuckle scent and this sounds remarkable from J’s review. I’ve never had the opportunity to try a fragrance from Manos Gerakinis. I live in the USA.

  • Starting to read this review, I assumed Pure Honeysuckle would be a straightforward soliflore, but the fruity, green, and animalic notes make this fragrance more dynamic. The central combination of white florals does sound true to its namesake, but the coconut and modern base again broaden the scope. Very deft composition. It’s honeysuckle, plus.

I’m in the USA. I haven’t tried any Manos Gerakinis fragrances yet.

  • claudia cosarca says:

Honeysuckle and gardenia are my favorite glowers. I am looking for a special floral parfume, different from designer market. From EU.

  • FreshFindswithMe says:

I have not had an opportunity to try Manos Gerakinis fragrances but this sounds amazing!!! Honeysuckle, Honey, Jasmine, and Coconut to round it out!!! Yum!!! This sounds complex, yet delicate, and beautiful!!! I’m intrigued to try this!! USA.

  • Honeysuckle also reminds me of summers growing up in the Midwest, also trying to discover the honey in the flowers. I do love scents that remind me of hot humid Midwestern summers, and this one fits the bill. What a lovely review and generous draw, thank you from the US. I have not tried any other perfumes from the house, but I do enjoy samples to try just a bit.

  • foreverscents says:

I grew up in the southern part of the USA where honeysuckle was everywhere. I loved the fragrance and also the nectar from these beautiful flowers. Pure Honeysuckle appeals to me because of all the white flowers notes. Those notes, combined with cashmere wood note, sound soft and sensual.
J, I am sorry to hear about the passing of your cat. I am happy you had this beautiful fragrance to lift your spirits.
    I live in the USA.

  • I love the scent of honeysuckle flowers and J’s description of the wasy Pure Honeysuckle’s honeysuckle fragrance climbs vine-like through the musks and greenery, much like an actual honeysuckle plant might, is lovely. I have not tried any other Manos Gerakinis scents yet so this would be my first if I am fortunately enough to win! I am in USA.

  • I have wanted to try Pure Honeysuckle since its release. Like J, I love honeysuckle flowers. I am sorry to hear they smelled Pure Honeysuckle on the day their cat passed. It sounds like it was a comforting scent during that time. I love how J mentioned that the gardenia gives Pure Honeysuckle a nostalgic and almost vintage feel. It sounds like such a beautiful, airy composition.

I have tried all but four fragrances from Manos Gerkinis. My favorites include Immortelle, Methexis, Pivoine, and Rose Poetique.

Thank you, J, for the great review, and thank you to Manos Gerakinis for the giveaway. I am located in the USA.

  • J review describe Pure Honeysuckle a burst of summer nostalgia woven through heady memories of honeysuckle and white. It’s “sensual yet playful and airy,” embodying both flirty optimism and a sensual whisper of summer past . Pure Honeysuckle is less a literal honeysuckle simile and more a vivid, emotional reimagining nostalgic, yet optimistic like a summer bottled: warm, memory-tinged, and ready to enchant. From USA.
