The Jovoy Paris X CaFleureBon Make it Musk Perfume Box is a project of passion. Musk fragrances can be powerful or subtle, all natural or synthetic. We began eight months ago to curate the ultimate musk perfume collection with Jovoy Paris and owner and founder Francois Henin, the “Ambassador of Niche” and his amazing team. The CaFleureBon family (here living in five countries), curated 14 fragrances- from soft and subtle to potent and animalic that highlight the many facets of musk. Musk, although often thought of as a supporting ingredient, is complex… and has many tonalities. For nearly two years, during this pandemic, what we miss most is real-life interaction, the feeling of being hugged from the others (a kiss from a lover, long-missed parents, relatives, kids). Our musk, is what makes us human. Below are the choices in alphabetical order, along with the name of the perfumer and our team member and where they live. Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

You can read our brief reviews and much more from Francois here. NO ANIMAL MUSK WERE USED IN ANY OF THESE PERFUMES. ALL ARE CRUELTY FREE

Wow, that’s great. I don’t even know what scent I would spray myself on here … However, the aroma Dove Musk Aoud sounds best to me! Thanks for the great review, Steven. I come from Germany.

  • I would most definitely pick Pure Eve since I know I love it but do not own a bottle. Writing in from New York.

  • Cesar Abreu says:

Such an amazing metaphor regarding the musk and human need for contact during this pandemic. Musk can be the leit motif to reconnect with others. The fragance that I want to win is Roja Dove Parfums Musk Aoud! It was difficult decision because Steven describe it each one as an unique olfactory experience of the musk/skin

  • joshuabrian says:

Wow! If I were fortunate enough to win, I’d have to go with the Roja. I’ve always wanted one. Thanks for the draw. From Indianapolis!

  • Thank you!!! ❤️ Thank You Jovoy Paris, Francois Henin, Michelyn, and ALL the Wonderful CaFleureBon writers!!! The Musk Box is such a fabulous idea! Michelyn is right, we have missed out on the scent of touch during the Covid crisis. I’m delighted to experience these fragrances. If I were to win, I would select Parfum d’Empire Musc Tonkin (since so many experts wanted to pick it!). Thank you for this amazing opportunity! ❤️ USA

  • This musk collection is a great idea, especially at this time when people have been so isolated. Like many others, if I were to win this draw, I would choose Roja Parfums Musk Aoud. From Steven’s reviews, I think I would also love to try Jovoy Paris Liturgie des Heures and Tiziana Terenzi Dioniso, former for its deep incense notes and the latter for its complexity. I haven’t tried any on this list, but know where to look if I am searching for a musk perfume. Thanks to Cafleurebon and Jovoy, and to Michelyn and Francois Henin for this collection. I am also a Redolessence subscriber. From USA.

  • patrick_348 says:

I left a comment on the 10/18 introduction. For my choice, I have to go with Liturgie des Heures by Jovoy. I love the idea of a mixture of musk and incense. I imagine it as a kind of blending of the physical with the spiritual–not in any kind of sacrilegious way, just in unifying these two aspects of human experience. I live in the US, in North Carolina.

  • What an amazing selection and what an amazing draw! Thank you!

I have visited the Jovoy website more times than I’d like to admit. I might as well make it my homepage, because I have a look on a nearly daily basis. As of 2021 my olfactive journey has led me to more and more complex fragrances and Jovoy is THE place for me to explore the offerings of some of the best perfumers in the world.

The fragrances short-listed for this discovery box are amazing! I would love to try all of these, but the fragrance I would like to try the most is Musk Aoud by Roja Dove. I am familiar with the high quality and complexity of some his creations, but Musk Aoud really piqued my interested after hearing Steven’s brief, but passionate description.

    Greetings from the UK!

  • An incredible selection! Each fragrance looks amazing, and I will definitely have to test them all out – it’s a challenge to pick just one. Steven spoke so beautifully about Musc Moschus by Rania J., that I it has now become a part of my next sample order. I would be lucky to receive a full bottle! I live in Pittsburgh, PA.

  • WeAreScentient says:

What a beautiful selection, theres a few I’m dying to smell an so this is a super hard choice, but Roberto Greco’s Porter Sa Peau is a special one I’d love to own. Crossing all things crossable.

    I’m in Dublin Ireland

  • My goodness, so hard to choose! I had to watch this video twice!! Thanks for the reviews, Steven. The packaging is beautiful for this sample box. There is such a diversity of musks here, from light and airy to dark and sensual. Michelyn’s creative motivation for this project is very timely. I agree we have all miss hugs over the past year or so. I’m a sucker for Roja Dove fragrances so I’ll go with Steven’s choice and pick Roja Dove Musc Aoud. I absolutely loved hearing about all of these. Thank you for the giveaway Jovoy and Cafleurbon. In the USA.

  • This is a brilliant idea. Steven’s video- Did a great job describing all 14 musk. My choice would be Atelier Des Ors Musc Immortal. Thank you Steven for the reviews, Cafleurebon, Jovoy Paris. USA

  • Omer Chowdhury says:

Oh boy what an amazing project! All of these fragrances sound amazing and the inspiration behind the project is even more respectable. This pandemic has definitely taken a toll on human contact and the musk metaphor is beautiful. The Atelier Des Ors Musc Immortal has been a dream of mine ever since I read the note breakdown and seen the bottle. If I was fortunate enough to win the draw, I would love to smell that one. Thank you again for this wonderful project!!

    Much love from Texas 🙂

  • An astounding variety of musk perfumes! Thank you for highlighting this – and I appreciate that these are all cruelty free examples of all that musk can be. I think Jul et Mad’s Stairway to Heaven sounds the most appealing to me. Boston area.

  • Thus is a really tough decision. I have it down to Jul Et Mad Stairway to Heaven and Atelier des Ors Musc Immortel. I remember reading the reviews on cafleurebon and wanting to try both. Given my love of iris, the Musc Immortel would be my choice. I’m in MD, USA.

  • msnitechemist says:

Thank you, Steven, for the video. It’s one thing to read about the scents, and another when you see another person actually experiencing the scents. Both are good but in this case, Steven’s opinions added another layer to my “reading” experience. As mentioned in my comment in yesterday’s post, what a fun project! You all must feel so proud.

I narrowed it down to three – Rania J. Musc Moschus, Sylvaine Delacourte Paris Smeraldo, and Jul Et Mad Stairway to Heaven. After Steven’s endorsement of the sandalwood, I’d like Rania J. Musc Moschus if I win. Thank you! I’m from the US.

  • This variety offers appeal for different types of tastes. I lean forward to try Musc Poudré.
Thanks for the opportunity, and thanks to Steven for introducing us to these fine fragrances. I come from Puerto Rico.

  • Perfume_Madness says:

Wow what a collection! I miss old pre-pandamic life so much it makes me cry. These scents sound nice and comforting for lonely times. Also happy times.

  • I really enjoyed this video. I needed Steven’s descriptions to learn about these fragrances since I didn’t have the chance to try most of them. I particularly love the choices because they represent many brands I’m very interested in trying but haven’t had a chance yet. I also think that the choices give a great overview of some of the big important niche houses available at Jovoy. I hope this is just the first in a series of discovery sets based on notes. I love musky fragrances so this is a very strong start! I must say many fragrances sound really amazing based on Steven’s descriptions but the one I’d pick as my number one is for sure Atelier Materi Bois d’Ambrette. I’ve been very interested in this brand for some time and this particular fragrance sounds amazing. I love the fruity and musky components and a perfect combo with sandalwood which I love. I’m from Illinois, US.

  • What a wonderful and thoughtful selection! Steven’s reviews are very helpful. I think Musc Immortal would be my first choice and second would be Musk Tonkin. Thank you!! Brooklyn, USA.

  • “.. wondering what the hell is musk anyway!? ” This made me laugh as it’s very true. Thank you so much for the draw, what a great way to experience musk.
Thank you for an awesome review Steven.
    UK

  • Your selections really were great. I enjoyed reading the short descriptions in the earlier article but Steven’s video and descriptions were great and helpful. A few I’ve been wanting to try from the list are Bois D’Ambrette, Musc Moschus, Stairway To Heaven, Musc Immortelle and Porter Sa Peau since I read about it here. Id love to try them all though. A very difficult choice but if I was to win I’d choose Musc Moschus. Thanks for the generous draws, from CT USA.

  • As instructed, I did leave a comment on the 10/18 introduction page.
Michelyn’s comments at the beginning of both articles referencing that our musk is what makes us human has struck a chord with me and has left a deep impression on my heart.
After reviewing all 14 fragrances in this musk collection I’ve discovered quite a few that have piqued my attention, e.g.,:
Atelier des Ors Musc Immortel – Iris, sweetness, and earthiness
Atelier Materi Bois d’Ambrette – Ambrette and Sandalwood
Rania J. Musc Moschus – Sweet creaminess of Vanilla Sandalwood
Tiziana Terenzi – Duality between fresh and sweet accords

I really would like to add all of these fragrances to my collection…and I will, eventually. However, if I must choose only one that I can win in this extraordinary giveaway, it has to be Roja Dove’s Musk Aoud. This appears to be the most complex, yet attractive to me, based on Steve’s note breakdown…and his pure love of this fragrance.
Thank you CaFleureBon Family, Jovoy Paris/Francois Henin, and Steve of Redolessence. What a wonderful opportunity you have availed to us all. USA

  • Isaac Nellans says:

Awesome selection of beautiful musk fragrances. If I had to choose, I think I would go with a full bottle of Roja Musk Aoud. Writing in from Chicago

  • Bryant Worley says:

As I stated in my comment on the 10/18 introduction, I think the panel made excellent choices. Every fragrance chosen seems to be of the highest quality, as well as being quite creative. The bottle I would like to choose, would have to be “Atelier Des Ors Musc Immortel”.

I live in Waldorf, Maryland, USA.

  • O feel that they are amazing. I would love to try Roja Musk Aoud Perfume. I live in Poland, EU.

  • Fragrance Capital says:

It is an amazing selection and project! Thank You Michelyn for the unforgettable idea! thank you, Steven, for the wonderful presentation! Thank you Jovoy Paris, Francois Henin, and all Wonderful CaFleureBon editors!!! You did a fabulous job by showing us these brilliant Musk stars in the sky of fragrance. These chosen fragrances are amazing! I would love to enjoy all of these unique gems. But my heart goes to Musk Aoud by Roja Dove and my mind dreams with Michelyn choice Musc Tonkin. Greetings from the Sarajevo! BiH

  • I absolutely LOVE the selection of perfumes in this set. I’ll probably be getting the whole set if I don’t win, since the price is just right for the perfumes in it! And these are TOP OF THE CLASS musk perfumes, without a doubt! I’d love to win Roja Parfums Musk Aoud, Roberto Greco Porter Sa Peau, Parfum d’ Empire Musc Tonkin or Atelier Des Ors Musc Immortel since these are the ones I don’t have in my collection – and would absolutely love to have!

  • I would go with Musc Tonkin. Since this is Michelyn’s favorite, I trust her senses and I feel that Musc Tonkin would fit my taste as well.
    Thank you!

  • I have tired most of these and one I still need to add is musk aoud from roja , I would love that one as I have recently heavily delved into the brand and just picked up several bottles

    I live in Israel.

  • Musk until confinment wasn’t something I was looking for. But now I have tried as many as I could. As Michelyn was saying, musk is what make us humain, and this might be how I tried to recreate human contact. Congratulation for your 8 months accomplishment, this selection is perfect and has musk for everybody. I am no exception, since it has one that I have been craving for: Stairway To Heaven.
Thank you for this incredible opportunity. From France

  • I believe the selections that were chosen are all good choices. One of my favorite musky fragrances is Ramon Monegal Cotton Musk, which I see is on the Jovoy website. I would have loved to see it included, as well as Les EAUX Primordiales Musk Superfluide. I haven’t tried Musk Superfluide, but it sounds very intriguing and I would have loved to hear your thoughts on it. However, I still think the selections that were made are excellent choices to represent musk-prominent fragrances. I greatly enjoy Jul et Mad Stairway to Heaven, The Different Company Pure eVe, and Roja Dove Musk Aoud. The other choices are fragrances that I’ve been curious about, so it was nice to read about them in the previous article. I would love to win Jul et Mad Stairway to Heaven, followed by The Different Company Pure eVe (second choice), or Roja Dove Musk Aoud (third choice). Thank you for the giveaway. I am located in the USA.

  • Wow really good choices. Musk was a note that I initially had problems with but I now appreciate it more in perfumery. If I am successful I would love to Christian provenzano musc poudre. Thanks for the giveaway from the United Kingdom

  • It was really hard to choosing my favourite but Rania j musc moschus hits the spot for me. Thanks a lot from the UK

  • Wow, thank you for the deeper dive into musks. This curated box sounds like a work of art and the idea itself is a winner 🙂 I’ve not yet smelt any of the fragrances selected. From Steven’s description and also remembering Lauryn’s review, I’d have to pick Jovoy Paris Liturgie des Heures for the frankincense, incense and myrrh notes – sounds spiritually musky. I’m in USA

  • BreathingMyBelovedIn says:

Again, fantastic idea and alluring box! I would pick Musc Moschus (Rania J. ), sounds very much my style of gourmand comfort for the upcoming winter season. I am in Israel

  • Claumarchini says:

I have already said in my comment to the previous article that I am a big fan of Jovoy’s boxes: the selections are amazing, and this collaboration with Cafleurebon editors makes this box even more special! Francois Henin is a true master! I watched Steven’s video twice, and still want them all, so if I were the lucky winner I would go for Stairway to heaven by Jul et Mad because I love Cécile Zarokian’s work, but it is indeed a very difficult choice! Well done everybody and thank you as always for this great opportunity! Greetings from Italy

  • They all sound intriguing, but I’ll have to gp with Roja Dove Musk Aoud. I’ve been impressed with every single one of their offerings that I’ve tried. Elysium, Enigma, Danger, Diaghilev, Elixir. That is one of the best track records for a brand in my book. Thank you for the informative video and the draw.
    I live in Denmark, EU.

  • I adore the Different Company Pure Eve. Reading about all of the musk fragrances has me very excited to experience all of the variations. We all need more cozy and comfort experiences. I am in USA.

  • I have tried quite a few from Atelier des Ors, but Musc Immortel was not among those. However, I like the style of this house and everything I tested matches my style, so please count me in for Musc Immortel.
    Many thanks!

  • The brand selection on Jovoy is first rate and these musk featured fragrances are a nice cross section of what is available on the website. Several of the Make It Musk box selections appeal to me but I would have to go with Roja Dove Musk Aoud.

Thanks to all involved with this project and giveaways!!!

    I’m in the USA.

  • This video was really helpful in picking out a full bottle wishlist. Actually several ended up on my wishlist. I’m going to have to buy the box. But, for my full bottle winning wish, I would love Jul et Mad Stairway to Heaven. I am in the US.

  • I felt so inspired watching Steven’s video. So many musks, each with its own identity, showing the multiple facets of one of the most common, yet unexhaustable notes.
The one which spoke to me the most in the video, even though the choice was VERY tough, is Musc Immortel by AdO, which I have read so many great things about.
    I live in Denmark.
    Thanks!

  • Michelyn’s poignant introduction to the box and why musk was chosen drew me in. At the end of the day every day we are human and musk is part of us. As I noted in my comment on the curated box, I could spend hours “window shopping” musk at Jovoy but was not surprised that the editors’ curation was both thoughtful and and representative of different styles. From Michelyn’s choice of Musc Tonkin to the more subtle representations chosen, I really appreciated the diverse exploration.

Steven’s and the editors’ descriptions really helped with my (intellectual) understanding of the perfumes and made it almost impossible to choose blindly since all sound amazing! We ordered the box so will almost certainly be adding more, but I’d love to win the Atelier Des Ors Musc Immortel.

Thank you to François Henin and Jovoy Paris, Michelyn, Steven (and Redolessence), and theCaFleureBon editors for curating this box along with the draws! USA

  • I love the concept behind this collab! What an undertaking and what great choices. Some are not on my Musk Fragrance radar but soon will be. Thanks to all involved with this project. Gratitude! Hard choice but Stairway to Heaven would be my choice.

  • Absolutely brilliant idea. As a musk lover I have been on the lookout for exactly such a box. Some of these I know, Roja Dove’s Musk Aoud I don’t. This is the one to excite me the most.

Maybe a general animalic box could be a thing for the future? For the civet, hyraceum, castoreum lovers?

  • I love the concept of this collection and feel like it has emerged at the perfect time. I recently discovered that the musk category, broad as it may be, is my favorite. I developed a fragrance fixation during quarantine, after years of being bothered by fragrance. I think the pandemic had me searching for ways to practice self-care and maintain some connection to the physical world in a way that wasn’t painful or dissociative.
Despite fragrance being literally atmospheric and intangible, I have come to understand so many fragrance categories as grounding. For nearly two years I was looking for something cocooning and soft. After accumulating sample upon sample in the pursuit of a scent experience I didn’t have the language for, I discovered I was looking for musk.

Now I am near-obsessively collecting musk fragrance samples and exploring different expressions of the material. No doubt, the search for an enveloping musk is tied to our need for humanity, intimacy, comfort, and self-care. I love

If I get lucky and receive a bottle of any of these fragrances, I think I would enjoy Musc Poudré by Christian Provenzano.

Also, Steven is so articulate about fragrance and it is a joy to listen to him tell us about the collection

  • Mazikeen Smith 24 says:

Wow! This collaboration of Cafleurebon x Jovoy Paris is so exciting! The fragrances are so great! What a lineup!
My top 3 would be Atelier Des Ors Musc Immortel, Roja Dove Musk Aoud, and Jul Et Mad Stairway to Heaven. It is also funny that all these three belongs to my favorites in Cafleurebon, Michelyn, Olya, and Steven. Also Cecile Zarokian <3
But I would pick Roja Dove Musk Aoud as this one leans more unisex..
Thank you François Henin for your generosity!
    Cheers from USA

  • 14 Shades of great musks.. Congratulations again to Michelyn and Francois of Jovoy Paris!
Also I love how the members of Cafleurebon selected these great fragrances,
My musk would be Roja Dove Musk Aoud. I chose this because I love the complexity of this one and my favorite notes are in it.
Thank you for giving us opportunity to win and experiencesuch amazing fragrances!
Have a fragrant day to all!
    USA

I did leave a comment on the other post about some of your curated fragrances, but I wanted to mention something Michelyn wrote, and how accurate I feel it is to my fragrance journey:

“ When we are born, we can barely see, just shadows and shapes”

When I first started this journey almost two years ago I truly was like a newborn.
I couldn’t see what quality was in fragrances.
I couldn’t understand the complexities of Ouds and musks.
My palette was very plain, simple and basic and I could possibly digest some of the more “challenging” fragrances.

I’m still not a mature adult in this fragrance journey, but more like someone in their late teens or early 20s.

Learning to expand my olfactive horizons, experimenting, trying new things, not liking or even hating something, only to come back to it 6 months or a year later and find that I LOVE IT.

Oud was never something I thought I would like (I was repulsed by Akaster), but I just ordered 9 Fragrance Du Bois decants and I’m kinda loving all the amazing different facets of Oud.

I could go on and on, but I will end this by once again thanking you Michelyn and Francois.

If given the chance, I would definitely chose Roja’s Musc Aoud simply because of all these fragrances that is the only one I’ve ever smelled, and it is GLORIOUS.

    Houston, Tx.

  • I would love to get my hands on Musc Moschus By Rania J since I’m also a Gourmand, Vanilla, Musc lover! Yum. From Saudi Arabia.

    Thank you

  • this is such a great collab. So glad you all have taken the time to pull this box together. I have always wanted to dive deeper into musks but was overwhelmed with the idea of how. I have already placed my order and cant wait to try them all. I am reaaly interested in receiving a bottle of the Roja Musk Aoud should I be selected.

  • I’ve never been drawn to musk fragrances. After watching Steven’s guidance I’d love to explore. I’m most interested in Roja’s offering. I’ve only smelled one on this list (Liturgie de Hueres) which I tested only because of the incense note. Thanks for the chance. USA.

  • There are some of the most unique scents I’ve seen and would love to smell. Nevertheless Musk Aoud by Roja speaks to me the most. Greetings from Poland!

  • What an awesome draw. So excited to think about winning ANY of these selections. As I wrote in my comment on the other post, I love how so many of these fragrances are “off the beaten path.” They really highlight the versatility of musk, compatible with fruits, florals, other animalics, or woods. My favorite of these is woods, especially OUD! Therefore, my choice would be….. Roja Dove Musk Aoud. Cheers from NC, USA.

  • I would like to try Roja Dove Parfums Musk Aoud, but the selection is intense and so varied. This is an exciting grouping. I’m sure it was amazing to see all the personalities reflected in this creation. In maryland.

  • wandering_nose says:

Steven’s review is a fantastic job done on the choices of the CaFleureBon editors and contributors and I am very grateful for such a brilliant video compendium of musk masterpieces in contemporary niche perfumery. After a good bit of internal struggle I have decided I would be the happiest with Jovoy Paris La Liturgie des Heures – I adore incense fragrances and I would love to own a bottle of a Jovoy Paris creation. Thank you for this very generous draw. I live in the Republic of Ireland, EU

  • sephrenia300 says:

Fantastic intro and video! I really enjoyed Stephen’s choice of Musk Aoud and his description of his choice. Based on what is available on Jovoy Paris’ site, I love that it combines musk with leathery labdanum and that the base is so complex, marrying so many different intense and exotic notes with the traditional French Chypre oakmoss and patchouli.

I also love that little gem of knowledge that 10 of the editors wanted to pick Musc Tonkin because of how absolutely stunning it is and that in the end Michelyn, by virtue of pulling rank, got to use it as her pick! What a cute story that illustrates just what a friendly, warm atmosphere infuses CaFleureBon and her editors, as well as the universal appeal of a well done musk perfume. I have only tried two of these musk perfumes, Musc Tonkin and Smeraldo, but both were really great perfumes, so I’m sure the other 9 will be equally beautiful. And I can certainly understand why the Musc Tonkin has garnered such fierce competition and champions!

I live in the US. I have also left a comment on the introduction by Michelyn and Francois Henin, and I am a Redolessence subscriber. If I were to win, I would love to win the Roja Dove Parfums Musk Aoud! Thank you for the wonderful draw.

  • Professor_Bair says:

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I love this musk perfume box idea! The choices are incredible and makes it very hard to choose one fragrance if I won. BUT… I would choose Atelier Des Ors Musc Immortel. USA

  • Beautiful selections, perfect for the seasons transitioning <3
I would choose Jul Et Mad Stairway to Heaven and I live in the USA.

  • A curated themed collection? Yes please! Michelyn, I hope this is a collaboration we see revisited for other offerings what a delightful idea. I’m not as familiar with Musk perfumes, and now here’s the perfect starting point. I’m looking forward to sharing the box I ordered with my wife. Steven’s video was a perfect overview of the highlights of each one.

It’s hard to select with so many enticing options, that said I choose Bon Parfumeur 903. It blends notes that are already favorites of mine into the overall mix.

    I’m in North Carolina USA

  • I love oud… So I’ll go with Roja dove Parfums musk aoud, if I’m the lucky one!!! Big fan of Redolessence & Cafleurebon, love when y’all work together even more!! Such a awesome draw of musk fragrances. Keep up the great work guys!! USA, thanks Cafleurebon, Redolessence & jovoy Paris for this amazing opportunity & good luck people!!!

  • I know that there are a lot of fragrances available at the Jovoy Paris website, and I think that it’s interesting that all 14 of these fragrances feature musk. Michelyn’s intro. caused me to want to become more familiar with different types of musk. If I were to win this giveaway draw, then I’d choose a full bottle of Jovoy Paris “Liturgie des Heures”. I’m a subscriber to Steven’s channel, and I appreciate Steven’s descriptions regarding these fragrances. I live in MD., U.S.A. Thank you for the giveaway opportunity.

For me, Musk is the synonym of sexy .. This note enhances your perfume quality and also your appearance quality. From your review, All these are sounding really nice and niche perfumes. Unfortunately haven’t tried any one of them.. Very well described . keep going..
