M. Micallef Note Vanillée Nectar (Jean Claude Astier and Geoffrey NEJMAN) 2023 + Between the Sheets Giveaway

M. Micallef Note Vanillee Nectar

M. Micallef Note Vanillée Nectar by Olya Bar©

It was a cold day late in February when I inhaled the new M. Micallef Note Vanillée Nectar for the first time, a scrumptious combination of vanilla and boozy notes of cognac. Nothing is more centering than a meticulously blended gourmand, at least for me. I felt the euphoric pleasure of smelling something familiar yet wrapped in a new texture.

The refreshing opening of sweet mandarin feels juicy and invigorating, with the opulent vanilla peeking through from the heart. It makes me think of holidays and the caramelized tartness of the citrus peel jam with a drop of rum in it. Why do so many of us enjoy gourmand fragrances? Perhaps it is the comforting and seductive taste of sugar we can’t get enough of and are wired to seek.

M. Micallef Note Vanillée Nectar is like a sip of the delicious cocktail made with dark aromatic spirits. If you have tried and like the Sidecar cocktail, you should meet its lesser-known cousin, Between the Sheets, which starts as a Sidecar but diverges with a measure of light rum and skips the customary sugared rim. This two-spirit base lends complexity, merging the rich oak and fruit notes of cognac with the dry and tropical notes of rum. The cocktail’s potency lent it its provocative name. The fragrance is a bold and flavorful blend, a celebratory libation of the senses which will be hard to resist.

The rich scent enveloped me as soon as it touched my skin, but the real bone-thawing experience came when the heart of jasmine opened up the gates to all its boozy, dark, and sensual facets with the help of rum and cognac. I felt my limbs grow heavier as the scent filled my lungs, melting into its powdery decadence and richness. The creamy warm sandalwood is enhanced by all the intoxicating glory of the bourbon vanilla and golden amber. The new incarnation of the fragrance possesses more attitude and projection. Its woody character bends your senses to its will. I imagine the dark, moody library setting in an old house with many stories and secrets between its walls, a whiff of a wood-burning fireplace coming from the other room, and the anticipation of sitting in a comfortable leather chair with a good book in hand.

The gold color of the M. Micallef Note Vanillée Nectar cap, the gilded, embossed stem and the decorative jewels set into the bottle further enhance the lavishness of the perfume. A more concentrated and nectarous version of the original, this vanilla comes with a much heavier dosage of sass and seduction. Do yourself a favor, pick this one up, pour yourself a cocktail, and dive into the ancient stories of love, adventure, and treasure.

Notes: Mandarin Orange, Citruses; Jasmine; Rum, Cognac, Sandalwood, Vanilla, Amber.

The bottle was kindly gifted to me but opinions are always my own.

Vanillée Nectar seems pretty interesting, since I am a huge vanilla lover in fragrances. I think I would totally use it on special events and on nights where I feel the star. I love that it also has boozy accords of cognac and that It really stands out from other vanilla based fragrances.

I like the comparison of the scent to the feeling of curling up in a library with a book. I am also intrigued by how the orange and jasmine notes will interplay with the vanilla and boozy notes. I have never tried a fragrance from this brand before, but I would love to try one.

  • As if the rum, cognac, and vanilla didn’t have me salivating already, Olya just had to mention that Note Vanilee comes with a heavy extra dose of sass and seduction. I’m so in. This sounds like it could be a top from the M. Micallef. I’ve only tried DesirToxic, which is gorgeous but at the other end of the spectrum from this I’m sure. Reading from NC, USA.

    M. Micallef brand has always been able to present its fragrances in exquisitely decorated bottles. I really love their vanilla perfumes and my favorite is Vanille Patchouli from Collection Vanille. Most of all, from Olga’s description, I liked how she described the combination of boozy notes with vanilla and jasmine. Sounds very cozy and warming.

  • Wow, this truly sounds like a nectar of seduction, voluptuousness and fascination, a real weapon of the senses! Note Vanillée Nectar seems to be a gourmand, a boozy fragrance and a precious woody-ambery concoction, all at once. And still, it managed to stay supple, smooth and easy.
My favorite perfume from the house has to be Black.

Olya this was so well said!
Rum, Cognac and Sandalwood? Sounds like my kind of fragrance! I can only imagine how sexy this is on skin. An intimate scent bubble that’s almost intoxicating. I live in the south (USA) and think this would be a great evening scent for 3 out of the 4 seasons.

My favorite fragrance from the house is DesirToxic, not to mention that beautiful bottle.

  • Honestly, reading this made me thirsty for something citrusy! These notes sound perfect to me and I can understand why it’s a cult classic! I love all types of vanilla fragrances so Note Vanillee is my favorite so far. I would love to try Note Vanillee Nectar. It is something I would want to wear on a summer’s evening.

Thanks for the giveaway. I’m in the USA.

  • dora_leigh says:

I am not typically a gourmand or vanilla lover, but I am always on the hunt for the perfect dark moody lush vanilla — and this description sounds spot on! The booziness/powderiness, plus the hit of jasmine sounds irresistible. I have not yet tried anything from the brand (although long admired its beautiful bottles) but would love to start with this one. Oh, and I love a Sidecar — need to try a Between the Sheets! I live in NYC, USA.

  • I have enjoyed cognac type perfumes offered by Tom Ford and liked them for their richness and elegance. I have not tried anything by this brand so don’t have any favorites, yet. But Olya Bar’s review of M. Micallef Note Vanillée Nectar describes a lovely, seductive perfume that I would love to try. While I am not a big fan of strictly gourmand perfumes, this one seems different and comforting. Love the bottle design too. Thanks for the review and draw. From continental United States.

  • minteacup says:

Now and then I’ll smell some nice cognac straight out of the bottle and think it smells as good as any perfume. I’d like to try more fragrances that incorporate “boozy” notes like that. M. Micallef Note Vanillée Nectar sounds like it would be a very welcoming introduction to the brand. I’m in the USA, thank you for the draw!

  • Trinity33 says:

Boozy vanillas are always a welcome addition to my collection. I own Spiriteuse Double Vanilla and Vanille Havane. Unfortunately I’ve never tried the OG M Micallef Note Vanillée but the Vanillée Nectar sounds intoxicating with its citrus opening and rum and cognac blend. I haven’t tried anything by this house yet. MD, USA.

Boozy vanille is one of my fave type of scents. Manifesting this so hard. Im From EU

  • Half-Pint says:

Wow! Olya really knows how to make you want a fragrance. Every time I read one of her pieces, my mouth starts watering, especially when there are vanillas and boozy notes involved. This is no exception, it sounds absolutely stunning. I have not tried many of M. Micallef’s scents yet, but am quite familiar with Royal Muska, a gorgeous and regal amalgamation of rose, woods, and the cleanest yet totally enveloping musks. The house has talent behind it, that is for sure. I would love ot try this one. I’m from VA, USA.

  • lovelisaxx says:

I’m a sucker for boozy perfumes and the vanilla and booze in this one seems so enchanting! I have not tried this house yet and would absolutely love to. I’m in SC, USA.

  • ElenaChiss says:

I don’t have much experience with this house, but just looking at the notes of this one and I am already very curious on how all of them should blend together. It has an interesting list ingredients and I feel that it will be a personal love of mine if I ever get my nose on it.
    Thanks!

  • southirina says:

I love Micallef Mon Parfum. It brings so much pleasure to me when I sniff it, I only have 2 ml so most of the times I just sniff it.
Note Vanillée Nectar is on my wishlist now, because ‘the creamy warm sandalwood is enhanced by all the intoxicating glory of the bourbon vanilla and golden amber.’
    Hugs from Eu

  • The Vanilla and boozy notes in this fragrance sounds very warm and holiday like, like Olya mentions. This may be one of the first few fragrances with citrus, vanilla, cognac, and sandalwood that I’ve heard about. One of my favorite combinations fragrance wise is woody citrus, so I’m excited to see what this may smell like. Haven’t had another fragrance from them, but based on the notes this fragrance may be a contender. From TX, USA.

  • Hey, juicy mandarin, boozy notes, creamy sandalwood and vanilla! I mean, what’s not to like here? I am getting a little hungry for a desert now, after reading your description of how it smells.
I vaguely remember trying a couple of Micallef perfumes years ago, I don’t remember which ones they were.
    I’m in the EU.

  • For now, I love the bottle, and everything your article promises this perfume to be.

I have recently found out about Micallef, and I would love to try Les Nectars.

  • roxhas1cat says:

Olya makes this sound amazing. Looks like the best part is that Jasmine. That jewel does show ‘lavish”. I don’t have much experience with the brand, but I did like Guiaic. Thanks for the chance. USA.

  • Haven’t smelled this scent yet but it’ll fit uniquely in my collection. The boozy gourmand description sounds amazing! I also love the bottle!

Beautiful review of Note Vanillee Nectar! This sounds like an amazing, cozy fragrance for the colder months. I’d love to get my nose on it. My current favorite from this house is Glamour. I’m from the USA.

  • When Olya described Vanillée Nectar as a combination of vanilla and boozy notes of cognac, I didn’t expect the additional mandarin note, or the intriguing jasmine heart. This blend sounds delicious and warming. Plus the presentation is beautiful—I love that bold gold cap.
Also, now I need to pick up some good rum and try shaking up a Between the Sheets; Sidecars are a personal favorite. Thanks for the fun review.

I’m in the USA. I haven’t tried any M. Micallef Parfums and would love to try this one. Thanks!

Vanillée Nectar is refined and elegant woody and spicy-boozy gourmand , with zesty opening , opulent vanilla, and a few cocktails in the base.
Bottle is awesome, I especially like the color scheme.
I was aware of M.Micallef , but they are actually such an established company.
Delice i have smelled multiple times during the years, my business partner signature scent.
    Exciting giveaway, USA

  • Delicious review 🙂
Olya Bar take on M. Micallef Note Vanillée Nectar made me think of making rich and buttery
Caramel Pecan Cake , with Rum buttercream , Rum soaked fruits , and Caramel filling with Hennessy buttercream frosting , Pastry Chef in the house.
Desir Toxic i bought because of Gail Gross review on Cafleurebon, to my surprise it’s way sweeter compared to how Gail described it. It reminds me of Vanilla Cassis Cake .
My girlfriend also owns Mon Parfum Cristal. What a gorgeous scent, but I think it’s marketed a bit wrong. Yes it’s gourmand, but in 2023 it should be unisex in my opinion. I can pull it off without any issues, and I do . My girlfriend says it smells really sexy , and alluring on me.
Appreciate the review , and giveaway campaign.

  • Regis Monkton says:

I’ve heard a lot of praise about this company but I haven’t tried anything yet from them, and that is a reason why I’m interested to try this fragrance. Also, I’m interested in trying this fragrance because it seems like it is a stronger performing fragrance than the first version of it. I’d like to see what the jasmine is like in combination with the rum and cognac, and I’d like to see what the “creamy warm sandalwood” is like in combination with the bourbon vanilla and golden amber. I live in the U.S.A.

  • foreverscents says:

I love the image of a dark and moody library with many secrets between the walls. I have only recently become fond of gourmand fragrances. I love that this one has a mandarin orange note. I have never heard of the Between the Sheets cocktail. It sounds potent in a good way.
I haven’t tried any fragrance from M. Micallef Parfums.
    I live in the USA.

  • Booze and vanilla is an interesting combo that sounds great! Ylang in Gold Watch is one I’ve smelled before and it’s great. I’m in California

  • M. Micallef Note Vanillée Nectar is such a refined high-class gourmand fragrance . Boozy , sweet and playful , it’s also quite complex, something I really like. Little black dress, high heels seductive potion in a bottle.
Sampled a few Micallef fragrances during the years, and most pleasing was Aoud Gourmet. First I did 50/50 split with my sister in law , and then I bought my own bottle.
    Thanks for the draw

Thanks for the nice review Olya.

Boozy vanillic fragrances can easily be overpowering and I love the addition of Mandarine ORange and Jasmine to life the fragrance and breathe some airiness into it.

I unfortunately have not smelt anything from this house.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • M.Micallef Vanillée Nectar strikes me as a beautiful boozy, intoxicating and sensual gourmand. Rum and cognac with vanilla bourbon, sandalwood. The notes and description sounds like a journey that takes us on an epic olfactory adventure! Thanks for such a great giveaway. I live in USA.

I’m familiar with not all , but most M. Micallef fragrances , excluding Note Vanillée Nectar and the new hyped one called RedColorado . I do know the original Note Vanillée through, I even had a bottle years back , when the bottle was still more square shaped.
I’m a strict teetotaller, but I absolutely love boozy fragrances, Note Vanillée Nectar I’ll most certainly enjoy, boozy , sweet, citrus peel jam , with tropical elements, epicurean fragrance at its finest.

“Editor’s Note: Every M. Micallef Parfums fragrance is beautifully packaged in their signature gift wrap and ribbon.”

Indeed , I’m literally holding my just received Edenfalls box i bought directly from M.Micallef website , and the presentation , and the whole packaging is as beautiful as ever.
If someone from M.Micallef is reading this, on the box paper it says “Parfums M. MICALLEF , 133 Chemin De Saint Marco, 06130 Grasse France” , i presume the brand’s headquarters.
Other than Edenfalls, still unopened , in its original packaging like the picture in the article , from M.Micallef i also own personalized bottle of Delice , Aoud Gourmet , Vanille Aoud , and Avant-Garde .

  • Hello Olya, my online party, and liquor lover soulmate 🙂
Sidecar cocktail vs Between the Sheets ?
Simply a variation on the Sidecar, the Between the Sheets just tinkers with the flavor by swapping out part of the base spirit for the brighter character of light rum. The taste is still Sidecar-ish, but there’s a little rummy extra in the mix.For best results, use a more full-flavored light rum such as that from Flor de Cana or Banks 5 Island. How I make it:

    3/4 ounce cognac
3/4 ounce light rum (or aged rum if you prefer)
    3/4 ounce Cointreau
    1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
I wonder how olfactive image of Sidecar cocktail
smells ? I’m so thrilled, and some fireplace vibes on top of all…..
As for M.Micallef my husband , and I share Desire Toxic
It will be a dream to win a bottle of Note Vanillée Nectar
    Thank you for the opportunity

What strikes me about M. Micallef Note Vanillée Nectar based on Olya’s review is that it’s a boozy and vanillic gourmand that has both cognac and rum with a sweet and juicy mandarin opening. I love ambery, vanillic, boozy, and gourmand fragrances. I think what Olya says is true why so many people love gourmand fragrances is the cozy and comforting way they make us feel. My favorite fragrance from Parfums Micallef is DesirToxic. I am from Ohio, USA.
