Kinetic Perfumes Barcelona Aura, is a creation that emerges from the skilled hands of Chris Maurice, the perfumer celebrated for his artistry in many fine fragrances brands including Xerjoff, Nishane, Astrophil & Stella, Azman, Sarah Baker, Nobile 1942, Manos Gerakinis (and so many more). This olfactory tale unfolds in a realm where fruits wield a wicked charm, and temptation whispers through the air like a secret melody.

Imagine approaching a garden, not one rooted in antiquity but a living tableau that stretches beyond time’s constraints. The scent of Kinetic Perfumes Aura heralds your arrival, a dynamic blend of fruits that tantalize without succumbing to clichéd allure. Pineapple, passion fruit, and raspberry dance in harmony, weaving an intricate tapestry of fragrance that defies the ordinary. Maurice, in his exploration of forbidden allure, introduces a layer of complexity with a caramel gourmand depth. It’s not the clichéd sweetness but a nuanced indulgence that lingers beneath the surface—a subtle temptation that beckons without overt seduction. As the fragrance evolves, jasmine sambac takes centre stage, its delicate petals unfurling like an intricate dance. This is not a predictable floral note but an ethereal presence that adds a touch of elegance to the composition. Maurice’s craftsmanship shines, seamlessly integrating the floral with the fruity, creating a symphony of scents that resonates with authenticity.

Yet, just as the story wouldn’t be complete without shadows, Kinetic Perfume Aura reveals its darker undertones in the base notes. Oakmoss emerges, not as a mere accessory but as a mysterious force that adds depth and intrigue. The juxtaposition of light and shadow within the fragrance mirrors the complexities of human desire and the perennial dance between innocence and temptation. Aura, in Maurice’s hands, becomes a narrative tailored for a younger audience, not in a stereotypical pursuit of youthfulness but as an exploration of vibrant curiosity. It’s a fragrance that doesn’t dictate but invites, urging the wearer to embrace the present and revel in the complexity of the forbidden.

In the end, the tale of Kinetic Perfumes Aura unfolds into uncharted scented territories. Chris Maurice’s creation is not a retelling of the familiar tale, but an original narrative where fruits wield a wicked charm, and the allure of temptation is as complex as the human spirit. As you venture into the aromatic embrace of Aura, you step not into a garden of a new Eden, an olfactory realm where the fruits of desire are both timeless and uniquely contemporary.

Top Notes: Calabrian bergamot, Brazilian orange, grapefruit, pineapple; Middle Notes: raspberry, passion fruit from Perú, plum, lily of the valley, Indian jasmine sambac, vanilla; Base Notes: woody notes, caramel, oakmoss, amber, musk

  • Wow. I loved Chris Maurice’s work for Sarah Baker and his unique take on oud. I’d love to see what he does with a gourmand fruity floral. It would be easy to be derivative in this area but the description makes it sound like there’s definitely originality here – the fruity notes that don’t “succumb to cliche”, the “ethereal” jasmine, and the oakmoss giving it an unusual dark depth. I was particularly struck by the description of a “garden of a new Eden, an olfactory realm where the fruits of desire are both timeless and uniquely contemporary”. Sounds exciting! I’m in the UK.

  • Caramel and fruits like passion fruit that sounds hypnotizing! It really strikes me, I live in Trzebnica, Poland, EU.

The notes of this fragrance sound like something I want to put in a glass and drink! Just WOW! And he has worked for some beastly fragrance houses, so I have no doubt that this one is a gem! I’m in Pennsylvania, US.

  • “Light and shadow”… “Exploration of vibrant curiosity”… Thank you, Karl, for such an indepth article. I am not often won over by the fruitiness so popular to a younger crowd, but your article has convinced me that Aura is a scent of far more complexity and intrigue than I might have guessed! I would absolutely love to try this. Thank you for this generous draw. I live in NH, USA.

  • Pineapple… How I love pineapple! Both the taste and the smell!
What strikes me about Aura based on Karls’s review is how Maurice’s craftsmanship shines, seamlessly integrating the floral with the fruity, creating a symphony of scents that resonates with authenticity.
    Sounds simply perfect!

Chris Maurice pedigree and standing just adds intrifue and depth I am really fascinated by the base notes of amber, musk, woody notes, caramel and oakmoss. Thanks a lot from the UK

  • Great review! Aura, envisioned by the skilled hands of Chris Maurice, captivates with its dynamic blend of fruits, revealing an original narrative where temptation’s allure is as complex as the human spirit and this is absolutely intriguing. I like how Maurice’s artistry shines in seamlessly integrating fruity and floral notes, creating a symphony of scents that invites exploration and revelry in the forbidden, making Aura absolutely beautiful fragrance.

  • Aura sounds like the perfect, absolute floral-fruity concoction. Feminine and playful, sweet but not overpowering, bright but with some depth. The caramel and berries sound absolutely delicious, but what caught my attention the most is the jasmine and oakmoss. Youthful and grown up at the same time.

Fascinating description dear Karl, A new Eden, how we can all imagine ourselves transported there. A Utopian sejourn, just for these few moments of reading. The juxtaposition you describe has me very interested. I live in The EU

  • Vasiliki Kouleri says:

Gourmand perfumes can often (to my nose) come across as heavy-handed and stifling, whereas fruity-florals as juvenile and shampoo-like. I do love both categories in theory, but finding something that is wearable in real life has proved quite a bit of a struggle. I believe that 1270 by Frapin and Methexis by Manos Gerakinis have nailed this delicate balance, but they evoke a strictly autumnal landscape. I have been hoping to find something with the same level of nuance and refinement for the warmer months. All to often I find myself with a boozy pina colada or an artificial fruit salad. Karl’s description stroke a chord with me when he spoke of “vibrant curiosity”, because he captured what perfumary is to me, a clueless layman: I yearn to explore different times, places and feelings through scent. I love fragrances that take me by the hand and lead me to a journey. Could Aura be the one? Quizas, quizas, quizas…I sure hope so and hope to discover it at some point. Greetings from Greece!

  • Fruity and gourmand scent, it’s interesting.
kinda simple bottle but i like it.
I would love to try this out + it has been created by Chris maurice !

Oh my, what a luscious offering from Kinetic Perfumes! Thank you Karl for showcasing it, and so wonderfully. I was definitely stopped in my tracks by the fantastic, delicious color and the sleek shape of the flacon. Then I was disarmed by the story of the notes. What appeals to me the most is that the gourmand aspect is “not the clichéd sweetness but a nuanced indulgence that lingers beneath the surface—a subtle temptation that beckons without overt seduction.” I also love the idea of jasmine adding a touch of elegance rather than just its sweet floralcy. The woods and oakmoss in the base make Aura ever more so desirable to me. “A fragrance that doesn’t dictate but invites” – sounds like a dream for a perfume lover with imagination. Thank you from the EU.

  • I really like the bottle and the notes seem pretty too. I enjoy a lot of fragrances that Chris Maurice has done for Xerjoff, so I am sure that his olfactive abilities will be present in this Kinetic creation as well.

  • Whoever says ethereal call me. Also, what a beautiful evocative packaging. Simple yet juicy, what a beautiful color! If that’s a fruity green fragrance, it seems pretty good to me then. I am located in EU.

The way you people over at CaFleureBon write never ceases to amaze me, simply AMAZING! On the fragrance, which sounds amazing as well. Chris Maurice is one of my favourite perfumers, so it’s par for the course for him to create a masterpiece. But perfume is subjective, and one can not expect it to be as marvelous on one’s own skin as it is on another’s, so hopefully I can try it out. Thanks a million for doing these giveaways!

Thanks for the fun review Karl.

This fragrance sounds interesting because it sounds like a touch from so many different notes that move in and out, from a mix of interesting citruses, to the florals and the heavier oakmoss base. I think what is interesting is that all the top and middle notes have the tendency to make this a fresher/warm weather fragrance and it’s cool to see a darker take on it.

    Hello from UK
The weather is so bad lately, damp cold and windy and judging by Karl Topham stirring article I believe there’s a sense of different season coming from Kinetic Parfums Aura , mostly late Spring and Summer .
Gourmand depth with different fruits and caramel, elegant jasmine and darker undertones are swirled masterfully by Chris Maurice in a trendy but original fragrance that is Aura.

What interests me about Aura based on Karl’s review is learning about this sweet and fruity creation from the legendary Chris Maurice that has a beautiful sweet Vanillic and Caramel drydown that’s infused with a bold and earthy Oakmoss. I would lovw to try this. I am from the USA.

  • Wow, Aura seems very enticing! Especially the description of the jasmine sambac – I am a big jasmine fan and I am curious about it being next to pineapple and passionfruit.
