When we are born, we can barely see, just shadows and shapes… we can’t hear and we cry into what seems like an abyss… but we can smell. Specifically, the scent of our mother as she holds us; her ‘musk” is the comforting odor that welcomes us to this world. Musk, although often thought of as a supporting ingredient, is much more complex… and has many tonalities. For nearly two years during this pandemic, what we miss most is real-life interaction, the feeling of being hugged from others (a kiss from a lover, long-missed parents, relatives, kids). Our musk, is what makes us human. –Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief
We began this project eight months ago, and there was another genre discussed… but Michelyn “told” me. MAKE IT MUSK. (Yes Boss). And she was right. I will always remember when I started this perfume adventure, and let’s be honest, but how many times you too, at least in the early days… have faced a salesperson in a perfume store, looking at you with a twinkle in the eye saying: this is a fantastic perfume it is soooo musky. And I, and you too! replying ho yesss while wondering what the hell is musk anyway!? So here we are today, Michelyn Camen along with the CaFleureBon family selected 14 beauties, very unique, chosen by the team, delivering not only as many facets of musk … but also something very personal. Thank you CaFleureBon and to all, I hope you will all enjoy as much as we did in this collaboration. This is why I decided to offer free delivery to anywhere Jovoy Paris ships. In the Make it Musk Jovoy Paris x CaFleureBon “box” you will receive 14 x 2ml at 75 €. This is a project of passion. Enjoy-Francois Henin, Founder and Owner of Jovoy Paris Parfums Rares

Atelier Materi Bois d’Ambrette (Marie Hugentobler): This is for me, the most beautiful vegetal musk fragrance. The ambrette seeds are highlighted in such a creative and thoughtful that they become the stars of this ‘must have’ creation! -Cristian Marianciuc, Senior Contributor
Atelier Des Ors Musc Immortel (Marie Salamagne): This interpretation of musk is as timeless, as it is intoxicating. Iris bring out the haylike smoky quality of immortelle, with just a glint of golden amber. Musk, slightly animalic and boozy. Musk as the elixir of the gods and goddesses-Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief
Bon Parfumeur 903 (Serge de Oliveira): Behind the pepper / saffron / oud triptych unveiled on the bottle label, Bon Parfumeur 903 hides an unmistakable ingredient: Tonkin musk. It brings a well-controlled animal sensuality that raises the temperature crescendo, amid spices (coriander, saffron) and woody notes (cashmeran, patchouli, sandalwood, oud) energized by a grapefruit facet that enhances “the berries of Nepal” (also called Timut pepper). As close to nature as this my urban spirit can go without leaving my home in Paris. –Emmanuelle Varron, Sr. Contributor
Jeroboam Parfums Boha (Vanina Muracciole): a white flower-centered potion that is both universally beautiful and intricately deep, a virtuoso musk alchemist, weaved her magic and made the flower bouquet bloom in surprising and multidimensional ways, adding enveloping amber accords, and framing the base with oakmoss and sandalwood-Nicoleta Tomsa, Sr. Editor
Jovoy Paris Liturgie des Heures (Jacques Flori): An evocative, coniferous incense that evokes the ancient stone and surrounding forest of a 14th century monastery, Liturgie des Heures is one of my favourites of the Jovoy line. Robertet perfumer Jacques Flori uses a furry, soapy musk in the base to hint at damp stone and to add a touch of lightness to the composition-Lauryn Beer, Senior Editor
Jul Et Mad Stairway to Heaven (Cecile Zarokian): A luminous “second skin” composition by built around eight different types of white musk, a fruity opening of sweet orange, and a sensual heart of orris butter wrapped around Bulgarian rose. Pure and immaculate, warm and enveloping, Stairway to Heaven is astonishingly addictive and well-balanced, it’s unobtrusive yet sweetly all-pervading. –Olya Bar, Contributor
Christian Provenzano Musc Poudré: Christian Provenzano is a master of creating texture in scent. In this example, powdery musk dances with ambered woods under a canopy of raspberry glacé. The result has a delicious rhythm. –Clayton Ilolahia, Contributor
Parfum d’Empire Musc Tonkin (Marc-Antoine Corticchiato): I have yet to encounter a musk fragrance that is as sensual and potent as Musc Tonkin composed by the Alchemist of perfumery Marc-Antoine Cortichiatto. I am not the only one who thinks this is one of the best musk perfumes created, because ten of my colleagues chose it as their favorite. They grumbled; I pulled rank. Empress Josephine Bonaparte loved musk everywhere and on everything and Napoleon loved the scent of her musky skin. In a message from one of his many campaigns he is said to have written “Returning to Paris in three days, don’t bathe!” I could list notes… but I won’t. It is skin, it is skank, Musc Tonkin is the King and Queen of Musk perfumes. The MUSK Masterpiece. Michelyn Camen, Editor in-Chief

Rania J. Musc Moschus (Rania Jouaneh): a carnal adventure, an ensemble piece in which every player matters. A bracing spark of bergamot segues to juicy, tart, edible cassis, garnished with a buttery, earthy iris – entwined in the slightly smoky embrace of vanilla and sandalwood. The deeply-singed, caramelised vanilla is both gourmand and sophisticated; it lands upon a tenderly musky featherbed. Fruit, flower, wood, resin, musk: Musc Moschus is an olfactory quintet. -Ida Meister, Deputy Editor and Natural Perfumer
Roberto Greco Porter Sa Peau – L’Objet Parfumant (Rodrigo Flores-Roux): Slightly animalic, salty/sweet musks evoke the multifaceted glory of human skin in this narcissus-centered, hypnotically atmospheric fragrance. Suppleness and warmth, comfort and eroticism… the skin’s various textures and sensations emerging from a cloud of hazy, carnal muskiness. Despina Veneti, Senior Editor
Roja Dove Parfums Musk Aoud (Roja Dove): Musk Aoud reflects the excellence and resilience of modern perfumery. Master perfumer Roja Dove uses the animalic ingredient of musk beautifully as he pays homage to perfumery of ancient times while also gracing the unforgettable blend with his modern flair. -Steven Gavrielatos, Video Editor
Sylvaine Delacourte Paris Smeraldo (Perfumer Irene Farmachidi): Smeraldo immerses you in a refreshing, soft, green dream. Streams of lime, yuzu, angelica and vetiver sunlight filter through the verdant green leaves of a calm, tranquil forest to the lush moss and fern forest floor. It then sprinkles a puff of the softest, most pillowy musk into this sparkling forest air, like a dusting of powdered sugar sprinkled by fairies, creating an uplifting, comforting cocoon of serene sensuality that is a sheer pleasure to wear. –Cynthia Hunter, Sr. Contributor
The Different Company Pure Eve (Celina Ellena) well embodies the purest side of musk. Originally an animalic note, musk evolved to cruelty free, white (clean) synthetics most, keeping its powderiness. Pure Eve interestingly indulges in this soothing quality, dressing any possible laundry reference in mouthwatering floralcy. Rolling in powdery mimosa, boozy rhum and candied fruits can make for a fun night after all.- Ermano Picco, Editor
Tiziana Terenzi Dionisio (Paolo Terenzi): Top notes of ambergris and musk blend wonderfully with the florals and sensual Tahitian vanilla heart notes which leads to an energetic musky finish. Paolo Terenzi’s masterpiece has longevity for miles and miles.-Hernando Courtright, Sr. Contributor
