When Francois Henin of Jovoy Paris suggested that the team at ÇaFleureBon choose a favorite perfume to celebrate our 13th anniversary on March 22, 2023, we all exclaimed just ONE? After years of smelling thousands of fragrances, each of us had to make a difficult decision. My only request of the editors was that every one of our selections were genderless, spoke to us, and told stories on our skin. We give you our JOVOY Paris X ÇaFleureBon 13th Anniversary Box, fourteen olfactive gems, treasures to discover and to enjoy. –Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

This is the second time (Make it Musk in 2021) we have challenged the ÇaFleureBon team to pick just one perfume out of so many, and we’re still smiling at the thought of all the editors who were scratching their heads thinking, “OMG, how can I only pick one? “A big thank you to the team and Happy 13th Anniversary, a lucky number. and we hope you enjoy discovering their choices.” – François Henin  President and Founder of Jovoy Paris and Jeroboam.

Scent of Woods Pain et Chataigner When one thinks of bread, A staple food in many countries across the world, one thinks of comforting warmth, family gatherings, belly filling suppers and serenity. Composed by Meabh McCurtin is a savory slightly gourmand composition, evoking dear childhood memories of watching my grandmother bake bread every weekend, her hands covered in flour and a soft savory aroma of bread in the air. For me, this is a fragrance unlike any other, it feels personal and centering, a gift of time, standing still, forever to be savored. –Olya Bar, Editor.

Perfumer Marc Corticchiato changed my mind completely about leather as a dominant note in perfumery. Before I came across Parfum d’Empire Cuir Ottoman,I thought of leather fragrances as the kind of rough-hewn, hide-and-woods colognes, the kind of butch splash-ons advertised by cowboys and football players. With its plush animalism and chilly florals, Cuir Ottoman made me a leather – and Parfum D’Empire – lover for life.  For me, this perfume set the standard for modern floral leathers. –Lauryn Beer, Senior Editor

Two of my favorite people in perfume land are the talented Cecile Zarokian and Francois Henin aka “The Ambassador of Rare Perfumes” for Jovoy Paris. When these two joined forces, the result is the pure magic of Jovoy Paris Remember Me. The fragrance was inspired by their trip to Qatar but tells a different personal tale. There is a Russian Proverb, “Where there is tea there is hope.” Escaping the Soviet Union, my paternal grandfather was able to take his father’s Samovar with him to Ellis Island, before settling in Brooklyn N.Y. Closing my eyes, I see him preparing the blend of whole leaf tea and boiling water, as his ancestors had done before him. My grandfather made the tea very strong, so he would hand me a cup that had been prepared with condensed milk, sweet, with a sprinkling of cinnamon. The window was open and I could smell heady flowers from the yard mingling with creamy tea. Memories. Remember me. –Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

How fabulous is Paolo Terenzi’s Tiziana Terenzi’s Casanova? Mesmerizingly so. This romantic beauty transports you back to Venice to at the Masked Ball. The dry spicy opening and powdery note lead to a light leather that slides right up on you. The sensuality of the warm spices, musk, and cedarwood is stunning. No beast here, the silage is smooth as a skilled lover. Produced in a small handcrafted batch every year with each flacon marked with the year of production, like vintage wine. Such a compliment-getter. –Hernando Courtright, Sr. Event Contributor and Brand Ambassador

Chris Maurice’s Xerjoff Alexandria II’s spicy blend of lavender, amber, cinnamon, lily of the valley and Oud steam is as polished and refined as the individual who would wear it. This stately (but approachable) composition is the Polaris among the bright stars of Xerjoff’s offerings. –Michael Devine, Senior Contributor

Sora Dora Gladiator is a top choice for me because it is a celebratory fragrance with notes of grapefruit, green apple, and pineapple. The mood enhancing properties of mint will instantly raise your spirits, and a dry down of Indonesian patchouli and Tahitian vetiver is earthy and long lasting. This versatile and jubilant composition is exactly what I need to get the day started on the right foot! –Steven Gavrielatos, Video Content Contributor (Perfumers: Amelie Bourgeois, Anne-Sophie Behaghel, and Camille Chemardin).

Micallef Note Vanillee composed by Geoffrey Nejman and Jean-Claude Astier is a silky, soft, warm vanilla soaked in a rum embrace, followed by the most staggering ambered vanilla with an exquisite occasional waft of jasmine. The warmth on my skin allows the ambery rum-soaked vanilla to take center stage with only a quick peek-a-boo appearance of the Citrus and Jasmine-Sandi Lundberg, Associate Contributor

Cherigan Fleurs de Tabac was initially intended for men – but it possesses a much wider appeal, due to its sublimely smoky, leathery evocation of tobacco without the actual presence of tobacco itself. Its combination of vanillic elements with vetiver creates the trompe-nez which seduces us with fluid sensuous ambiguity – emanating Parisian chic at every turn. –Ida Meister, Deputy and Natural Perfume Editor

MDCI Parfums Chypre Palatin by Bertrand Duchaufour is one of the most exquisite embodiments of chiaroscuro, which is the true spirit of classic chypres. The light of sparkling clementine slices through a forest where potherbs and roots fill the air in emerald dewdrops. The sweetest blooms, crisp hyacinth, gardenia, and fruity rose dipped in plum liqueur mingle with the wild saltiness of immortelle and oakmoss. MDCI Chypre Palatin is a chatoyant gemstone. –Ermano Picco, Editor

Etat Libre D’Orange Frustration by Mathilde Bijaoui is a complex gourmand with a delicious dark soul and a cozy scrumptious heart. Vanilla is the main player, surrounded by warm spices, resinous depths, and the decadently luxurious silk texture of an expert-level rum–infused chestnut puree dessert. Sweet and comforting, Frustration feels like a warm, enveloping hug, held in the most beautiful red bottle, with a puff of smoky darkness for a bit of danger and the wink of cumin to keep things sensuously subversive. –Nicoleta Tomsa, Senior Editor

Plume Impression Murmure d’Ete composed by Quentin Bisch is effusive and invigorating but at the same time comforting. This scent feels like a pristine cloud surrounding me. There is an amalgamation of fresh green tones and fruits dancing with the softest woods and an airy sugariness which is simply delicious. Balanced to perfection, cypress and davana add the slightly verdant vegetal sparkle whilst the fig nectar is lush but at the same time light. Cedar grounds the composition and tonka with sandalwood makes one melt in this radiant luminous scent. –Karl Topham, Senior Editor and U.K. Brand Ambassador

Tuberose is my signature-flower and with Visiteur Cabaret Nocturne, Cecile Zarokian gives it the spotlight. Spices crackle on my skin, accompanied by a note of gin which adds a fresh and aromatic touch. Sandalwood and tobacco cool down this olfactory heat and prolong the pleasure for many hours. Provocative… Flamboyant… Sexy…-Emmanuelle Varron, Senior Editor and Paris Brand Ambassador

Histoires de Parfums Fidelis is a true scented symphony that immediately transports me back to Dubai where traditional Arabic culture weaves its way throughout a global society. Fidelis is no ordinary rose/oud scent. Its bold blend of coffee and saffron, resonate with the jammy rose along with amber and oud in such a harmonious manner it will never be mistaken for another. Fidelis is proof of perfumer Julien Rasquinet’s virtuosity and one that I will never be without. –Rachel Watson, Senior Contributor

Let me tell you how much I love Strangelove NYC’s LostInFlowers: it was the ONLY perfume I chose to take with me to the Milan Esxence perfume expo in 2018. Surrounded by thousands of bottles of fine fragrance, Perfume Provocateur Christophe Laudamiel’s extraordinary tribute to white florals garnered me so many compliments I stopped counting. One spray of it surrounds you in a “heaven-scent” mist of gardenia, champaca, and lily of the valley. Combining with the dusty straw-like element of marigold and the slightest skank and depth of oud, LostinFlowers is an unforgettable and head-spinning magic carpet ride through a heavily-scented boudoir. Dazzling, hypnotic, and sexy as hell, LostinFlowers is the sin qua non of white floral perfumes. –RIP Robert Herrmann, Sr. Editor (who passed on October 1, 2019).

What an incredible selection of fragrances! I have Chypre Palatin and love how it reminds me of these dried plums I used to have as a child, but I have not tried any of the others. This box will have a lot for me to discover. New Jersey, USA

  • This selection is amazing — I’ve had my eye out for secondhand samples of Note Vanilee and Alexandria II, but with the tantalizing descriptions of the rest of this year’s choices, I will be on the lookout for many more. EldO’s Frustration sounds particularly up my alley…and I love the name! Hello from the US!

  • These selections reflect an impressive breadth of styles, sensitivities and moods in fragrance. I would be absolutely thrilled for the chance to sample them! Thank you to all the editors for such thoughtful selections and descriptions, and to Jovoy Paris for this generous draw! I live in NH, USA.

  • Very nice selection! I have not tried any from them, so this will be a nice if I were to win. Thank you

  • I love this selection. I have only tried Xerjoff Alexandria II, and like it a lot. Ones I would especially love to try are Histoires de Parfums Fidelis and Strangelove’s lostinflowers (because of the oud), and Fleurs de Tabac. Rest I would love to try as they have been especially chosen by esteemed Cafleurebon editors. Congratulations to Cafleurebon on their 13th anniversary. Thanks for the draw and the review in this list of collectible perfumes. From continental United States.

And oh-my-God what a selection! This is paradise! Some I’ve tried and looooove (Micallef Note Vanilee, Etat Libre D’Orange Frustration, Visiteur Cabaret Nocturne) and some are on my wishlist for quite a while now (Histoires de Parfums Fidelis, Cherigan Fleurs de Tabac, Xerjoff Alexandria II, Tiziano Terenzi’s Casanova). This would be an amazing opportunity to try them all!
    Hugs from Croatia, EU

  • This is an amazing collection and I’ve only tried 2 in the list (Xerjoff Alexandria II (I still prefer Naxos and More than Words from Xerjoff) as well as MDCI Chypre Palatin (which I was and still am smitten by)). I’d love to try all the rest and have Lostinflowers high up in my long list 🙂 I’m in USA

  • My first thought? Trust. I know these are all amazing in their own way and I love the variety!! I’ve only a couple in here (Remember Me being a fav one) so this would be me in a heavenly buffet just savoring the dew of life!! I would be incredibly grateful to win this box! What a collection of masterpieces.

  • What an absolutely generous gift! I love all the selections especially as they reflect the amazing noses at Cafleurbon. California USA

  • I have tried, owned or own quite a few of those you mention, and I especially agree with the ultra elegant and modern, yet so respectful of chypre traditions, Chypre Palatin. Note Vanillée is also a completely satisfying, moreish vanilla that I love. Cuir Ottoman is lovely yet you have to like powdery scents to fully appreciate it.

  • Hi there. When I see the names MDCI, Strangelove NY, Jovoy, Xerjoff and more together with the perfumes selected, I get all warmed up. Better yet, need to experience this collection. I’m from Brussels, Belgium

  • Since I only recall experiencing Chypre Palatin, I can’t really say much about the selection. It would be nice to win this and find out more. US

I am happy and grateful to be part of this wonderful community, ever growing, evolving, sharing, and learning. The choices proposed by CaFleureBon editors are exquisite, 14 fragrances with stories that take the wearer on a journey… Awesome. Thank you from the EU

  • I feel that they are absolutely perfect selections and that they are very well matched. I live in Trzebnica, Poland, EU.

  • So many gorgeous scents in one beautiful box! A truly, fitting tribute to CafleureBon and all the knowledge it transmits to fragrance lovers everywhere. I’m in the USA.

  • So many beautiful sounding selections! The only one I’ve tried is the Micallef Vanille and the MDCI Chypre Palatin. I am over the top intrigued by the description from Hernando Courtright for Casanova. I can just picture the masked ball! But they all sound divine. Thank you for the draw and congratulations on 13 wonderful years!

  • Well, my Want To Try list just got a whole lot bigger. Except for the big white florals, these all tempt me greatly! I live in the US

  • Oh boy, such an amazing selection.

  • What a wonderful collection of scents. With Jovoy Paris Remember Me… i love the proverb… “Where there is tea there is hope.” I agree – as an Irish girl, tea makes it all ok!
I was also drawn to MDCI Parfums Chypre Palatin by your chiaroscuro reference. All those blooms are bound to smell amazing.
I’ve not tried any new scents for a few years now, so this collection would be much loved and valued! thank you for the chance.

  • I always get so excited when it comes to these selections by the whole Cafleurebon staff. It’s awesome to find both names that one knows (and loves) and fragrances that they might not even have heard about. Once again, this article doesn’t fall short and makes me wanna up my sampling game. Looking forward to the video too!

  • Such a cool idea, discovery set where you not only discover perfumes, but also the taste of cafleurebon editors. From this selection I am familiar with Remember Me Jovoy and Histoires de Parfums Fidelis, then also I’ve tested in the shop Cuir Ottoman and Chypre Palantin, but i don’t remember them from sampling just once. I am most intrigued with Visiteur Cabaret Nocturne and Strangelove NYC’s LostInFlowers.
I live in the EU, than you for wonderful opportunity to take part in your draw.

  • Patricia R. says:

An exquisite offer, it’s extremely generous of House of Jovoy. I’m also glad to hear the proverb about the tea, this is true probably in the UK where they love tea. Tea is such an amalgamator for people and problems. I’m happy to see Chypre Palatin in the selection.

  • banjarmasin says:

What a tremendous selection! I’m always happy to see Parfum D’Empire, one of my favorite brands, represented. Cuir Ottoman is the only one I’ve tried from this selection, and it’s a stunner.

What to say about Jovoy…. It is one of my favourite brands and I just love all of their perfumes…. I own Remember me which is my signature scent but i want at least 3-4 more to buy in the near future! Of course the whole selection of Jovoy Paris x CaFleureBon 13th anniversary site box is amazing!! I desperately wish to win! Love from Greece!

  • These selections reflect an impressive breadth of styles, sensitivities and moods in fragrance. I would be absolutely thrilled for the chance to sample them! Thank you to all the editors for such thoughtful selections and descriptions, and to Jovoy Paris for this generous draw! I live in the, USA.

  • Jenny Rickhuss says:

This selection sounds incredibly I love how personal each fragrance is to each editor, and there are several I have heard of but never gotten to try included here. It would be an honor to get to experience each of these alongside the description of why it was included in this selection. I’m in Houston, TX USA (also have a UK address for shipping)

  • An interesting and diverse collection from the CaFleureBon contributors. I’ve tried lostinflowers and am very interested in Mumure d’Ete and Cabaret Nocturne. What a great set! MD, USA.

  • Regis Monkton says:

I’m very fond of sampling and discovering fragrances that I haven’t tried yet. I’m definitely interested in trying the fragrances which are in this sample box: I haven’t tried any of them yet, but I’ve certainly heard of all of these companies and I’ve tried some of the fragrances made by Paolo Terenzi. All of the reviews caused me to be intrigued to try these fragrances. I’m most intrigued to try: Strangelove NYC’s LostInFlowers, Histoires de Parfums Fidelis, Plume Impression Murmure d’Ete, MDCI Parfums Chypre Palatin, Tiziano Terenzi’s Casanova, and more. I live in the U.S.A.

  • All 13 of these fragrances would be new for me, although I have read a lot of positive reviews for LostInFlowers and Remember Me. I took a break from the fragrance world after I caught COVID and lost my sense of smell for half a year. It was almost too much for me to bear to read up on the latest fragrance releases while knowing I may never be able to smell again. Fortunately things are MUCH better in my olfactory department and I feel that 2023 will be a fragrant year for me! This would be an excellent place to start my journey. While the list is quite varied (I see the words fruity, floral, green and light represented) I do see a general trend toward gourmand, musky, oud-forward and spicy fragrances, which tend to be my favorites. I am not usually the biggest fan of leather when it comes off heavy-handed, but Lauryn’s description of Cuir Ottoman does capture my interest. I could see myself or my husband enjoying each treasured vial in this magnificent and collection! Thanks for the opportunity to win.

  • Tobacco and leather and bread and rum and flowers! Oh, my! Such a varied lot of scents. A few of these have been on my list to try for a while now. (Note Vanille, Fleurs de Tabac and Remember Me)
I will definitely make a note of the rest of these names to add to my list if I don’t win!
    I’m from MO, USA.

  • The selection is delectable, I particularly want to try Parfum d’Empire Cuir Ottoman. Wow! I’m in the UK.

  • Happy anniversary and a great selection indeed. Seems like you covered a lot of basis and there is variety that will surely appeal to many. NY, USA

  • recursivemask says:

Personally I don’t feel that I have enough experience to comment on the selection! All of the fragrances seem intriguing and unique. In the US.

  • Wishing to try this magnificent selection, admiring the knowledge of the editors and how difficult it had to be to choose a single perfume, which leads me to think that there are many foundations of quality and emotion in the choice of perfume, which without doubt is a guarantee of success.

    With love from Spain, EU

  • emorandeira says:

Oh! What a great selección! I have not tried some of them but I know all and I want to try them all as well 🙂
Remember me should be a real beast While Chypre palatin is one of the Best chypres around the world. I want really yo try frustración and note vanillee as I am a vanilla lover and of course the creation by Strange LOVE NY as I have not tried any of their perfumes yet.
I am Writing from Spain (EU)

  • Yes….how can you each pick ONE!! I love that one was chosen in honor of Robert. What fun it would be to test these. The perfumers are the “who’s who” of the perfume universe. Looking forward to the video. I haven’t tested many on this list, but my favorite is Chypre Paladin. Thanks for the chance. USA.

  • Leonarda K. says:

I love how versatile the collection is! A little bit of everything for everyone’s liking. Unfortunately I haven’t tried most of these, only Alexandria, Note Vanilee, Fidelis and Frustration. LostInFlowers attracts me the most based on the description of the scent, and Michelyn made me fall in love with Remember Me with her beautiful sentimental story full of childhood memories.
    From Croatia, EU

  • Of the 13 fragrances I only tried Frustration by Etat Libre D’Orange, and I loved it despite I’m not really a fan of sweet and gourmand perfumes. The others’ notes sound intriguing: from the tea leaves in Remember me to the mandarin-vanilla accord in Note Vanillee. My dear friend love lily-of-the-valley and white flowers in general so I think she would be amazed by Lostinflowers. And fig is one of my favourite scent, so Murmure d’été would me my fragrance of choice. I’d love to try all of them. Thanks for this opportunity, I’m from Italy

  • sillage4ever says:

Well curated, the few I’ve tried have been excellent, especially Remember Me. What fun romping through these little lovelies would be!

I’m in the USA, thanks for sharing your favorites.

  • Scents of Wood Pain et Chataigner sounds like a very comforting and nostalgic fragrance. I have not tried it, but reading Olya’s description of how it reminds her of childhood memories of watching her grandmother bake bread has me intrigued.

I enjoy leather in fragrance, but I prefer it when it’s soft and well-blended with other notes. I have to admit that I have not tried Parfum d’Empire Cuir Ottoman, but I’m interested in trying it after reading Lauryn’s comments (especially since she wasn’t a leather lover before it).

I enjoyed reading Michelyn’s paragraph about why she chose Jovoy Remember Me. It sounds like it’s a very nostalgia-inducing fragrance for her. I really enjoy Remember Me; it’s one of my favorite spicy tea fragrances.

I enjoy many offerings from Tiziana Terenzi, but I’ve yet to try Casanova. Hernando’s comments about the warm spices and powdery notes definitely have me intrigued.

Although I have tried many fragrances from Xerjoff, I have not tried Alexandria II. Just like Michael says, it sounds like a refined and stately fragrance.

Sora Dora Gladiator does seem like a celebratory fragrance with its notes of citrus and mint. I can imagine it’s just as jubilant as Steven says.

I agree with Sandi’s review of Micallef Note Vanillee. The rum is beautiful in this fragrance.

I enjoy tobacco in fragrances, so I’m sure I would enjoy Cherigan Fleurs de Tabac. Ida’s description of it possessing vanillic elements has me interested.

MDCI has some stunning fragrances, so I am sure Chypre Palatin is beautiful. Ermano’s final comment about it being a chatoyant gemstone makes me want to test it even more.

Like Nicoleta, I agree that Frustration feels like a warm and enveloping hug. It’s very comforting and I can see why it’s a favorite.

I have not tried Plume Impression Murmure d’Ete, but Karl’s review makes me want to test it. Anything described as radiant and luminous, especially during spring, is something I want to try.

I enjoy tuberose just like Emmanuelle, but I’ve yet to try Visiteur Cabaret Nocturne. It sounds like a very interesting blend with the addition of gin.

Histoires de Parfums Fidelis sounds right up my alley. I love spicy rose fragrances and this one sounds beautiful. If it transports Rachel to Dubai, I definitely need to try it.

Robert made a beautiful choice with Strangelove Lost In Flowers. It is a beautiful white floral fragrance. I really enjoyed reading his description of it.

Thank you for the article and mini reviews and thank you to François Henin for the giveaway. I am located in the USA.

I loved reading about what my favorite perfume editors have chosen as their favorite fragrances. I have only tried one of them, Cuir Ottoman, which is Lauryn Beer’s favorite. I am particularly interested in trying LostInFlowers and Remember Me. I was touched by Michelyn’s memory of her grandfather.

  • It’s nice to put all the faces with the writers. Great selections and I own Jovoy remember me and edlo Frustration which are both amazing. Touched by the inclusion of Robert Herrman and strange love lost in flowers. Plume murmure and Cherigan also sound terrific. I was glad to see more less well known picks too

The selection were superb, fragrances with depth and character. I live in Greece,EU.

  • Happy anniversary! And what a great list to celebrate the occasion. I like the parameters Michelyn chose, and it’s impressive you all managed to narrow it down to one, while some of your selections were favorites due to their composition and others sparked personal memories or impacted you deeply. For example, Olya’s selection of Scent of Woods Pain et Chataigner; a savory bread-baking perfume is a surprising and nostalgic concept. Ermano’s elegaant description of MDCI Parfums Chypre Palatin also caught my attention, as did Robert Herrmann’s enthusiastic ode to LostinFlowers.

I’m in the USA. I’d love to try the 13th anniversary box and experience these selections. Thanks for the giveaway!

Thanks for the nice writeup! I’m enjoying this fine selection for the CFB 13 Anniversary.

Jovoy’s Remember Me, Strangelove NYC’s LostInFlowers and Parfum d’Empire Cuir Ottoman are ones that catch my eye. Jovoy’s Remember Me is a truly beautiful tea fragrance and the milkiness in it is one of the best that I’ve seen in that category.

Wow what a wonderful looking box! i really feel excited by your selections for the Jovoy Paris x ÇaFleureBon 13th anniversary site box particularly Parfum d’Empire Cuir Ottoman and Cherigan Fleurs de Tabac. Both take notes that are traditionally masculine in leather and in tobacco and softened with a burst of sophisticated florals that make it perfectly unisex. I love fragrances that pair the masculine and feminine in perfect harmony. I live in the contiguous US.

  • What a amazing collaboration and great of Joboy to put this together. Presentation looks fantastic. Huge fan of Steven and his choice is right up my alley. Anything that resembles Aventus is a must try.
