Jeroboam Gozo Lab Edition (Vanina Muracciole) 2022 + 8th Birthday Limited Edition Giveaway

Jeroboam Gozo Lab Edition

Jeroboam Gozo Lab Edition by Karl

Jeroboam is a brand synonymous with power and making one’s presence felt. Each scent in the collection is an extrait de parfum, and as is said, the best things come in small packages. To celebrate the launch of Jeroboam eight years ago founder Francois Henin (Jovoy Paris) has released a limited Lab Edition of Jeroboam Gozo, usually presented in a bright orange flacon, this special release is presented in a transparent glass bottle with an engraved insignia revealing the extract in its truest form, the same iconic scent.

As with all Jeroboam perfumes the creator of Jeroboam Gozo Lab Edition is Vanina Muracciole. It takes inspiration from the tiny island of Malta in the Mediterranean sea and like its namesake the fragrance fuses the evidence of historic immigration of the past great western and eastern empires. It is a timely release as floral/spicy perfumes tend to be a perfect match for this festive season. As with all Jeroboam perfumes Gozo Lab Edition is built on a soft but powerful bed of musk. However, it has an explosive opening which I compared to a Christmas spiced orange. The freshness of the bergamot blending with a piquant saffron and luscious tuberose does make one salivate. The tuberose is the star of the show here and brings the entire composition together. There is a light gourmand touch that carries throughout the wearing on my skin, maybe this is due to my own DNA as we know fragrances perform differently on each of us. On the blotter the cedarwood is pronounced early on but slinks its way through on me.

Christmas Tree Romanian

The crystalline facets of Jeroboam Gozo Lab Edition are also evident in the heart where violet leaf and geranium keep the sparkle and lightness whilst the cedarwood adds a depth and strength. This is a beautiful dichotomy, and it creates a unique sensation. My mind harkens back to peppermint and cinnamon laced sugary Christmas rock candies hanging from the tree that slightly soft plastic nuance whilst tearing through the wrapper and eagerly digging into the red and white striped fruit rock inside. Personally, I think this effect has been achieved via the combination of saffron, tuberose and geranium amplified in the base with ambroxan. The musk keeps Jeroboam Gozo Lab Edition airy, but the base of patchouli also grounds the scent. There is enough umph here to satiate both lovers of a sweet disposition and those requiring deeper woods running through their perfumes.

To give an idea of where this fragrance sits amongst other popular  niche scents, those who enjoy Erba Pura will adore Gozo Lab Edition as it has that hit of sweetness but also links the best of Escentric Molecules 01 as the cedarwood is certainly apparent. What I experience is a perfume that lasts for hours on end and is bright, happy, and full of charm. Lovers of Jeroboam will experience the usual excellent sillage and longevity as is commensurate with the brand.

Notes: Bergamot, Saffron, Tuberose, Cedarwood, Violet Leaf, Geranium, Ambroxan, Musk, Patchouli.

  • I keep reading about Jeroboam, but never really got the chance to actually discover the fragrances. I do know Erba Pura and EM 01, so if Gozo Lab Edition is on the same level with those two, I am sure I will easily enjoy wearing it.
Thanks for the review and the draw!

  • Jeroboam Gozo Lab Edition sounds stunning! Violet leaf and Ambroxen! Love that combination. I have heard of Jeroboam before but have yet to sample anything. I am from MA USA . Thank you for the opportunity!

  • I was on board already. The talk of floral/spicy fragrances. The mention of pleasantly potent musks. These are things I already enjoy and was drawn to, but then Karl hit me with the “explosive opening” that comes off as a “Christmas spiced orange”. Sold.

I have heard Sebastian (aka The Perfume Guy) speak of Jeroboam several times but I have yet to try any of their fragrances. This one sounds like a winner for sure. I would love to check it out. Reading from North Carolina, USA.

  • The combination of saffron, tuberose and geranium is what makes me curious about this fragrance. I’d love to have it!
I am aware of Jeroboam, and I like a lot Lingo and Origino from them.
    I live in Italy.

  • Gozo Lab Edition sounds like a perfect Christmas perfume. I have sniffed a few Jeroboam fragrances but it has been a long time. This article has inspired me to return to the house to sample their fragrances again. I live in Indiana.

  • The unique, fascinating and absolutely gorgeous notes of this fragrance strike me. This perfume must smell magically. I live in Trzebnica, Poland, EU. I am aware of Jeroboam.

  • “The freshness of the bergamot blending with a piquant saffron and luscious tuberose does make one salivate.” Citrus+saffron+tuberose..damn! I love saffron and Tuberose.. the bed of musk and ambroxan seems like a great background. Grounding the bade with patchouli this making it darker is a great addition! Based on description, I love this scent already!

Yes I did hear about Jeroboam and I tried Ambra which I thought was amazing. I would love to enter the draw. I can take delivery in USA, Canada or Tunisia…

I love Jeroboam Vespero! Will always be a staple in my collection. This one sounds so good. I live in Boston Massachusetts usa!

  • I love a good musk perfume and I have yet to smell anything from this perfumer! So many wonderful ones judging from the past reviews!
    Thank you for the opportunity.
    I am in California USA.

  • This is the first time I’ve heard of Jeroboam, but I have to say based off Karl’s review i’m very interested in the notes present, especially the balance between airiness from the from the musk and depth from the cedarwood. From TX, USA

  • I have heard of Jeroboam but i have not smelled any of its offerings yet. I like Karl’s description of Gozo Lab Edition, as soft but powerful bed of musk, light gourmand touch, with cedarwood and patchouli giving it some depth and strength. This is a special release and would love to add Gozo to my collection.
    Maryland, US.

  • Oh yes, I love Jeroboam and really would love to try Goso. I am from the USA
    I am a follower of @cafleurebon
    Thank you

I love touberose and when I see a touberose I want it! I am addicted to touberose! I am from Romania Europe

  • I have heard of Jeroboam perfumes but had no chance to try them. What really strikes me in Gozo Lab Edition is my beloved Tuberose and Saffron, this duet sounds just fantastic. This fragrance should match my style perfectly. I live in Lithuania, EU.

  • I am new to Jeroboam, but I keep on hearing people talking about Gozo and I got really curious. From the notes it seems lovely… I am a big fan of Erba Pura from Xerjoff, so I think I would like it
    Thx for the beautiful giveaway

  • This sounds very interesting and alluring, especially the woody oriental style that this fragrance has. I’ve been to Malta twice before, such a sirene, beautiful country with lots a mishmash of different cultures. I’m excited for the opportunity of trying this one myself.

    I live in Sweden, EU.

  • The crystalline character while the cedarwood deepens the composition sounds very interesting, and I would love to try it. This fragrance, based on it’s description, sounds to be a divine meeting of heaven and earth. The fact that this is an Extrait de Parfum with great projection and longevity is a positive as well. Thank you for hosting this giveaway, and to Jovoy Parfums Rare for gifting a bottle.

    Writing from Sweden, EU 🙂

  • The floral and oriental (floriental?) components of this fragrance sound divine, to say the least. Tuberose is without a doubt one of my favourite flowers that is regularly used in fragrances, while saffron is holy in both cooking and the liquid gold we all know and love. Good luck everyone!

    I reside in Sweden, EU.

  • I absolutely adore the combination of saffron, tuberose and geranium. And what a surprise and delight to see the picture of a Christmas tree in the lobby of a hotel in Bucharest, the city of my youth! Thank you, Karl!

Jeroboam is unknown to me, but what an introduction! I live in Portugal now.

  • Thanks for the review Karl! Love the notes of this Gozo ( in spanish gozo means joy, enjoyment), so it is a great name for a fragrance and it relates as your final description of the scent as bright, happy, and full of charm. Love the opening of orange spiced, bergamot and saffron . Afraid of the power of tuberose, seems that here is not overwhelming and the cedarwood (Loving it more and more) and violet leaf , with the help of ambroxan, make a great presence (amplified by the concentration of extrait of parfum). I live in Spain, EU.

  • I definitely am aware of Jeroboam brand but unfortunately haven’t got the opportunity to try any of their perfumes since I live in small town in Poland. I’ve heard about Gozo on YouTube though, I think it was highly recommended by one of the YouTubers but I never thought it my be scent appropriate for Christmas time maybe I visited Gozo island during summer vacations. The spiced orange opening immediately brings the Christmas vibe. Karl’s review establish Gozo as a multidimensional fragrance. Would love to try that one.

  • Jeroboam Gozo Lab Edition sounds wonderful for Christmas. The notes are so interesting. Love a Floral & Spicy Fragrance. Thank you for this Chance USA

  • Oh wow! I bought Miksado for my bf for Christmas. But Gozo with a strong tuberose and the almost gourmand feel is one that I would definitely enjoy myself. Love the dna of jeroboam and can’t wait to explore more of these lovely musks!

  • Gozo checks all the boxes, i need to sample Jeroboam asap !
La Liturgie des Heures , Psychedelique , Les Jeux sont Faits Jovoy and Private Label are the Jovoy fragrances i know . Les Jeux sont Faits i found to be the best smelling one of the four , $180 is what i paid for 100ml bottle from Luckyscent.
Jeroboam sibling i have no experience with , other than seeing a few videos on Youtube , and the reviews on Cafleurebon. I do have plans for a trip to Paris, and visiting Jovoy boutique would be one of my top priorities.
Never been to Malta before, Gozo I would like to visit as tourist , full of historical seens and not overly crowded.
The fragrance is unusual, tuberose , patchouli , pleasing sweetness and bergamot in a special bottle.
    Exciting giveaway, USA
    Regards

  • Love Jeroboam and expecially Gozo. Hope to win this one! Thx Cafleurebon for the opportunity, and nice review as always.
    Claudia, Italy

  • I would like to try this collaboration between talented owner and perfumer. Malta I have visited, but the main island, not Gozo .
Karl Topham review of Gozo reminded me of me eating Sour Cinnamon Cream Cake, with saffron orange glaze , with some tuberose flowers on the table.
I’ve sampled Jeroboam black bottles only , and to me Insulo is undoubtedly the best one. Top quality vanilla fragrance , to me it smells like Pecan Caramel Rum Cake and some tobacco.
Appreciate the review, and the giveaway campaign.

  • Andrada Ghira says:

Tuberose is what strikes me the most since it can be a love or hate scent. I’m in love with the tuberose from Korloff’s Majestic, but not with the Radikal one from Laurent Mazzone, just to give some examples. I’ve heard of Jeroboam, but didn’t tested anythig, yet, since I’m at my beginning in diving to the world of perfumes. Or maybe perfumed world :). Writing from Bucharest, Romania.

  • The claim “There is enough umph here to satiate both lovers of a sweet disposition and those requiring deeper woods running through their perfumes.” strikes me the most about this perfume. I’m aware of Jeroboam, though haven’t tried any perfume from the house.
    Hugs from Croatia, EU.

  • Yes to Jeroboam! I enjoy a few from them, especially BOHA. The violet leaf, geranium and cedarwood in Gozo Lab Edition sound wonderful. I liked that it reminded Karl of Christmas rock candies. Thanks for another awesome article and draw. Mich USA

  • Sounds like a rather unique tuberose! With the Christmassy facets, but also crystalline from the violet and geranium, and also similar to Erba Pura?!
Would be happy to smell this, as my first Jeroboam experience.
I live in Denmark. Thanks for the draw!

  • If you’re a fragrance enthusiast you know Jovoy , but Jeroboam I think not many people know about , me included. I can easily chatter about Jovoy perfumes , but I have no experience with Jeroboam.
Gozo the island I just heard of. The fragrances is intriguing because it draws inspiration from a special place, both historically and geographically. The spicy floral amber with hints of orange candy sweetness . I expect sexy and playful , slightly carnal scent. The lustful drydown (because of tuberose, sweetness and musk) is what I’m actually looking for the most.
    Thanks for the draw

  • Jeroboam Gozo Lab Edition sounds lovely. The combination of Western and Eastern scents found in the crossroads of Malta is inspired. The notes of violet leaf, geranium, tuberose, saffron, ambroxan and cedarwood seem to creat a festive floral spicy fragrance. I’m so impressed that all the scents in the collection are extraits. I’ve sampled Jeroboan Ambra before. MD, USA.

  • Love this brand, I also love the soster one jovoy. Good selection to choose but my favorite is Gozo, can’t believe it’s in a giveway. Love this sent so unique and wuite difficult to describe.
    Greetings from Italy, Milan!

Thank you Karl! Each mention and story of Jeroboam makes my day. For me the adventure with Jeroboam started a couple of years back when I watched Sebastian Jara’s interview with Francois Henin on Instagram. I was fascinated by the colours of the bottles and Gozo stood out so much with its bright reddish orange. I have not had a chance to try Jeroboam offerings since then but knowing that the perfumer is one of the most acclaimed noses of today’s era, and looking at the notes of Gozo Lab Edition, as a lover of musk, saffron, violet leaf, cedar wood, ambroxan and patchouli – I cannot help but think this would be the most exquisite Christmas present I can imagine receiving. Thank you for the draw! I am in Dublin, Republic of Ireland (zone 2 for deliveries from Jovoy)

  • This house is still unknown to me although I must admit that I like their bottles as they are quite pretty. Gozo Lab Edition has some ingredients that I love, such as tuberose, violet leaf and musk – so I am sure I would enjoy this one.
    Thanks!

Gozo Lab Edition in its transparent glass bottle..love the idea of revealing the sincere nature of this iconic perfume, it’s a beautiful unwrapped gift that shows all the power of its truth.
I keep reading about Jeroboam and Gozo in particular, but i really didn’t have the chance to try all the references. I really enjoyed a little bottle of Ambra some time ago..curious to discover something else of this house!
    Smiles from Italy, EU.

  • It’s the first time I hear about Jeroboam, and I am really curious about this anniversary edition. I am in the EU

  • Jeroboam Gozo Lab Edition seems to be a happy and cheerful perfume. I have heard of this brand through Cafleurebon’s reviews and articles, though haven’t tried anything by them, yet. I like the notes in Jeroboam Gozo Lab Edition. Thanks for the review and draw. I am from the USA.

  • A Christmas spiced orange! Nice! I think this aspect would be interesting with the green violet leaf, I’d love to smell! I am not familiar with Jeroboam. I live in the USA.

  • Of course I know and I love Jeroboam (i own Floro) as well as Jovoy! They are in my top 5 fragrances list! I like the description of Gozo as Christmas spiced orange with tuberose as star, lying on a musky bed! Omg! I live in Greece, EU.

  • I have a little experience with the brand. In my opinion, all their offerings have amazing performance and nice quality. As for gozo everything with saffron and bergamot is worth trying for me. I live in Greece, EU

  • A spicy Christmas orange with a big bold tuberose and a slight gourmand touch throughout, sounds amazing and just what I need this winter!
    Writing from the EU. Thanks!

  • The parent company I know, Psychedelique is beyond gorgeous, one of the best patchouli scents ever made , but Jeroboam is new to me
Musk, non offensive white flowers , hard orange candy and if i have to guess very different patchouli , compaired to the patcouli in Psychedelique
What actually striked me is the comparison Karl made with Erba Pura, fragrance I really like.
I’ll gladly wear Gozo on all occasions , its versatile and quite attractive.
Thank you Karl Topham , Jovoy Paris and Jeroboam

Gozo, what a quirky and lovely title 🙂 Something “bright, happy, and full of charm” is precisely what I’m craving at this time of the year. Thank you for the review and greetings from Riga, Latvia.

  • Love Jeroboam!!!! And I’d love to have Gozo – Karl got me interested saying that the freshness of the bergamot blending with a piquant saffron and luscious tuberose makes one salivate.. 🙂
    I’m from CRO, EU.

  • Regis Monkton says:

I’ve certainly heard of Jeroboam and perfumer Vanina Muracciole, but I haven’t had a chance yet to try any of their fragrance releases. I’m definitely interested in trying this fragrance because of its list of notes: I love cedarwood, bergamot, patchouli, etc. I want to try this fragrance because Karl says that it has sweetness, and because he says: “the cedarwood is certainly apparent. What I experience is a perfume that lasts for hours on end and is bright, happy, and full of charm.” I live in the U.S.A.

  • Oh boy, I am a huge fan of Jeroboam, being Vespero my favorite one yet, but after this amazing review by Karl I truly want to smell this one.
Vanina Muracciole seems to only make masterpieces. I think that Gozo Lab Edition with its sweetness, the ambroxan and saffron is something unique and different from what I have smelled yet. I hope I win this one.
    USA here.

  • This fragrance sounds like a dream, I am definitely intrigued by the combination of tuberose, violet leaf and cedarwood.
I haven’t had the chance to try any of the Jeroboam fragrances yet, but this article really put this house on my radar.
Reading from Romania. Thank you for writing about such interesting compositions and for organizing the draw!

  • Never had a chance to try Gozo by Jeroboam but Karl’s review makes me believe that the profile scent of Vanina’s Muracciole creation definitely sounds like something that I would love. The freshness blends with spicy and woody notes as well as flowery notes. It seams that the fragrance perfectly portraits the clash of western and eastern culture that you can find in Gozo, that also Karl had mentioned in his article. Did you know that some scenes of Game of Thrones was shot on Malta but also on Gozo? I wonder if Gozo perfume would suit Khaleesi 😉 . I’m resident of Poland.

  • I like tuberose and I’m always curious to try new tuberose centric compositions. I have heard of Jeroboam since a few years ago (the black bottles) and recently found that it’s a Jovoy brand, but haven’t tried anything from them.
    I’m in Romania.

  • Gozo limited edition seems like a great perfume for the holidays. I love how Karl compares it with cracking open the rock Candy
    USA

  • I’ve tried a few of their fragrances in Jovoy in Paris, but I’ve tried so many that day that I can’t really remember what they were like. The gourmand note might be coming from Ambroxan and how your skin reacts to it.

I’ve noticed all of the Ambroxan heavy fragrances I wear to develop a not-exactly-sweet, but very “tasty” note and sometimes feel like I could eat myself. As a fan of floral-spicy combination and a sucker for everything Mediterranean inspired (Malta!) I’m already in love with this perfume and would like to win it.

    Greetings from Croatia, Leonarda.

  • wallygator88 says:

Thank you for the great review Karl.

I haven’t smelt this house before and it was quite interesting to read your review.

I think the most fascinating thing is how this fragrance lies between peppermint canes hanging from a tree to the woody perfume that is Molecule 01.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • I’m familiar with all Jeroboam fragrances, excluding Floro . If I have to rate my favorite ones:
    1. Insulo
    2. Oriento
    3. Gozo / Ambra

Malta is really unique place for a different reasons. Location, culture, the language is an odd mix of Arabic, Italian and French. Gozo was made with collaboration with a superstar in the Middle East influencer , I just can’t remember his name right now.
My impressions of fragrance very similar , compared to what Karl is getting , but not exactly the same.
I can see the Erba Pura comparison, the tuberose, saffron, but I wonder why I’m getting a lot of orange blossom, from the opening until dry down?
Gozo is definitely rich and addictive .
    All profiles I already follow , including @francoisheninjovoy , @waltherp99bg
    Thanks a lot

  • I’ve read a few reviews about this house, but have yet to try anything. This reads like I would enjoy it, especially based on the cedar reference to Eccentric Molocule 01. I have never tried Pura Erba, so I do not have a comparison, but have heard good things about that fragrance also. Thank you for the draw! In the US.

  • I enjoy the potency and weight of an extrait de parfum, so this Gozo Lab Edition is intriguing. Karl compared the opening to a Christmas spiced orange; the smell of orange pomanders is one of the highlights of this winter season, and I’ve wanted to try a fragrance capturing that iconic combination of citrus and clove. I also love cedarwood in my fragrances, and this use of cedar sounds deft. Thanks for the review Karl—I’d love to try this one.

I’m in the midwest, USA. I don’t believe I’ve tried a Jeroboam fragrance.

  • Francois Henin is doing everything right, from A to Z , undeniably Jovoy is the best boutique worldwide, Jovoy fragrances are great , and Jeroboam project is different , and successful.
Karl review was Christmasy, cinnamon, mint, patchouli and rock candies on top of tuberose.
Insulo is awesome , if i have to imagine, Gozo is on pair
    Thank you for the opportunity

Greetings everyone , and Happpy Birthday to Jovoy
Walking into Jovoy in Paris is like waking into Victoria and Albert Museum in London, in Jovoy you’ll be fascinated by the sheer amount of elaborate fragrance brands, and in Victoria and Albert Museum by the amount of elaborate jewelry from all over the world.
I like how Mr Topham let us know about the reason Gozo bottle is now transparent, and not bright orange . What actually surprised me a lot, was what I saw on the last picture, up until now there was no 100ml bottles from Jeroboam, only 30ml , I wonder if it’s a limited edition offer only , or at some time all Jeroboam fragrances will be available in both 30ml and 100ml .
Fragrances performe and smell differently on each of us Mr Topham thinks, and I agree , since i belive Gozo is sweet, but not as sweet as Xerjoff Erba Pura, and there is leather too .
I do live in Paris for quite some time now , of course I’m aware of Jovoy boutique, and Jovoy and Jeroboam . I bought a lot of fragrances from them, almost all in person, inclusive of 2 x Jovoy, and 1 x Jeroboam
Thank you, American living in Paris France

  • The spiced orange and tuberose has got me intrigued – not many spiced orange perfume I’ve heard of. I am a fan of Jeroboam due to their quality extraits and have tried a few at Jovoy Mayfair. Fabulous store. Live in London, UK.
