Indulge Your Senses: Palatium Bath Oils and Foams + When in Rome Draw

Since the beginning of time, the art of bathing has been an important part of one's state of mind and good health. These days it is also the ultimate luxury. A good long soak in the tub is one of life's greatest pleasures and anti-stressers.

The "Imperial Palatium" of Baia (Naples)- Bath of Hermes (first century BC)

As early as the the third century B.C., Romans built elaborate bath houses. It is from these ancient origins that the founders behind a "scent-uous" new line of bath products, Palatium, drew their inspiration (the name derives from the Palatine Hill—seat of emperors). Infused with olive oil from Tuscany, a key ingredient in Roman bathing rituals, soybean and jojoba along with vitamin E, and green tea, these botanical ingredients are an indulgence for both mind and body.

Palatium’s three fragrances are inspired by scents native to the Mediterranean and Classical Italy. They were carefully crafted by master New York-based  perfumer Rayda Vega (the former Givaudaun perfumer and the nose behind the niche scents by Montgomery Frazier's Ambra di venezia, Apothia If, Apothia Velvet Rope, Joya Composition No 1 and No 6:

Arancia Dolce is inspired by the sweet citrus of the orange groves lining seaside retreats from Cinque Terre to Amalfi. Top Note: Effervescent orange, grapefruit and lime zest. Mid Note: Lily of the valley, jasmine and orange blossom. Bottom Note: Cedarwood and gentle musk.

Fico Speziato (editor's choice) is based on the scent of fresh fig balanced by gentle spices from Jerusalem and Alexandria along the Eastern edges of the Mediterranean. Top Note: Fresh dew drops of rain and green notes from orange flower leaves. Mid Note: Magnolia, rose petals and jasmine. Bottom Note: Exotic woods and musk.

Mare Myrteus blends the elemental zest of a refreshing trade wind with spirited notes of Tyrrhenian myrtle berries. Top Note: Refreshing bergamot, sparkling lemon and cool, ocean air breezes. Mid Note: Floral jasmine and muguet blended with tangy ginger. Bottom Note: Blonde woods, amber and musk.

As someone who is a connoisseur of bath products, Palatium is a wonderful new discovery and I love the packaging which evokes artisanal olive oil. Thanks to the owners of Palatium, CaFleureBon is offering a draw for your choice of any Palatium bath oil or foam (the foam can be used in the shower). Visit their website  at http://www.thepalatium.com  then leave a comment on your scent choice (foam or oil), and tell us why you deserve a sybarite's soak or shower. Draw ends March 7, 2012

  • Arancia Dolce oil sounds amazing! I deserve a sybarite’s soak or shower because I definitely need to relax and I would love to bring a piece of Italy into my daily routine!

  • Maryevans says:

Mare Myrteus would be my choice in the foam so I can indulge in both bath and shower
Myrtle berries are not often used in fragrances and they smell great
I deserve an escape since I would love to travel back to Italy but can’t afford it
Thank you for bringing palatium to my attention I had never heard of it before ,but I always find the best of what’s new on this blog

  • I would love the Arancia Dolce foam! I deserve a sybarite’s soak or shower so I could just close my eyes in the bath and take myself away from the everyday stresses and feel transported to the Amalfi coast!

  • Scentual healing says:

You had me at amalfi coast one of the most glorious places in the world so I am going with arancia dolce
I own Joya composition 1 and love it
I deserve the sybaritic treatment because I don’t often indulge so I would choose the bath oil

  • Fico Speziato Bath Foam. Don’t get to soak. No tub, just a shower. I need a new sensory experience!

  • These all sound so divine it’s difficult to choose, but I think I’ll go with the Fico Speziato in oil. A sybarite’s soak would be wonderful right now – I’ve been ill the last week, then my hubby got it, before all that we had to take my mother-in-law to the hospital, and my job is stressful to boot. Calgon take me away? How about Palatium take me away! 🙂 Thanks for the draw.

  • My choice would be Mare Myrteus. I also think the packaging is great. Why do I deserve this for my BATH…Trust me, would make me ever so happy and cope with stress. Thanks to all for making us aware of these awesome products, and for the draw..

  • That Fico Speziato sounds lovely! They all sound refreshing and soothing. I would like to try the oil- I have salts for the bath, but no oils.

I deserve to be pampered and soaked because I work sooo hard!!! My body is sore.

  • Ah! The Fico Specziato Foam would be for me! I would love to try this. I have a very stressful job and this would help alleviate some of that stress.

  • I would love to soak in Fico Speziato oil. I take care of people all day but right now I really need to take care of me! A soak sounds divine. Thank you for the draw.

  • It must be Fico Speziato for the evocative scents of spices from ancient Roman trade routes held in a floral veil, deepened with woods and musk. I’m right there in my mind already! As I’m travelling abroad three days a week, my greatest solace is a leisurely soak – Palatium bath oil would make it a heavenly retreat.

  • Laurentiu says:

I would like to win Fico Speziato because I can surely say that it will make me think how it was back then to be a roman and having this pleasure of going to bath houses.

  • Since I was in a car accident in Nov., I still cannot take a bath, as I broke my right foot…still in therapy…would be difficult to get out of the tub…I just started taking a shower without a chair. I would love to try the foam in the Fico Spiziato fragrance, as I have never had a fragrance with fig in it. As soon as I can luxuriate in a tub & be able to get out, you better believe I will!!!! Thank you.

  • How very serendipitous this is! Just this past weekend I was catching up on Spartacus: Vengeance (on demand) and being it was set in very early Rome there was a scene with the domina (mistress) of a villa soaking in a large bath with scented oils and flower petals added by her slaves. *sighs*

I have many and various scented bath products (oils, bubbling oils, salts and soaks) yet have found nothing that TRULY captures the “aura” of ancient Rome and it’s luxurious baths!

I have always loved the scent of Myrtle! Please enter me in the draw for Mare Myrteus (in the foam) so I can soak languidly in patrician luxury or just shower quickly and still feel “imperial”! 😉

Thanks for the info. Also thank you to Palatium for their generosity AND for keeping to the ancient formulae!!

  • I deserve a sybarite’s soak or shower because I never had anything like that! I’m also studying Philosophy, a thing pretty close to the greek and roman world it’s a matter of destiny!
A shower Arancia Dolce in foam would be an awesome moment!!

  • Fico Speziato in oil form, because I wanna take a long bath and think of my wrinkled fingers and toes as “figged” instead of “pruned”.

  • Not a Botanist says:

I would love to try Fico Speziato oil. Everyone deserves to be pampered once in a while. It must be wonderful to be able to drown one’s troubles in a hot bath while surrounded by fragrances.

  • I think bath oils are the perfect antidote to a long, stressful day. The tactile pleasure of anointing the oil combined with a soothing fragrance can have such a restorative effect. I would love to try Fico Speziato oil…right now, in fact 🙂

  • I have been so stressed out lately, being in the process of moving out and attempting to start a new life in the busy city.
A nice fragrant soak would relax me in a way that would do me a lot of good.
Mare Myrteus sounds so lovely in a oil form.

  •  Mare Myrteus in oil sounds perfect. Why I deserve it? Hard to say I deserve it but I know it would help me to pass this difficult time. Saying good-bye to a loved one is never easy.

  • tomatefarcie says:

I love trying all sorts of soaks, hammams, turkish baths, korean spas, would love to add this! dererving, of course-I survived the Bush years! They all sound great but I think I’d start with Mare Myrteus.

  • Michelle Hunt says:

In these stressful times, the bath and shower is a chance to escape, to feel new and reborn. These products sound like a wonderful way to luxuriate in the bath. I would love to enter for Fico Speziato foam.

  • Deanna G. says:

I’d choose the Fico Speziato foam and I deserve it because I love taking showers and I would thoroughly enjoy it! 🙂

  • Victoria Casey says:

I would love the Fico Speziato oil! I need to relax in the tub after a stressful day at work.

  • I would like to win Fico Speziato (oil) for I want it as a gift for my wife. I know how muchs she loves to relax in the bath and Fico Speziato appears to be perfect for that.
