Hermetica FigFever review

When the wanderlust hits, whether it’s from quarantine, the ‘new-normal’ of teleworking and not traveling like before, or just because life is too busy, I travel with perfume. With perfume you can travel wherever you want, if you let your imagination take over. Come with me – I am taking an exhilarating, soul-refreshing trip to the hot, lush jungle and urban sophistication of Panama City, Panama with Hermetica’s FigFever.

Hermetica was launched in 2018 by Clara and John Molloy, the founders of Memo Paris and Floraiku. They introduced Hermetica “molecular” eaux de parfums which are clean, green, refillable, alcohol-free fragrances that are good for your skin and the environment. Hermetica uses unique patented technology – Innoscent™ – developed by Symrise, which is a first-ever in the fragrance industry. The Hermetica line is packaged in striking, sleek, green lacquered glass bottles, and for every bottle sold on their website, Hermetica will plant one tree. Aside from the bottles and scents being gorgeous, the fragrances are also long-lasting, moisturizing, paraben and cruelty free, and vegan.

As we board our flight to Panama City, Panama, there is already an air of relaxed excitement in the air onboard the plane.  Everyone is chatting and is casually yet tastefully dressed, in the colors of the tropics.  Is that handsome man trying to make eye-contact with me across the aisle? The flight crew is smiling, welcoming and seem to be genuinely enjoying themselves.  I look around the plane – it is decorated in bright colors; comfortable plush seats and each passenger has their own personal headset.  I put them on – what music is this playing?  Merengue?  Salsa?  Tango?  I’m not sure, but I start to move with the addictive beat in my seat and realize everyone else is too.  A flight attendant comes to my seat with a complimentary green-colored cocktail, garnished with beautiful, bright fruit.  I take a sip – it’s decadently delicious, slightly sweet, fruity and icy cool.  I sit back, close my eyes, relax and absorb this festive, friendly atmosphere and enjoy this moment.

Hermetica FigFever encapsulates this feeling by taking the fleshy, green fig leaf molecule, and in genius alchemy combining it with luscious black current and festive-fresh mandarin for a cool, refreshing and sweet-fruity pleasure. As we descend on final approach to Panama City, the clouds part to reveal a sparkling, modern, steel metropolis that looks like it has sprouted straight out of this dense, dark green, seemingly impenetrable rainforest.  The water below surrounding the city is so hyper-blue that I would swear it is colored by a highlighter. It looks incredibly fresh against the humid lushness of the rainforest, and the structure of the city. Hermetica FigFever unites this fun, sweet-fruity wave with modish, powdery florals and woody notes to mirror the feeling of hot sun and cool shade on skin, like going from a sunny garden to the shade between city skyscrapers downtown.

We get to our hotel, and are escorted through the immaculate, stylish lobby. We pass a lounge where that same infectious music, laughter and people’s animated conversations are spilling out into the hallway. I travel on to my also-stylish room.  It’s cool inside, pastel hued and very elegant.  I can’t wait to crawl into this beautiful bed tonight with these crisp, soft sheets and fluffy pillows, but first, I am off to the beach and the city.  I change to my beach clothes, open my veranda door, and am hit with an intense besiege of lush tropical foliage, every color of green imaginable – and brightly colored flowers everywhere – even in the trees! There is a multi-layered effect looking up into the rainforest canopy, as if the treetops keep going to touch the sky. In the canopy are what sounds like a hundred different species of birds chirping. I follow a narrow path through this immensely dense foliage of wonder and emerge to that same cerulean water I saw from my window on the plane.  I take a deep breath – it’s fresh, humid, clean and earthy – restorative.

Hermetica FigFever has this same duality of lush, wild, jungle meeting refined, elegant urban modernity. The vegetal, fleshy fig, the hypnotic floral trail of Jasmine, Rose, Iris and Lily of the Valley and the golden-hued woody amber notes of Myrrh Oil, Patchouli Oil and Tonka combine to create an air of refined, modern allure. I lay my towel down between two emerald-green palm trees with their fronds dangling down to meet the turquoise water and feel the humid heat and sun on my skin.  I hear music in the distance, and see people on the beach together laughing, talking and dancing, and kids running and playing.  There is a man walking the beach selling empanadas and ice cream from a small colorful cart.  I look out at the ocean through the shading palm fronds, the bright sun shining off the water and silver city skyscrapers in the distance and marvel at how much feeling this place holds.

Hermetica FigFever captures this jubilant, carnival, relaxing atmosphere – the sun on your skin, the soft air around you, the exuberant feeling of sand and water at your feet and enjoyment all around you. As I smell the mix of jungle, ocean and city, I decide I will go explore that chic, cosmopolitan city later tonight after this marvelous sun sets, have more cool green cocktails, dance, laugh and see what the evening brings.

  • Hermetica FigFever sounds like alot of fun. Cynthia compared it to a carnival and tropic beach. The notes are beautiful. Love the dry down powdery. Thank you for this Chance USA

  • msnitechemist says:

Color me intrigued by the notes: there are so many, I’d like to see how a perfumer makes them sing in harmony. The fact that there is no alcohol in here is also quite interesting, so the feel on the skin (not even getting to the scents) will be different. I would love to go on a trip to somewhere warmer as we begin our march towards winter. I live in the US. Thank you for the draw.

  • Of course i know Memo Paris , but not the younger brother. My husband owns French Leather , and now i’m using it from time to time.
Hermetica FigFever is right up my alley type of fragrance – Merengue music, party , cuddling and the right amount of sweetness.
I can only guess , but the cocktail on the plane could’ve been the famous Fig and Granny Smith Sangria , I personally prefer with Sauvignon Blanc.
Cynthia Hunter plane story motivated me to make the cocktail right now , simplified version i admit. If someone wonders
1 big Granny Smith apple, thinly sliced
    3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
    6-7 figs sliced
    1 cup Calvados
    1 bottle chilled Sauvignon Blanc
Cheers with my home made Fig and Granny Smith Sangria 🙂 FigFever here i come.

  • Thanks for very interesting review and great draw !
Fleshy, green fig leaf molecule with rose and jasmine and in the base patchouli- sounds beautiful- like green jungle in the summer.

  • This sounds great! I love fig as a note so I’m already in love. Bonus if it makes me feel like I’m on the beach. Thanks for the draw. From Indianapolis.

  • I had the opportunity to purchased a discovery set by Hermetica a while back and I was taken by how much most of their offerings were appealing to me. I totally love this review and will love to experience how Hermetica captures the jubilant, carnival and relaxing atmosphere of the beach and tropical areas. Thank for another great review and for the opportunity to participate in this draw. Commenting from Orlando, Florida. USA.

  • Cynthia! ❤️ It’s 30 degrees here; I was SO on vacation with you while reading your lovely review! I like that Hermetica scents are moisturizing, paraben and cruelty free, and vegan. The lovely environments of jungle, ocean, and city that Fig Fever evokes sound wonderful. I’m quite interested in the note of “fig” (what is it, exactly?). I still have so much to learn! Thank you for this wonderful opportunity!

  • Firstly, after reading the review, I now want to travel to Panama City! Lol. Very descriptive review of that city. I have yet to try anything from the Hermetica line, but love that they are very eco friendly, vegan, and especially the planting of a tree for each bottle sold. I do like fig driven fragrances, and own a bottle of Figue by Molinard. This sounds more intricate with the patchouli, myrrh and tonka. I am in the US.

  • I adore almost any scent with fig. I would love to try a tropical take on one of my favorite notes. A trip to Panama City sounds like just the ticket! In maryland.

  • I enjoyed a lot Cynthia´s review because she made me remember my trip to Panama 5 years ago. I really enjoy the city, the beach, the warmness of its people. Figfever sound like a very appealing fragrance, something you would totally wear as a everyday fragrance or to go to the beach.

  • I like fig as a note but I never found. fig-centric fragrance I love. FigFever sounds like an interesting take on the fruit; green fleshy fig with classic floral notes in a woody-amber base. I like the juxtaposition of the wild jungle meeting refined, urban modernity. Great review Cynthia! I’m in MD, USA

  • Enjoyed taking a virtual relaxing trip to Panama City in Cynthia’s lovely review of Fig Fever. Having tried Memo Paris perfumes, I would think Fig Fever is also quite good, being as it’s also made by the founders of Memo Paris. Beautiful bottle, great notes, vegan and with a commitment to planting a tree for every bottle sold, Fig Fever seems to be a great perfume to check out. Besides, I could use a trip to Panama City, even if it’s an olfactory journey. Thanks for the review and draw. Writing from the USA.

This fragrance sounds like a lot of fun. I love your description of the “ duality of lush, wild, jungle meeting refined, elegant urban modernity”. And I had no idea Hermetica, Memo and Floraiku were related. Thanks for the draw. USA

  • First off Panama city night life looks like so much fun.. very interested in going!! Bunch of notes in one fragrance, love how Cynthia compares em… Lovely review as usual!! I’m a fan of memo Paris so this one is a most try, can’t wait to get my nose on it!! So many interesting fragrances out in 2021 & they keep coming!!!

Thanks Cafleurebon for the opportunity, good luck everyone!!!

  • “Hermetica FigFever has this same duality of lush, wild, jungle meeting refined, elegant urban modernity.”

Ok you got my attention , FigFever is what I’m looking for , sweet, fruity, with florals and woody notes. Versatile high quality fragrance.
I also don’t remember smelling water based fragrances, especially with moisturising effects.Good longevity is always appreciated .
I’ll have to check this brand.
    Thank you all

  • Oh boy. What did I love about the article? Easy – the word fig. Not only is FigFever one of the very few fig frags I’ve never tried (I’ve become a bit obsessed with them over this summer), but I’ve actually never tried anything from Hermetica so this would be a true joy. Thanks for the entry :). US.

  • Professor_Bair says:

Fig is certainly a favorite note for my warm weather go-tos. This one sounds incredible. I love how Cynthia smells the jungle, ocean and city in this fragrance. Beautiful! USA

  • Never had a chance to smell Hermetica fragrances , but I own a bottle of Tiger’s Nest from the parent company Memo Paris, and over 10 samples too.Impressive one , and it works wonders . Over 10 hours of longevity and 3-4 hours of strong projection.
Cynthia Hunter take on FigFever made me think of eating Fig Jam and Cardamom Cake with Mascarpone Frosting and Fresh Non-Candied Figs on top , while sitting on some tropical beach.
Appreciate the review, and the giveaway campaign

  • FigFever sounds fun and uplifting! I appreciated the holiday imagery that Cynthia portrayed in her description of the notes. Around February is when I feel like I need something to remind me that Winter will end and that sunny vacations are around the corner. I would enjoy trying FigFever. I haven’t heard of Hermetica yet but they definitely interest me with a water based formula.

Thanks for the giveaway! In the USA.

  • I have so many wonderful memories in PCB! I need this perfume to keep those moments alive. <3 Loved Cynthia's writeup and how relaxing she makes this perfume sound. I live in the USA

  • I was not aware such products even existed . Fragrance and moisturizer Combined ?!? I learned something new.
Memo African Leather, cozy date time scent I’m well aware of, I had to buy it because of smelling good , its high compliment factor , and versatility. Same thing I’m expecting from FigFever , fruity, woody, slightly sweet and full of energy fragrance.
    Nice giveaway, USA
    Regards

  • I’ve heard of this fragrance house before, but I didn’t know that it is from Clara and John Molloy. I find certain aspects of this fragrance house to be edifying, e.g. the environmentalism aspects. Also, I like hearing about fragrances which have good overall performance. Discovering certain things about this company caused me to want to try this fragrance and whatever else this company would release. I live in MD., U.S.A. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.

  • Thanks for the drawing!
Cynthia takes us on a scent journey with her as the cascades the notes of this fragrance, tropical sights and sounds as you enjoy the city of Panema. With the delicious fig and a backdrop of florals that will whisk us away from these fall blues.

    I’m in the USA.

  • Happy, calm and joyful fragrance with figs , rose and iris , combined with merengue , salsa , and tango , I’m thrilled. Cynthia review also reminded me of one dreamy vacation I wish I had in 2021.
Tiger’s Nest and African Leather are my favorites from Memo Paris, Hermetica I’m not familiar with.
    Thanks for the draw

  • Very nice review! What I enjoyed about Cynthia’s review is learning that the fragrances are not only clean and green, but that Hermetica will plant one tree for every bottle sold! I think that’s so fantastic that Hermetica is environmentally conscious in such a manner and focused on both conservation and sustainability. So many fragrances call themselves “green” and “clean”, but with no information as to how and why. Knowing this, I will certainly support Hermetica as a brand in the future! I live in the US.

  • Michael Prince says:

What I enjoyed about Cynthia’s review is how her elaborate and detailed review literally felt like I was transported to Panama City and I was experiencing this beautiful fragrance in person with green foliage and fig, fruity and floral tropical rainforest, and beautiful water on the beach. I also love the brands concept of alcohol free, paraben free, vegan, cruelty free, sustainable and reusuable products, as well as a pledge to plant a tree for every bottle sold. I am from the USA.

  • I love the dichotomies evoked by this review: sun and shade, verdant and urban. I’m not a massive lover of fruity fragrances, but fig is a major exception, and this is a house I’ve been interested in exploring since I acquired a little sample of their intriguing Source1. I’m in the US.

  • Water based , with moisturizing effects, long lasting and going straight to the base fragrances. No doubt Hermetica are bringing a lot of new things to the fragrance game.
FigFever sounds so nice , balance is needed in our lives…at least I need it. Just by the look at the pictures, i can say Panama feels like a place I’d like to be right now. FigFever is one happy versatile fragrance i’d like to have.

  • Holy, holy… wow. Now I need to visit Panama City! I’ve dreamed about a city like this— a real city in a jungle. And all the imagery Cynthia uses here is uplifting to me. (California)

  • I’m familiar with all prior 2021 Hermetica fragrances , I own the sample set that was available last year. If I have to rate my favorite ones:
    1.Sandalsun
    2.Verticaloud
    3.Patchoulilight
I like the all-around aspect of FigFever , i could wear it laying on the hammock on a tropical island, but also in the office ,or the coffee shop. I so miss the beach and the ocean.

  • Thanks for the great review Cynthia.

Absolutely sounds like a holiday in a bottle. Considering how cold it is currently where I am, I am glad to be transported by your review to tropical, fruity and sun kissed carnival environments.
