As an avid lover of fragrances and an explorer at heart, I am always in search of scents that can transport me to far-off destinations, allowing me to experience the essence of a place without actually being there. When I first encountered Gallivant Accra composed by Stephanie Bakouche with Creative Director Nick Steward, I was immediately captivated by its ability to paint a vivid picture of the city it is inspired by. While I have not yet had the opportunity to travel to Accra, this perfume have given me an olfactive experience that is truly remarkable.

A new destination, and a new continent for GALLIVANT – and I’m thrilled with the reaction from our customers, some of whom have been sharing with me their own personal links to Ghana and West Africa. It feels fantastic to be shining a spotlight on somewhere so exciting.”- Nick Steward, Founder of Gallivant, 10th July 2023.

Accra, the bustling capital of Ghana, holds a special allure with its rich history, vibrant colours, and warm atmosphere. It has always been on my list of dream destinations, and the idea of exploring its vibrant markets, indulging in its tantalizing cuisine, and immersing myself in its cultural tapestry has fueled my wanderlust. Through the skillful blending of tropical fruits and spices, Gallivant Accra captures the essence of this captivating city in a way that feels so real, it’s as if I am there, breathing in the scents that fill its bustling streets.

Gallivant Accra opens with the luscious notes of mango and papaya, their juicy sweetness mingling in the air, as if I am standing in a bustling market, surrounded by vendors displaying an abundance of ripe tropical fruits. The fragrance then takes me on a journey through the city’s verdant landscapes, with the invigorating scent of passion berries and the fresh, green notes that evoke the lushness of Accra’s surroundings. It’s as if I can feel the warmth of the sun on my skin and the gentle breeze carrying these fragrant notes to my senses.

The heart of Gallivant Accra reveals the city’s pulsating energy with the addition of hot peppers, infusing the fragrance with a tantalising heat that mirrors the bold flavours found in the local cuisine. I can almost taste the fiery spices and imagine myself sampling the culinary delights that make Accra’s food scene so enticing. As the perfume settles on my skin, the base notes of coffee and cocoa create a warm and comforting embrace, reminiscent of the aromas that waft from the city’s charming cafes and bakeries. It’s a moment of pure indulgence, as if I am sipping a dark cup Robusto Arabica at Cafe Kwae in Airport City in Accra.

Gallivant Accra has reaffirmed my belief in the power of perfume to transcend physical borders and offers us a glimpse into the beauty of places we long to explore. It has ignited my desire to visit Accra even more, to witness its lively streets and immerse myself in its culture firsthand. Until that day comes, I will cherish this perfume as a personal memento, a fragrant reminder of the dreams and aspirations that fuel my wanderlust, and a testament to the incredible artistry of perfumers like Stephanie Bakouche, who can capture the essence of a place and bring it to life through scent.

Notes: tropical mango and papaya, passion berries, hot peppers, coffee & cocoa, tobacco, patchouli, leather.

  • I have not tried anything by Gallivant, but Accra certainly sounds lovely. From Karl’s review, it sounds like this fragrance can summon a fantasy experience of a particular place very effectively. I am intrigued by the combined notes of hot pepper and coffee! As for where this perfume house should go next…how about Lisbon, Portugal?

  • peppers, coffee & cocoa, tobacco, patchouli, leather. I am intrigued by the notes especially peppers, coffee, cacao, patchouli, tobacco and leather. A brand that I yet to explore. But this shows the power of perfumery to take you to far away places like Accra just shows the accomplishments of the perfumer to capture the feel and essence of Accra just spellbinding. Thanks a million from the UK

I haven’t had the chance to experience any fragrances from Gallivant, but Accra definitely piques my interest. According to Karl’s review, it seems that this fragrance has a remarkable ability to transport you to a captivating destination. I’m particularly fascinated by the unique blend of hot pepper and coffee notes. It sounds like a delightful olfactory adventure! New JErsey, USA

  • I’m drawn to the hot peppers note. As a fan of unique unisex fragrances, Accra sounds like it fits right in. Thanks for the opportunity to sniff. Mich USA

  • I don’t know much about the culture of Ghana, but Gallivant Accra sounds like a thoughtful tribute to the capitol’s markets. The combination of tropical fruit, passion berries, and green aromatics feels perfect for this season; the hot pepper, coffee, and cocoa notes are a warming balance that I expect are particularly nice as Accra dries down. I’d love to try this and experience the strong sense of place Karl highlighted in his terrific review.

I’m in the midwest, USA. I haven’t tried any Gallivant perfumes, but hope to try this one.

  • What an incredible combination of notes! Tropical fruits blended with coffee, cocoa, and tobacco?! The fragrance sounds like quite an olfactory experience. I’ve never owned a bottle of Galliavant. This would be quite an interesting one to start with!
