Daniel Gallagher of Gallagher Fragrances
"There is one art, no more, no less – to do all things with artlessness." Piet Hein, 1905 – 1996
The fragrances created by independent artisan perfumer Daniel Gallagher epitomize the guileless nature and spontaneity that characterize the best of the perfumer's art. With his latest offering – Fineapple – Daniel Gallagher artfully contrasts and then integrates olfactory opposites, synthesizing a welcome new take on the scent of pineapple, the popular fragrant theme that took root in 1938 with Jean Patou's iconic Colony.

Experiencing Gallagher Fragrances Fineapple is like coring, slicing and then shamelessly gorging on cool and juicy fresh pineapples. I savor the first crisp chunk of the bromeliad fruit, amplified with just the right touch of green apple. The initial burst of wet, concentrated flavor is immediately complemented with a hint of magnolia followed by the surprising effect of tinder-dry woods, soaking up the wetness of that first bite.

The integration of scented opposites, opening and evolving on my skin, is complex but never complicated. Airy seductive jasmine swirls in and out of the dry woods, evoking scented breezes and tropical isles. From morning until evening, Fineapple draws compliments from family, friends and strangers alike. My husband loves it and has been wearing my coveted sample. Creating a balanced and original pineapple-centric fragrance can be quite a challenge. Too often pineapple perfumes are overripe, or worse – too familiar. Gallagher Fragrances Fineapple not only "aces" my freshness test but also manages to successfully negotiate the fine line between imitation and inspiration, offering a unique and inventive version of the ever popular pineapple.

I admit that my words are insufficient to describe the mouthwatering qualities and subsequent stimulating dry woody effects that define the artistry of Gallagher Fragrances new Fineapple. For me Fineapple is simply love at first sniff. I find myself craving this juicy/dry unisex beauty, reaching for it again and again. The Danish polymath – poet, mathematician, scientist and inventor – Piet Hein, probably said it best: “Love is like a pineapple, sweet and undefinable.” Piet Hein, 1905 – 1996
Notes: Magnolia, green apple, pineapple, jasmine, dry woods and musk ambrette.
