Fragrances for the New Year 2023: Initio Parfums Prives Rehab, Navitus Parfums Champagne Royale and Etat Libre D’Orange The Ghost in a Shell + 3 Giveaways

Best Fragrances for the New Year 2023

Our choices for the best fragrances to ring in the New Year 2023 are olfactory reminders to celebrate each day anew, reset, recharge and embrace new beginnings –Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief and Steven Gavrielatos, Video Content Editor

Navitus Parfums Champagne Royale (Julien Rasquinet) is the scented equivalent of a Kir Royale (champagne and Chambord©) and a great perfume to ring in 2023. It opens bright and effervescent with a burst of aldehydes and Italian citrus fruits. A plum note in the heart adds sweetness and cheerful warmth to the cedarwood base. -Michelyn and Steven

Initio Parfums Prives Rehab: Rehab ticks all the boxes as one of the best fragrances for the New Year 2023. To my nose it’s a clean, fresh, somewhat spicy Fougere-like fragrance. Notes include lavender, bergamot, and  sandalwood which are all known for their calming and soothing properties. And then there’s the Hedione©…Hedione was originally used by fragrance company Firminich© in the early 1960s as an alternative to jasmine absolute and was first used in perfumery by Edmond Roudnitska in 1966 when he created  Dior’s Eau Sauvage. In 2015, the science journal NeuroImage published a study in which Hedione was found to stimulate the limbic areas of the brain in women which are responsible for the release of pheromones. After all, Rehab is part of the Hedonist collection. -Michelyn

Etat Libre D’Orange The Ghost in A Shell (Julie Masse): Founder and creative director of Etat Libre D’Orange, Etienne de Swardt shares the background on how the perfume’s idea came into existence: “It is a night of pale moonlight, a night toward the end of the 20th century, a night when the old world is ending and the new one is beginning. The Ghost in The Shell takes its name from the cyber punk Manga series, and may seem like an unlikely choice as one of our favorite fragrances for the New Year 2023. It’s a bright and breezy skin scent that opens with a pop of yuzu and soft jasmine with a blend of cutting-edge synthetics adding a musky and milky edge. It is surprisingly easy to wear, calming, luminous and as the name suggests familiar but futuristic. Notes: Aqual™ Yuzu HE, Hexyl Acetate (MANE Biotech); Jasmin absolute, Mugane™, Milky Skin Accord; Moss Accord, Vinyl Gaiacol (MANE Biotech), Orcanox™-Michelyn

  • LATONYA GIPSON-BOWMAN says:

The video was very helpful and the write up about Rehab, has me very interested and I would love to win this one. Resetting, or a new beginning is what I want. Thank you for the opportunity

  • Steven’s video was very informative and I love how he uses his experiences to really help you relate to the fragrance.

I’ve been dying to get some initio fragrances and I thought it was cool how Michelyn explained the hedione that is in their fragrances.

  • Michelyns introduction of these 3 all sound stunning. The description of Champagne Royale’s effervescent nature sounds like that of a champagne bottle being opened. This sounds like a beautiful fragrance to be start the new year with! Stevens video illustrated that Initio’s Rehab is bright, cheerful, and optimistic. I wish to try this fragrance to start the new year. I would love to win Initio’s Rehab. Thanks for the opportunity! Xx Ct, USA

  • Awesome fragrances! To me my favorite from the three would be Navitus Champagne Royal. A fantastic party fragrance

  • My choice is a 50ml bottle of The Ghost in the Shell. I loved Steven’s professionalism in his video review. It was absolutely perfect and helpful. Michelyn’s introduction was really lovely and it was a beautiful moment reading it. I loved all the details. I live in Trzebnica, Poland, EU.

  • New years is about new beginnings I agree with Michelyn. Ghost in a shell love the notes. Steven’s review about rehab had me interested. champagne Royales definitely sounds wonderful and festive. 3 Great Picks. My picks would be Rehab, Ghost in a shell, Champagne. Thank you for this Chance USA

  • Emmanuel Jimenez says:

My choice is Navitus Parfums Champagne Royale.
I loved Steven’s review and totally agree with him, even though I don’t know the smell, I definitely feel it’s the type of perfume that boosts all your feelings when wearing it and makes you feel like you’re in fact celebrating something. Effervescent notes accompanied with the citrus and adding this energetic vibe from the ginger as well, is all we need if we wanna start things off with the right foot! Thanks for the opportunity.

  • iktherpiu99 says:

My pick is Navitus Parfums Champagne Royale.
I loved Steven’s review and totally agree with him. Even though I haven’t smelled it, the notes on this one definitely makes me think it’s the type of fragrance that boosts up the way you feel and gets you in the vibe of celebrating something! Citrus, effervescent and energetic vibes is what I expect!
    Thanks for the opportunity.

  • Wow, these sound like some popping fragrance choices, perfect for marching into the new year. I really appreciate Michelyn’s mini-lesson about Hedione in her introduction of Initio Rehab. The science of fragrance and its connection to our emotion, memories, and pheromones is an exciting subject. I also love how Steven related Initio Rehab to his own philosophy of resetting your mental state every now and then as a form of self-therapy. I use fragrances as a relaxation tool each and every day. I have a selection to calm me, to help me sleep, and to transport me to other places. I absolutely love the power of fragrance to do all these things. I could ramble on, but I’ll stop. If I were selected as a winner, I think I would have to go with the one that triggered my rant: Initio Rehab . I live in North Carolina, USA.

  • I love and support Steven in every way I can. Love the scents he has created! He’s always so thorough with explaining how fragrances are. I’ve blind bought a couple because of him and wasn’t let down. I’ll always go to him for honesty. I’ve smelled Rehab and it was decent. But Royale has definitely been one I’ve eyed a few times. If I were to be chosen that’s what I’d choose. Much love from PA USA

  • Very exquisite and elegant fragrances. Steven does an amazing job describing all of them. I’ve come to love Initio line. I am very much interested in getting to know Navitus and Etat Libre D’Orange

  • Thank You guys for doing these giveaways! I think all three of these brands and fragrances are amazing and it is definitely hard to choose between them! If I HAD to choose, I think I would choose Initio’s Rehab – only because I need some healing vibes after the year we had in 2022…The way Steven describes it as being a healing fragrance, really enticed me! I have to thank Steven at Redolessence and you wonderful folks at CaFleureBon again and I hope everyone has a wonderful 2023!

  • ramsesperez52 says:

I have been dying to get one of Initio’s fragrances so Rehab is my bottle of choice to win. Like Steve said, I like that rehab is cheerful and optimistic. Also, having the heroine note and me learning that it releases pheromones in women has really taught me something new today.

  • I have tried ghost in the shell which is the one I’ll choose if i’m like enough to win. I like the muskiness describe by both the editor and the fact that it’s a soft skin with a milky touch to it.
    Greentings from Italy

  • I enjoy watching Redolessence for fragrance reviews. I would be happy with any of the fragrances up for the giveaway but I am planning on purchasing Initio Rehab. Thanks for the giveaway

  • Brad Woolslayer says:

I enjoyed the concept of this giveaway as we start the year 2023 with fresh beginnings. It was good to read the short reviews of each fragrance by Michelyn and watch Steven give his take on each one. Rehab especially caught my attention and I’d love to win a bottle of Initio Rehab. I live in Maryland USA.

  • I really appreciate the detailed explanation of The Ghost in a shell and it’s connect to manga.
Musky skin scent with jasmine yes please
    USA

  • I’ve been subbed to Steven for a while, and loved his introduction to Ghost in the Shell! I always appreciate how descriptive he is with his reviews.

I had no idea that the Hedonist collection was based on hedione! I love reading up on the more technical aspects of perfumery, and reading Michelyn’s bit on hedione was quite interesting. And of course, I’m a huge anime/manga lover so Ghost in the Shell by ELDO would be my pick!

  • All three are excellent choices but I think Rehab is my favorite. I sampled the fragrance and ultimately put it on my wishlist. I like Steven’s interpretation of the name Rehab as a new beginning. I would love to win a bottle. ~Indiana

  • Allyn Williamson says:

Rehab is my pick. It sounds the most interesting, especially with the use of hedione. Steven always speaks highly of this one. I like the idea that the scent evokes new and fresh beginnings. I would love a chance to try it! Thanks

  • Gladys Rivera says:

Rehab will be my pick for New Years. Its essence invokes brightness and sophistication.

  • Victor Belmares says:

I’m 60 never won anything in my life hopefully Steven picks me he has great taste in cologne

  • Bennie Johnson says:

Wow… all three of these sound like amazing fragrances and I actually own a bottle of Champagne Royale (great stuff!). I’ve always wanted to get a full bottle of Rehab, the lavender and hedione are both calming and uplifting notes. Great review Steven and congrats on your subs!

  • Hello to everyone and Happy New Year! I’m new to the fragrance world, but already enjoying it a lot. Very happy to have found Steven’s youtube channel, and now this site. Love the very positive and uplifting vibe. Initio Rehab has been on my shortlist for awhile and I would love to start the new year off by winning that. Good luck to all.

  • Ryan Miller says:

Love the article! Would love to pick up a bottle of Rehab! The video was a great break down and the article was an easy read.

  • scentscientist says:

Michelyn’s introduction was quite nice, and Steven’s video review was great. I enjoyed that Steven brought the scent profile of Rehab to life with his description, but if I was so lucky to be chosen in the giveaway I’d have to choose: Etat Libre d’Orange The Ghost in the Shell

  • Yes, Michelyn, new beginnings bring new adventures. I liked the “pop of yuzu” mentioned in Ghost in the Shell, so, if lucky, it would be my pick. I enjoyed Steven’s description of Rehab as “cheerful”. Happy New Year! Mich USA

  • Anson MacColl says:

Thanks for a chance at the giveaway! Rehab would be my choice, I currently own 3 from Initio and Rehab is tops on the lost of future pick ups! Thanks for the opportunity!

  • If you are looking for good & positive energy Steven is the go to person.Whenever I want positive vibes & need to know what’s new in the fragrance world he is one of the ones I check for
I would love to try Champagne Royale been hearing so many good things about it.
Happy New Year wishing you all the best

  • Claude Flowers says:

All three of these fragrances sound awesome. I would love to try Initios rehab, definitely sounds like something up my alley. I love what you all do and the collaboration with Steven as well! Great work

  • Steven baba soft and clear way to describe fragrances. I am happy that he is close to get 200k subscribers. Great content as usual for him, and the folks at Cafleurebon.

As many people, having up and downs is part of life. Sometimes you need a hug, a word, support. Sometimes, a smell that brings peace, calmness, is all you need. That’s what I think of Initio Parfums Prives Rehab as a fragrance of choice in this giveaway.

    Than you so much. From
    Massachusetts.

  • fragrantkarma says:

I hope we all have better New Year, more peaceful, kind and full of blessings
Fragrances definitely helps to us to recharge and embrace new beginnings and in both Steven’s video review and Michelyn’s introduction I liked all three Fragrances, but Rehab by Initio Parfums Prives Rehab sounds like I would be enjoying for sure . Hedione interesting interesting to me sense Michelyn said in introduction that :
“In 2015, the science journal NeuroImage published a study in which Hedione was found to stimulate the limbic areas of the brain in women which are responsible for the release of pheromones. After all, Rehab is part of the Hedonist collection. ”
    Love Irish BLESSINGS.
    Greetings from USA , FL

  • Both Steven and Michelyn’s reviews were very descriptive and helped me to get a general idea without smelling any of these fragrances before. Really surprised to see Rehab as a tobacco note as described by Steven despite being a fresh and clean scent which makes me even more interested in smelling it myself. Would love to have a bottle of Rehab if I were to win, from USA.

  • Liana Ohanyan says:

Very usefull info, thanks, out of these I love Initio Rehab, the unique lavanda scent in it

  • Even though Steven made a great case for the effervescent notes in the Navitus I’ll have to go with the Initio as my preference for winning if I am so lucky. Who can resist the neuroImage data about Hedione? Must try!!
Thank you for the reviews and opportunity.

I love how all three of these fragrances are described but I am most interested in trying The Ghost in the Shell!! As a “skin scent” lover I would be able to wear it with confidence!

  • Steven aleays the best to present frag. 3 amazing scent I’d love to add to my collection. Etat libre one is of my favourite brand

  • ianbradleyandrews says:

Wow these sounds great. Both Steven and michelyn make the nativus sound incredible but they make the initio sound more complex. If I win, I’d like to Tru the initio rehab. I live in Indiana

  • These fragrances are all amazing, and both Steven and Michelyn did a great job of informing us of how they smell. I think that I most of all would like to win the bottle of Ghost in the Shell by Etat Libre d’Orange. Thanks.

    I reside in the EU.

  • Steven is a joy to watch and learn from, and is according to me one of the best fragrance youtubers out there. Michelyn’s introductions to these stellar fragrances was also great, and together with the video reviews by Steven, piqued my interest, to say the least.

If I were lucky enough to win, I would want to recieve the bottle of Ghost in the Shell by Etat Libre d’Orange. I love both the manga and the animated movie so I hope the perfume is just as great.

    Writing from Sweden/EU.

  • Michelyn’s introduction was very informative (I had no idea about hedione and the release of female pheromones) and Steven was very detailed and thorough in his note breakdown and personal impressions, as always.
I would love to get The Ghost in the Shell, if I luckily won. The pick me up effect and clean, musky composition sound fantastic.
    Writing from EU.

  • Tamsin Sheedy says:

I’ve always wanted a bottle of rehab! Love lavender fragrances, but the others sounds so amazing too! Thanks for hosting give away it makes for such a beautiful post Christmas, Christmas present to whoever wins ☺️ ❤️

  • suggests familiar but futuristic. Notes: Aqual™ Yuzu HE, Hexyl Acetate (MANE Biotech); Jasmin absolute, Mugane™, Milky Skin Accord; Moss Accord, Vinyl Gaiacol (MANE Biotech), Orcanox™-Michelyn. I am intrigued by the jasmine and skin accord. A beautiful description by Michelyn of how hedione was used in the 1960s. Steven reviews always descriptive and just great to watch. If I am lucky to win I would love to win Etat libre d’orange Ghost in a Shell. Thanks a million from the United Kingdom

  • The Ghost in A Shell takes its name from the cyber punk Manga series, and may seem like an unlikely choice as one of our favorite fragrances for the New Year 2023. It’s a bright and breezy skin scent that opens with a pop of yuzu and breezy jasmine with a blend of cutting-edge synthetics adding a musky and milky edge. Steven review always informative and honest. If I am successful like to win Etat libre d’orange Ghost in a Shell. Thanks a lot from the UK

  • Thank you for your wishes, best of luck to all of you 🙂

    ☆ Navitus Parfums Champagne Royale
There are two Navitus Parfums I have , Vivamor and Serenade .Vivamor smells a bit like Pineapple Upside Down Cake with saffron.Serenade reminds me of Chocolate Ganache Cognac Cake, with candied orange peel on top.
Michelyn and Steven co-review of Raised Spirits made me think ofone of our most popular wedding cake, White Champagne Cake , with Natural Butter Cream, macerated plums , and real Rose Water
A lot of famous perfumers worked with Navitus,
Champagne Royale is made by Julien Rasquinet , I wonder what they cooked , a wedding cake and champagne fragrance, , or something else. Jorge Lee did great with Vivamor and Serenade
    ☆Initio Parfums Prives Rehab
There are two Initio Parfums I know now , and really like, Oud for Happiness, and Side Effect.
When I think of Oud for Happiness ,i’m thinking about Space Cake , with lots of ginger, you can get in most coffee shops in Netherlands, and now in some states in US.
The other Initio Parfums fragrance i know is Side Effect, smells similar to Vanilla Bean Bundt Cake , drizzled with Rum.
I’m a bit suspicious about the pheromones like effect of hedione, but I really like the versatility ,sophistication and the cozy vibe coming from Rehab
☆ Etat Libre d’Orange The Ghost in the Shell
Since I sampled the fragrance after I read Nicoleta Tomsa review , and The Ghost in the Shell does not smell the same way it smells to Michelyn and Steven. The freshness from the yuzu is there , but not the jasmine, the smell is like a big fruit salad, bananas, apples, pears and something plasticky i also smell. Maybe it comes from the “cutting edge synthetics” , I’m not sure.
I actually quite like The Ghost in the Shell, it’s not a challenging fragrance, but the way it smells on me , is not calming or relaxing either , more like clubbing .
I’ll be happy to win Initio Parfums Prives Rehab
Appreciate Michelyn introductions , Steven reviews, and the giveaway campaign

  • These are all great options, and both of you fleshed them out with much detail in your respective reviews. I totally agree with Steven about Etat Libre d’Orange being avant-garde, which is much appreciated.

I would like to win the bottle of Ghost in the Shell by Etat Libre d’Orange for this reason. They are very experimental and I can’t wait to see myself how Ghost in the Shell performs on me. Thanks a ton for this giveaway.

    I live in the EU.

  • I much appreciate Michelyn’s introductions of these three fragrances, Steven short reviews and the awesome giveaway. I assume they are all great, but I would most of all want to win Ghost in the Shell by Etat Libre d’Orange. To me, it sounds like a second-skin-perfume, which is great as a dumb reach for me.

    Thanks a million from EU.

  • Michelyn finds Initio Prives Rehab to be a great new year choice, with its clean, fresh, somewhat spicy Fougere-like fragrance that also incorporates hedione, made famous by Eau Sauvage. Steven also finds Rehab refreshing but also detects spicy-tobacco vibe. My choice is Initio Rehab. I am in US.

  • I’d love to win Rehab. I love the scent and the brand. Michelyn’s reviews were straight to the point on these three. Both Steven’s video and Michelyn’s review make me want to own all three.

  • All three fragrances sounds amazing! I tried a tiny sample of rehab and I love it! I love watching Steven describing these fragrances! And Michelyn knows exactly how to win us over with her beautiful and captivating words. I haven’t smelled the other ones but they sounds so festive and uplifting! I would be happy with any ot them!!!!! I’m from Massachusetts, US.

  • Happy New Year Steven and to all of you. And thanks Steven for all the recommendations in 2022…I got some of them and really enjoyed them.
All the 3 sound wonderful but for me then Champagne Royal and the Rehab seem amazing.. I hope to win one of them if not then I hope to buy them if I can afford them and enjoy them. The Italian lemon and ginger in Champagne Royal..wow..sounds great.

  • Steven : The professional way of describing each of the perfumes is majestic that makes you wish you could be there to smell the perfumes. Michelyn The way to introduce each of these perfumes to start this New Year 2023 to reflect on positivity and give a new twist to all aspects of life. Happy New Year and much success to Steven and. Michelyn : I would love to have the opportunity to try Navitus Parfums Champagne Royale. I am from USA New Jersey.

  • It’s been a long time since I’ve tried anything from ELdO. I hope to break the ice with this prize of The Ghost in the Shell.
    Thank you! Europe

  • Happy New Year! I couldn’t agree more with Steven’s mantra of tackling each day with a fresh, new mindset. It is one of the reasons why I started collecting perfumes: so I could experience something new through fragrance instead of wearing the same thing every day regardless of mood.
Although both Champagne Royale and Rehab carry notes that feel festive and fresh, with champagne, lavender or sandalwood, for 2023 the perfume that I’d like to accompany me through the year would be Ghost in the Shell. I’m intrigued by the combination of synthetics and skin notes mentioned by Michelyn, but mostly by the uplifting nature of the perfume. I love ELDO as a house that takes risks, and can’t wait to try their take on such a fresh, positive fragrance for this coming year.
For participating in the Ghost in the Shell draw, I’m based in London (UK)

  • Jacob D Savitt says:

Very fun article introductions written by Michelyn- truly a great selection (varied, at that) to ring in the new year. Steven nailed it with this pick as well, and brought Rehab to life for me! Would love a bottle of that one!

  • Happy New Year!
Thanks for the recap of Ghost in the Shell Michelyn! I’ve been interested in this fragrance since I originally heard about it but have not had a chance to sample it yet. I’m a fan of the anime movies and live action that were released so it would be cool to have a bottle of this! As usual, Stephen does a great job at succinctly conveying the feel of each fragrance, I like that he described it as a pick me up fragrance.
I’d love to win Ghost in the Shell!
    Thank you from Canada!

  • That’s quite a list to start a year and the generous giveaways are icing on the cake. Thank you Michelyn for the writeup and it is always nice to see something I love being rated highly by professionals. I’m talking about you beautiful Rehab one of my two favorites from Initio – the other being Side Effect. It must be that Hedione that keeps me going at it. I also found Steve’s video review for it in line with what it makes me feel. I was so tempted to choose Champagne Royale but will have to pick Rehab for the giveaway since I’m running low on it. Than you for all you do and the opportunities you give us and Happy New Year and Happy Resetting 🙂

  • ThatMulattoDude says:

The past few years, the new fresh beginning that Steven and Ms. Michelyn are referring to has been particularly appropriate. It has been a rough few years for many folks physically, emotionally, and mentally. What better way to reset than a new fragrance that evokes the feeling of new beginnings? I much enjoyed the briefs penned by Ms. Michelyn and Steven’s video gives us of a more in-depth sense of what these fragrances offer. If I were to win, I’d choose Rehab. The scent profile of many Initio offerings has always tugged at my wallet strings but I have since held back. Appreciate the giveaway opportunity, many thanks for the generosity. Blessings from Va, USA!

  • Tyler J Price says:

Steven makes great content! Love the detail in his video and the care he gives in explaining the emotional reaction the fragrances evoke in him. Hope he gets to 200K soon!

Michelyns idea of using scents as a reminder to celebrate, rest and recharge really resonates with me and it’s something I intend to strive for this year.

All the fragrances sound fantastic but Initios Rehab stood out. Love the notes and Stevens words about it’s uplifting mood really spoke to me.

  • I found the information about the hedione very interesting. I love the reviews and comments about fragrances that you can find here and also in Steven’s channel. I think the way to review the fragrances is very professional and informative. From the selection of fragrances definitely I would pick Initio Rehab.

  • Liked the new information we got with this article! Thanks you Steven to letting us know about this website, love the way it looks. If I would win, I will gladly accept the initio rehab, i have been dying to try perfume from this company, and Michelyn did a great job on the description!

  • carlos_lager says:

Thank you both for the both for the suggestions, Steven and Michelyn. I totaly agree with what Steven said about “The Ghost in the Shell” being a lift me up fragrance. I love wearing fragrances that put me in a good mood and having sampled this one, i can totaly see that.
If I were to win I would love the bottle of Ghost in the Shell.
    Thank you for the draw!
    Greetings from Austria (EU)

  • They all sound delicious and a great way to start off the new year! To me, Steven really sold Rehab for me, perhaps due to the connotations also attached to the name even if I don’t know as much about the fragrance. However I will say The Ghost in A Shell sounds amazing, particularly due to that jasmine, as I love jasmine in all its forms. That ‘skin accord’ that Steven mentioned sounds fascinating. Michelyn’s introductions I feel were concise but descriptive. I liked that context about the study linking Hedione with the limbic area of women’s brains, and I was really intrigued where she wrote ‘a musky and milky edge’ as a descriptor. I would like to win The Ghost in A Shell (UK based).

  • Wow – as usual, great introductions by Michelyn and video reviews by Steven. When Michelyn mentioned Kir Royale, I was wondering where I had heard it – turns out it was on a Netflix series called Emily in Paris, with a bubbly lady in Paris talking about her ideas on it. So Michelyn’s introduction right away made sense. And then she talked about Hedione in Rehab, and it’s pheromone like properties – now I wonder how many gentlemen are forgetting their resolutions and making a sort of beeline for Dior Sauvage or other Hedione perfumes. All three perfumes are fantastic choices. I loved Steven’s video review of Rehab, where he talks about it being akin to starting with a tabula rasa, a clean slate. So Rehab will be my first choice, were I to win this draw. Loved Michelyn’s introductions and Steven’s video reviews. Thanks as always. I am a Redolessence subscriber and am in the USA.

  • I really enjoy Navitus Parfums. I have Serenade, Aubade (known as Lyrik now), The Key, XO Brandy, Siesta Drive, Emblaze, Aweigh, Empyreal, & Divine Aphrodisiac. I like all of them. Would love to have Champagne Royale to my collection. Rehab seems nice as well.

  • These are some great picks to ring in the new year. They are celebratory but somehow still grounding and optimistic. I enjoyed the description of the Hedione note in Initio Rehab. I knew of its amazing resemblance to jasmine absolute but didn’t realize it also triggered pheromone release. I would love to win either Rehab or ELdO The Ghost in the Shell. MD, USA.

  • Would love to try or win Champagne Royal out of the 3. Love Steven’s passion and have been following the the channel for years but have admittedly been a holdout for trying or sampling Navitus. Plus I love the note of Plum! Crossing my fingers. I live in Pittsburgh, PA, USA

  • Shibuichi2000 says:

I always like to read other people’s opinions about things I experience – movies I see, perfumes I wear, books I read, etc. I don’t get to be as lucky as being familiar with all the fragrances Michelyn and Steven so kindly review, but this time we 3 shared the experience that is wearing the Ghost in a shell (which I’d also like to win) – first word that came to mind was otherworldly, which matches the futuristic atribute Michelyn assigned to it.
    EU, here 🙂

  • Arionna Stanley says:

I love discovering new homes to try I’m lucky my spouse shared a fragrance love as much as me and Rehab will be a great addition to his collection based on the review. Off to hunt down samples

  • The only Ghost in the Shell I heard about is the movie with Scarlett Johansson. I have not watched the anime, but I will have to look into it now. I find the idea rather interesting – to draw inspiration from a manga series.
    I am in EU. Thanks!

    Navitus Parfums Champagne Royale
I’m a strict teetotaller, and I don’t drink alcohol at all , I could be a fragrance nurd , but I have no idea what Kir Royale cocktail is. The fragrance is indeed slightly aldehidic , and fresh in the opening, but it changes a lot, to warmer , fruity base , dominated by cinnamon and some conifer aromas.

Initio Parfums Prives Rehab , I’m more with Steven, tobacco , specifically cherry pipe tobacco, is the most dominant notes on my skin , pink pepper too.
Hedione could be invented, and used in Dior in the 60s , but Rehab is up to date, modern fragrance. Lavender is present too , but more in the background.

Etat Libre d’Orange Ghost in The Shell

The Shell ( and not A Shell) is the correct transcription , yesterday i messaged Steven on Instagram about the error, but he never saw it .
Only Etat Libre D’Orange could release a fragrance named, and inspired by one of the greatest cyberpunk franchises, and seinen mangas ever. In this world Ghost in the Shell, and Masamune Shirow are considered royalties.
I guess the fragrance smells very different on Michelyn and Steven, because on me Ghost in the Shell smells futuristic, like I’m into the the cyberpunk franchise , and honestly hard to describe. The best I could do, is if you put banana ice cream, or some again banana dessert in a plastic cup , and leave it for 20 minutes on a scorching sun. If you come back, and sniff the almost melted mixture of the plastic cup, and the banana dessert = Ghost in the Shell to me.

I’d like to win Rehab by Initio Parfums Prives
Both profiles I already follow, @waltherp99bg
    Thanks a lot

  • I would love to win Rehab because it is perfect to ring in the year. This fragrance moves me and everyone around me. Keep up the good work, it’s great when you can always get to know new fragrances…. top!

As soon as I read Michelyn write “spicy Fougere-like” I knew Initio Rehab is the one for me. I absolutely love fougere fragrances for their fresh herbaceous qualities. Often a barbershop quality too, which is right up my alley! Curious how it compares with the likes of Amouage Bracken Man… Steven mentioned hints of tobacco & bergamot as well which highly intrigues my nose; to reset, reinvigorate, and tackle whatever the day may bring. For that, I’d love me a bottle of Initio Rehab. Good luck to all, and thank you for the opportunity!

  • All 3 sound interesting. Am especially intrigued by the ‘etat libre d’orange’…and have been craving the rehab for a while. Nice selection.

  • Thanks for the 2023 recommendations Michelyn and Steven and a Happy New year to everyone at CaFleureBon!

Considering how tumultuous 2022 has been for me, I think it would be good idea to try some amazing new fragrances to start 2023 with a clear mind and fresh enthusiasm.

It was very interesting to read about Hedione and it’s effect on a woman’s brain. I’m wondering if this is why I find it so sexy when my partner wears it! I’ll have to find out which other perfumes use this interesting note!

I don’t drink myself, but I do enjoy a boozy fragrance! I’m familar with Rum, Bourbon and Whiskey notes, but should give Champagne a try this year. I can see how this would smell fresh and effervescent as this is exactly what I expect!

However, as a fan of manga and anime, Ghost in the Shell is very high on my wishlist and I am eager to smell the juxtaposition of natural and synthetic notes in this perfume!

I would love to win ELDO’s Ghost in the Shell!
    Greetings from the UK!

  • I’ve heard great things about Initio as a brand and Rehab sounds divine! I like how Michelyn described it as fresh and spicy, as I’ve been craving that lately. I also like how Steven described it as having a spicy tobacco vibe, as that’s a note I enjoy. If I am lucky enough to win, I’d choose Rehab. I’m in MN, USA.

I love Michelyn and Steven’s unexpected choices. Happy to have learned on what occasion hedione was first used, thank you Michelyn! Only the Champagne Royale seems to showcase a straightforward correlation with the New Year’s celebrations, the other two perfumes evoke the thoughts of fresh starts, new beginnings and new opportunities in a more metaphorical way. Rehab sounds amazing with the bergamot, lavender, sandalwood, cedarwood and patchouli. Steven’s enthusiasm about Rehab feels infectious! However, I have been intrigued by The Ghost in the Shell for a while and since I have lots of admiration for the unleashed creativity of ELDO, and deep personal memories around the eponymous manga series, the idea of a a bright and breezy skin scent with super innovative synthetics which add a musky and milky edge feels really appealing to me. I appreciate how Steven describes it as soft, smooth and subtle skin scent. I would like to win The Ghost in the Shell. Thank you from the EU

Every day I try to recharge, and enjoy my time
-Navitus Vivamor i own , all-purpose, pleasing all year round fragrance I wear on regular basis.
Champagne Royale is more party like, it doesn’t smell childish, I like the way it develops , especially the plum and cedarwood
    – Etat Libre D’Orange Ghost in The Shell
All I know about The Ghost in The Shell , is the recent movie with Scarlett Johansson in the lead role .
“It’s a bright and breezy skin scent that opens with a pop of yuzu and breezy jasmine with a blend of cutting-edge synthetics adding a musky and milky edge”
Ok you got my attention.Like usual for Etat Libre d’Orange different element’s of surprise are present .
    – Initio Parfums Prives Rehab
I know 4 Initio Parfums fragrances Side Effect , Oud for Greatness , Atomic Rose and Psychedelic Love , and also in my possession is 7.5ml travel sprayer of Side Effect , my favorite. Now all Initio travel sprays are 10ml , previously they were 7.5ml .
Rehab is right up my alley kind of fragrance, not overly aggressive, cozy , spicy fragrance with really round up characteristics. I love tobacco fragrances , and I hope like Steven, I’ll smell the spicy tobacco in Rehab
Because of Steven and Michelyn, I saw myself wearing Rehab with a combo of tailor made Ermenegildo Zegna fabrics Pinstripe Herringbone Suit Browngray , light violet check dress shirt will instantly made me look refined and sharp.
Initio Parfums Prives Rehab would be great
Thank you Michelyn , Steven , Navitus Parfums , Fine Fragrances and Etat Libre d’Orange

  • I love how Steven described the common characteristics of all three featured fragrances: capable of raising our spirits, starting things off a clean slate, and being celebratory in nature. Based on Steven’s mini-reviews, I have been the most drawn toward Rehab and The Ghost in the Shell. I love the idea »Every day is a new day«which helps us mentally recharge ourselves. After reading Michelyn’s mini-lesson about Hedione, Rehab immediately landed on my list to try. 🙂 Such interesting background information!
Thank you for such a generous giveaway. If I were lucky enough, I would be more than happy to win The Ghost in the Shell.
    Greetings from Slovenia, EU.

  • All 3 scents sound wonderful to bring in New Year!
I have sampled Rehab before but Stevens review had me wanting to try them all.
And the way that you described Ghost in A Shell has me interested. I want to try all three
My choice though if I have to choose will be Rehab by Initio.
    USA

  • What I liked about Steven’s video review is that he summarised 3 main points of the New Year: festivity (Champagne Royale), brightness (The Ghost in the Shell), rejuvenation and new beginning (Rehab). This is everything you need and these fragrances are perfect choices, beautiful trio. It was nice that in Michelyn’s introductions there were some additional facts about the ingredients and stories which let us have deeper knowledge about the fragrances.
My choice is Etat Libre D’Orange The Ghost in the Shell.
    I live in Lithuania, EU

  • As always Stephen and Michelyn are the dream team. The whole idea of rehab intrigues me and I loved learning about Hedione effect on women. Will use it on date night with my wife. It’s sample worthy and I am going to try the entire Hedonist collection

  • I loved these reviews by Michelyn and Steven.
They both 3 look amazing fragrances to try on 2023. I think that Initio makes amazing fragrances and this Rehab is no exeption, in fact it is one of the best clean fragrances out there. I am hugely intrigued by Champagne Royale and Ghost in the Shell, I hope I get them soon.
I would love to win Champagne Royale by Navitus Parfums.

Thanks for the fun video Steven! HAppy New YEar to you.

I love the positivity that Rehab and Ghost in a Shell bring and I woould love to win either of these.

Steven is a pros pro. His New Years well wishes come off genuine. His descriptions of the fragrances are detailed. He’s transformed himself into a very good spokesman, no matter the brand.
I’d choose Champagne Royale if I won.
Always something to learn in a Michelyn article. The Magna series origins of Ghost in a Shells name was interesting. The breakdown of the effects of Hedione was eye opening to say the least.

  • Thank you both for the New Year selections.

I found Michelyn’s description of Initio Parfums Prives Rehab particularly interesting; I appreciated the insight about Hedione’s development and research on the chemical’s impact on the brain. Cool!

I also enjoyed Steven’s video which started with sincere well-wishes as we move into this new year. I’m all for trying some fragrances that feel optimistic, celebratory, relaxing, or centering. Also, in the doldrums of winter, I’m reaching for those that just always put me in a good mood.

Speaking of, The Ghost in the Shell hadn’t struck me as jovial, but I’ll be thinking of Steven’s take on it next time I wear it. I just had the chance to sample this fragrance before the holiday and wore the sample again this morning, so I’m going to finish it quickly. The Ghost in the Shell strikes me as an ideal summer fragrance, similar to Chatillon Lux Agua Fresca, but playing up the ’90s musks, but it can also shine on a gray, cold day. It makes me think of what a skin scent would be for an android—neon and organic in equal measure. (I also like it’s thematic appeal to Hyperion, which is stellar.)

I’m in the midwest, USA. I’d love to win the 50ml bottle of The Ghost in the Shell. Thanks and Happy New Year!

  • I’d like to thank Michelyn for the lovely 2023 wishes , let’s have some new , and keep the old bonds ,both characterized by deep affection, respect, loyalty, and healthy attachments in our hearts
Speaking of the 3 co-curated New Year 2023 perfumes
    – Navitus Parfums Champagne Royale
Aubade (Lyrik) is collaboration between Julien Rasquinet and Dominique Ropion is the best Navitus fragrance I’ve smelled , and now own. I’m glad to know Champagne Royale isis again made by Julien Rasquinet , with a different profile of course.
Delicately sweet, festive , cozy fragrance anyone could wear , and enjoy all year long
    -Intio Parfums Prives Rehab
I own Oud for Greatness , considered by me , and many more , the best one in Initio Parfums catalog , and I’m sure I’ll also enjoy Rehab.
The first is formal occasions only fragrance , the way i wear it at least, but Rehab is more versatile, and easy to wear , from day time family gatherings , to going out with friends , or weddings . The fresh start, and citrucy-spicy base , with even maybe some hints of tobacco Steven told us about , all i find really tempting.
Long lasting fragrances are always welcome , and I think all Initio fragrances do fall in the same category.
    – Etat Libre d’Orange= Experimentum Crucis, fragrance I can’t get enough of.
I’ve always been a fan of Etienne de Swardt i,and his self-confidence.
Ghost in the Shell is steampunk , futuristic manga/anime kind of fragrance I had to try .
I think it starts the way Steven and Michelyn said it starts – zesty and luminous , but then I believe it turns metallic , woody and spicy , and even smoky in the base.
I’ll be happy to win elaborate fragrance like Rehab
Again thanks for the lovely wishes, and the draw

I loved Steven’s video review and Michelyn’s introduction for 3 of the best fragrances to bring in the New Year. I think I was really interested in hearing Steven and reading about Michelyn’s review about Etat Libre D’Orange The Ghost in A Shell smooth and subtle milky skin accord. I’ve heard from things about Initio Parfums Prive Rehab being a bright and effervescent fragrance with lavender and sandalwood that gives off an unlisted tobacco vibe with fougere like qualities. I think Navitus Parfums Champagne Royale with the bright and sparkling qualities of champagne, aldehydes, citrus notes, and plum would definitely be a great start to the new year. I am from the USA. If I win I would choose Navitus Parfums Champagne Royale.

  • I’m not getting any younger, and some rejuvenation would do me good 🙂 Good luck to all in the new year, with less stress, better health and more smiles on our faces.

    Navitus Parfums Champagne Royale
I’m always ready for a party , spicy , woody deep and rich fragrances done right ✅
Also positive emotions are part of the festive sensation coming from Champagne Royale .

    Initio Parfums Prives Rehab
Fragrance with high compliment factor , with or without the pheromone releasing properties of Hedione. Being a vain man I need to smell good, but also compliments are important to me.
With Rehab I’ll get a lot of positive attention, smelling amazing. The sandalwood and the spicy tobacco elements are give the fragrance modern vibe , making it more enigmatic.
I’ve smelled Rehab on a blotter only , not on skin. The way it smelled on the blotter , is the way Steven think of it, with tobacco. On skin it could smell differently.

Etat Libre d’Orange Ghost in The Shell
ELDO fragrances are so unpredictable, I’ve smelled most of the Cafleurebon reviewed ELDO’s , and most of the time the Cafleurebon contributor wrote one thing, and I’m perceiving something else.
Remarkable People for example somehow reminds me of Haribo grapefruit gummy bears, and I was expecting something …. completely different.
Inspired by a famous manga , that’s so ELDO. The clean skin milky accord makes Ghost in The Shell great for a first date .
Initio Parfums Side Effect 7.5ml atomizer is in my possession, and I’ll be happy to win Rehab
    Exciting giveaway, USA
    Regards

I hope to win a bottle of Navitus Parfums “Champagne Royale” for multiple reasons, e.g. I want to become a lot more familiar with all of the fragrances made by Rasquinet. Steven’s review caused me to be intrigued to try it, e.g. I want to see what the champagne accord is like and in combination with the cedar and the citrus. Also, Michelyn’s review gave me more insight when she said that it “is the scented equivalent of a Kir Royale”. I live in the U.S.A.

  • Navitus Parfums Champagne Royale
    Who said Kir Royale?
Technically Champagne Royale sounds more like the popular lately twist of the classical Kir Royale called Plum Kir Royale, or just Plum Royale. It’s basically Kir Royale with additional Plum shrub . One or the other, I’m thinking luxury family vacation in Switserland , me drinking Kir Royale/Plum Royale , and enjoying every second of it

    Initio Parfums Prives Rehab
    Slightly different opinions:
    Steven -> spicy tobacco
Michelyn -> fougere like with more lavender, and no tobacco
Rehab is a great fragrance, and a bit underated. On some people it’s spicy, woody aromatic, with tobacco, exactly the way Steven described it. On me there’s no tobacco, and it smells similar to Lavender French Hard Candy from L’Ami Provencal i purchase for many, many years from Amazon.

Etat Libre d’Orange Ghost in the Shell
Etat Libre d’Orange are famous with (sometimes a lot….) quirky fragrances, I do believe Ghost in Shell is no exception. Futuristic fragrance with yuzu, cutting-edge synthetics, and manga inspirations

Thank you Michelyn and Cafleurebon for the effort during the past year, and the awesome fragrances I discovered here . I sampled a lot of them , and even both 15 😉
I’d love to win the “Lady Boss” style Initio Parfums Prives Rehab

    Greetings everyone
    1. Navitus Parfums Champagne Royale
I watch Mr Gavrielatos videos on Youtube for many years, but Navitus fragrances i have never smelled. Champagne Royale is more fizzy than boozy , and also cheerful
    2. Initio Parfums Privés Rehab
I visited both Initio Parfums Prives and Etat Libre d’Orange boutiques yesterday, since both are on walking distance from each other.
My opinion is close to Mr Gavrielatos, rather than to Ms Camen. Rehab is super spicy , it’s almost tingling my nose , with a lot ot tobacco.
    3. Etat Libre D’Orange The Ghost in the Shell
When you visit the boutique on 69 Rue des Archives , you’re greeted with Black and white design, and both Christian and African statues Lol
The Ghost in the Shell i like , but it’s is not so easy to wear.
The start is soft and like peach flavored milk , then comes something soapy , and then the vinyl dollhead skin scent.
Ghost in the Shell for me
Thank you , American living in Paris France

Lovely video review and article! I thought Michelyn’s introduction to Rehab was very interesting, especially learning that it features Hedione, a compound that was found to stimulate the limbic areas of the brain in women which are responsible for the release of pheromones. I am a big fan of jasmine in perfume so I feel like Rehab will be a great fragrance for me. As for Steven’s video review, I thought it was lovely how he painted a picture about how Navitus Champagne Royale conjures up the feeling of clinking champagne, ringing in the new year, convening with friends and wishing for a better happier new year. That sounds like just what the doctor ordered! If I were to win I would choose Rehab by Initio Parfums Prives. I live in the US.
