Electimuss London has garnered recognition for its ability to create fragrances that evoke emotions and tell captivating stories. Among their notable creations, Vanilla Edesia stands as an exquisite olfactory creation, composed by the Fragrance Foundation USA award-winning perfumer Cécile Zarokian.

Cécile Zarokian, elegantly describes Vanilla Edesia’s essence, noting, “Electimuss Vanilla Edesia is built on duality – just like the smell of Vanilla itself which can evoke sweetness and innocence but also has a darker side, spicier, more leathery.” This dualistic nature of vanilla is integral to the fragrance’s unique character. It deftly traverses contrasting facets, creating a multi-dimensional and intriguing sensory experience.

Vanilla, conventionally associated with sweetness and comfort, is redefined within Vanilla Edesia. Zarokian elevates vanilla to new heights, unveiling its manifold dimensions. The fragrance commences with an innocently sweet allure, which gradually gives way to its spicier, leathery alter ego. Electimuss London Vanilla Edesia becomes a captivating narrative, replete with unforeseen twists and turns. In accordance with Zarokian’s vision of abundance and opulence, Electimuss Vanilla Edesia employs a rich and diverse array of ingredients, resulting in an extensive olfactory pyramid. This pyramid incorporates meticulously selected components to contribute to the symphony of scents that unfolds during the fragrance’s development.

Notable ingredients in the composition include cumin, coriander, heliotrope, rose, and cypriol. These elements are carefully blended to impart a spicy, chocolatey, leathery vanilla with subtle animalic nuances. The amalgamation of these ingredients not only enriches the fragrance’s complexity but also ensures a long-lasting and memorable olfactory experience.

I had the privilege of encountering Electimuss London’s fragrance creations on two separate occasions, each providing unique insights into the brand’s philosophy and dedication to their craft. My first encounter occurred at Jovoy Parfums Rares in Mayfair, London. The historical district of Mayfair is renowned for its refinement, making it the ideal setting for Jovoy Parfums Rares, a revered purveyor of exclusive fragrances. Electimuss London’s collaboration with Jovoy underscored their aspiration to be recognized among the world’s elite perfumeries. It was at Jovoy that I gained a deeper appreciation for the brand’s commitment to opulence and complexity. The second encounter in Milan, an annual fragrance fair known for showcasing exceptional and innovative scents. Electimuss London presence at the event was a testament to their commitment to artistry and innovation.

Electimuss London Vanilla Edesia challenges conventional notions of vanilla by presenting all its complex facets. From its sweet and innocent inception to its spicier, leathery depths, Vanilla Edesia offers an ever surprising and sultry experience.

These personal encounters I have described with Electimuss London at Esxence in Milan and Jovoy Parfums Rares in Mayfair, London, provided me with firsthand insights into the brand’s ethos and the embodiment of their fragrant narratives. These encounters underlined Electimuss London’s dedication to creating art in the form of perfumery, and their commitment to offering opulent and intricate scents to fragrance aficionados. Vanilla Edesia is a testament to the brand’s pursuit of excellence in the realm of perfumery and is one of the best creations I have experienced thus far in 2023.

  • This is one I knew I wanted to try as soon as they released it (yet again, I find myself wishing I lived closer to London!) so I’m glad to read Karl’s impressions and live vicariously through him!

It’s so easy to think of vanilla in the context of sweetness and to forget that on it’s own it’s not really sweet. I’m thrilled to read that this explores all of its facets. I particularly like the description of the “spicy, chocolatey, leathery vanilla with subtle animalic nuances” – sounds like an exciting vanilla, for sure! Definitely one to try as soon as I get a chance.

    I’m in the UK.

I am a fan of the multiple facets of vanilla. Karl explained that this fragrance is made to show the multiple facets of vanilla from sweet innocence to deep spicy leathery version. I find that interesting and I am aware of Cecile’s experience of the vanilla note. I would love to try it.

I have many vanilla fragrances but based on the notes and the article I just read, I know none of mine smell like Edesia. The dichotomy of vanilla being sweet and spicy is truly what this fragrance is all about and why I’m dying to try it! You add a leathery touch as well on top and you got a very unique vanilla fragrance on your hands. Cheers from NJ, USA!

  • I don’t like vanilla but I love the perfumes created by Cecile Zarokian. I’ve never been a fan of tobacco, but I’ve been wearing Opus XIV Royal Tobacco Amouage for a month and I can’t live without it, I love it!
Electimuss is a brand that interests me a lot because it collaborates with excellent perfumers and the brand really exudes luxury, power and opulence.

  • Electimuss London Vanilla Edesia has been created by Cecile Zarokian who has created some other popular vanilla fragrances including Nishane Ani. In Electimuss London Vanilla Edesia, Cecile tries to expose different sides of vanilla from including sweet, dark, spicy, and leathery aspects. I am in US.

  • After a while reading note breakdowns begin to all look alike and I often wonder what was done differently with each fragrance. This to me is where Cécile sets herself apart, owning a fee of her creations , she really knows how to tell a story or set a mood through her creations. She is one of my favorites, so anything with her name attached to it I’m interested in…

Hello from Florida, and thank you to Karl for the review!

I’m a fan of Cécile Zarokian’s work (Amouage’s Saffron Hamra is absolutely beautiful), and this gourmand sounds like a hit. I’d love to give Vanilla Edesia a try!

  • As stated in Ms. Zarokian’s quote, vanilla is a material that is all about duality and it is that complex juxtaposition that makes it such an intriguing component of perfumery. As a big fan of Zarokian’s work, I am most interested to see how she has emphasized its multifaceted nature in this scent. I love the idea of the chocolate and leather nuances of it being highlighted. It sounds simply delectable. Best of luck to all. I live in NC, USA.

  • This sounds like a non boring vanilla……..art in perfumery. The duality of this speaks to me. I am not familiar with this brand except via YouTube. I hope to someday visit Jovoy perfume shop. Thanks for the chance. USA.

  • If this is one of Karl’s favorite creations of the year I need to give it a try. I am noticing vanilla everywhere but am looking for something different from the ordinary. I live in the US.

  • The mentioned notes of Leather and Vanilla really appealed to me, they sound amazing, I live in Trzebnica, Poland, EU.

  • What appealed to me about Karl’s review of Electimuss London Vanilla Edesia is how it stands up to conventional notions of vanilla by presenting all its complex facets. From its sweet and innocent presentation to its incorporation of spices and leather. Karl also mentioned how it’s a testament to the brand’s pursuit of excellence in the realm of perfumery. Thank you for the opportunity. From New York, USA.

  • I loved Karl’s description of how Cecile Zarokian brought out the darker and surprising side of vanilla in this fragrance. This is the type of more complex vanilla I enjoy most! I am in the US.

  • “Cécile Zarokian, elegantly describes Vanilla Edesia’s essence, noting, “Electimuss Vanilla Edesia is built on duality – just like the smell of Vanilla itself which can evoke sweetness and innocence but also has a darker side, spicier, more leathery.” This dualistic nature of vanilla is integral to the fragrance’s unique character..”

Interesting intro with Cécile Zarokian own thoughts of vanilla used in Electimuss London Vanilla Edesia. To be fair vanilla could go into multiple directions, from gooey sweet, to smoky, fruity, boozy , leathery and in some cases animalic . If I have to guess Cécile Zarokian used Vanilla Pompona some call Mexican Vanilla. Some Pastry Chefs rarely cook with it , because of its distinctive smoky, cherry and cinnamon nuances.
Karl Topham take on Vanilla Edesia made me think of making Chocolate Ganache Cake, and later on eating it while sitting on a leather couch with burning incense cons next to me. The whole thing is how I imagined Vanilla Edesia.
I own 10ml travel spray of Amber Aquilaria, spectacular opulent boozy vanilla , and I wonder what kind of fragrance Cécile Zarokian cooked for Electimuss London. I know Vanilla Edesia is good in a different way, Karl Topham thinks the same, I’m excited.
Appreciate the review, and the giveaway campaign

  • Hello from Indianapolis IN.
As I’ve said in other comments: I love vanilla fragrances! I can’t wait for the colder seasons to begin wearing them again. Karl seems to say that this has the type of vanilla that I absolutely adore, one that is sweet but can slide into darkness without losing the allure. I’ve never heard of Electimuss before, and look forward to checking out some of their fragrances. Mercurial Cashmere sounds like it may be my second to check out after this one.

  • FragranceIsMe says:

Great review Karl. I can appreciate how you feel Vanilla Edesia challenges conventional notions of vanilla by presenting all its complex facets.
One of my favorite fragrance in my entire collection of 700+ fragrances is Electimuss London’s Imperium. The vanilla in the drydown is one of the best…period!
Now, Vanilla Edesia has fully captured my attention for 3 important reasons:
    1. Cécile Zarokian – One of my favorite perfumers. Ani (X), Tango, and Royal Tobacco are among some of my most treasured fragrances.
    2. Vanilla is one of my favorite notes.
    3. Electimuss London is a quality house. Some of my favorites from this house, in addition to Imperium are Mercurial Cashmere, Trajan, and Aquila Absolute.
Vanilla Edesia is a creation that appears to check off many of the boxes I appreciate when it comes to a fine fragrance. I’m looking forward to this one for sure 🙂

  • I like that by Karl’s description this is a unique vanilla, one showing many of the facets of vanilla. The duality of sweet and innocent and more sensual and leathery is very intriguing. And the other notes helping to bring out these facets and highlight this duality makes Vanilla Edesia sound all the more exciting. Not to mention of course the fact that this is a Cecile Zarokian perfume makes me want to try it even more. Thanks for the generous draw, from the U.S.

  • Being in my top 3 notes in perfumery I own alot of vanilla base perfumes, but my favorite ones are the ones that show the sweet but also dark aspects of the note. Based on Karl’s review i imagine this is along those lines so i am surely going to be seeking this out to try!

  • i am new to the website and my little one submitted my comment prior to me finishing up. i cannot find a way to edit my previous comment so i apologize for the second comment. i will be eagerly awaiting the final pick on this draw! Good luck to all entrants, and thanks to the brand and cafleurebon for the draw.

  • Vanilla Edesia sounds really intriguing! What particularly appeals to me about Karl’s review is the way he eloquently describes the multi-faceted nature of the fragrance. His ability to convey the duality of vanilla, transitioning from innocence to spiciness and leatheriness is curious.

The way he delves into Cécile Zarokian’s intention to redefine vanilla’s commonly perceived sweetness and comfort by exploring its darker, spicier facets, showcases a deep understanding of the artistry behind this fragrance.

    Hello from UK
Jovoy Paris is a legendary place I never been to, the UK boutique in Mayfair in contrast I’ve visited to dozens of times. I actually smelled Vanilla Edesia there ,and I can say it’s special vanilla fragrance, definitely not dessert or candy like. Sweetness is there ,but it’s nowhere near gourmand. I can detect almonds and black tea.
Karl Topham do have a point when he said the whole Electimuss London collection is intricate and opulent. Vanilla Edesia to my taste is second best after Amber Aquilaria – work of art boozy amber i bought late last year.
    Thank you so much

A complex, spicy, and leathery vanilla sounds like my jam. Thanks for the review and greetings from Riga, Latvia.

  • This dual vanilla, developing and fluctuating between sweet and innocent on one side, and deep and spicy on the other, sounds just beautiful. I love fragrances which tell a story and not just present a scent, and Vanilla Edesia seems to do just that. The olfactive pyramid is impressive and I’m particularly interested about the way cumin, leather and cinnamon contribute to the construction of this fragrance. I am sure it’s an absolutely gorgeous, intellectual, sensual experience.

Just like my vanilla story. I started with light vanilla perfumes, such as those from Laura Mercier and Les Senteurs Gourmandes and at the moment I adore Babycat or Vanagloria. As Karl mentioned, it presents different facets of vanilla from innocent and sweet to spicy and leathery. Would love to try this one!. I’m in the US

I rarely participate in the cafleurebon draws, but Karl’s review of Vanilla Edesia did catch my attention, mostly because the author emphasizes the complexity and the duality of the vanilla. I appreciate that the author researches the creator of the fragrance, the brand and the presentation. In particular, I enjoy the promise of a fragrance experience! After all, isn’t the fragrance experience we all long for?
Greetings from Bavaria, now not so Octoberfesty, but a bit more melancholic with crisp and foggy mornings, rustling leaves and promise of winter cold.

  • Karl elaborated on how this fragrance is crafted to reveal the diverse aspects of vanilla, ranging from its sweet innocence to its deep, spicy, and leathery variations. I appreciate the various dimensions of vanilla. I find this concept intriguing, especially considering Cecile’s expertise in working with the vanilla note. New Jersey, USA

  • Nice review Karl! I must confess that I really like everything Ms. Zarokian does, I don’t think anyone can achieve her expertise in making gourmand (and opulent) perfumes. In this case the star is vanilla, so my interest is much greater. Here we have a dual vanilla, the creamy sweet and the rich/opulent leathery one , accompanied by many other ingredients of the best quality: uplifting opening of mandarin and bergamot seasoned with cinnamon and pink pepper, a rich heart of Cinnamon , Cumin , Coriander, Rose absolut and Ylang Ylang and to end an addictive base of leather, gourmand and woods. Thanks to Electimuss London for creating such opulent, complex and artistic scents with best materials and best perfumers: Zaroquian, Rasquinet, Provenzano,…. I live in Spain, EU.

Thank you Karl, I am happy to learn about the beauty that Vanilla Edesia undoubtedly is. What strikes me most based on both Karl’s review and the genius perfumer’s sentiment, is the brand’s commitment to opulence and complexity as well as to artistry and innovation, and how it translates into their newest cration. The choice of Cécile Zarokian as the perfumer sounds like a great move as she is the best at creating complex and sophisticated vanilla – centered fragrances that draw one in. I am totally sold on Vanilla Edesia after reading Karl’s review. I like Cecile Zarokian’s work and the idea of creating a vanilla fragrance that explores the leathery, animalic nuancers of the scent beneath the gourmand nature is neat. I have experiened this in my vanilla tinctures from Uganda and Sri Lanka.

I absolutely love the use of Gurjun balsam, cypriol, cumin and corriander, along with vetiver to really pull out these aspects of the fragrance.

  • Electimuss London future is bright, in my opinion they do everything right, top presentations, sophisticated fragrances made with quality ingredients, and working with perfumers like Christian Provenzano, Julien Rasquinet and Cécile Zarokian. I know all fragrances by Electimuss London, and if I have to rate my favorite ones:
    1. Amber Aquilaria i own
    2. Persephone’s Patchouli
    3. Vanilla Edesia
Like Karl well pointed out Vanilla Edesia is captivating, in my opinion in a more grown up way . Personally I don’t get any animalic nuances, the leather is more a suede leather, cumin is somewhere in the background, and unlike Karl I do get a lot of cinnamon, almonds and opulent resinous base.
“offering opulent and intricate scents to fragrance aficionados”
I agree 100% , for example Amber Aquilaria opens with a bright, sparking bergamot , Its rich cognac notes form the base of the fragrance , mixed with rich roses – i can almost smell the petals.

  • In August I ordered Electimuss London , at the time current sample set, and I’m impressed , true lavishness for the senses. So many beautiful fragrances , gourmands , aromatics, shypres … all smelling luxury, long lasting, and rather unique.
Bought the sample set from Essenza Nobile €120 (20×1.8ml) , the biggest German niche boutique and distributor, and at the time of my purchase Vanilla Edesia was not yet on the market. What I find interesting, is that comparing my sample set, with the latest one available on Electimuss London websites , i can see some changes are made , Pompona Vitalis, Jupiter and Octavian samples are no longer available in the current set , and are replaced with Vanilla Edesia, Aquila Oud and Gladiator Oud.
Spicy sweet leather, rose and chocolate, made by Cécile Zarokian? I can tell Electimuss London commitment to artistry and innovation continues with Vanilla Edesia.
Persephone’s Patchouli and Amber Aquilaria are the two Electimuss London fragrances i like the most.
    Thank you so much

  • The only Electimuss London fragrance I’ve smelled is Amber Aquilaria, it smells fantastic. To my knowledge the house most popular fragrance, at least on social media and YouTube, Steven is also praising it quite often in his Fall and Winter videos.
Vanilla and Cécile Zarokian is a match made in Heaven, Cafe Cabanel, Ani , Material , and the latest beauty Vanilla Edesia .
What appeals to me in Karl Topham review is how genuinely amazed he is by Electimuss London fragrances , and Vanilla Edesia in particular , it’s not just a review he had to do. I like the sultry and complex facet, the leather, rose , chocolate and of course the vanilla 😉
Super cozy , super classy, maybe even a bit seductive, I’d love to win Vanilla Edesia.
    Thanks for the draw

  • Is that a vanilla fragrance by the queen Cécile Zarokian?? Big fan of her vanilla fragrances. This one interests me precisely because of the contrast between vanilla’s innocent & dark sides. I love the transition from sweet and innocent to leathery and dark. This fragrance is like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde in that sense. This is enough for me, but there also comes the addition of animalic aspects, which I always appreciate in a fragrance. Knowing what Cecile is capable of, it’s no surprise this is one of Karl’s favourite releases of the year. I live in the USA.
