Earth Day (March Spilled Perfume 2019) + 9 Fragrances Draw

Stardate 2323: Kirk and Spock saw the danger of climate change Rocketstreetfood©

For the past week, our inboxes have been overflowing with dozens of press releases from PR firms, touting their clients and Earth Day. Michelyn has no idea why lipsticks in non-recyclable tubes are earth friendly, but then again it is easy to pretend to be ‘green’ and to hop on The Earth Day bandwagon. First celebrated in 1970, Earth Day now includes events in more than 193 countries, which are now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network and mobilized 200 million people in 2018.  We asked our Editors and Contributors to tell her how they help the planet, even in the smallest way. Match the Editors and Contributors with each of our choices for helping the environment on Earth Day and if you guess correctly, you’ll win some great smelling perfume.

Clayton Ilolahia, Contributor: Stopped using plastic bottles

dana sandu, Contributor: live in a much more walkable neighborhood

Ermano Picco: Editor we've decided we're only going to have one car, always

Gail Gross, Sr Editor: composts vegetable scraps

Sandi Lundberg: Shuts down the computer in the evening instead of using sleep mode to reduce energy consumption

Sebastian Jara, Editor: very conscious about never running/wasting our water if I don't need it

Marianne Butler, Sr. Contributor: reuse, repurpose everything.

Ida Meister, Senior Editor:  Stopped using plastic straws. Even carries a metal straw to use on-the-go

Robert Herrmann, Senior Editor: Buys Local as much as possible.

Danu Seith-Fyr, Sr. Contributor: recycles

Love all these suggestions here! I only use reuseable shopping bags, water bottles (no plastic/disposable), reuse old glassware and takeout containers. Trying to be more conscious everyday! Thanks for the draw. If I were to win, I'd love Sandalo per Teti, Roisin Dubh, or Osmanthus. I'm in the US.

I recycle all the glassware, metal, carton, paper and used electronics + compost food scraps. I prefer to buy paper or carton packages over plastics. If I have the luck to win, I’d like Etat libre d’Orange, Ormonde Jayne and Sandalo per teti. From Finland. Thanks for the draw!

    My 3 Choices:

    1 – PdM Oajan

    2 – Ormonde Jayne Osmanthus

3 – Essential Parfums Mon Vetiver

Luckily for me, I consider every day to be Earth Day, so having a minimalist lifestyle really helps – everything from reuseable packaging and vegetable composting to walking within a 5 mile radius and even talking less to reduce noise pollution.  Still working on that last one.

As for myself, we separate paper and carton waste from the plastic, glass and organic one. I turn off the water while I'm brushing my teeth, when I don't actively use it. We also make sure to buy only the food we can surely finish eating, so nothing goes to waste. I also don't drive a car (also because I'm a lousy driver), so I spare the environment from a small amount of exhaust gas and walk or use public transport instead.

In case I win, I would like to choose ELDO's "Like this", Cloon Keen "Roisin Dubh" and Ormonde Jayne's "Osmanthus". I'm from Romania, EU. Thanks for the draw!

I am trying to do as much as I can to minimize my carbon footprint. I don't have a car (I use public transportation), I turns the lights off every time I leave a room, I don't let the tap running, I recycle at work and home, I buy most of my clothes from Poshmark, The RealReal and Tradesy and I have reusable bags for shopping.

My preference: 1. Osmanthus; 2. Orca; 3. Sandrine.

I almost never buy products in disposable plastic bottles unless I have no other option (have never embraced bottled water in my life since it never made sense to me), occasionally soda in 2L sizes (once in months or so) since that is economical and not in smaller sizes such as 1L or 500ml etc., almost always buy Gatorade in powder mix form, not plastic bottle ones, and so on.

I planted a tree this year! Happy Earth Day! Thank you for this generous draw. I'm in the USA. 🙂

  • Okay, here are my guesses!!

Clayton Ilolahia:  Use less of everything

Dana Sandu:  Stopped using plastic bottles

    Ermano Picco:  Recycles

Gail Gross:  Live in a more walkable neighborhood

Sandi Lundberg:  Only one car, always

    Sebastian Jara:  Reuse/repurpose everything

    Marianne Butler:  Compost veg scraps

Ida Meister:  Very conscious or running/wasting water

Robert Hermann:  Keep native plants for butterflies

Elise Pearlstine:  stoppped using plastic straws, carries a metal one

Danu Seith-Fyr:  Pic up others trash while hiking

    Sherri Sebastian:  Buy local

Michelyn Camen:  Shut down computer at night, not just put it to sleep

I never use plastic water bottles.  Fortunately my city makes recycling very easy and convenient.  Consolidate my errands to save gas.  I'd love to win:  Etat Libre Like this, Roisin Dubh or Osmanthus. Thanks for the chance.  Usa.
