Perfumers have scented public ambiences such as operas, theaters, dance stages and even the fountains of Versailles; we hope that scenting catwalks will bring something lost from past generations, when a designer’s or a brand’s name on the bottle meant more than signing a licensing contract.
Fans of Maison Kurkdjian in the USA, have something absolutely to be thrilled about… ABSOLUE POUR LE MATIN and POUR LE SOIR are now available at Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus, the diptychs to the original colognes debuted during New York Fashion Week. According to master perfumer Francis Kurkdjian, they aren’t flankers; they are stand alone eau de parfums that have been reworked, bringing new intensity and sensuality to the line.
Organic Californian wine and scent pairings have been au courant of late. This past summer both Jo Malone and Strange Invisble Perfumes were inspired by renowned Napa Valley organic vinyards. Now, an organic perfumer, Jane Hendler, the owner and nose of Ajne Perfumes took this trend one sip further; Jane trained as a sommelier in Napa Valley, famed for their glorious Chardonnays just to develop her latest organic perfume for Fall

There is a house in New Orleans, no it’s not the “House of the Rising Sun”, but a perfumery that has existed for over 150 years. Unlike in The Animals classic song, the House of Bourbon French Parfums, hasn’t been the ruin of many poor boys although they might have made a few perfumistas poor.
Since 1843, Bourbon French Parfums haven’t changed very much, although the name has. From the earliest days until the present whoever “le nez” has been, they were influenced by all that makes New Orleans a special American city.
Ernest Daltroff the founder and first in house nose of the House of Caron fled for his life during World War II occupied France. Approaching Ellis Island, his eyes fell upon the majestic splendor and imposing beauty of the Statue of Liberty, welcoming him to the safe haven of America.
