ÇaFleureBon Fifth Anniversary 2010-2015 + Five Years a Perfume and Beauty Blog Draw

Art by Jasia Julia Nielson Happy Birthday Cafleurebon.com

Five years ago, March 22, 2010, the first post on ÇaFleureBon went live. I interviewed Michel Roudnitska on ethical perfumery.  That set the tone from day one.  Ever since, we have been posting 365 days a year for five years.

When I started contributing to online and beauty publications in 2005, bloggers were not considered to be legitimate journalists.  The digital age has changed that and now most print magazines have online presences.   For most lovers of fine fragrance, it is the perfume blogs that are their first source for information. I feel a deep sense of responsibility for the quality and veracity  of the information  we publish as well as for every review and for every post that appears on ÇaFleureBon.

christopher brosius

Christopher Brosius:  Demeter "Snow" 1999 and "Dirt"  1996 were unlike anything else in fragrance; I discovered the line at Henri Bendel

Living in New York City, I was exposed at a young age to hard to find fragrances.   Jean Laporte for L’Artisan Parfumeur and Christopher Brosius of Demeter and CB I hate Perfume influenced  me quite a bit during the late 90s.  M. Laporte’s mission was to perpetuate the art of fine French perfumery rooted in Grasse and Christopher Brosius of Williamsburg,  broke every rule and  changed  the definition of fragrance.

michelyn Camen and Maurice Roucelk 2010

Maurice and Me 2010

Until 2003, I did not know the names of the perfumers behind some of my favorite fragrances.  As Maurice Roucel told me during our interview  in 2010,  “we are ghosts”. Outside of a very small circle, the noses behind the art were for the most part unknown.  Frederic Malle changed that to some extent in 2000. I hope tha CaFleureBon  raised awarensss  of these authors of scent,  through interviews and profiles.

I minored in fine art in college, which is why there are so many visuals and references to the arts.  In 2010,  it was rare to see so many paintings, videos and photos integrated into a  review. As I do most of the art direction,  I often spend up to two hours finding the perfect images.  It was Ocatvian Coiffan, of 1000 fragrances (who is now a perfumer) who coined the term "fragrance is the 8th art". If any one blogger influenced and changed my perception of what fragrance can be at its best (and worst) it is Octavian.

creative juices

From our inception, ÇaFleureBon was one the few blogs that  has always had a natural perfume editor.  A great Fragrance is great fragrance no matter the materials used and we honor ancient artisan techniques as well as the latest technology in aroma chemical molecules.  Discovering emerging independent and artisan perfumers from around the world, shining a spotlight on American perfumers, celebrating the olfactive artists and the Creative Directors who set the vision, discovering young perfumers who are the next generation of 21st Century perfumers; all of this is what makes my role as Editor in Chief so exciting.

Why do I spend so much time with our blog? After all, I am a  free lance magazine editor, a social media consultant and a former executive who worked in Marketing and Public Relations for fashion, hip-hop, beauty and major media companies. I would still be in a suit  if  I didn't want to break new ground; if I didn't think we could make a difference.  I blog because I love fragrance and beauty, and  of course for our readers, whether they are just discovering fragrance or are long time perfumistas who read ÇaFleureBon we strive every day to surprise, delight and engage everyone.

I have been blessed to work with many writers, contributors and editors over the past five years who believe in the ÇaFleureBon vision.  Without them, ÇaFleureBon would not be the success it is today.  Each brought a unique perspective, knowledge and of course beautiful writing. Thank you to every perfumer, to every Creative director who has shared your path with our readers.   To Tanja Bochnig, Ellen Covey, Neil Morris, Dawn Spencer Hurwitz, Laurie Erickson, who allowed me to be Creative Director on fragrance collaborations; I love working with each and every one of you.  Much gratitude for the generosity of the hundreds of sponsors of our draws, too many to list.

Tama Blough by Jasia Julia Nielson

As  I reflect on the past five years,  there is a shadow of sadness.  RIP Didier Cholay, my late husband and Managing Director and  former managing editorTama Blough . Both passed within days of each other.  They live on in our hearts and on our pages.  A special thank you to former contributor, Jasia Julia Nielson of The Sound of Scents who created this stunning watercolor for the  our 5th Anniversary and the memorial watercolor painting celebrating Tama's life.  If you have not read Jasia's blog, it is a multi-sensoiral feast for the eyes, ears and the soul.

Here’s to another five years. Thank you all.

Enough editorializing, let’s start the party with a quote from Creative Director Christopher Chong from Amouage

"Congratulations on 5 years to Michelyn and Cafleurebon! I am always impressed with the in-depth stories and passion that Cafleurebon has become known for.  Such a passionate and strong community which we are thankful for as we pursue the creativity and art that is the world of perfumery”. Christopher Chong, Creative Director

Amouage-Sunshine perfume bottle

What would a party be without presents? Thanks to Europerfumes, the distributor for Amouage in the USA we have a 100 ml bottle of Amouage Sunshine Woman ($450) for a US reader

and

Twisted-5Year-150-CFB

A $150 E Gift Certificate from  Eric and Stamatis of Twisted Lily for any reader in the world (no restrictions).  To be eligible for either, please leave a comment on what ÇaFleureBon means to you, how long you have been a reader, and if you have a question or ideas how we can make your ÇaFleureBon experience even better. Don't forget to include  your choice of prize should you win. Draw closes 3/26/2015

Note; The ÇaFleureBon is pronounced Sah-fleur-BON. Jean Claude Ellena of Hermes once told me that when he was satisfied with a perfume, when it was done, he would say "Ça Sent Bon" (This smells good). The domain in  dot.com was taken; Didier who was born and lived in Paris for most of his life named the blog ÇaFleureBon which as two meanings- "This is a good idea" and in arcane French "This smells good." He was right.

We announce the winners on our site and on our Facebook page, so Like Cafleurebon and use our RSS option…or your dream prize will be just spilled perfume

  • I have been reading CaFleureBon for about 3 1/2 years. What I love about the blog is the sensitivity and quality of the writing/editing, the palpable passion for perfumers and the perfumed world. I know I will never get to try all the scents that are released but i CAN read about most of them thanks to the CaFleurebon writers. Thank you for a wonderful daily read. I would like to win the gift certificate. Here’s to another 5 wonderful years. CHeers and thanks!

Congratulations on your five years anniversary! This is my favorite blog because you guys always have the latest news , great reviews, interviews and awesome draws as well. I’ve been a reader since you guys started and maybe Michelyn remembers my user name. Five years of fun.
My pick would be Amouage Sunshine and hope that we ask can stick around to celebrate the 10th…
I live in the US and once again congrats!!!

  • I’ve been a fan since Day 1 and have watched Cafleurebon launch a new movement in perfumery. Congratulations to all for your vision and efforts and success. This is an epic giveaway, I would faint over either one.

  • Congratulations! Wishing you many more years of perfume pleasure. I also wanted to say that I am very very sorry about the loss of your husband and hope you are doing well or better.

I have been a reader for less than a year. I think the give-a-ways are a lot of fun, but what has kept me coming back daily are the posts. All your writers are great and enthusiastic. I hear of new perfumes and perfumers and get inspired to try new and different (for me) fragrances. Thank you.

I would be interested in the Gift Certificate. In US.

  • I have been following Cafleurebon for a few yrs now. Always the place to go when new scents arrive, the reviews are absolutely fabulous and I also love reading the profiles of different Perfumers.
Congratulations and many more happy years for you all!! I live in the U.S. And would like to win Amouage Sunshine Woman. Thank you for the draw!!

  • So sorry to read of your loss, and yet, you serve as a model of courage to carry on with your wonderful blog. I only recently discovered your blog but look for new posts every day now! Congratulations on five years! I would be grateful if you entered me for the gift certificate draw. I am in the US. Thank you for the opportunity!

  • I am a Cafleurebon reader almost a year. This is my favorite blog ever. Truly, when I turn on my laptop, the first thing is that, I typing “cafleurebon” and reading the timely review. And I love them all. To reading these articles is really amusing to for me. Reading about fabulous perfumes and fantastic people, and it also helps me to learning the beautiful English language. I’m very glad for I found it.
    I live in Europe.

  • Congratulations Michelyn and Cafleurebon team! Thank you for your support of artisan and niche perfumery! You’ve built a beautiful and comprehensive source of information for your readers. Best wishes to you for the future! No need to enter me in the drawing; I just wanted to offer my congrats on your 5th anniversary!

  • Congratulations! I have been reading Cafleurebon since 2-3 years. What I like the most about this site is that you find everythay a new post, let along the amazing interviews and reviews. What I like less is the fact that since a year there’s a lot of restrictions about shipping outside the US but I assume the reasons to this. well , if I win I would choose the Gift card . Thank you for this draw and I wish you all the best for the coming years. I,m in EU.

  • Elizabeth T. says:

Happy birthday, CaFleureBon! Yesterday was my birthday, too!! I’ve been reading here for years, but daily for about a year and a half. I have been introduced to so many new lines and fragrances here, more than I can count! The reviews are always thoughtful, and the interviews are like a backstage pass into perfumery. I really miss it on days when I don’t get to visit.

I would be ecstatic with either prize if I were to win. Thank you and congratulations again!!!

  • As a brand new reader it feels like I’ve just joined the cult I’ve been waiting for all my life. So much power and creativity poured into an experience that can never match the thing itself. It’s kind of meta. And fabulous too as would be the chance to sample something from Twisted Iris. Cheers to you – looking forward to much enjoyment.

  • I’ve been reading this lovely blog since 2011. The art drew me in, and the quality of the writing kept me here!

I am a particular fan of the fragrance reviews, for obvious reasons. I take recommendations seriously when they come from Ca Fleure Bon. But I also love the interviews. They’re always sensitively done.

I have no recommendations except to keep up the good work, and keep delighting me with images and fragrances.

Thank you, Ca Fleure Bon, and congratulations!

I am in the USA, and if I were to win the draw, I would choose the Twisted Lily gift certificate.

  • MikasMinion says:

Congratulations! Cafleurebon has been a part of my daily routine since late 2011. I love the reviews and the always appropriate visuals that you choose for each post. My only objection is that the reviews create so many lemmings! :). Also, of course, the draws are a treat and have allowed me to fall in love with several scents I might otherwise have missed. I’m in the U.S. and would prefer the gift certificate should I be drawn. Thank you for five years of hard work!

  • Happy Birthday, Cafleurebon! I have been a reader since 2011. I wish I could remember how I first stumbled upon your blog, but almost immediately I was a daily reader. As I believe I’ve mentioned here before, it’s the only blog I check every day, first thing, as I drink my coffee. The beautiful art, carefully picked to compliment and explain the mood of the perfume being reviewed was a big draw to me. I love art, and I love the idea of sensory tie ins with the sense of smell, be it through taste, sight, or even sound. I recognize regular commenters who have been around as long as me, and we are in our own way a little community! I am continually amazed by the new perfumes you all find to review each and every day. Please keep up the hard work! We would miss you if you were not here!

And let me also add I’m sorry for your losses. I knew of Tama’s passing, but not your husband. Big hugs.

I am in the USA. Both are fabulous prizes but my first choice would be the Twisted Lily gift certificate. I’m in the USA. Congratulations again!

  • Happy birthday Cafleurbon 🙂 I have been reading for about a year and a half now, I think. I love the diversity of reviews here, as well as how often I learn about new and upcoming perfumers or perfume houses!

Thank you for all your work 🙂

I am in the US, and I would love to win the Twisted Lily gift certificate.

  • Happy Birthday! I’ve been reading CaFleureBon for around four (?) years and it’s in my RSS feed so I don’t miss a thing unless I’m out of town with a bad wireless connection. I stumbled upon it when looking for a review of a fragrance I wanted to purchase that wasn’t available to try locally. I won a gift, a sampler of Ineke Ruhland’s fragrances, and that was an education right there. And a bespoke fragrance (two!) from the fabulous Kevin Verspoor! I was saddened by your losses, too. I am in the US and either prize would be my choice.

  • Congratulations on your huge success in the industry, and my condolences for your great personal losses. I never knew perfume and beauty could be so poetic outside literature and art, but you truly combine it all in your lovely reviews.

I subscribe to your posts but often have to pull up your page on Facebook, as — for some reason — your posts don’t hit my news feed as often as they should (the error is entirely with the Facebook algorithm). As a result, I’ve lost out on a prize or two. I love the beauty and variety of your reviews and it’s one of the very few pages I actively seek out when I’m online. US resident, and either prize would be a pleasure to win.

  • Congratulations and to many more years of fun reading. To me Cafleurebon means a mixture of old, new and unexplored. I love how I can come on one day and read all about the newest niche release and the next day I find an article about a natural perfumer I have never heard of and would never hear of unless I come here daily to read and get a dose of information that sometimes totally surprises me. If it was not for Cafleurebon I would have never known about DSH, Ajne, Olympic Orchids and so many more. I love how we also get to see some of the new make up releases on here. I also love the artwork that is used in the write ups. It all ties together so well. A great source to get a take on a new perfume and an honest review make for good reading. Thank you so much for all the fun, give away’s, games etc. all of the Cafleurebon contributors have entertained us with and all the knowledge about perfume that has been passed on to its readers, its truly a pleasure. I am in the US and would be happy with either prize, which are very generous. Here is to the next five years.

  • I have been reading you for about three months. What i like best about your blog is that I get to hear about scents I do not get to read about anywhere else. To be honest, I cannot think of much I’d change, myself. I live in the US, and lean towards the Amouage

  • Three years ago this was my first blog, my scentworld exploded, new perfumes, new concepts, information about raw materials, natural perfumery, indie and lots more!
    Congratulations!

I’m in Spain (EU) and I would loooove to win the $150 gift at Twisted Lily.

    Thank you for the draw.
    Joaquim

  • Lillian Holloway says:

Happy 5th anniversary. I got back into perfumes about a year ago after a long absence and found this blog. It has been a wealth of information. Granted I may never encounter some of the fragrances reviewed but I at least am aware of their existence. I enjoy everything, the reviews, the visual images, and that the reviewers write in a manner that’s embracing to the readers. Congratulations and here’s to at least 5 more years. I am in the US.

  • Happy 5th year Cafleurebon! I love your blog and the beautiful pictures and wonderful reviews and I am so thankful to have had my line featured here!! Looking forward to many more years and more insightful posts!

  • Mazel tov, and many more years to come, or at least as long as your typing fingers hold out! I’ve been a reader for about two years, and always look forward to your insightful and engaging reviews and articles. There’s always something to learn from CfB!! My wish would be able to receive your new blog entries as an email daily like all the other perfume blogs I follow, instead of having it search it out. If there is a way to do this, I’ve never been able to find it.

  • Georgette Villareal says:

Congratulations! I have been reading your blog for less than a year. I am a relatively new perfume enthusiast, so I appreciate reading your thoughts and perspective of new scents, as well as learning more about the perfumers who create the scents. If I am lucky enough to win, I would love the bottle of Amouage Sunshine Woman. Thank you for this amazing opportunity!

  • This is the only perfume place I read on a regular basis. I’m not sure when I started (didn’t think anyone would ask). Maybe 2012. There is nothing I can think of to improve things here. I’d be super happy to win that Amouage Sunshine Woman. 🙂 USA

  • Congratulations Cafleurebon!! I discovered this blog about a year ago and it has been part of my daily staple readings ever since. I love your articles about raw materials used in perfumery. I hope there will be more of these to come in the future.

It must be hard to have a new post up every single day. Big applause for your hard work and efforts.

Thanks for the draw. I’m in Canada. If I win, my choice would be the Twisted Lily gift card. I might use it to get Penhaligon’s Amaranthine. I have been eyeing this one for a while.

  • Congratulations on 5 wonderful years! I have been a reader for 3 1/2 years or so … My favorite part of CaFleureBon is of course, the reviews. They are so beautifully written and the accompanying artwork is perfect. It shows that so much care and respect goes into each choice.

Thank you to everyone at CaFleureBon for your hard work and dedication! It is so very appreciated.

I am in the US and I would choose the Amouage Sunshine Woman, if so lucky.

  • Congratulations on five years! I’ve followed this blog for a couple of years now and learned about all sorts of fragrances, especially natural lines and independent perfumers, that I probably wouldn’t have discovered on my own. I heard the sad news about Tama, but I didn’t know about your husband; I’m so sorry for both of your losses.

I’m in the US, and I would be thrilled to win either prize. Thanks!

  • Time has flown by.. looking back. Congratulations on this Milestone. I have been a reader for almost the entire time minus a month or so. I think what drew me to reading CaFleureBon was the addition of the fabulous art. It sparked something in me that I am so grateful for. It has encouraged me to search out and enjoy art in a much deeper sincere way than I could have imagined. I also love the reviews and each writers perspective on their fragrance reviews. I know that what I read will be correct with all the information regarding the current releases. I look forward to many more years and hopefully a new fresh “facelift for the page and more beauty reviews. Congratulations to the entire team. I am in the US and would be Happy with either of these draws. If I have to choose it would have to be SUNSHINE… I am after all a desert girl. 🙂

  • ChanteusedesIles says:

Congrats on your 5 year anniversary! I have been reading your blog for about a year, it was one of the first I found as I became interested in perfumery! What I really like are the in depth articles on specific notes in fragrance that you do, like the one on honey & beeswax or violets for example. I always learn something and I find them really interesting and very helpful. I also like that I know I can find new information here every day. I live in Canada and would love the Twisted Lily gift certificate, Thanks for your great blog!

  • I have been a steady reader for only a few months now. I really appreciate the reviews here and the beautiful artwork that accompanies them. I am in Canada and would love to win the Twisted Lily gift card. Thanks.

  • Fazal Cheema says:

I really thought Cafleurebon is older than 5 years. I think I first discovered the blog in 2012 maybe and started regularly following it in 2013. To me Cafleurebon has become a source to get to know perfumers better and to learn about upcoming brands who do not have huge marketing expenditures. I would not have known about many brands for a while otherwise if I didn’t read about them on Cafleurebon. One of the ideas I would like to suggest is create a kind of index which may make it easier to find perfumes already reviewed and this index could be organization by brand names with perfumes as sub-categories.

Congrats for five years and here is to many more five years. My choice will be Amouage Sunshine. I am in the US

  • Congratulations Michelyn and the wonderful team at CaFleureBon! It is unfathomable to consider the fragrance community without all that CFB has done to promote artisans and the art form itself.

Thank you for all that you have done and we look forward to all that you will do. I know just how far you have come in these 5 years and it’s an incredible triumph!

Blessings to you, with love and admiration. <3

no need to enter me in the draw.

  • ps: Thank you for the shout out, too! I have loved our collaborations and I hope that we will be able to unveil our most recent very soon. <3

  • Happy 5th anniversary!

Unfortunately I’ve only discovered your wonderful site within the last year since I’m a recent perfumista. I love reading your posts because they are beautifully written and not only makes me smarter when it comes to scents and perfumes but also other arts and life in general. I haven’t read all your posts so maybe i’ve just overlooked it but I would really like to read more about the sourcing of raw ingrediens – the geography of perfumes. Since I’m in Europe I would be very happy to win the gift card 🙂 I hope you keep the blog up for many years to come – happy scenting and writing 🙂

  • ÇaFleureBon has been my daily dose of great writing about fragrance for the past year. ÇaFleureBon means so much to me since it was almost exactly one year ago that my sense of smell returned after being suppressed by medication. When I realized I could smell again, I was desperate to find scents I would enjoy, and ÇaFleureBon has taught me about so many wonderful things. Also I truly love the art that complements so many of the fragrance reviews. I enjoy the interviews with perfumers very much, so I hope those will continue in the future. I would love to win the gift card. Thank you for everything!

  • I hope I will get to read these great articles on your blog for another 50 years! I discovered Cafleurebon when I was documenting about the artistic side of perfumery: the niche. It was more than a year ago. Since then, everyday I return to the site, whether it is morning, night or I am at work and take a short break. If itis one thing that I love about Cafleurebon then that thing has to be diversity: from perfume reviews to interviews and reports from big fragrant-events. They are all here!

I would like to win the gift card. Thank you and Happy Birthday!

  • This is indeed a wonderful achievement you can be proud of, Michelyn. CFB is always a step ahead, including beautiful art, interesting stories and supporting young and starting out perfumers, eps. us naturals! Never afraid to write about topics that are a bit off the charts…You def. do what you love and it shows. Continued love and Light on your journey and may CFB always be inspired from a place of truth and love . Blessed Be!

  • Marcopietro says:

Happy Birthday! My first meeting with Cafleurebon was two years ago, now it has become a friend and a daily appointment that I can not give up.
    thanks to the whole team!
I’m in Italy and I’d love to win the Twisted Lily gift certificate.

  • Gosh, you’ve had a rough time lately. Here’s hoping that the Spring will truly be a time of brightness and renewal.

Congratulations on five years (of daily posts)! I think I started reading ÇaFleureBon regularly about two years ago. It was one of the first perfume blogs I found, and is usually the first place I hear about new perfumers. (You have also introduced me to some new artists, as the time and care you spend choosing art for your posts is evident.) Your interviews with perfumers and Creative Directors are always interesting, and I really learned a lot from your series on specific notes and the raw materials used to create them. I miss Tama Blough, but your current roster is pretty great.

I’m in the US, and my first choice in the drawing would be Amouage Sunshine. (That bottle seems to actually glow.)

  • Congratulations to CaFleureBon for 5 incredible years. Without doubt, CaFleureBon is a leader in bringing niche and natural perfumes to life with insightful reviews, perfumer profiles and industry news. Since discovering the wonderful world of niche perfumes a few years back, CaFleureBon and its contributors have made the site a daily ritual for all my industry “must know” needs. Here’s looking to continued success in the next 5 years and beyond! I am in the US and I would choose Sunshine for my prize. Thanks!

  • Congrats! I have been a reader for about three years, and I can always trust CaFleureBon to give me the industry background information on perfume houses and noses. Love it! Can’t think of anything you should do differently.

I am in the US, and my choice if I were to win is Sunshine. Such a bright, happy bottle!

  • Happy anniversary. CaFleurbon was a pkace that allowed me to express in words, my love for perfumes.

I live in the USA. TwisteTwisted Lily gift certificate

  • I live in the USA, and to me, CFB is a fantastic place to learn about new and under the radar perfume lines, as well as new releases from already established brands. I would choose Sunshine. And I’ve been a reader for about two years now.

  • Congratulations and Happy Anniversary!

Your ability to keep on keeping on in the last year is admirable; I think “I don’t know how she did it,” but I’ve been through hard times, and we do indeed. . .

I believe I’ve been a reader for two and a half years. I could probably figure it out, as I remember winning a sampler of slumberhouse scents early on, and I’ve since become a big slumberhouse fan thanks to that. If not for CaFleureBon, I would probably never have heard of the house, and many others. Your attention to small niche companies in addition to the big houses is fantastic. I adore the Profiles in American Perfumery. . .anyhoo, reading the daily post here has become a part of my morning post-breakfast ritual (or procrastination – call it what you will).

Here’s to another five years! Thank you for your always wonderful giveaways. If I were lucky enough to win this one, I’d love the Twisted Lily gift certificate!! I’m in the US (still, lol). Cheers!!! s

  • I can’t think of a better place to read about new fragrances, perfumers, houses and history. Been reading here for two years. I’m in the US and would welcome winning the Twisted Lily gift certificate for a great purchase to myself.

  • Cafleurebon means that I am not alone in my perfume love! I have been a reader for about 2 years, and I wish I had found you sooner! I appreciate that you have new articles every single day and that every single one is carefully researched and every contributor is so knowledgeable. I’m not sure what you could do to make it any better! You seem to cover the range of nearly anything I would want to know about perfume!

  • Oh, I forgot to say that if I won, I would love the Twisted Lily gift certificate, though either prize is absolutely amazing.

  • Congratulations on your five-year anniversary! I have been a reader about 2 years. I have appreciated that you do a story EVERY DAY about some aspect of fragrance. Could you do a story about studying scent? In your interviews the perfumers talk about how they got their starts, but are there college courses in the US that would prepare one for a career as a perfumer? I’m in the US and would love the Sunshine (Amouage is one of my favorite houses).

  • Congratulations! I have been a reader for about 3 years and I love your inclusive approach. I am in the EU and would love the Twisted Lily gift certificate.

  • Congratulations!

I started sporadically lurking CFB approximately three years ago but have only been actively engaging and participating for about a year (I think).

This blog has exposed me to so many fragrances and perfumers as well as perfume retailers. There are a few other blogs that I have followed, but this is the only one I come back to on a regular basis.

    Many more years!

Oh, the giveaway. I’d be more than happy with the Twisted Lily gift card. Thanks to everyone involved in the draw! I am in the US.

  • Congrats on your 5th anniversary and I wish you many more! I’ve been reading your blog since it started! It’s a daily must read for me. You guys have exposed me to a world of fragrances that I wouldn’t otherwise have known. When I want something new for my collection, I check with CaFleurebon first. I love the articles because the writing is spectacular. I’m in the US and I would love the Amouage Sunshine! ❤️

  • Congrats on 5 years! And that’s how long I’ve been a reader. CaFleureBon is where I go to find inspiration on what to go smell next and info on what the ideas behind the perfumes are. I’m in the U.S. and I’d love the Amouage.

  • Happy Anniversary CaFleureBon and congratulations to you Michelyn and the entire CaFleureBon team for 5 amazing years! I have been actively reading your blog for the better part of 3 years now and enjoy the well crafted and candid fragrance reviews you have brought to the forefront for all of us to enjoy. You have many well respected and talented noses writing for you which gives each and every article you publish major credibility in the fragrance world. Thank you for giving us fragrance aficionados a trusting place to read up on everything the fragrance world has to offer. I would love the gift card if I were to win the draw and I am located in the US.

  • happy birthday ! many to come.
i can’t remember since when i follow, must be 2-3 years.
gift certificate as i am in UE

  • Warmest congratulations!
I have been a reader for 2 years. Cafleurebon is by far my favorite blog and I appreciate every post I read here. You’re doing a fantastic job!

I would love to win the Twisted Lily gift card. Thank you!

  • Congratulations on the 5 year mark – what a milestone! I’ve only been a reader since October, but for the entirety of the 6 months I’ve been really interested in perfume. CaFleureBon is such a wealth of knowledge, I appreciate being able to learn and ‘experience’ perfumes through the noses of your contributors/editors. It’s been so fun, and is part of the reason I enjoy perfume so much now! I’d love to win the Amouage. Thanks so much, I’m in the US.

  • Congratulations on the 5 year anniversary! I have been a reader for the past 6 months on this blog and I have already found so many new perfume houses to explore and order samples from. I am trying to limit the amount of blind buying I have been doing and I love coming to this blog to learn about possible decants and samples to order and try! I really appreciate the amount of information I can find on the website! Thank you for the draw. I live in the U.S. If I win, I would love to have the Amouage.

I first started dabbling with fragrance when I was about 8 years old. I bought a potpourri kit from a local herb store and the dried flower petals, whole spices, the little bag of orris root powder, and the vials of essential oil fascinated me. After making that potpourri, I was hooked and started my own herb garden, harvesting my botanical bounty to create all kinds of fragrant herbal products to sell to my unsuspecting family and friends…little did they know..LoL!
By the time I was a teenager I was spending all of my extra money on perfume! I never bothered with clothes or make-up because it didn’t really matter about looking good, only smelling good!

Fast forward about 40 years and after many twists and turns in the journey of life, it finally brought me to the joy of discovering the Cafleurebon blog about a year ago, when I stumbled upon my first post on the Internet one day. After reading the post, I felt that same thrill of passion course through my veins again, as the day I brought home that first potpourri kit many years ago.

The one thing that I really loved about Cafleurebon was featuring many posts about natural perfumes and the perfumers who create them. I have also enjoyed reading the profiles of the perfumers in the industry and their knowledge and creative vision of the “8th art”.

Cafleurebon has inspired me to finally follow my childhood passion and take a perfumery class this year to learn how to create my own fragrances with natural botanicals. It has also been a great pleasure to discover a community of perfume lovers in the world who also share the same passion as myself.

I would like to extend my appreciation for the overwhelming generosity of the contributors and Cafleurebon for hosting the draw opportunities so readers can follow in the writer’s fragrant footsteps by having a chance to sample the perfumes.

As a novice perfume maker, I would love to see more about the techniques used in creating perfumes and the perfume note posts. I would also love to see Cafleurebon launch a new series visiting different distillers and suppliers of raw perfume ingredients around the world; interviewing and reporting on how they harvest & extract the fragrant aromas.

My choice would be Sunshine, as wearing it would remind me of how Cafleurebon has become a fragrant ray, in my life each day. Congratulations on 5 fragrant years and thank you for all of the hard work and dedication that has gone into producing a new blog post 365 days a year, for all 5 of them. US resident.

  • Congratulations for 5 wonderful years!! CaFleureBon has been such a great source of knowledge and news on fragrances for me. I think I came across this site 2 years ago and I remember that I was going through older posts greedily day after day. I enjoy reading the interviews and your beautiful reviews a lot. Don’t need to enter me in the draw; I just wanted to congratulate your anniversary! Many more happy years!

  • Congratulations on your wonderful 5 years! You have certainly become important as an informative site and that is why I read here. The writing is beautiful and the posts are really interesting, the interviews come with a lot of insight that we wouldn’t get otherwise.
I have not been reading here for that long but, Thank you for your hard work, time and effort! it is appreciated.

Any prize would be awesome though I would love the Twisted Lily gift would be awesome.

  • Congratulations on five years and here’s to many more!
I started reading maybe two? years ago? But starting a year or so ago, reading every post as I became more interested in scents. I love the stories woven into the descriptions, the accompanying visuals, and how you just get drawn in.
I would choose the Amouage Sunshine Woman as it sounds wonderful! I love white florals.

  • Congrats to 5 years, and many more on the way! I found out about CFB by accident, just looking for fragrance websites on google. That must have been about 2 years ago or so. I’m glad I clicked on this site!

Not only are the draws fun, but you all are extremely knowledgeable and give great opinions and feedback on fragrances.

My only advice would be to keep up the amazing work and best of luck for the future!

I’m in Canada so I’ll enter the draw for the gift certificate.

  • Happy Birthday, CaFleureBon! When I started reading CaFleureBon (in late 2010 or 2011, I don’t actually remember), I was so hungry for an education on everything related to scent, and CFB has always delivered!! Moreover, through the articles and reader comments, I’ve found that the sense of community is strong: we grieve as well as rejoice with each other as Life deals out its cards…

I would love to see the continuation of articles on perfume notes and ingredients (like the ones that Elise P. used to do so beautifully).

My choice would be the gift certificate.

Thank you, CaFleureBon, for five wonderful years — and may there be many more!

  • I have been visiting for a couple of years. It is a very intelligent thoughtful blog. Please change the way you announce winners, maybe by sending an email to the winner…. I would love the Amouage!

  • Freeestyler says:

I have been reading CaFleureBon for about 3 years. About the blog I love the quality of the writing, the passion for perfumers and the perfumed world. I know I will never get to try all the scents that are released but i can read about and smell virtually most of them thanks to the CaFleurebon writers. Thank you for a wonderful daily read. I would like to win the gift certificate. I’m in Germany

  • Congrats on the anniversary! I have been reading for a year and look forward to the daily posts. Always insightful reviews, niche, classic, designer, and interviews with new talent and experienced masters. I am in the USA and would like to enter for the twisted lilly gift certificate.

  • Happy Birthday to this wonderful site! I have been a reader since 2012. When I first found this site, I immediately bookmarked it. That same night, I had a dream that I was “walking through the site,” physically passing through articles and beautiful imagery, and actually getting to experience perfumes I had never known existed. I was thrilled by the variety. The reality of this site has not been all that different from my dream. With the beautiful writings and accompanying images, as well as the giveaways, I have truly had the chance to experience the fragrance journeys in such a captivating and inspiring way. Cafleurebon was instrumental in the development of my interest in perfumes and fragrances! No other site like it, and I wish to see it continue to thrive. The integrity of this site is outstanding. How you have remained so attentive to the readers, and completely genuine in this pursuit, is astounding.

I would loveee to win Amouage Sunshine Woman. Such a gorgeous bottle too!

By the way, I loved that little history of how the name came to be! So appropriate!

  • Happy Anniversary! I have been a regular reader for about a year, inspired writing, beautiful imagery and generous draws, I would not change a thing! I’m in the US and would love the Amouage Sunshine.

  • Ca Fleure Bon was one of the first blogs I read when I first went down this rabbit hole two years ago. I was delighted to have found such a resource and have spent hours upon hours on this site since. I would love to win the bottle of Sunshine and am in the U.S. Thank you and Happy Anniversary!

  • Roseinrose says:

Congratulations on 5 years to dear Mrs. Michelyn Camen and Cafleurebon blog. I have been a reader for about 3 and 1/2 years if I remember well and I enjoy reading most of Cafleurebon’s in-depth reviews always with something new and interesting to learn. The passion for beauty and perfume pursued with creativity and art make you a one of the kind blog in respect to the high art of perfumery.
Never stop evolving, that is my wish to you !!! You are an aesthetic feast for our eyes with all those amazing pictures, images, visual and audio sounds related to unique perfume creations which without Cafleurebon’s presence I would never be aware that they even existed.
You are the blog that I keeps me good company when I need to read something that will elevate my spirit and soul 🙂 !!!
I live in EU and in case I win I would love to have the gift Certificate of from Eric and Stamatis of Twisted Lily.

  • Congratulation and happy anniversary! And many more to come!
I read your blog for 5 years, it is part of my morning routine. No better company for my cup of coffee. I love the reviews, the news about new releases including natural perfumes and American niche houses. The graphics are always great. And of course you always have great draws.

No need to add the to the draw. Great offerings. A gorgeous fragrance and a gift certificate from a great frag store that has lovely owners.

  • I want to wish ÇaFleureBon a wondrously happy 5th birthday/anniversary! The beginning of this 5th year started out sad and that will linger. But there is so much love tangled with that sadness! This site has meant a lot to me over the 4 years I’ve been a reader and occasional commenter. I have had losses myself in the time since I started following CFB, and perfume has been a safe haven. Scent has the power to heighten emotions, let you deeply feel them, and throw it all out into the world with you. Both joy and grief. I am never disappointed by what I find here: amazing reviews, early insider info on upcoming releases, appreciation of vintages, stunning art (Michelyn, your hard work on this end is vastly appreciated – you mention Jasia’s blog as being a feast for the senses; please include your own in that compliment!), in-depth knowledge about the art and creation of perfumery that has made it come alive for me in a new way, and this amazing community of people, many of which I now call dear friends. And such a wonderful person pulling all of the strings! In all of my limited interactions with you, be it email or social media, your kindness and love of all things beautiful shine through. I would also love to say a huge thank you to CFB and all of the perfumers who contribute to the draws and by extension our happiness – every thing I have ever won here has put me on cloud 9 and allowed me to try many new things.

My wish for CFB: may you have an uplifted 5th year full of love and success in honor of the hard work that brought you here and the dear ones not here to celebrate with you, and for many more years of spreading perfume-love and beauty. Thank you for making this such a special place! Much love to you all at CFB. <3

  • Oops! I forgot to include – I live in the US, and I would be happy with either the perfume or gift card! Thank you so much 🙂

  • Congrats from the Mad River Valley Vermont where we love to read through your eyes and nose. For all of those indie perfumers who push the boundaries, my quote for the day: “HAPPINESS IS FREEDOM FROM FEAR”—DON DRAPER

  • sillage4ever says:

It hardly seems like 5 years, however looking back I really have been following this blog for about that many years now.

I like the industry insider news because perfume reviews are a dime a dozen but more rare are well-written, behind the scenes looks at the processes and inspirations of making perfumes.

Thank you for bringing many beauties to my attention that likely would have passed me by in my busy life.

I’m in the USA and it’s time for some Sunshine (my choice)!

  • I have been a fan for the past 3 years. CafleureBon has taught me about many new perfume artisans for all over the world. the information provided by CaFleureBon has given me a broader knowledge of where the materials used for making my perfumes comes from and how perfumes are produced. I love that you encompass natural perfumers since that is the primary medium of perfume that I wear. I love the drawings, just wish I won more of them. LOL. The secrets out, looking forward to another 5 years of perfume bliss… Thank you

  • Forgot to include. I live in the US. Would love a chance to win the gift card from Twisted Lily!!

  • Happy Happy 5th! I will always cherish the day that I stumbled upon your blog and wonderful site. It has been one of my regular visits ever since. I’ve been coming here now for approx 1.5 years I guess? I’m not that old to the family, but I feel welcomed, nonetheless. I always enjoy seeing what the latest articles/reviews will be, and the artwork that you pick Michelyn is always beautiful!!!
I have learned so much from everyone and I look forward to more for years to come. All the contributors are so generous with their time, knowledge and the perfume creators and stockists that participate with the draws are so generous, that there is so much abundance of love here, who can not stop by? How to make it more? hmmm, I cannot even think right now. I’ve always found so much. Again, Happy #5 – thanks for all your knowledge and beauty.

I am located in the US, so if I get lucky this time, Amouage Sunshine would be wonderful.

  • Congratulations on your “birthday” and on the wonderful site you have creative for all of us who love perfume and see it as art! I live in the U.S. (Texas still counts, right? You never know…) and appreciate your thoughtful and through-provoking blog.

  • Congratulations & happy anniversary! I’ve been a reader since early 2012, I believe it was, and have been especially inspired by the lovely fragrance reviews and inspirational interviews. I live in the US and would love to try the Amouage. Thank you!

  • I come here to learn about new fragrance releases, read interviews with the creators of the perfumes and enjoy the beautiful artwork. I feel happy after reading CaFleureBon articles because I learn many new bits of information about all things related to perfume and I always wonder what kind of art will be there with each article. I’ve been reading and following CaFleureBon for about two and a half years now. Congratulations on five years to everyone responsible for creating and maintaining this wonderful spot for all of us to find some enjoyment every day. If a winner, I would like Amouage Sunshine Woman, a fabulous perfume in an equally fabulous yellow bottle. I am in the US. Thank you for this generous drawing.

  • Happy “birthday” to CaFleureBon! I enjoy stopping by this blog for a daily dose of poetic and passionate perfume-talk. I appreciate that this blog spotlights many lesser-known brands that don’t get much airtime elsewhere. I live in the US; I would be more than happy with either prize, but my first pick might be Amouage Sunshine… the note list is up my alley, and it’s a fitting choice to celebrate such a happy blog. ^_^

  • silvrolive says:

Hooray and Congratulations Cafleurebon! I can’t say enough about the interviews and reviews that you post, and the images that go with them. As a relative newcomer to the fantastic world of fragrance (a year and a half), I have found this site to be a wonderful resource and I love the giveaways! (Who doesn’t?)
If I should win, I would love the Twisted Lily gift certificate or the Sunshine. Tank you for all of the time, effort, and love that you put into Cafleurebon! I am in the US.

  • Happy birthday to this wonderful site! It’s seriously the first thing I do in the morning. I have to check on what new fragrance reviews and articles are out! I’ve been a member for about a little over a year or so. I still remember winning my first draw, it was so exciting because it was a fragrance I really wanted! As for suggestions on CFB, my advice would be to continue the incredible work guys! Your dedication and passion for fragrance has rubbed off on us all and I plan on being a member for a really long time.

I am in Canada so I’ll choose the gift certificate to Twisted Lily. Which is an amazing site by the way!

  • ÇafleureBon has been my go to source for indie and unknown perfume brands. I have been enjoying your creative and passionate posts about oerfume since 2011. I never knew such a thing existed before and I am so glad I stumbled upon it. ÇafleureBon means creative expression of what you love and perfume is a forgotten art. I love how much time and thought goes into each post and has opened the eyes and noses of people who have been experienced niche perfumery. Congrats on your 5 th year anniversary and here’s to 5 more! For my prize I would love the 100 ml of Sunshine Perfume from Amouage. I’m in the USA and thanks for the draw!

  • I have been reading your reviews for about a year now. I really love the variety of fragrances that get reviewed. I also enjoy the reviews being written by different authors it fun getting to see different points of view. Congrats on the five year anniversary I have really enjoyed the website its a wonderful place where people can share their love of fragrances! I would love to win the Sunshine from Amouage I live in the US. Thanks!

  • Congrats on the huge achievement! I’m been a member for maybe a year. I love this sit . The draws are fun and exciting and you all are so knowledgeable and cool. I love the interviews the most! This is one of my favorite websites and I visit everyday! I can only say to keep up the amazing work! I’m in Canada and choose the $150 certificate!

  • Congrats and Mazel Tov on 5 years! Wow– that’s a lot of writing! I first found CFB a couple years ago (seems like only yesterday…).

CaFleurBon is my first stop and often only stop for reading about perfume–whenever I can, I check in to read not only amazingly vivid reviews (with awesome expressive art!) but also about the individuals who compose and produce those fragrances, about the in-depth history of the ingredients, new scents and trends. Most of all the sense of an emerging community draws me in.

Thank you for the draw. I would love either one! Would choose Sunshine if I had to choose.

I read ÇaFleureBon every morning and have learned so much – not only about fragrances and the people who create them – but also about art and history. Congratulations on five years! I have been a reader for about 10 months and I also enjoy when Michelyn adds an occasional high-end cosmetic review. Should I win, I would like the Twisted Lily gift certificate.

  • I do not remember exactly when I started to follow and read this blog. It was at least 3 years ago. In the time when I ve tried to create my own fragrance wardrobe and was excited while reading fragrance s reviews over the internet. Since then I come back to this site. It is great how this blog became popular and well-known. Congrats to its creators! Since I do not live in US I must choose gift certificate.:-) Thanks

  • Happy birthday CaFleurbon! I’ve been a reader since 2014. I like that Cafleurebon has a greater focus on small, indie, niche and upcoming brands that do not otherwise seem to get a lot of mainstream press. The reviews of the re-launched Le Galion line inspired me to get samples of them all, no matter that distribution to the United States has not already begun! I am in the US and would love the Twisted Lily gift certificate.

  • happy birthday CFB — and specifically congratulations michelyn. slightly amending something a very lovely woman i know said to me recently: may the best of the past 5 years be the worst of the next 5 years to come.

    xoxox harper

and the gift certificate for me, should i win.

  • RusticDove says:

Congratulations and happy anniversary! Obviously, the joy of the success is mitigated by some very sad recent events, and I’m so very sorry.

I am pretty sure I’ve been reading since this lovely blog started. I had only recently discovered scent blogs and was so happy to find the perfumista community. The beauty and uniqueness of CaFleureBon sets it apart from other fragrance sites, and the draws offered are so generous. It really is a pleasure to spend some time here.

My heartfelt wishes for continued success (and happiness) in the coming years.

  • Congratulations on five years Michelyn and the CaFleurebon team! I am so happy you include artisans, natural perfumes and perfumers in your blog posts. I have been happy to donate perfumes so your readers can experience the difference! I have been a reader from the beginning and do look forward to the interesting articles on new perfumes and learning more about perfumers…The beautiful artwork pairings means so much to me..I am a big fan. I would love to be entered into the drawing…it would make a nice gift for someone…the yellow Sunshine bottle would suit me. One of my favorite colors…

  • Wow 5 years and has the time flew bye. I was trying to figure out how far back I go with Cafleurebon and I’m pretty sure it was in 2011. Many a nights I have gone to bed reading all the amazing stories and also guilty of snooping while at work. Some of my favorite stories consist of those rare interviews and where you pick a singular note and tell the history. I went from about three fragrances to over 60. I rotate everyone of them and have my favorites I repeat frequently. I never knew there were so many amazing scents out in the world until this blog. The writers, the visuals and true heart in each article keep me coming back daily. Thank you for all the valuable information each and everyone of you provide. Can’t wait to see what the future holds for Cafleurebon. In the USA and I would choose the Twisted Lily gift certificate. I have a list going for them. Ha ha.

  • Congratulations and happy anniversary! This blog is amazing. I have enjoyed reading since probably 2010, the very beginning, because I really got into fragrance about a year before that. One of the amazing things is that this blog fed my love of scent and the desire to know more about it. I am ever grateful to Michelyn and all the contributors! I would love the chance to win Amouage Sunshine. I am in the US. Thanks for all of your hard work, effort and dedication!
