It’s warmer weather in most of the Northern Hemisphere and tomorrow June 21, 2019 is the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year. There are no rules… spices in winter, fresh florals in summer. Take a look at our 2019 CaFleureBon best summer fragrances.

Neil Morris Fragrances Taj review

Neil Morris  Fragrances Taj by Robert H.

Summer has finally taken hold and here in the PacNW we’ve apparently skipped the “Juneuary/June gloom for a glorious sun-filled month! The fragrance I’ve been reaching for quite often came to me in a mixed sample box from a dear perfumista friend. It was a small and precious vial of a Neil Morris 2008 creation called Taj, inspired by Neil’s unforgettable early morning visit to the Taj Mahal, India’s architectural wonder, and one of planet Earth’s greatest testaments to love. Now you may think looking at the notes that this might be more appropriate for cooler months! But the heat of summer beautifully amplifies this spicy, woody creation. And it is exquisite. Taj explodes on my skin with a full spectrum array of colors; a veritable scented fireworks celebration. There’s the blue and pink-orange of the early morning sun, and the tannic herbal green of a first cup of tea from the chai-wallah. The bittersweetness of cinnamon is front and center, but softened by the deep rich and unfathomable dark chocolate, which adds not a gourmand vibe, but rather unforgettable inky-sweet coolness. It’s like running into the shaded interior of your favorite spice and attar shop on a blistering hot day, where you may be assailed by an exotic overabundance of spiced beauty. The oudh is present, but merely a soupçon supporting the other notes. As an aside I must mention that the first three days wearing this, I received more compliments that almost anything else. I usually don’t pay attention to this but with Neil Morris’ Taj….”Winner Winner Chicken Dinner

L'artisan parfumeur Poivre Piquant review original

L’Artisan Parfumeur Poivre Piquant by dana

L’Artisan Parfumeur Poivre Piquant (Bertrand Duchaufour) sits just to the right of a summer solstice, when days start shortening again and vital strength—however much left—is starting to regroup in new concepts, new cycles, and new light. Built as a spicy oriental, PP surprises with one of the most original compositions from L’Artisan: although clinging to the heat with a clear, spicy pepper, it actually manifests in a very airy, breezy kind of way through the means of an icy licorice, some salt, and a green iris. The whole effect is complemented by lactonic notes, creamy sandalwood, and floral honey, making this nostalgically personal like the chills from too much sun… or an almost-used tub of sunscreen left on the pontoon.

Neela Vermeire Creations Bombay bling review

Barbara Mullen in India, photographed by Norman Parkinson for Vogue 1956®

Neela Vermeire Créations Bombay Bling (Bertrand Duchaufour) is a stunning fragrance that I enjoy any time of the year, however it performs truly magnificently on sun-kissed skin. Delectable, thirst-quenching fruits (including the most beautiful fresh mango note I’ve ever experienced), an exotic white floral bouquet (the gardenia blooms really big on me, followed by the frangipani), pulsating spices (most notably cardamom and cumin), and a fascinating base (earthy patchouli, sweet tobacco, creamy sandalwood, delicious vanilla) are blended seamlessly together by the great Bertrand Duchaufour. So much more than the sum of its (many) parts, Bombay Bling is an oriental realized with the utmost French elegance, a fruity-floral extraordinaire with an almost beating heart. Effervescent like a champagne cocktail, exuberant like a perfect day at the beach, and sensual like an idyllic summer night, Neela Vermeire Créations Bombay Bling could very well be THE ONE fragrance I’d pack with me for the holidays…

Notes: Mango, Lychee, Blackcurrant, Cardamom, Cumin, Cistus; Rose Accord, Turkish Rose, Jasmine Sambac Absolute, Madagascar Ylang-Ylang, White Floral Accord of Tuberose, Frangipani, Gardenia; Patchouli, Tobacco, White Woods, Sandalwood, Cedar, Vanilla

Best summer fragrances artisan for 2019

Paperwhites by Susie Baird ©

I adore chypres any time of the year, it’s true – but during oppressive New England swelter I crave sparkly ones with lift. Sparkle vs. substance: must I always choose? Not when the chypre is Dawn Spencer Hurwitz’ Paper*White, the perfumer’s stunning 2018 Mother’s Day offering. Dawn spent a long time pondering this one before its creation: Susie Baird’s paper blossoms provided the final touch and inspiration – wordplay and design felicitously entwined, the love of fine paper and narcissus (some are known as paperwhites) aromatically encapsulated. DSH Perfumes Paper*White (Dawn Spencer Hurwitz) comprises a plethora of my favorite things: neroli and bergamot, My Favorite Jasmine (grandiflorum!), jonquil and narcissus (I faint), The Golden Standard (Mysore sandalwood), and of course inky oakmoss. All these swirl in the remnants of a vintage Aynsley bone china cup of Earl Grey. How could one resist? Delicate, full of depth and zephyr-light, it lingers on and on benevolently; it never gives up, and is so beautiful that it takes your breath away. Sometimes I marvel that I ever wear anything else and is without a doubt one of my favorite summer fragrances. It blooms in the heat.

Notes: bergamot, Earl Grey tea accord, Tunisian neroli, paper accord, jonquil absolute, narcissus absolute, grandiflorum jasmine absolute, Mysore sandalwood, papyrus, oakmoss

Astier de Villatte Cologne Grand Chalet summer fragrances review

Linden Blossom by Ermano

Astier de Villatte Cologne Grand Chalet: The smell of linden blossoms fills the air with its heady and melon-y intoxication. To me it’s the key to a diary filled with childhood memories. Just a whiff of its ethereal sweetness is enough to suddenly bring up images of the blooming season: lighter backpacks and end of the school year, birthday parties and summer afternoons biking through the countryside. The opening of Grand Chalet makes me feel lighthearted with its tender linden blossoms, brighter with citrus and greenery and is one of my favorite summer fragrances.  Slowly appears the powdery malice of mimosa though, which fruity sweetness fosters the hypnotic floral honey, along with the milky softness of blond woods.  A sudden subtle languor pervades everything, unconscious yet irresistibly vanillic, veiled by the sheer soapiness of musks that makes it fly high and one of my favorite summer fragrances. –-Ermano Picco, Editor

Antonio Alessandrio FARA review

Photograpy Magazine©

Master storyteller Antonio Alessandria‘s brilliantly summery Fara, with its bite of citrus, mint and spice, is perfect for hot, torpid days. Based on a specific Sicilian lemony-herbal hot weather drink, Fara distills bitter citrus into an effervescent burst of salt crashing into warm, bitter citrus. Alessandria infuses the tangy lime that crests on the salt note with sharp bergamot and a chilly hit of peppermint that cools everything down. A genius at adding heat to particular notes, he somehow infuses the tangy lime that crests on the salt note with slight warmth that makes it feel like soda whose ice has melted, then plays with hot and cold sensations throughout Fara’s development. If you’re looking for an offbeat, memorable citrus fragrance for the summer that won’t disappear on you, Fara is as good as it gets and is a favorite in my summer fragrances.

Notes: Bergamot, lemon, finger lime, peppermint, magnolia, light jasmine, cumin, cedarwood, cypress, incensemusky and amber notes.

best Summer fragrances 2019

Stargazer Lily by Gail

I love to “scent match” the perfumes of Mother Nature, melding my personal fragrance with the air and breezes of the gardens and forests that surround me.  Sarah Horowitz Parfums 2018 Banq de Parfum Verano (simply meaning “summer” in Spanish) distills the first floral flush and fizz of June and early July into a radiant fragrant aura.  Opening with one of my favorite notes in perfumery, cassis, Sarah Horowitz Parfums Verano, one fo my favorite summer fragrances, sparkles with a hint of fruity mint and a green bubbly aroma, recalling memories of champagne picnics, Pimms in paper cups and late afternoon concerts viewed from lush green lawns. The subtle use of black currant melds seamlessly with another of my most favored scents – the perfume of the stargazer Lily. In Verano Sarah Horowitz-Thran uses a discrete rendition of Star Gazer Lily, to paint a shimmering, transparent floral bouquet. The sensual, spiced and almost narcotic presence of the Stargazer in Sarah Horowitz Parfums Verano creates the sensation of the lily from a distance, just enough to entice but never overwhelm. The smooth lily petals and the effervescence of cassis fruit and garden flowers luxuriate on a bed of sheer sandalwood, white amber and clean musk.

Notes: Cassis, Stargazer lily, sandalwoodwhite amber and clean musk accord.

The Impudent Cousin Matthew Penahligon's London review

The Impudent Cousin Matthew by Clayton©

An effervescent citrus cocktail is what I reach for when the sun is high in the sky on a summer’s day. My approach to fragrance doesn’t fall far from the citrus tree either. I love a classic eau de cologne, modern “freshies;” anything that smells invigorating, zesty and clean. British house Penhaligon’s pushed all my right buttons with its recent addition to the Portraits Collection that began in 2016. The Impudent Cousin Matthew (2019) brings the collection to a total of fourteen portraits of characters that could be in an episode of the British television series Downton Abbey. Stories aside, The Impudent Cousin Matthew is a delightful take on the classic Eau de Cologne theme by the maestro of fresh colognes, Master Perfumer Alberto Morillas (ck ONE, Acqua di Gio Pour Homme, Mugler Cologne).  The fragrance opens with zesty citrus notes. Bitter lemon is balanced with the sweetness of mandarin and petitgrain has a cooling, green leafy effect. Juniper and cardamom add to the tonic effect of the fragrance, which fizzes away with lemony freshness. The body of the fragrance is based on woody notes; cypress, guaiac wood and patchouli are expressed in a subtle way. As the fragrance wears down on skin it reveals a white musk accord, which smells like a freshly laundered white shirt. Despite having a male name, the fragrance is impudent towards gender like all eau de colognes. The Impudent Cousin Matthew is wearable by both women and men.

Notes:  Lemon, mandarin, petitgrain, cypress, juniperberry, cardamom, guaiac wood, musk, patchouli.

summer fragrances Vie Dei Mille Sicilia review

Sun drenched and pure white, the Scala dei Turchi in Sicily © Anna Biasoli

Via Dei Mille Sicilia Zagara (Jacques Chabert and Nathalie Koobus): “Hot time, summer in the city. Back of my neck feeling dirty and gritty…” Summers in New York demand escape so I wear perfumes that clear my mind and send it somewhere far away. A favorite is the simple, elegant lemony neroli fragrance, Zagara, from Sicily by way of Grasse. The founder of the brand honors his grandfather who exported Sicilian neroli essence to perfumers in France after WWII. The ingredients, as well as his grandfather, are celebrated in this perfume that surrounds you in citrus from bud to fruit. A new favorite in my summer fragrances rotation.

Grandiflora Magnolia Michel review

Magnolia grandiflora courtesy of Michel Roudnitska© is one of Michelyn’s favorite summer fragrances

Grandiflora Magnolia Michel (Michel Roudnitska): This year it has been particularly sticky in New York City and I find myself reaching for the fleshy, moist magnolia by Michel Roudnitska.  When Saskia Havekes, the renowned Australian florist, writer and Creative Director started her perfume company in 2014, the first two perfumes Grandiflora Magnolia Sandrine and Grandiflora Magnolia Michel were introduced simultaneously.  The sadly departed  (2013) Sandrine Vidreault was a pupil of Edmond Roudnitska and when Michel learned she had been working on a magnolia  perfume for Saskia Havekes, he presented her with an unreleased fragrance he had created from his childhood memories of the magnolia tree that grew on his father’s estate in Cabris. “I have been working for several years on this flower which bewitches me each summer when we have lunch under the big tree planted beside the swimming pool. A nearly achieved original fragrance is born from this research. I am just waiting the good opportunity to launch it.”, he wrote to me in 2011. This is not a simple soliflores; imagine watching a photo time lapse of a magnolia growing from seed to full bloom. Freeze frame to the EXACT moment when the flower is at its peak. You can’t get the image out of your head. Intoxicating with a whiff of lemon, a bit of bark, green shoots giving way to the ambrosial scent of magnolia  at its height. I try not to tease out notes, but unmistakably there is jasmine and ylang ylang, a hint of musk and earthy patchouli.  Michel doesn’t create many fragrances these days, so it is a must for his fans. So realistic I can feel the dew drops fall from the petals on the magnolia flower onto my sun warmed skin.  I have yet to smell a perfume that makes NYC summers bearable with a single spritz.

Notes: Lemon, bergamot, grapefruit, jasmine, ylang-ylang, rose, magnolia, vetiver, patchouli and musk

  • What great and interesting summer selections. I see more than one Bertrand mentioned! That makes me so happy as he does great work. Also, there’s also a lot of florals, which I didn’t expect. I usually shy away from overly floral, but might have to test a few out. Northwest summers are usually pretty mild, so they might work well. I’d love to win Zagara, Bombay Bling, and Fara sound right up my alley. I’ve never tried any of these brands, but would like to. I’m in the US.

  • carlos_lager says:

A beautiful list with two of my personal favorites. L’Artisan Parfumeur Poivre Piquant is a new addition to my collection and i love it. I totally agree with you. It is one of their most original composition. Also I tried out The Impudent Cousin Matthew a few weeks ago. A very beautiful Eau de Cologne with a modern touch. Cant wait to try the ones from your list, I dont know yet.
If I were to win, I would love to get a bottle of Zagara, but I am also interested in Taj.
    Greetings from Austria (EU)

  • I am most drawn to the inspiration of Taj, as I am always fascinated by fragrances that take me to places that I so badly wish to venture to. I am most interested in Taj, then Bombay Bling, then Verano. Commenting from FL, USA

  • What a nice list with a lot of fragrances that i’ve never had the chance to try or never heard of them. I would love to win the Impudent Cousin Matthew cause all of the nice reviews about it, Poivre Piquant for the awesome description from Dana, the bottle of Zagara and Taj from Neil Morris for the beautiful notes list. I am in the EU, thanks for the draw.

  • Top notch contribution by all members of Cafleurebon.
Personally I know two of the fragrances chosen by the contributors- Poivre Piquant chosen by Dana Sandu , and The Impudent Cousin Matthew chosen by Clayton Ilolahia .
I do like the base of Poivre Piquant a lot , but the top is really hard to pass. All I get at first is pepper , and nothing else. As much as I like the base ,I can’t put clothespin on my nose and wait for the good part.
The Impudent Cousin Matthew I know because my brother owns it, and likes to literally bath with it.
I’d like to win one of Via Del Mille Sicilia Zagara , or 2×15 ML bottles of Bombay Bling .
USA…. and Germany from time to time

  • I love Michel Roudnitska work for Parfums DelRae and I love magnolia. He’s my favorite perfumer and I loved Michelyn ‘s story and beautiful description. Grandiflora Magnolia Michel and sarah Horowitz parfums verano are my choices

  • Doni Light says:

Ahhhh my dear cousin Matthew! Have been wearing it ever since it arrived – a fantastically crisp petitgrain and orange – green soap cranked to 11. Definitely get the freshly laundered white shirt vibe. Guess that’s why I’m so interested in Zagara. Pour moi, summer is the season for simplicity, tonicity and lemony neroli. Seems like Zagara would fit in nicely. Would absolutely love to win that one. Canada.

  • Lauren Boucher says:

I love the new site! Its so easy to use – thank you! The last time I smelt fresh magnolia I was visiting my mother outside of Seattle and they had them outside of the hotel. I would love to try the magnolia perfume! I live in New Hampshire. Thank you for the draw!

  • A very interesting set of fragrances. The two that most appeal to me are Taj and Fara. I’d love to win either one. I’m in the US.

  • fazalcheema says:

Despine thinks Bombay Bling is a year-round fragrance that is oriental with French elegance that has the best mango note she has ever experienced. Zagara is a lemony neroli perfume that pays tribute to founder’s grandfather who provided neroli essence to perfumers in France. My choices are:

    Zagara
    Grandiflora Magnolia Michel
    Bombay Bling

    I am in US

  • Not yet hot in California! But when it does heat up, I’d love to try the Zagara or Bombay Bling. I agree, the Grandiflora is lovely, excited to wear it again under the summer sun.

  • It was so interesting to see how the perfect summer scent differs from person to person, ranging from fresh and classic citrus colognes, to fruity melanges, to intoxicating florals. Ermanno’s description of the beginning of summer particularly lovely, for it was familiar. Along with the scent of linden blossoms, which we still have right now. I would love to win Grandiflora, Zagara and Taj, from Europe. Thank you!

  • marcopietro says:

What a beautiful selection of fragrances! Some truly irresistible in their exquisite elegance and brilliance.
I’d like to win all of them, but obliged to choose my preference goes to DSH Perfumes Paper*White, Penhaligon’s The Impudent Cousin Matthew or Neil Morris Fragrances Taj.
    I’m in the EU
    Thanks!

  • Laurentiu says:

Antonio Alessandria’s Fara sound really intriguing with it’s back story of distilled drink from Sicilly.

I would like to win Fara, Bombay Bling and Zagara as I am in EU.

    Thank you!

  • I love Ida’s choice of chypre! Personally I’d wear anything anytime. Wearing heavy scents like Opium or Bandit is my way of fighting back the hot weather!
Thanks for the draw! I’d love to win Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Voile de Parfum of paper*whites, Saskia Havekes Grandiflora Magnolia Michel, Neela Vermeire Bombay Bling. I live in EU.

  • Looking at these wonderful scents my interest is pushed towards the Perfumer Antonio Alessandria, I got to try his extraordinary creations, they transport you to Sicily with an unmistakable style, you find yourself in the noble Sicilian houses like a “fresh wind”, I love very much “Nacre Blanche” ……. so I’d like to hear Fàra. Linda UE

  • CaFleureBon team, I like your take on summer scents, the perfumes seem so refreshing (Taj isn’t but it does sound delightful)! The one that’s most appealing to me is DSH: Ida says that Paper*White comprises a plethora of her favourite things, – well, they’re all my favourite things, as well: white florals, sparkling citrus notes and a bit of Earl Grey. Michel is another one I’d like to try, the reason is Michel Roudnitska: I admire his and his father’s work.
I live in Russia (it’s so hot here in summer!). I’d be happy to win any one of these:
    50 ml Grandiflora Magnolia Michel
DSH 10 ml Voile de Parfum of paper*whites
Neil Morris Fragrances 30 ml of Taj
    Antonio Allesandria
    Thank you for the draw!

  • I love your fragrance types! Neither obvious nor very popular.
Personally I love spices and warm notes in summer and I don’t connect them with colder months.
As a lover of flowers and natural aromas I would like to win: Taj, Zagara, Paper White, Magnolia Michel, Bombay Bling.
    I live in Poland, EU.

  • I know Bombay Bling and adore its untoxicating aroma. Honestly… I lack with summer fragrances and I would love to know the new ones. That is why I choose Taj, Zagara, Paper White, Magnolia, Bombay Bling, Fara and Bombay Bling.
    Poland.
    Thank you a lot!

  • Didn’t expect the Bombay Bling as it wears better on me in cooler weather. The Taj is appealing, I had never heard of it before. Drawn to The Impudent Cousin Matthew for it’s, “…delightful take on the classic Eau de Cologne theme by the maestro of fresh colognes, Master Perfumer Alberto Morillas”. To win: 1) Bombay Bling, 2) Taj, 3) Zagara
    USA

  • VerbenaLuvvr says:

I do quite like the combination of citrus and mint for summer, and have been interested in Fara since your first feature on the fragrance. I live in the US and would select Fara or Taj if so fortunate to win. Thank you for the draw.

  • Such an outstanding list that team CaFleureBon has put together! I always love reading the diversity in this type of post. I love each of their choices, so it makes it difficult to make a decision as to which I would choose for my HOT desert climate. Finally, I decided on the following.
Grandiflora Magnolia Michel, Fara & Zagara.
Thanks to Team CaFleureBon for keeping us all in the know, and to the generosity of those supplying the draws always.

  • This is a beautiful selections of summer perfumes, from which I know only Dana’s choice – Poivre Piquant. I am fascinated by the photographic description of Grandiflora Magnolia Michel as I love big white florals and I would like to win it, if lucky enough. But also Bombay Bling, DSH Paper*White or Taj – all of them are very appealing to me. Thanks for the draw, cheers from Romania.

  • WaltherP99 says:

Enjoyed my time reading this. Good job all of you.
Magnolia Grandiflora Michael is a fragrance I’m not a fan of. Love my bottle of Boronia , but Magnolia is really indolic on me . Sorry Michelyn
The Impudent Cousin Matthew I own. Pure class in a bottle. Nice choice Clayton. Of course some women could wear it , I’m all about “Wear what you want, and what makes you happy, and not what says on the bottle” , but I still think it leans more masculine.
    My choices are:
    1) Neela Vermeire 2x15ml bottles of Bombay Bling
    2) Via Dei Mille Sicilia Zagara
    Thank you for the draw
Virginia USA, or London UK and EU , at least 97/100 times

  • Such varied summer fragrances. It’s nice and not too hot here in Spain so my choice would be
Grandiflora Magnolia, Bombay Bling take 2 and Zagara. I own a sample of Fara

  • From a citrus cocktail to beautiful Magnolia and Paper Whites, the choices are all wonderful! The fantastic Penhaligon’s portraits collection are all so very unique. Thanks for another fabulous giveaway! If lucky: The Impudent Cousin Mathew, Zagara, Grandiflora Magnolia Michel, Verano Summer Banq, Taj, Bombay Bling, Paper White, Fara. Mich USA

  • I truly enjoyed the variety of the fragrances presented here, from spicy to citrusy to juicy fruit notes. I was especially pleased to see Dawn’s Paper White, a uniquely delicate creation. I gave it to my best friend for her birthday back in April and it’s become her signature scent. I would love to win the following:

    1. Fara by Antonio Alessandria

    2. Bombay Bling by Neela Vermeire

    3. Banq de Parfum Verano by Sarah Horowitz

I appreciate the opportunity! I live in the USA.

  • This is the quote that most resonated with me, by Ermano Picco, “Just a whiff of its ethereal sweetness is enough to suddenly bring up images of the blooming season: lighter backpacks and end of the school year, birthday parties and summer afternoons biking through the countryside.” I too love the scent of florals to make me feel like summer is really here. I always enjoy the diversity of the choices of your editors. It illustrates the wide variety of perfume choices and the fact that if you don’t love it, someone else will. These all sound great but My top choices would be:
    Bombay Bling
    Magnolia Grandiflora Michele
    Zagara
Thanks for the ideas and the draw. And can you please make the math problems less hard?!

  • ah magnolias — these trees are in bloom as i type in southern california (late in this rather cool spring — now summer!) i love sip magazine street for that, but would really love to try Grandiflora Magnolia Michel as well. the other scent i am very fond of is linden, and i may have to seek out Astier de Villatte Cologne Grand Chalet — it sounds lovely.

my choice would be Grandiflora Magnolia Michel.

    i’m in the US.

  • These all sound beautiful and I’m lacking summer type fragrances because I lovee my sweet and oriental fragrances! So this one sounds the most up my alley. Would be so wonderful to not have to give up my oriental in the summer!

“Despine thinks Bombay Bling is a year-round fragrance that is oriental with French elegance that has the best mango note she has ever experienced.”

If I won I’d love any of the following, thank you for the chance….

    1- Taj
    2- Bombay Bling
    3- Grandiflora Magnolia Michel

  • Bubeto_GG says:

“the most beautiful fresh mango note I’ve ever experienced … an exotic white floral bouquet …. pulsating spices … and a fascinating base are blended seamlessly together by the great Bertrand Duchaufour.”

    +
“A favorite is the simple, elegant lemony neroli fragrance, Zagara, from Sicily by way of Grasse”

I also need a fragrance like this … right now. Scorching hot weather king of fragrance.

If lucky one of Bombay Bling or Zagara will be great.
    Thanks
Back and forth between USA and Scotland (EU/UK) . 1 week in US -> 1 week in Scotland , and so on.Basically both USA and EU/UK at the same time.

  • In a way I loved that with almost all fragrances mentioned here its very hard to get some samples – its great to know that the world of perfume out there is even much bigger then I can even imagine. On the other hand its a bit sad that I probably will never be able to test all those fragrances mentioned.

I am most interested in, and would like to win:
    Taj
    Zagara
    Grandiflora Magnolia Michel
    Fara

    Liebling in Germany, EU

  • Elizabeth T. says:

This list is filled with such a great variety! Everything from citrus to chypre, with many different florals in between. The one that caught my attention the most was Paper*whites. When I read the words “the love of fine paper and narcissus,” I had a strange sense of deja vu of some previous stage in my life… so I guess that would be my favorite to try! I’d also love to try Zagara, Michel and Fara. I’m in the USA. Thank you for this wonderful list and generous draw!!

  • Wonderful list I think. All of them sounds wonderfully in their own way. However I have not try any of them, but those are sounds very good. If I would be as lucky to win, my choices are:
    – Zagara
    – Grandiflora Magnolia Michel
    – Taj
    – Bombay Bling
    – Voile de Parfum of paper*whites

Thank you for the draw. I live in EU.

  • NiceVULady says:

The florals and citrus elements recur in so many of these fragrances. I do find myself attracted to these as well, especially as my summers are incredibly hot and humid. What a great selection. I would love to win: Taj, Grandiflora Magnolia Michel, Verano, Zagara, Bombay Bling, or Paper White. What a plethora of riches. Thank you for the draw. I’m in the USA

  • Interesting and diverse choices. Of all I know The Impudent Cousin Matthew . Sebastian did a review on his YouTube channel a few months ago, and I had to go check it out. It’s done in a classic way . Reminds me of a classics like Eau Sauvage Christian Dior. As a Barber I love old timers. Not many girls can wear a fragrance like this. At least in my surroundings. It’s too bitter .
Both Zagara and Bombay Bling are my type of fragrances. Zagara is more classy , and Bombay Bling contains my favorite fruit mango . I’m

  • Interested in both.
Thank you for the giveaway , and sorry for the double post not sure what happened.
    USA

  • Such a great list of summer scents! I own Bombay Bling and it just evokes happiness when I wear it. It is such a cheerful fragrance!!!

I love the notes of Dawn Spencer Hurwitz’ Paper*White. I adore fresh, clean neroli based scents for summer. That’s why I love Mugler Cologne so much. And seeing that the perfume who made Mugler Cologne created The Impudent Cousin Matthew, I definitely have to get a bottle of it!

All the fragrances are gorgeous but my first choice if I win would be Dawn Spencer Hurwitz 10 ml Voile de Parfum of paper*whites. Otherwise Via Dei Mille Sicilia Zagara or Neil Morris Fragrances Taj.

    I live in the US.

  • lilacdays says:

Unfortunately, I’m not familiar with any of the perfumes here. Would love to try out Michelyn’s choice Grandiflora Magnolia Michel, Ida’s choice Paperwhites from DSH or Despina’s choice Bombay Bling.
Two of my favourite summer scents is Melodie de L’amour from Dusita and Phisolykos de Diptyque (I know, I know, they couldn’t be more different).

“The moon is swimming naked and the summer night is fragrant with a mighty expectation of relief.”-Leonard Cohen. When I read this spectacular review on the best Summer fragrances, I couldn’t help but think of the late, great Mr. Cohen. Cafleurebon team, please bless me with Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Voile de Parfum of paper*whites. The perfect blend of neroli, bergamot, Grandiflora, jonquil, and narcissus makes my nose tingle with excitement! I would also LOVE to win Taj by Neil Morris Fragrances. I am a true romantic at heart and to own a fragrance inspired by planet Earth’s greatest testaments to love, the Taj Mahal, would be wonderful! And of course, the idea of smelling like a spice and attar shop really appeals to the little minx in me!

  • arlene1622 says:

Forgot to mention, I am from the current wintery Southern Hemisphere, more specifically Pretoria, South Africa 😉

  • Harbinger says:

A fruity floral extraordinare with an almost beating heart….my gosh! Would love to try Bombay Bling! I would keep one and share the other with my mother. Thanks for the chance to win! USA

  • What a beautiful choice!! Really it’s difficult to pick up one or two perfumes from this range.
I like description of Taj- as fresh, colorful “fireworks celebration”. And Neela’s Bombay Bling- I have read so many interesting reviews about this perfume.
    My choice are:
    Zagara
    Grandiflora Magnolia Michel
    Bombay Bling
    Fara
    from USA

  • Thank-You to all for the reviews and fragrances. I’ve been dying literally to try the house Grandiflora and the sad but beautiful story that brought Michel Roudnitskas Magnolia there moves me as does his reason for creating it sitting under those wonderful smelling trees. Michelin has described the magnolia ambrosial and at it’s peak with Ylang and Jasmine and must try. My second choice would have to be the spicy Taj by Neil Morris Robert has described a colorful array of scents like a spice shop I’m and rule breaker when it come to fragrances and I’d love to try this also,USA

  • I love the linden blossoms ode of Ermano and the tender story behind Magnolia Michel. I live in Italy and I should like to win Grandiflora’s Magnolia, thanks…

  • gunmetal24 says:

I find that every editor has a unique viewpoint on what enthralls them individually as the CHOICE for the summer. Every choice here feels meaningful, real and individual. Based in Canada.

    2. Grandiflora Magnolia Michel

  • I could only dream of winning Neela Vermeire Bombay Bling with its mango, the photo realistic grandiflora Magnolia or Zagora for its citrus cocktail. Everyone wrote such great reviews

  • Uncle1979 says:

Neela Vermeire Créations I’ve heard, but never smelled. Bombay Bling sound wonderful , and it’s made by Bertrand Duchaufour – one of the best in the business.
All the notes are super appealing. Pastry Chef in me is intrigued.
Zagara sounds classy. Like a fragrance you should wear with a suit. Classy, non offensive, and yet smelling good.
Without a doubt the two most appealing to me fragrances in this list. If lucky one will be great.
    Appreciate the giveaway campaign

Interestingly enough, I feel I have a lot in common with senior editor Robert Hermmann. I am also in the Pacific Northwest US, and I also adore spiced scents and tea scents for summer! The ‘veritable scented fireworks celebration’ as he describes Neil Morris Taj sounds like exactly what I’ve been missing from my summer wardrobe, as I’ve been finishing up all the chai/spice/tea samples I have in the mercurial PNW summer and have been craving even more. Poivre Piquant also sounds tantalizing, especially since it has been on my try list for awhile now! If I win, I would love the Taj, but my second choice would be the Bombay Bling and my third the Sarah Horowitz Banq Verano! I am in the US 🙂

  • bigscoundrel says:

I was really drawn into Taj, “Taj explodes on my skin with a full spectrum array of colors; a veritable scented fireworks celebration”. I’d love to win Taj. Banq de Parfum and Grandiflora would also be incredible.

  • I found this quote appealing in regards to Paperwhites. “Delicate, full of depth and zephyr-light, it lingers on and on benevolently; it never gives up, and is so beautiful that it takes your breath away. Sometimes I marvel that I ever wear anything else and is without a doubt one of my favorite summer fragrances. ”
I’ll love to win a bottle of Zagara.
    Verano Summer Banq.
    I live in USA.

  • this is the first time I write a comment, I am French and lives in France,I do not like fruity perfumes because too sweet and too sweet on my skin but I really want to wear Bombay Bling in the hope of finding a pleasant and not disgusting fruit perfume.I would like to test a beautiful scent of narcissus as Dsh Paper White is a brand that is not found in France!I like perfumes with citrus but I can not find a cologne that lasts on my skin I would like to test Fara,I am in love with Bergamotto di Calabria of Perris Monte Carlo. I tried eau de magnolia Frederic Malle I did not like at all I have not tried any perfume Michel Roudniska if his magnolia Grandiflora is truer than nature I am very interested.he only linden that i found interesting was linden by Olivia Giacobetti for the perfumes of Orsay which reminds me of the Eau Baptiste for her brand Iunx but also the Eau du Ciel of Isabelle Doyen for Annick Goutal.I have very want to try Grand Chalet.

  • Wonderful list of summer perfumes. I adore a few of the perfumes mentioned. I would love to win:
    – Via Dei Mille Sicilia for a bottle of Zagara
    – Grandiflora Magnolia Michel
    – Neela Vermeire Bombay Bling
    – Voile de Parfum of paper*whites

Thank you for this wonderful draw. I live in EU.

  • redwheelbarrow says:

Some lovely sounding summer options here. Magnolia sounds divine and I would love to win a bottle. The imagery of the magnolia in peak blossom is so captivating. The scent reminds me of childhood summers as well. Thank you for the draw. I am in the US.

  • doveskylark says:

I’m happy Neil Morris is represented here. I can’t be without his Flowers for Men series, especially his gardenia creation. I haven’t tried Taj, but his inspiration stirred up some wanderlust inside of me. I have also tried Bombay Bling, and talk about stirring up wanderlust. That is such a joyful fragrance.

    I would choose:
    Taj
    Fara
    Paper White
    Verano
    Zagaro
    Bombay Bling

    I live in the USA.

Most reviewers are really into florals 🙂 It’s does not matter if ti’s spring , summer , autumn or winter . I do have a feeling like 80% of the fragrances in some of those guys collections are floral heavy.
I do know two of of the choices here – Poivre Piquant L’Artisan Parfumeur , and The Impudent Cousin Matthew Penhaligon’s .
The first one i own , and i have a sample of the “Cousin”.
I’m really surprised Dana is considering Poivre Piquant to be a summer scent . To each to his own i guess , but i only wear it in colder rainy days in spring and autumn.
The “Cousin” is really good , but performance is bad on my skin. It’s not a cheap fragrance , so i can’t re-apply 2-3 times per day.
“most beautiful fresh mango note I’ve ever experienced””
Hmmm – interesting statement . The very best mango fragrance to me is Cruz del Sur II Xerjoff.
I like how the founder of the brand celebrates his grandpa with Zagara.
Thanks to all reviewers for sharing their choices for the summer.
If luck is on my side :
    *2 x 15 ml of Bombay Bling
    *Via Dei Mille Sicilia Zarara
USA … and Germany from time to time

I enjoyed this whole post but in particular felt myself drawn in by Ermano’s thoughts about Astier de Villatte Cologne Grand Chalet. The smell of linden blossom also invokes tender nostalgia for summer days in childhood. Summer has kicked in full force where I live but I haven’t had enough time to mellow out enough to feel “languor pervade everything…” if a fragrance can make that happen for me, I’m more than sold. If only I could turn back time… ahh, on a Sunday afternoon it’s especially easy to sink into a melancholic nostalgia, but what I really need to do is make time and mental space to enjoy the present. I live in the USA and would be over the moon thrilled to win Grandiflora Magnolia Michel (more of a spring scent for me, but hey, who doesn’t want to smell like a refreshing spring breeze when the muggiest days of summer roll around?!) or delighted with Neela Vermeire’s Bombay Bling or Neil Morris Taj. Thanks for the draw!

  • I love summer but in Florida here it’s summer all the time. I loved the story of grandiflora Michel, Fara and would also love nvc Bombay Bling or Dsh paper white’s
    An enticing list
Where do I find Antonio Alessandria in the USA? I really can’t find them

  • Michelyn Camen’s description of magnolias took me right back to childhood and the magnolia trees in my grandparent’s yard. I’d love to try the Grandiflora Magnolia Michel. My own daughters used to gather the petals from magnolia flowers and breathe deeply with them held to their tiny faces when they were just toddlers. It’s the BWF that embodies summer for me!
Taj and Bombay Bling sound like a type summer I’ve never experienced but would like to!
    I’m in the US.

Wow, what a marvelous selection of summer juices!!! All of them sounds lovely, but especially FARA: “Alessandria infuses the tangy lime that crests on the salt note with sharp bergamot and a chilly hit of peppermint that cools everything down. A genius at adding heat to particular notes, he somehow infuses the tangy lime that crests on the salt note with slight warmth that makes it feel like soda whose ice has melted, then plays with hot and cold sensations”…
This year the nordic summer here is unusually hot and i am reaching for scents with refreshing notes: mint, green tea, salt, rhubarb, neroli, but to my surprise also some heavy scents with prominent immortelle sounds very good in dry summer heat.

Thank you for your generousity, I live in Latvia (EU) and my choice would be:
    – FARA by Antonio Allesandria,
    – Taj Neil Morris,
    – Bombay Bling Neela Vermeire,
    – paper*whites DSH parfums,
    – Magnolia Grandiflora Michel Grandiflora,
    – Zagara Via Dei Mille Sicilia.

  • What appeals to me about Best Summer Fragrance is the variety selection is really awesome. I’m familiar with most of these favorites. I love the idea of citrusy scents for cooler weather but they do not like me back. So I appreciate the smokey and spicey favorites listed. My choices would be Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Voile de Parfum of paper*whites, Via Dei Mille Sicilia Zagara (Jacques Chabert and Nathalie Koobus), or Sarah Horowitz Parfums Banq de Parfum Verano. IS resident

  • Gosh, these all sounds lovely, I love hearing about the inspirations for perfumes and perfumers. As soon as I read “back of my neck…” I could hear the song in my head, even tho I don’t know all the words! I love the idea of a scent that can combat the heat radiating of the concrete and buildings on the way home from work after a day on a cool office. I would love to try Verano, then grandiflora magnolia, then Taj (maybe it will work as well for me in the great PNW), zagara, Bombay bling, fara, then paperwhites. I’m in the us. Thank you for the draw and the lovely reviews. I will need to hunt down a sample of that impudent cousin!

  • I really enjoyed reading about the various summer selections! A few I had heard of and a few were new to me. I was happy to see Poive Piquant as it’s one of my favorites in summer. My choices are: Banq de Parfum Verano, Grandiflora, and Fara. Thanks for the generous giveaway and I live in the US!

Great summer fragrance list. I would love to try Via Dei Mille Sicilia Zagara, The Impudent Cousin Matthew, L’Artisan Parfumeur Poivre Piquant, and Sarah Horowitz Parfums Banq de Parfum Verano appeal to me the most.

  • Inspiration of Taj Mahal sounds as ideal composition for hot Summer as a Summer in India always is. I would like to win 1. Taj, 2. Bombay Bling, 3. Grandiflora Magnolia Michel, 4. Zagara, 5. Paper*White. Great list of summer fragrances, thank you for a draw. I live in Poland.

  • Love the Bombay Bling and the The Impudent Cousin Matthew.
Looking forward to trying these. Live in the Netherlands (EU)

  • These all sound great. Impudent Mathew and Bombay Bling interest me the most. Thanks for the draw, US

  • “Effervescent like a champagne cocktail, exuberant like a perfect day at the beach, and sensual like an idyllic summer night, Neela Vermeire Créations Bombay Bling could very well be THE ONE fragrance I’d pack with me for the holidays…” I really loved that quote and would love to try Bombay bling. Also Zagara or The Impudent Cousin Matthew. In CT USA. Thanks
