Berdoues Oud Al Sahraa, Hoja De Cuba and Russkaya Kozha Review + Grand Crus Draw

arfums Berdoues Oud Al Sahraa Hoja De Cuba Russkaya Kozha review

Berdoues Oud Al Sahraa, Hoja De Cuba and Russkaya Kozha By Sebastian

When introducing the Grand Crus collection in 2016,  Berdoues reminded us that “Not every wine is a Grand Cru. The same is true for perfumes.” Like a fine wine, each fragrance in the Berdoues pays homage to terroir and focuses every fragrance around a single ingredient and a travel destination thus the title of Grand Crus each of the beautifully designed bottles. The three Editor Sebastian Jara chose lean more masculine, but can be worn by men and women with ease. At $88 for 100 ml, you can afford a niche perfume at less than designer fragrances prices.  Each makes a great  holiday gift (check out our 12 niche, artisan  natural perfume  Holiday gifts draw!!! here).

  • My choice is Oud Al Sahraa which Sebastian finds quite resinous, with myrrh playing a major role in the composition. I am in US.

  • Kimberly Phong says:

Russkaya Kozha sounds so interesting to me! I have yet to find a leather fragrance that I enjoy so it’d be interesting to see how this one smells to me

  • Sebastian from Smelling Great Fragrances posted a great video featuring Russkaya Kozha. I am interested in fragrances with a leather note and found this one intriguing. It would be great to win a bottle to wear this fragrance all winter.

  • Sebastian, thank you for your descriptions of these fragrances, I love your videos, I live in the US, I am very excited and curious about exploring fragrances that have leather as primary notes so Russkaya Kozha is definitely what I am excited about.
    Thanks Again.

  • Richard Biddle says:

I always enjoy Sebastian’s reviews! On point and very detailed. I especially enjoyed his description of Russkaya Kozha. A blend of cardamom and benzoin sounds heavenly and I’d love to own this one! Cheers!

  • I’d like to win Russkaya Kozha for the warm benzoin and cardamom notes Sebastian mentioned. VA, USA.

  • I like how Sebastian described Oud Al Sahraa as an easy to wear oud, which is important to me since I am very selective when it comes to that note. Hoja De Cuba sounds great too as an aromatic, herbal tobacco that is not ashy. While I am not a huge fan of leather fragrances, Sebastian’s description of it as benzoin and leather match made in heaven does make it sound intriguing. Thanks for the generous draw, I would love to win Oud Al Sahraa. Boston USA.

  • I really love Oud fragrances so I am always trying out Oud from different houses and I haven’t come across Berdoues perfumes so I would love to try out Oud Al Sahraa to see how it is.

  • This new series was explained very well, orientals seem to be a comfortable niche for this brand. I prefer the promising sweet dryness of Oud Al Sahraa. Thank you

  • The affordability of a niche brand is great. Although he says these lean took the masculine side would love to try them. USA
Would like the Hoja De Cuba

  • Nice review. I didnt know anything about this house until today. These are some of my favorite notes in fragrance. Oud, leather and tobacco.
It would be tough to choose one but the leather would be the fragrance I’d look forward to trying most followed by oud.

Thx for entering me in the draw

  • What always appeals to me is the thoroughness of Sebastian’s reviews, coupled with his enthusiasm. And because of those facts, I want to get my hands/nose on Hoja de Cuba. Gotta love a year-round fresh tobacco. YASSSSSSSSSSSS!

  • I would love to get Oud Al Sahraa. Sebastian description was fantastic. Being that myrrh is my favorite note, I love myrrh dominated scents. I live in US by the way.

  • I love Sebastian’s video blogs because they come from a man who is truly passionate about his fragrances. In fact I look forward to his offering of the day every evening, and its become a routine! Today was no exception, and I was educated about what appears to be a wonderful new house (to me). I love tobacco fragrances and would love to win and wear Hoja de Cuba. I live in TX, USA. Thank you

  • Sebastian always delivers amazing reviews. He describes the fragrances so well and gives them life. He also introduces many houses that lots of people have not discovered. All 3 sounded interesting in his review. The Oud, the tobacco, and the benzoin are the notes that stuck out to me from each fragrance. If I should win I would choose Oud Al Sahraa. It sounds nice with the Myrrh and i do not own any Oud fragrances. I do physically live in CT USA. Thanks for the generous draw

  • Great review Sebastian! The bottles are lovely and the price is amazing for a niche brand. I’m a leather aficionado and would love to win Russkaya Kozha. I’m in the US.

  • Sebastian’s description of Oud Al Sahraa sounded inviting. I am a fan of unisex fragrances and myrrh so, please count me in for this fabulous draw! USA

  • Gabriel Garcia Leyva says:

Great review by Sebastian, not familiar with house of Berdoues, the ingredients are quite palatable, and a nice price, i liked all of them, excellent choices, but I would be more attracted to the oud al sahraa,,
    Las Vegas NV

  • I’m in USA. His description of all three makes them sound yummy. These all are notes that make my nose happy!

  • Sebastian always does amazing fragrance reviews!! It’s great how he breaks down the notes in his reviews.
I love Berdoues Hoja De Cuba, it was my SOTD today!

  • I love Oud so I’m going for Oud Al Sahraa – mandarin, myrrh and oud. Dreaming already. Haven’t tried any from this house so it is exciting to win. Fabulous review Sebastian! Im from IL, USA.

  • polaroidcaesar says:

Loved Sebastian’s review because it was, as usual, short, sweet, and to the point. I was especially drawn by his description of Russkaya Kozha with its mix of aromatics and balsams with leather. That sounds right up my alley, so I would love to win that one! I’m located in Alabama, USA.

  • My teenage son is looking for his first fragrance and Oud Al Sahraa sounds like a wonderful introduction. Hoping to help him avoid the potentially bad choices of his tender age.

  • Joseph Fragale says:

I loved the idea of 100ml for under a 100 dollars. Sebastian definitely caught my interest. I am going to check them out. Please include me in the Giveaway, I live in NJ USA.

  • I love that Sebastian reviewed an accessible house and detailed three fragrance types. Right of the bat, I thought the tobacco scent would not be for me, but he made it sound intriguing. I’m off oud for the moment but always love cardamon and it sounds great with the leather. It doesn’t hurt that that is his favorite. Henceforth and verily, (snort) I’d love to try the Russkaya Kozha . I live in NY.

  • Wilson Siavichay says:

I’m so exiting in the way how Sebastian review all this 3 perfumes and definitely I will like to try Hoja de Cuba because I love tabacco essence

  • Loved Sebastian’s review, his enthusiasm is great. I would love to try the russkaya with the cardamom, cade wood and leather. In the us.

  • Sebastian’s review for the Berdoues Oud Al Sahraa now makes me more intrigued about the brand scent. Im starting to appreciate more of oud niche fragrances and this seems to be a good addition to my collection as well. It would be awesome to have a bottle of it. Im based in Dallas, Texas, and it would be awesome to be the first ones to have your scent around my area.

  • 1stly, beautiful bottles/packaging. great short perfectly descriptive reviews—and based on sebastian’s review, my choice would have to be berdoues oud al sahraa. thank you!

  • Big fan of vetiver and a big fan of tobacco! Both together?! I need to give Hoja De Cuba a try. It would be the one I would choose! USA

  • Excellent review by Sebastian and I always enjoy his detailed descriptions! I love both oud and leather fragrances, so I will go with Russkaya Kozha as my choice based on Sebastian’s love of it. I trust his judgement and he has great taste. Thanks for the giveaway and I live in the US!

  • Berdoues Oud Al Sahraa sounds wonderful! I am new to oud but am quickly falling in love with it, as well as my husband. It would be wonderful to get my nose on this fragrance Sebastian has described as a faintly citrusy, spicy and resinous oud.

  • redwheelbarrow says:

These all sound fantastic for the cold weather season. The only Berdoues I have tried is Maasai Mara. I think I would choose Russkaya Kozha based on Sebastian’s review. I love a less animalic leather fragrance. Thank you for the draw. I’m in the US.

  • I own Hoja de Cuba and have been dying to try the others. I initially thought I would want Oud al Sahraa but the way Sebastian describes Russkaya Kozha makes me think it would be perfect for this time of year. If I am lucky enough to win I would choose Russkaya.

  • wallygator88 says:

Thanks for the excellent review Sebastian. I’m currently watching your video with Pauline.
I liked your choices for fragrances and for telling us why you picked these three.
    My preference would be
    1. Hoja De Cuba
    2. Oud Al Sahraa
    3. Russkaya Kozha

    Love from Madison, WI

  • willyrose68 says:

Sebastian has the ability to walk you through a fragrance profile so well that you feel like you can actually smell what he is describing with that said I liked each description more that the last, I love complex ouds, and tobaccos and though leather is not my first choice I love benzoin so it all seemed so attractive.

  • These designs on the bottle are absolutely stunning. I especially love the ease of wear associated with these niche fragrances. It’s especially good to know that they are centered around a single note. Very practical bottles. I would be interested in Hoja de Cuba.(USA)

  • Maasaï Mara I bought in UK London. Really nice warm ambery fragrance with lots of dried fruits. I was not aware Berdoues fragrances are available in US . Good to know .
Oud Al Sahraa is my pick. Pleasing Myrrh and Oud.
    Thanks
    @cafleurebon, @lookfeelsmellgreat @berdouesgrandcrus and @amerikasnyc I already follow , I’ll check @berdouesgrandcrusa too .

  • Scott Wilbur says:

Oud Al Sahraa sounds amazing because I’m a Myrrhe Man! Sebastian brings these scents to life! IL USA! Thanks!!

  • I really enjoyed Sebastian’s review of the 3 fragrances. I think that’s such an affordable price for the quality of perfumes. I really liked his description of Oud Al Sahraa the most because it sounded like it was the most unisex and easy to wear.
    I live in the USA.

  • citizenkage says:

They all sound great! I’m kind of leaning towards the Hoja de Cuba because I love tobacco. I’ve had the pleasure of smoking a few cuban cigars in my day, being from Miami. The name of the fragrance also spoke to me for that reason. I also am intrigued by the Russkya Kozha because that was Sebastian’s favorite and I trust his opinion. But, if I were to win I’d choose the Hoja de Cuba. West Palm Beach, FL.

  • patrick_348 says:

I would choose Oud Al Sahraa. I liked the way Sebastian described these in practical terms, with regard to wearability. Having three fragrances in the review allowed him to compare and contrast them in a way that was useful. He got me curious about benzoin. I also liked his appreciation of the price point for these, which is another slant related to practicality. Thanks for a good review! I am in the US, in NC.

  • ScentitarFragrance says:

I always love that sebastion describes the genre or category of the fragrance and then shares how the main accord smells and any unique aspects of the fragrance. He always does a great job and Russkaya Kozha is the fragrance on my heart and mind. Hattiesburg, Mississippi

  • I love Berdoues Oud Al Sahraa because it’s sensual and unisex. However, Sebastian did a great job reviewing them and giving his thoughts exactly. One can easily make choices based on his reviews.
    I live in USA

  • Sebastian doing a great job introducing us to brands most people would honestly never be exposed to. I live in NY and it’s still a trek to find some of these niche brands. I was leaning towards the Sahara because of the oud but Sebastian sold me on the Russkaya Kozha. I’d love to win that.
    Coming in from NY

  • Sebastian’s reviews are always great as he evidently has a passion for fragrances and knows his stuff and is able to articulate it for our consumption. I’d like to win Oud Al Sahraa which he described as an easy to wear oud and because it also has myrrh. Thank you for the review and the giveaway. I’m in USA

  • Loved Sebastian’s review as always. He’s terrific. I’d love to win the Oud Al Sahraa. Love myrrh and this sounds awesome. I’m in the USA.

  • I saw Sebastian’s first video about this house and I love that he is still excited abour this house in this current video. He explained all three fragrances wonderfully and I would choose the first one he talked about Oud All Sahraa even though he said its lean a little masculine but iys stil unisex, so I will trust Sebastian’s review. I am in US.

  • Hoja De Cuba sounds intriguing but I’m really interested in Oud Al Sahraa. I’ve been really fascinated by the idea of myrrh and the notes surrounding the myrrh in this one sound like they make for a fascinating combination. Plus, I really like the bottle!

  • IvanVelikov says:

Oud Al Sahraa is the one that speaks to me the most. I like resinous fragrances with some not overbearing sweetness.
$88 for 100ml niche fragrance ? Music to my ears.
    Thank you. US

  • I always appreciate the level of detail in Sebastian’s reviews! Love how he made the distinction between ashy tobacco and fresh tobacco. If I am the winner, my choice would be Hoya de Cuba because of the spicy/tobacco experience. I am from California, USA.

  • Oud al Sahraa sounds very intriguing, especially with the inclusion of the Mandarin. Would love to smell. This review does such a great job of introducing a brand I’ve never heard of. USA here.

  • Sensual elegant perfume? Oud Al Sahraa will suit me well. I’m digging the bottles too .
Appreciate the review, and the giveaway campaign.
    USA

  • My brother is a fan of leather fragrances, so I’ll give him the bottle if I’m the winner.
Props to Berdoues for selling quality fragrances at such a Reasonable price.
    Russkaya Kozha is my choice.
    Nice opportunity, thank you. USA

  • I’ve wanted to check this brand out, but haven’t so far. Sebastian’s review is super informative as always. Oud Al Sahraa sounds right up my alley, as a resinous myrrh type fragrance. I love a good oud fragrance done right. This one sounds simple, in a good way. I’m in the USA.

  • Ana-Maria Pascale says:

Since I subscribed to Sebasian’s channel, few month ago, I don’t miss any of his new uploads. I’ve binge watching. His perfume reviews are always detailed, compared to other you tubers. Sebastian always gives the notes list (top, middle, bottom) and his opinion regarding each note. I dislike when I hear a reviewer says “it smells good, woody, spicy … ” (very generalistic).
Recently, I discovered I like oud and I would love to be entered for a bottle of Berdoues Oud Al Sahraa. I live in the US.
    Thank you, Sebastian!

  • Shannon Ikerd says:

I love that Sebastian gives such nuanced descriptions of the fragrances in his reviews. I live in Kansas, and I’d love to try Oud al Sahraa, if selected.

  • I like Sebastian descriptions. I have never tred Berdoues perfumes, but all sound very beautiful- bu morre I am impressed by Russkaya Kozha, because I like leathery perfumes, and benzoin+leather combination is very interesting for me.
I would like to win Russkaya Kozha.
    USA

  • I love how deep and warm Russkaya Kozha sounds, plus the benzoin and cardamom are right up my alley with the leather. This would be my preferred bottle if I were to be picked! I’m from Pennsylvania!

  • I enjoyed Sebastian passion for reviewing, he know how to break the scent piece by piece. And in doing so he gives the viewer an accurate picture of the scent.
I would love to win Berdoues Hoja De Cuba

  • short but very nice 3 descriptions, I liked it.
But mostly i liked Oud al Sahraa- i like woody- spicy fragrances. And it is real rare, when perfume are beautiful and quality with very reasonable price.
My choice is Oud al Sahraa.
    USA

  • Perfumes Berdoues house is a great example of how you don’t nececerly have to pay over $150 for a nice smelling fragrance.
Next time in Sephora I’ll smell all.
I’d  like to win Oud Al Sahraa. In US

  • Great descriptions, my favorite and my pick would be Oud Al Sahraa because is easy to wear and has myrrh as well
Thanks, I live in the US.

The Hoja De Cuba sounds amazing! Nothing like a good fresh tobacco scent. I’ve gotten to sample this house. Would love to get a full bottle.

  • Russkaya Kozha is the one I’m more interested in. Leather based fragrance with cardamom and benzoin. I haven’t tried anything from this House. Thanks for the draw, Ca

  • Ruskaya Kozha is the most appealing of the three. And if Sebastian is impressed the fragrance should be really nice.
    Thank you .

  • While all 3 sound like scents I would enjoy, I happen to really love leather fragrances… so the Russkaya Kozha appeals to me the most. Thank you Sebastian for the video and for widening my scope a bit when it comes to niche fragrances. I had not come across this house before and am happy to be introduced!

  • Mikaeel Juma says:

Berdoues Russkaya Kozha seems like it would be my favorite, I really enjoy benzoin and cardamom in perfumery and never really smelled them in together in a fragrance before. I would love to try it
