Baruti is Greek for gunpowder, a word used to describe something with a bite or edge. Berlin IM Winter is like a perfume explosion on the skin, a charismatic rebel that is intoxicating and unpredictable, with its ability to evoke powerful emotions and reactions with and intensity that cannot be ignored. After reading an earlier post on ÇaFleureBon I was intrigued to learn more.

  • It seems a complex and fascinating fragrance. The way Sandi describes it – balsamic, aromatic, rich and transcending – sparked my interest, and the main notes are quite intriguing as well. I hope I’ll have the chance to wear it. Being an all-season perfume is a plus.
    Filippo from Italy.

  • Sandi describing Berlin im Winter as a deep, balsamic “all year round”-er sounded most promising. Mastic is to me quite a rare and nostalgic note, so it would be lovely to smell it here. With such elegant complementary heart notes like cassis, rose, iris and voluptuous amber, myrrh and leather further down, I am sure this fragrance is a recipe for success.

  • The note of Irish Coffe sounds so cozy and beautiful and I love coffee notes so this note really sparked my interest. Wearing this fragrance I’m sure I’d imagine myself in a cozy café sipping some Irish Coffee. I live in Trzebnica, Poland, EU.

  • I only know and enjoy Perverso from the house of Baruti. Such a polarizing scent, definitely a head-turner. I always wondered how the rest from the line are compared to Perverso, since that one is easily their most popular offering. I like the notes from Berlin im Winter and I think it would be a great experience, a mystical moment. Thank you!

  • I live in the US and would love to win Berlin IM Winter. What really intrigued me about this review is the plum and rose..and the balsamic notes. Yes please! On top of that, the bottle is really a work of art.

How can one not be intrigued by Sandi’s description of this fragrance unlocking wanderlust and that inner rebel?! Giving in to the little devil on your shoulder just once, let’s have an adventure! Plus the notes of rose, plum, iris, myrrh and frankincense just seem ripe for starting something memorable!

  • I have not tried anything from Baruti yet but they sound like an intriguing house. What caught my attention about Berlin IM Winter is the use of cassis, a note that I think is criminally underused. I imagine it pairs beautifully with the plum and iris. I’m also a fan of all things balsamic so this ticks that box for me. Will have to look into this house for sure. Best of luck to everyone. I live in NC, USA.

  • The cassis and the resins are what attract my attention. I don’t know what to expect at first sniff but I love that kind of notes.
Another Baruti fragrance I’m interested is NOOUD, hope I can smell it someday. Regards from Mexico.

  • Salutations
I don’t speak Greek, and I’m not a doctor like Dr. Spyros Drosopoulos , but I’m definitely into refined balsamic fragrances. It’s a good thing that Cafleurebon recommends not only bigger niche brands, but also smaller indie brands like Baruti , Berlin IM Winter feels classy, and also modern and a bit avanturistic
I find the fragrance tempting for the a) sensual components b) elegance c) original narrative d) rose , mastic and plum
I’d appreciate Berlin IM Winter very much
    It’s been a pleasure

  • Thank you for the review, Sandy. I got my nose on Winter in Berlin last fall on my travels and immediately loved this fragrance and all of its unfolding layers and it’s played on my skin. I found this to be very comforting and I just love the notes of rose and lavender, and that coffee note really brings me to something familiar and warm. I love it.

  • I have been reading/hearing good things about this house. I have not had a chance to sample as of yet. Cassis is an interesting note with my skin chemistry and does not always work, or rather changes depending on the season, and weather. Thank you for the draw! US, NY.

  • I’m so curious about this fragrance! The combo of rose, iris, and plum sounds divine, and I’m so curious about how they combine with the mastic and coffee notes. I’ve definitely never seen this combo before! I would love to give it a try. I’m in MN, USA.

    Thank you all!

  • This sounds like such a nuanced, complicated, complex, breathtaking fragrance. I love Baruti as a house!

  • Berlin IM Winter features an interesting blend of notes. The mastic and cassis opening is distinct from other perfumes with a floral-incense heart, and that Irish Coffee note is straight-up unexpected. I’m intrigued by the way this fragrance progresses, since the notes listed suggest some very different styles as they combine and dry down. Would love to try it.

    I’m in the USA.

  • Plum and Iris? You got me. I am sold lol. I also like the scientific approach that’s being taken to create the fragrance. I always like to hear when people of perfumers bring other knowledge from a different occupation over to perfumery

  • Like Sandi, I have always been fascinated by Dr. Spyros Drosopoulos as well. I enjoy the fragrances I have tried from Baruti, but I’ve yet to try Berlin IM Winter. I enjoy all of the included notes, and I am glad to hear from Sandi that the mastic and cassis persist into the dry down. I am even more intrigued by Sandi’s comment about the fragrance creating “mystical moments”.

Thank you, Sandi, for the great review, and thank you to Spryos Drosopoulos for the giveaway. I am located in the USA.

I liked the idea of having something so versatile and that provides an experience that lingers. Sounds wonderful and cozy and I would love to try it!

  • No surprise complexity and diversity are chosen by Dr. Spyros Drosopoulos to be te focus of Baruti IM Winter . The fragrance is gentle, rich and daring at the same time , with the good amount of resins , iris , and fruits.
I can see why the fragrance journalist believes that IM Winter transcends the ordinary , and pointing out its level of complexity. The mystical aspects are makes the whole story complete.

  • Hey , I know it’s a different Cafleurebon contributor but like a lot of other brands , Neela Vermeire Creations for example, I also discovered Baruti while watching Redolessence videos. He spoke of Chai a couple of times, I was impressed by the sample and bought a full bottle.
Thanks to Sandi Lundberg review i started thinking all kinds of beautiful and mysterious moments , plus I wonder how mastic, rose and cassis would work together in IM Winter , ambiguous experience if I have to guess.

Otherwise Baruti IM Winter is a captivating fragrance , warm fruity experience with some aromatic atmosphere .
The thickness , natural ingredients , the daring perfumer too , i find to be the most appealing features. Not to mention the enchanting properties

Thanks for the lovely review Sandi.
This fragrances sounds very inviting, especially in the colder weather that we have at the moment. The opening of mastic and cassis, the addition of lavender and rose and the interesting use of frankinscense, irish coffee and a little bit of the Baruti perfume NOOUD, which is really cool because that fragrance can be used for layering.

I would love to give this a try.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • I looked at Baruti website, and it’s stated that all fragrances and blended in house, by hand by Spyros Drosopoulos ! Great news .Even though like most aspects of life, perfume production and technologies are evolving rapidly, there are even some almost 22nd century futuristic approaches , still I’m glad smaller brands like Baruti are still implementing more classical , and artisanal approaches.
Berlin IM Winter i find attractive because of the plums I love eating , the rose, cassis and mystical atmosphere that Sandi Lundberg also said transported her to a world of wonder.
Thanks a million , from UK

  • What are the differences between IM Winter bottles ot the 1st , and on the 5th picture? Both are courtesy of the brand , are they different concentration, different sizes maybe?
Sandi Lundberg is keen on Baruti IM Winter not sorely because of the smell, but because of the packaging, individuality and adventurous characteristics. Fruity-floral and ambery essence, skilfully crafted ingredients and as a whole inner rebel blend I’m drawn to.
The booming fireplace vibe and better performance because of its extrait concentration are also big parts of the overall image Sandi Lundberg painted so well.
    Cheers from UK

  • Big time YES to uniqueness , upscale indie perfumery, daring approaches and aesthetics .
I especially like how Sandi Lundberg spoke of Baruti Berlin IM Winter balsamic rich velvety depth, and rose iris and plum immersive experience. Everything in the fragrance i find rich and inviting.

  • Howgy everyone
Mastic and cassis in not something you can find easily, even if you look for such aromas. Considering the levels of sophistication, obscure character i tend to believe , with Sandi Lundberg help that Berlin IM Winter no doubt transcends the ordinary perfumery and experiences. Dr Spyros Drosopoulos was able to put balsamic, aromatic, fruity and floral traits in one unique basket , i’m interested
    Thanks, UK

  • Here Baruti fragrances are available at Essenza Nobile, one of premier German niche boutiques / distributors , and Berlin IM Winter is a gem no questions asked. It’s a daring fragrance and not so easy to wear, but I like it a lot, second best Baruti after Perverso .
“Charismatic rebel that is intoxicating and unpredictable”
Sandi Lundberg literally took the words out of my mouth, the fragrance is quite complex, intoxicating and more than unpredictable , sampling first is a must. There are a lot of factors that can make a difference, and influence the wearer opinion. I semi-agree with Sandi Lundberg about the opening, about the mastic and cassis, I can also smell nice amount of lavender too. In the base is where our opinions with Sandi Lundberg differ, to me Berlin IM Winter turns sweeter , more fruity ambery , very thick and quite boozy – the reason there’s a glass of whiskey behind the old presentation on the very first picture in the article. Whiskey, coffee and suede leather are easily detectable on my skin, on the other hand and quite surprisingly not even available on Sandi’s skin .
I like how me and Sandi Lundberg love Berlin IM Winter, but not quite for the same reasons wow.
    Perverso I own
    Thanks to all involved
