An Introvert’s Guide To Surviving New Year’s Eve + a 2022 draw

Best Perfumes to wear for New year's 2022

This year has been various shades of bad, for all of us: the on and off lockdowns, the chaos and uncertainty, the changes – outside and inside, the time-compressed and dragged between four walls – well, in these conditions, even an introvert needs to appeal to some magical thinking and wish for some kind of rite of passage into a better new year.  So, I’ve been starting to make plans for this New Year’s party in October, and I went through all the possible scenarios. Tonight, I’m sharing five of these scenarios with you, paired up with an outfit idea and the best fragrant choice:

Ormonde Jayne woman

Ormonde Jayne Ormonde Woman (Geza Schoen and Linda Pilkington) 2002

Setting: home, cozy in a blanket, watching Netflix, comfortable and unbothered

Dresscode:  New year’s Eve  Dress Code Pjs & a fluffy robe

When I don’t know what to wear, when I need something that would bloom beautifully on my skin in any temperature, in any season, that would fit any occasion and any mood, and that I would trust even if I feel sick, Ormonde Woman comes to the rescue: a self-assured, pick-me-up, give-me-wings or give-me-claws potion that infuses a dose of magic into any scenario, no matter how mundane. There’s more than meets the eyes in this mixture of warm spices and deep green mossy woods, and I hold it as one of the best perfumes of the last two decades. (PS: my jaw just dropped when I realized that 2002 was twenty years ago)

Notes: Cardamom, coriander, grass oil, black hemlock, violet, jasmine, vetiver, cedar, amber, sandalwood.

Atelier des Ors Feline

Atelier des Ors Lune Feline (Marie Salamagne) 2015

Setting: a secluded wooden cabin in the woods, preferably unhaunted

Dresscode:  Mountaineering boots & winter thermal jacket

Almost two years since I quit smoking, but oh boy, do I miss it sometimes! Not the lung damage, coughing and smelling like an ashtray part, but the second of pure bliss that went through your my body, when the lighter clicked and I inhaled the first drag of a certain scenario* (cue song Saint Motel – My type for the lyric that says “I’m a man who’s got very specific taste “). If you have ever been a heavy smoker you know the subtitle differences between the morning coffee cigarette, the one hurriedly and nervously smoked outside the office building or the restaurant, and the *specific scenario ones. For many years, I could not conceive a new year party that was not spent in the mountains, the more off the grid the lodge, the better. The smell of woods, the smoke of the bonfire, and the crackle of the dried-out Rothmans held between my frozen fingers, lighting up, are the combined sensations that spell my version of a very specific paradise. Lune Feline smells nothing like tobacco, but somehow, it lights up the same pleasure nerves as this long-abandoned, never forgotten evil vice. It’s smoky, resinous, woody, dark, intensely sensual, and deeply satisfying. Guilt-free.

Official notes: cardamom, cinnamon, pink pepperambergris, woodsy notes, styrax, cedar, green notes, Tahitian vanilla, Peru balsam, musk

Francesca Bianchi sticky Fingers and Hedonik new review

Francesca Bianchi Sticky Fingers

Setting: your favorite pub, fun drunken party with your best friends

Dresscode: fishnets, a leather harness & Dr. Martens

It’s not often that I buy a perfume immediately after sampling it, but it was the case with Francesca’s Sticky Fingers, as I needed to connect to its raw energy as soon as I sniffed it. A perfume that I will forever associate with the autumn of 2020 and the beginning of the groundhog day cycle of lockdowns. For all of us who hoped the apocalypse would be more Mad Max in leather, riding cars in the desert, and less connecting on Zoom calls while you wear your PJ bottoms, Sticky Fingers was the middle finger manifesto to the glitched reality and a fabulous escape to a parallel universe where everything feels badass and cool. If for New Year’s party you just want to be with your mates, drink in pubs and be a deliciously irresponsible and naughty grownup, this is your safest choice 😀 (kudos to me for finding the only scenario where I can say Francesca Bianchi and safe in the same sentence).

Notes: Coriander, cinnamon, iris butter, patchoulisandalwood, heliotrope, musk, castoreum, leathertobaccotonka bean.

Der Duft Bubble is a great perfume for the New year

Der Duft Bubble and Unsplash images, collage by Nicoleta

Der Duft Bubble (Alexandre Illan) 2020

Setting: an office party or dinner at your significant other’s parents (or any scenario somewhere where you will have your drinks counted)

Dresscode: uncomfortable but swanky attire

Imagine the unfortunate scenario where you will have to attend a positively stiff and proper party, where you will have to be on your best behavior, not laugh too loud, dance too wild, or have too much fun? Then you have no other option than to pour that extra glass on your skin, before leaving for the party.  Bubble is exactly what the name says: an effervescent, exuberantly fizzy reincarnation of a freshly filled champagne glass. Uninhibited, full of joy and sparkle, these champagne-colored glasses could make even the dreariest party feel like a festive bonanza.

Notes: Champagne, Cassis Nectar, RoseChamomile, White MuskSandalwoodAmbrette

 Xerjoff Pikovaya Dama

Xerjoff Pikovaya Dama and Unsplash images, collage by Nicoleta

Xerjoff Pikovaya Dama (Chris Maurice) 2014

Setting: in the limousine, on your way to the ambassador’s mansion for the poshest masked ball one can imagine

Wearing: Alexander McQueen lace gown & a feather mask

For Pikovaya I have no words, only various intensity of sighs and exclamations.  As the perception of beauty is so deeply subjective and as we are a product of our memories and experiences, I’m not surprised that I find such a degree of joy in soapy scents – and as I have previously disclosed, with details, in my fragrant awakening. Pikovaya smells like the elevated smell of the best royal ivory soap, turned into frost shards by the hands of the Ice Queen. A cold, aristocratic, knee-weakening opulent perfume that summons an aura of timeless elegance with a vintage flair.

Notes: Aldehydes, Neroli, Bergamot, Rose and Lemon; middle notes are iris, Incense, Cedar, Nutmeg and Coriander; base notes are Musk, Vanilla, Sandalwood and Patchouli

  • Hah, Bubble, what a greatly themed new years fragrance! I’ve sampled a few Der Duft, but not this one. I am an introvert and I have a young one in my household, and COVID is surging where I live… so I will happily be spending New Years at home with my family 🙂 My scent for New Years is Musc Ravageur! Thank you for the draw and greatly themed article! With love, from Canada!

  • Happy New Year everyone! May 2022 be full of kindness, health, warmth, peace, tranquility and happy moments!

I love Nicoletta’s charming guide, the first scenario with Ormonde Jayne would be more suitable for me, because I am spending holidays at home with my family. But I would like to experience Xerjoff Pikovaya Dama scenario, of course, it sounds luxurious. I once tried Pikovaya Dama, and I confirm, that it really makes the same impression!

    UK

  • Excellent essay, Nicoleta! I, too, have a Ormonde Jayne fragrance on my list of possible scenarios for tonight, mine is T’aif. I have 4 OJ’s but T’aif is my all time favourite.
I have another thing in common with Nicoleta, I quit smoking 2 years ago and boy I miss it sometimes .
I wish you and the whole team a much better year, healthier, kinder, more travel and … more interesting perfumes!!!

  • I’m an extreme introvert and approve of this article 🙂 I’m currently gearing up for a gathering at my in-laws in a few hours. My fragrance for the evening is Milk from Commodity. It’s cozy and comforting, which is exactly what I need. Out of those listed in the article, Lune Feline is the favorite although I have yet to try Bubble. Reading the description, it would have been perfect for tonight. ~ Indiana

  • I enjoy a lot this reading, specially the Xerjoff scenario, I haven’t even smelled Pikovaya Dama but it made me dream like if I’m Gatsby wearing this luxurious fragrance, lol.
Thank you very much for the opportunity to participate for the bottle of Der Duft Bubble.
    Happy new year!
    Regards from Mexico.

  • Great pairings! Woman is the only one have tried. I may have to dig out my decant as that is exactly how I am spending the evening. A bottle of Bubble sounds great though. Currently wearing Papillion Tobacco Rose and living in the US.

  • Thanks for the survival guide! haha!

Great selection for each occasion! I’m sure we all have pondered long about what we’re wearing tonight. I’m sure this will help a few undecided readers!

I would fall into the PJs and Bathrobe section, but unfortunately I do not have the Ormond James to finish the look! Instead, I will be wearing Flaviol Seferi’s Insomnia which my girlfriends find a delicious comforting smell.

This New Year’s Eve, my partner and I will be enjoying a glass of Champagne in the living room while watching the London fireworks and a movie afterwards.

Greetings from the UK and a Happy New Year!

  • I enjoyed the pairings and how the scenarios went from most to least introverted! I will be sipping a glass of sparkling at home tonight on NYE so Bubble would be perfect. Happy New Year from MA, USA!

  • I loved reading this list, cause I am an introvert myself. I will use Pikovaya Dama based on this recommendation, and also because it is my best fragrance. I will be enjoying time with my future wife and her family. I live in the U.S.

  • Throwing a party with my kids, playing children games, drinking alcohool free champagne and trolling on perfume forums.
Id like to have the Pikovaya Dama, my lady deserves the best, she’ll have it.
    Cheers from Romania!

  • I have never tried any fragrances from Der Duft — perhaps because I have always assumed them to be abstract and humorless — “Bubble” sounds like the opposite of humorless so I hereby resolve to stop making premature and hasty judgments in 2022!
Also, thanks for that wonderful description of Lune Feline!! I love that scent and am happy to see it getting some love… (maybe it’s because I too am an ex-smoker?)
    Happy New Year! !
    From the USA

  • Nicoleta! ❤️❤️❤️ Happy New Year from a fellow introvert! INTJ, according to the tests. Thank you for a wonderful review – what a fantastic idea! I Adore Bubble by Der Duft! To me it smells of a luxurious glass of Kir Royale! A cocktail that was invented by members of the French Resistance and a wonderful salute against fascism at any time. I can’t wait to experience Francesca Bianchi’s Sticky Fingers! I loved wearing her Divine Perversion (Hedonik) in October, as the candied leather was lovely in the fall air and reminded me of Halloween night! Xerjoff’s Pikovaya Dama sounds intriguing! I have a bottle of Fatal Charme that I like to wear when feeling aloof and old world (but not vintage) vibe. Isn’t Ormande Woman great?! I keep meaning to sample more, but each time I just want to reach for this bottle! Thank you so much for this fantastic list and opportunity! I would so LOVE a bottle of Bubble! What a perfect New Year’s gift! USA
    ❤️

  • Rachel Part 2
ps – I forgot to mention what we will be doing for New Year’s Eve! We will be staying home and celebrating with our 3 year old! Wishing everyone a safe and happy New Year!
    ❤️

  • As an introvert i am spending NYE at home, alone, with a pizza and netflix. (its also maybe something to do with Covid as well). 🙁
Bubble sounds like an antidote to how i feel, and it would be nice to start off 2022 with a scent to gee me up, kick my bottom, and re-start my social clock – it makes sense to me.
thanks, I’m in the UK and Happy New year to everyone involved with CaFleureBon; you have made so many folks so happy with your perfume draws. 🙂

  • Last few articles on Cafleurebon have been review and reference articles, to be chewed on and digested slowly. Will be having a quiet, calm evening on New Year’s eve. Oud scent for the evening, not sure which. Bubble seems interesting with its champagne and chamomile notes. Happy New Year!! From USA.

  • Love the pairings and fun scenarios. (Anywhere your drinks will be counted…haha!). I haven’t tried Bubble but, others from the Der Duft line have been very unique. I have no plans for NYE but the family is planning a day trip to NYC tomorrow. I usually wear Amouage Gold Parfum on New Years but I think I will save it for NYC. Thanks for the fun post! Happy New Year!

  • The amazing details spark my interest. I will be spending time with my family on New Year’s Eve. I live in Poland, EU.

  • Nicoleta, you made me smile in each of these situations, especially, at the office party or dinner with significant other’s parents with the uncomfortable but swanky attire. Ughh…I’m squirming at the thought. But then I am able to imagine pouring Bubble on my skin and having that effervescent charge bring my body and senses to life (kind of reminds me of the York Peppermint Patty commercial) 🙂 USA

  • ThePinkPigeon says:

Sticky Fingers is so polarizing, but the accords seem divine. Will go see a small group of friends for NYE. I’m in the U.S.

  • Sorohan Adriana says:

Bubble for a new year very suitable for the passing of the years with champagne bubbles. Have a Happy New Year. Happy Birthday! I am from EU Bucharest Romania Europe

  • A beautiful piece by Nicoleta my favourite scenario would probably be wearing Ormonde Woman. I am staying at home watching TV. If I am lucky to win I would love to win Der duft Bubble because I have not tried anything by this house. Thanks a million from the United Kingdom

  • I forgot to mention I will be wearing Serge lutens Chergui. Thanks a million from the United Kingdom

  • Notes: Champagne, Cassis Nectar, Rose, Chamomile, White Musk, Sandalwood. I am really fascinated by the notes in Der duft especially Sandalwood, Rose and Champagne. A wonderful piece by Nicoleta describing various scenarios. My favourite scenario would be with Ormonde Woman. I will be wearing Xerjoff Nio and staying with family. Thanks a lot from the UK

  • Oh, i like the idea of pouring an extra glass on your skin, the fizzy and naughty behaviour of Der Duft Bubble, the party starter, as always Nicoleta transports the reader and decripts the mood , thanks for it, from Romania with love!

  • It’s a shame I haven’t yet had a chance to get introduced to Ormonde Woman but Nicoleta has definitely triggered my curiosity! Sticky Fingers, Picovaya Dama and Lune Feline together with the suggested scenarios could be quite plausible choices for me, and Bubble is yet to try 🙂
We had a house party with some of our best friends and my choice for the evening was Ex Nihilo Atlas Fever.
    Happy New Year to everyone!
    Lina, Lithuania, EU

  • Jarrid Steele says:

Please enter me into the giveaway. The best line in the whole article is “then you have no other option than to pour that extra glass on your skin, before leaving for the party.” I love that. On New Year’s Eve I was at a small get together and I was drinking a sweet liquor and felt like doing the same. I told my friends I would wear it as a perfume because it smells so good. I’m in beautiful Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Happy New Year, everyone! Covid has my province on the brink and we’re under curfew yet again. I could use some good news, so please pick me!

  • I absolutely loved the fragrances mentioned. Ormonde Woman is one of my favs. I sent well wishes to all of my family and friends on New Years Eve. Thanks for the wonderful opportunity to try Bubble. Mich USA

  • Very nice article. If I had to choose from the above, it would certainly be the setting paired with Lune Feline, a retreat in the woods with crisp mountain air sounds invigorating.

I’ve never been a smoker, but have been quite tempted. Perhaps I should sample Lune Feline as a healthier alternative.

  • New Year’s Eve was last night, I put it out of my mind and went to sleep. I did enjoy reading the quitting smoking paragraph. Reading about Bubble I’m sure I’d thoroughly love it’s effervescent quality. US

  • Bryant Worley says:

This was a very good guide for introverts, because there was no setting too ostentatious, or unnerving to a person who would be put off by such things. Just low-key fun.

I was working on New Year’s Eve, and I live in Waldorf, Maryland, USA.

  • Thank you, Nicoleta, for reminding that there are alternatives to the lonely New Year’s eves of the last couple of years…mine this year will be a bit more social than last but still ‘socially distanced’; a few carefully ‘vetted’ guests and family members. I will be wearing my beloved Rive Gauche…a treasured glass splash bottle from many years past. I love how Nicoleta selects just the right scent for each scenario. Bubble sounds very celebratory and so apropos for New Years! I am in the US. Happy New Years to us all!

  • I heard so much about sticky fingers, that I was not surprised to find it in recommendations for New Year’s Eve – probably it would fit any party… at least the name would.
… except my New Year’s Eve party, which was at home, with wider family and a very independent 3-year old who keeps on saying ‘me, me! let ME do that!’.
    I live in Romania, UE.

  • As a cardamom and cat fan, I’m immediately drawn to Atelier des Ors Lune Feline. I’ve also been meaning to sample Sticky Fingers for a while, which I was also drawn to by the name, after my phase of e-hoarding 1970’s Rolling Stones photos in my early 20’s. The dichotomy of joy at a stuffy party used to describe Bubble sounds so interesting.

  • As I was reading Nicoleta’s scenarios, giggling at her witty portrayals of New Year’s parties, I was trying to guess which one she played in [as I know that for me, it would be Xerjoff, but in the bed and Netflix scenario :))], and I’d pick Ormonde Jayne and a black, fluffy cat. So, amirite or amirite? 🙂
Happier new year and hugs from EU.

  • Happy New Year from Romania ! I spent it with SO and Netflix. wore sequins and fishnets 🙂 i like the possibilitiy to mix the scenarios.
I like the name and the notes of Bubble.

  • New Years’s Eve celebrations haven’t been the same since Covid. Unfortunately, I have little desire to mingle in large crowds, so there is an element of forced introversion. Bubble sounds lovely and fun. The champagne accord sells it along with some beautiful florals and sandalwood base. It seems like an optimistic fragrance and perfect for welcoming the new year. I’m in MD, USA.

  • What an excellent idea for an article! Thoroughly enjoyed reading it and I think I might borrow some ideas for next year.
Bubble was a very unexpected choice for a “family dinner”. I was expecting something more formal, aldehydes, a rose or a very clean and safe musk or powder. But Bubble is so much fun! Definitely replaces the booze in the drink with that on the skin.
My New year’s eve was unfortunately a covid recovery at home…but luckily cozy and without any issues. I wore Bvlgari’s Aqva divina, it’s a freshie so I can tolerate it.
I am in the EU. Happy new year everyone!

  • I actually attended the play Hamilton for New Year’s Eve this year, though I typically stay home on that night. My fragrance was Amouage Beach Hut Man. I have not sampled anything from the Der Duft line as of yet. Thanks for the draw. I’m in the US.

  • wallygator88 says:

Thanks for the fantastic and interesting list.

Lot’s of common notes of cardamom, tonka and warm sweet musky bases.

I do appreciate the combinations that you’ve provided with each of these fragrance reviews. Of particular fascination was the Atelier des Ors Lune Felines.

I will be out on a farm far away from civilization on NYE.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • I find all this choices and descriptions are very beautiful!
Although I am feel some inconvenience wearing Pikovaya Dama, but appreciate its beauty= really well said -” frost shards by the hands of the Ice Queen”.
    Love tender Lune Feline !!
Very intrigued by Bubble and Sticky Fingers.
    USA

  • Claumarchini says:

I am not an introvert but I have never particularly enjoyed New Year’s Eve parties… I like to spend it in the mountains – great choice Nicoleta – or traveling somewhere so you don’t have to think about what to wear, what to do, whom to invite in case you host a party at home! Since the period is again not so great because of Omicron, my husband, his parents, my mum and myself are spending these days in Ferrara, a wonderful medieval city. The weather is foggy and veeeeeery cold, Bubble would definitely cheer me up! Greetings from Italy

  • What a great and fun article. I love this type of essays. I love Nicoleta’s scenarios because there is something for everyone, for a stay-at-home lovers and for big party animals. And that goes for a selection of perfumes as well 🙂
I spent my New Years Eve with my closest friend at small gathering in my house. In time of lockdown I appreciate time spend with them even more. We made home-made sushi, drink some wine, talked and played jenga. Happy New year for Çafleurebon team from Poland, EU.

  • For every gourmand and vanilla lover – try Lune Feline . One of the best vanilla fragrance ever created. And I know vanilla well being traditionally trained in Paris Pastry Chef.
Remindes me of Cinnamon and cardamom rolls, every Pastry Chef learns as a beginner. I sell a lot at the bakery. The fragrance is also smoky, it’s interesting why it’s not part of the “official” notes ?!? There’s no question about it, smoke is present in Lune Feline.
Angel’s Dust I know very well, because good friend of mine is wearing it all the time. 33 yo female, not that it matters at all. It’s powdery and powerful, with mint candy floss sweetness, and creamy sandalwood . Angel’s Dust i like a lot, both how it smells, and how strong it is. My friend said she only spray twice, and I can smell her from a few feet away .
If Sticky Fingers is just as potent as Angel’s Dust, I’d like to wear it on deliciously irresponsible event haha
For New Years dinner I made Creme de Cassis Cake , and we had champagne, that’s exactly how I imagine Der Duft Bubble
Appreciate the introvert reviews, and the giveaway campaign
    USA

  • Dang, that description of the Lune Feline vibe is sensational! I didn’t have much luck with Atelier des Ors before, but that one seems like my type (*wink).

Another one I hope to try one of these days is Bubble: I love champagne and drink it as often as I can: it feels like a bottled holiday, and I wonder what Alexandre Illan has achieved.

Lastly, Pikovaya Dama named after a famous Pushkin story, or Tchaikovsky’s opera, or perhaps after just as famous lore character that travels through mirrors and is very dangerous, – I’d never thought she’d wear aldehydes, but then again, they can be pretty menacing if used properly.

I spent the New Year’s Eve at home with my family, nothing fancy except for the bubbly.
    Russia

  • Really enjoyed Nicoleta’s article and how she sparked my imagination with each of the fragrances for each scenario. Like many, my scenario was at home with family, pjs, cozy blanket, and a glass of champagne. Would love to try Bubble. Wishing everyone a Happy New Year! USA

  • This was an interesting concept- pairing fragrances with setting and painting a nice picture especially if one has never sampled the fragrance before. It helped you determine how to categorize the fragrance.
My wife and I were home this past new year eve.

  • msnitechemist says:

Nicoleta, I enjoyed this piece immensely! I read it a few times b/c as an introvert, I related so much to the different situations, even though this New Year’s, I didn’t go anywhere or to any parties b/c of the pandemic. I would have loved to have been in England, among friends, for the big night, but alas, I live here in the US and have been forcibly stuck here during this difficult time. I love the fact that all of the scents you chose were gourmand to some degree.

I love the smell of cilantro/coriander so I am intrigued to eventually smell this note in a perfume. I have several champagne-scented lotions so having Bubble by Der Duft in my collection would be perfect. Thank you for the draw!

  • I spent my New Years eve at the seaside, smelling pines, seawater, wet earth and fog. Wonderful choices and scenarios though. And a glass of bubbly Bubble on my skin sound so appealing.

  • Sadly, I’m not an introvert at all, but this article was amazingly and very, very funnily written! I’ve enjoyed reading through it all – even a second time! And I’ve especially loved reading the description for Der Duft The Bubble! 😀 As for my NYE, I wore Invasion Barbare, just so everyone knows I’m in the room!

    I live in Croatia, EU

  • Andreea Elena Timofte says:

How to pick from all this fantastic fragrances? Very good choices… I would love to try Bubble with all my heart. But Ormonde Jayne : “self-assured, pick-me-up, give-me-wings or give-me-claws potion that infuses a dose of magic into any scenario” it’s what I need… I will be with my family for New Year’s Eve, nothing fancy. I live in London, UK.

  • As an introvert myself, I totally appreciate Nicoleta’s article. What I ended up doing for NYE was staying home, snuggled up in cozy pjs and a weighted blanket, watching movies with my partner. It was pretty good. 2022 has to be a better year, right?
Der Duft Bubble sounds like exactly the effervescence needed in our lives at this time. I am in the US

  • I love Nicoleta’s creative vision. The different scenarios are fun to read and also to dream about. I’m an introvert but everyone says I’m not. I guess maybe because I force myself to be uncomfortable for my own growth and hopefully to be a blessing to those around me. Anyway, Der Duft’s Bubble is probably what I’d need to get through a stiff office party as described above so I’d love to win it to have on hand for such “emergencies.” 🙂

This year, I was home for New Year’s Eve on the sofa with my husband. By 9PM sharp, my pajamas and fuzzy slippers were donned. An introvert’s perfect evening.

Thanks for the giveaway. In the USA.

  • IvanVelikov says:

To me Atelier Des Ors equals class , beauty and creativity , but most importantly equals Lune Feline . Gourmand notes are present, but still restrained, spices , tea , nice vanilla , I love it.
I don’t smoke, also being a tailor I always try to look sharp, and Lune Feline to me fits different, more upscale scenarios.
I own Etruscan Water, Sticky Fingers is nighttime playful.
I often attend “proper parties” , I’ll try to pour myself with some champagne next time to know the feeling 🙂
Pikovaya Dama Xerjoff I never tried, but I’d like to
On New Years Eve I was at home, with friends and family
Thank you Nicoleta and Der Duft

I have a similar experience with Francesca Bianchi’s creations and I purchased two bottles during the beginning of lock down and associate them with that time. I also just purchased a bottle of Sticky Fingers after completing my two samples I was hording this week! I have been dying to get my hands on a Der Duft sample pack as their fragrances all sound so unique and fun takes on their inspirations! Thanks for the draw, from the US.

  • wandering_nose says:

What a great run through very different scenarios from Nicoleta! It goes to show she must have spent some time thinking of and trying to plan the new year’s party indeed. And I have a feeling those ideas could serve not only introverts :). I especially loved the scenario incorporating Lune Feline as it feels to be the closest to Nicoleta’s heart. I am hoping to be able to try Lune Feline one day as I know beyond any doubt that I am going to love it from the very first sniff. My second fave scenario conceived by Nicoleta would be the drunken fun with one’s friends in a pub, surrounded by a cloud of Sticky Fingers making the wearer feel younger and wilder at heart. My New Year’s eve was a modest one at my family home, with my parents for the first time in some two decades. I loved it. Nicoleta’s description of Bubble fits right in with my mood from that moment: uninhibited, full of joy and sparkle. It would be delightful to be lucky to win. Thank you from Ireland, EU

  • Anything that is supposed to smell like champagne or emulate the feeling of drinking champagne sounds great to me! I was a fan of Der Duft’s Grasse scent. I spent New Years at home babysitting two little ones (grands) while their parents were out partying. I was wearing Guerlain. Thanks for the ideas and draw! I’m in USa

  • What a fun article! There are more scenarios that are appealing to me and I actually have experienced most of them in recent years. However, this New Year’s Eve was spent at home with a husband and a couple of friends.
I really enjoyed Nicoleta’s reminiscence of smoking habit and subtle differences in experiences. As a heavy smoker, who quit the habit more than 11 years ago, I still remember very vividly how I felt at enjoying a specific cigarette. Luna Feline has been on my “sample list” after reading an article on CaFlerurBon and I am sure it will cross my olfactive path in 2022.
Reading about Bubble I’m sure I’d thoroughly enjoy its fizziness.
Thank you for the draw and great article.

    Greetings from Slovenia.

  • Michael Prince says:

What interests me based on Nicoleta’s article An introverts guide to surviving New Year’s Eve is her selections of warm, cozy, boozy, and gourmand fragrances. I haven’t tried any of these fragrances, but I’ve heard great things about Sticky Fingers and Lune Feline. I don’t have any plans for New Year’s Eve. I work until 10:15 PM then I will just spend time with my wife and kids. I am from the USA.

  • I would like to try all of the fragrances which are mentioned in Nicoleta’s article. It was interesting to see what Nicoleta thought concerning when it could be appropriate for these fragrances to be worn. I’d love to win the Der Duft fragrance- I can enjoy the use of grapes in fragrances, so I might like that fragrance. For New Year’s Eve, I went shopping, and spent the evening at home using the Internet. I live in the U.S.A. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.

  • I’m big time extrovert, and reading about the other side of the coin was quite interesting.
To me regular Lune Feline is gourmand for fragrance connoisseurs. It’s not a mass market gooey modern gourmand , but smoky , spicy and sophisticated instead.
I said “regular” , because there’s Extrait version, that at one point was limited to Jovoy i believe, but I think now it’s available for all Atelier des Ors fans.
The one thing I don’t quite get is … if looking for tobacco, and smoke why not go with Bois Sikar?
“Sticky Fingers was the middle finger manifesto to the glitched reality and a fabulous escape to a parallel universe where everything feels badass and cool”
    Well said
Pikovaya Dama indeed smells like very expensive soap, and if that’s your thing, you’re going to love it.
I’m also a strict teetotaller , and pouring champagne on my clothes is experience i never had , but boozy fragrances I love , Der Duft Bubble sounds nice.
On New Years Eve i was with my girlfriend , and friends at home
    Thanks a lot

  • I’m amazed by Lune Feline. I’m saying that because I own a sample of it. Dark smoky vanilla with resins is my impressions of it . Lasting power is exceptional, projection really good.
I read all reviews on Cafleurebon, and saw some YouTube videos, but I have no personal experience with Francesca Bianchi fragrances, not yet . I was a vagabond as a kid , and now I’m a naughty grownup , maybe Sticky Fingers is my kind of fragrance.
    positively stiff ?
Such events i don’t like attending, if I don’t have to.
Xerjoff Pikovaya Dama I don’t know.
I went to a live jazz club event on New Years Eve. Masque Milano Tango was my scent of the evening.
    Nice giveaway, USA

  • I’m not too much of an introvert so I can’t say from that perspective, but these scenarios do spark my interest. It’s pretty interesting to see scenarios that more or less lead one to imagining these smells. I’ve been to my friends house at the party at New Year’s Eve, wearing Amouage Beach Boy Man, can’t get enough of this one lately. I live in Poland.

  • I’ve sampled all Atelier des Ors fragrances, and
Iris Fauve, Rose Omeyyade , Lune Feline and Rouge Saray stood up to me the most.
Iris Fauve is what I decided to buy at the end. Lune Feline opening and dry down are very different. It starts with a blast of red pepper, almost makes me sneeze, but later becomes cozy sweet woody fragrance . I’d say it’s my third favorite Atelier des Ors , and to me it’s not very smoky. Nicoleta opinion is slightly different , but that’s normal.
Because of Danu’s (Unfortunately not ot part of Cafleurebon anymore , I wonder why?!? ) great review, mid.2019 , I have sampled, and bought “The Lovers Tale” , and now I’m intrigued again. I see the approach is different, but the slightly funky feeling is present not just in “The Lovers Tale” , but in “Sticky Fingers” too.
The days of smoking, being irresponsible adult , and spilling champagnes on parties are way behind me, but i do believe I’ll enjoy Der Duft Bubble
New Years Eve I’ve spent at home with my husband, daughter , uncle, cousin , my niece , and Imaginary Authors Cape Heartache 🙂
    Thanks for the draw

  • “PS: my jaw just dropped when I realized that 2002 was twenty years ago”

Why you had to say that, it feels like it was just a few years ago, or maybe I so wish it was…
Ormonde Jayne Woman is woody, green , and the violet is so strong.
I think Lune Feline is dark incense vanilla with cardamom and just a bit of woods. There’s something slightly carnal, and lustful in it , and if you’re not going to cuddle into the secluded cabin in the woods, I’d swap it with Bois Sikar.
I’m not familiar with Francesca Bianchi fragrances.
Bubble i like , I like champagne and going to parties…still.
Pikovaya Dama I’ve heard, but never smelled.
A lot of fun with my family, and close friends, drinking Sangria with peaches and cinnamon, and I kept my tradition alive , for 12 straight years now , on each New Years Eve to wear the same fragrance, Tom Ford Noir de Noir
Happy 2022 to all Cafleurebon contributors , and subscribers ❤ , and thank you for the opportunity

What a cute article! What sparks my interest about Nicoleta’s article An introverts guide to surviving New Year’s Eve is that it’s more than just an article about what fragrance to wear for specific occasions, but that they are also fragrances to wear when you WISH you were at that certain occasion, when reality might sadly preclude that. Particularly Sticky Fingers, which she described as the perfect fragrance for those who hoped for less zoom calls in PJ bottoms and who want to escape to an alternate reality of badass and cool, for those wanting to be “deliciously irresponsible” instead of sitting at home quietly. That is DEFINITELY me. I love the idea of spritzing on Sticky Fingers and getting that blast of raw energy in a “safe” way, living vicariously through that when circumstances and wisdom calls for otherwise.

For New Year’s Eve I simply spent a quiet night in with my parents and my younger brother. We had a delicious feast of epic proportions, a good bottle of wine, and we just hung out and watched Netflix, laughing and eating the night away. I was in bed by 12:10 am! I live in the US.
