Amouage Overture Man Review (Karine Vinchon Spehner) + A Night at the Opera Draw

Amouage Overture Man review

Amouage Overture Man via Instagram

Music has inspired many fragrances-think of the 1988 classic Yves Saint Laurent JAZZ for example (notes, chords some of the language as well as names of the scents are shared).  Few capture the depth and sensuality of a night at the opera the way  Overture Man does.

music and perfume similarities

Benedict Cumberbatch in a Toronto production of Phantom of the Opera

Imagine Benedict Cumberbatch in Phantom of the Opera- a gentleman AND a seducer, that’s who came to mind when I smelled a sample Amouage Overture Man. For me opera is an acquired taste, just like fragrances. Some fragrances take time for you to fall for. Very few beckon you at first sniff. Amouage Overture Man was love at first sniff. This woody spicy fragrance, has a musky animalic  accord.  Myrrh, geranium and mastic resin are the stars of Overture Man. One word-SEXY

Karine Vinchon Spehner perfumer

Karine Vinchon Spehner via Amouage

It takes a skilled perfumer to handle cumin in such a way that it isn’t sweaty or off-putting. Karine Vinchon Spehner who composed Amouage Fate Man (which has a strong cumin note) composed  Overture Man and created an animalic accord that isn’t overpowering, yet is present throughout the entire fragrance.

  • Woody spicy fragrances are some of my favorites. This one sounds beautiful and if it’s sexy to Sebastian then it’ll be sexy to me. Haha I would like to sample before I buy. USA

  • JR Justiniano says:

Wow! I love your review on this fragrance , it sound very exotic with all those different notes especially the leather! Hopefully I get to win the giveaway to try it out! I’m in the USA.

  • Wow, I would love to be entered into the giveaway. I was fortunate enough to sample this in Harrods and I loved it. Sweet and spicy and the animalistic vibe is really nice. The dry down was . Leather, sandalwood and saffron just a perfect mix of notes. I’m from London, UK

  • Always enjoy Sebastian’s reviews – he gives such great details and has turned me to some great frags this year. I’m fan Amouage – Beach Hut Man will always be a sentimental favorite – one of my very first niche purchases way back.
Wood, Spicy with a leathery vibe is enough for me to hear to give Overture Man a try.
    Thanks for the giveaway
    Pennsylvania USA

  • Still have a decent decant left of the stuff, so I’ll wait until I’m through it before picking up a full bottle. But yeah, it’s one of the few Amouages that really struck a chord with me from the beginning. Absolutely agree with Seb about the muskiness. Definitely gets leathery on me too. “Reeks sexy” about sums it up. Love that quote! Next level indeed! Canada.

  • I appreciated the way Sebastian made this fragrance sound sexy, even with its cumin note. He said a lot of words, but all he had to do for me was read the notes AND say the words, “Woody Spicy”. ‘Nuff said.

Amouage prices prohibit me from purchasing it but I will be getting a big sample.

I live in Waldorf, MD, USA.

  • Having never tried Amouage, Sebastian’s review sounds like something right up my alley and his enthusiasm isn’t helping. Fingers crossed or maybe not – it might open the gates to hell, haha.

  • This fragrance seems to have all my favorite notes in it so I’m definitely interested to try this one out. Sebastian got me interested in this one with that deer musk accord 🙂

  • Another great review by Sebastian!

Am really looking forward to trying this. I love Amouage, and just from the notes I am sure Overture will also be part of my collection in the near future.

  • What I enjoyed most about sebastian’s review was how he both gave us the notes and accords from the brand but also his own perceived sence of how the came together in regards to the anamalic touches.

I’m considering buying it as it has so many notes that I enjoy collected in once fragrance.

    I’m from Ireland, EU.

  • Gabriel Garcia Leyva says:

I’ve always enjoyed Sebastián reviews and this one is no different, as a fan of amouage, I find this overture, more like a retro Scala, powerhouse, with a good doses of high notes, in a melodious grand finale,
My favorite opera singer is Andrea Bocelli.
    Thanks
    Las Vegas NV

  • I always trust Sebastians opinion on the fragrances, and I can tell that we have very similar taste is perfume. Review was great, with deep breakdown of notes. Can’t wait to try the sample of Overture.

PS. Sarah Brightman for sure! 🙂

  • I liked the intro and that Sebastian explained why he was interested in Overture man, I also like short and concise reviews.
I always like to sample and try a fragrance before buying a bottle, but Amouage being my favorite house i’d reckon chances are pretty high

  • I thought Sebastian did a good job explaining what to expect from this fragrance, I will probably get a bottle if it has a strong enough cognac note which is one of my favorite notes

  • Love Sebastian’s reviews! Always really helpful that the individual notes are broken down, sometimes it can be a bit hard to identify all notes in such a complex blend (as Amouage usually is). Everything that I have sampled from Amouage has been fantastic, but the price point is a bit high so I haven’t been able to justify a full bottle purchase. Love animalistic, spicy, and leather notes though, so this seems to be right up my alley.

  • I loved Sebastian’s review. I like how addressed the potential fears, and eased my mind, concerning the cumin and the animalistic aspects. He is such a great reviewer. And if I like it after testing then Yes I will buy it.
    Southern California

Extra Credit…My favorite would be Suzanne Murphy who sang the soprano for Die Entführung aus dem Serail in the Amdeus

  • Another great review by Sebastian. Other than musky fragrances, I am usually not a huge fan of fragrances where animalic notes are carried throughout. But, the description of Overture Man absolutely makes me want to try this one. Watching from Pennsylvania, USA.

  • I love opera. It’s quite literally my favorite thing thing in the world. So I’m always curious to get my nose on things related to opera. And I will always put the time in to see what I think of it.

Sebastian’s reviews are always interesting to listen to and I love how he talks about them all, this one included.

Sexy opera singer? It’s hard for me to think of one that isn’t! But of course I think the award goes to Maria Callas for me. No matter how much opera I listen to, she’s a singer I always come back to.

  • For me opera is an acquired taste, just like fragrances. Some fragrances take time for you to fall for. Very few beckon you at first sniff. Amouage Overture Man was love at first sniff. This woody spicy fragrance, has a musky animalic accord. Myrrh, geranium and mastic resin are the stars of Overture Man. One word-SEXY. What an intriguing description. What I enjoyed about Sebastian’s review was the animalic note was tolerable but adds a sexiness to the fragrance. My favourite opera singer is Alice Coote. Thanks a million from the United Kingdom

  • Hello,

Message from Romania. Everything here, especially stuff of this quality is hard to find. I discovered this just searching through fragrantica for the best Amouage fragrances and this popped up. Although not all the notes are mentioned it seemed like a fragrance I would adore. I only have Amouage samples at this point in time and I consider them to be some of the best smelling ones in my current collection. I would really love for this to be my first fragrance from this house and i hope i’ll win this giveaway specifically for this reason as it would be a great addition to my currently low collection especially as it sounds so appealing.
PS: Seb is one of my favorite youtube fragrance reviewers!

    Kind regards,
    Preda Andrei Stefan

  • For me opera is an acquired taste, just like fragrances. Some fragrances take time for you to fall for. Very few beckon you at first sniff. Amouage Overture Man was love at first sniff. This woody spicy fragrance, has a musky animalic accord. Myrrh, geranium and mastic resin are the stars of Overture Man. One word-SEXY. Fascinated by this concoction especially the boozy and animalic notes. What I liked about Sebastian’s review is that it is not overly animalic just tolerable. I probably won’t buy a full bottle but curious nonetheless. My favourite opera singer the late Luciano Pavarotti. Thanks a lot from the UK

  • I’m always keen on the note details. You do a good job of breaking down the notes throughly! I’d love to put my nose on this.

Extra credit: Carla Maffioletti (look up “Song of Olympia” on youtube…. it’s very entertaining)

  • ThatMulattoDude says:

Appreciate Sebastian’s review and opportunity for the giveaway! This is a house I’ve wanted to sample for some time. Haven’t pulled the trigger as of yet. This fragrance seems a little out of my comfort zone with its animalic nature and cumin but I am highly intrigued and would like to try it. Best from Virginia, USA.

  • I forgot to mention I would buy this just for the cognac note alone. Thanks a million from the United Kingdom

  • First lets get the sexy singer Andrea Bocelli out of the way. I like Sebastians reviews because his expression of the fragrance makes me imagine and want to smell it.

  • SAHIL HINGORA says:

Really appreciate the way Mr.Sebastain explain and review the content of the juice differentiating each and every note. So I really consider his review valuable.

  • Brandon Johnson says:

Loved Sébastiens review. Dead on. I also love Amouage. Overture is a classy, wonderful , grown man fragrance. I can’t wait to buy a bottle of it when it is available to me. The perfumer is very talented. Overture and Memoir are both amazing. She really knows what she is doing. Kudos

  • I love a sexy animalic accord and it sounds like they have nailed it here in Overture! The bottle is also stunning so I’m very tempted to blind buy when available in Australia. Sounds like a big sexy fragrance, I can imagine it would have been great on my favorite operatic tenor Luciano Pavarotti.

  • Sebastian’s reviews are always wonderful. He gives the notes, he gives his impressions and then it all comes together. I would love to get this when it becomes available. I’m a true opera buff. It is one of my most favorite things. A truly sexy soprano is Anna Netrebko, a really sexy baritone was Dmitri Hvorostovsky, and as for a sexy tenor, I would pick Jonas Kaufman or Juan Diego Florez. These are all contemporary singers and not necessarily someone purely for their singing ability. Many thanks to Sebastian for his review and many thanks to Amouage for making this draw possible.

  • I enjoyed Sabastian’s unveiling of the notes of this release. Fragrantica had very little info regarding this fragrance and so it was nice to finally smell (see?) this in full HD at last. Plus, I generally buy what he tells me to

My favourite sexy opera singer is the very beautiful Catherine Jenkins.

  • The review get me think about the myrrh, i never smell it in perfume before and i like to try it so i can buy it wen it be available.

  • Toran Tarschie says:

Amouage as always amazing and so is also the reviews of Sebastian. I can’t wait to smell it, would love to add overture in my amouage collection. Thank for the great review Sebastian.

  • Esat Atıl MERTER says:

Sebastian has his own way of describing the notes which makes it even more intriguing. I can’t wait to get my nose on this masterpiece and have a full bottle in my collection once it’s available in Turkey.

  • The notes of this fragrance make me so excited. I really like Sebastian’s taste in fragrances and those that he likes very often are those that I also love. So I’m very excited to try this one. Sebastian had great comments and seems to like this one a lot.
I do have a favorite opera singer, although he I still not a huge super star…yet! Hopefully he will be and I think he should. He is really good and has a great great voice (bass). He is my very dear friend from high school – Sava Vemic. You can already see him all around the globe. I hope he’ll have an amazing career and climb high.
    I’m from Illinois, USA.

  • Sherin Thomas says:

Love the review from the description from Sebastian description ! The love the boozy note with spicy ginger and cardamom . Perfect for fall season

  • Sebastian is pretty much the reason I am now so enamored with fragrances of all types
I follow his YouTube channel faithfully and have learned so much

  • I LOVE SEBASTIAN BECAUSE HE IS SO PASIONATE ABOUT PERFUMES AND HE DESCRIBES THEM SO NICELY THAT I FEEL I AM SMELLING THEM AS I AM WATHING HIS VIDEOS.

  • Loved the review and the pictures shown. The bottle is beautiful. Haven’t tried Amouage perfumes, yet. The notes in Amouage Overture Man are great. Since it’s one of Sebastian’s favorites, I’d think it is indeed a great fragrance. It’d be great to win a sample so one may decide whether to buy they full bottle. Thanks for the review and the draw. Writing from the USA.

  • Sebastian has his unique way to describe fragrances, it is very casual. I also share most of his tastes, kind of a similar liking so it’s a great “point de repère”. Thanks for the review!

  • Filip Nikolic says:

The best thing is that he is reliable and you can really trust him, I did that twice and never failed. I can not wait to put my nose on Overture!

  • Wow, glad to be here and can get give away, i really enjoy the Amouage Interclude, so i wanna try Amouage overture man, love the notes.

  • Love resinous fragrances, and would like to give this a whirl. I love Sebastian’s passion for fragrance, and will absolutely make a purchase when this is available.

My favorite singer is Luciano Pavarotti.

  • My favorite house of all time. I grew up in Oman before moving to USA. Probably Amouage is best niche house in the Middle East and for sure made huge impact on western perfume industry being one the best house in terms of quality and uniqueness.
Amouage was able to introduce perfumes from the old world in very modern way.
    Looking forward to try Overture!

  • Mohammad Al Rashid says:

I have been waiting for overture man to be released worldwide. Thanks to Sebastian for this great review. I like the way he explains the notes which give us the opportunity to have clear idea how does the perfume smell

  • Love how excited Sebastian is about this fragrance.
Very interesting mix of notes, would love try this one out!!!

    From Toronto, Canada

  • I am looking into getting to start my Amouage journey with buying amouage interlude , this seems to be a good start, thanks for the review and looking forward to win this great sexy sample.

  • Sebastian’s reviews are always very thorough and detailed and this one is no exception. Very interested in Overture Man. Patiently waiting for it to be available locally in Australia!

Katherine Jenkins is my sexy opera singer 🙂

  • Always a pleasure watching Sebastian and his in depth reviews of fragrances. I have always been a big fan of Amouage especially their Fate fragrance. I would love to try this new Amouage Overture – Woody, Spicy, Animal Accord.. Sebastian has me sold on this one.

    thank you! 🙂

Favorite opera singer: has to be the legend Maria Callas

    I’m in Canada

  • I love woody spicy scents and Sebastian’s animalic comments makes it sound very appealing. Buying a bottle is completely down to testing it first so hopefully I get a chance to try it out soon.

  • Amouage will always be one of my top 3 fragrance houses. The exploration, the quality, and the competitive price keep me coming back. I was excited to learn about Overture Man on Sebastian’s channel. A complex resinous fragrance sounds perfect for the upcoming fall and winter months and I’d be excited to try it. Thanks for the opportunity! Los Angeles, CA, USA.

  • I loved how Sebastian says “this does it for me” and yes I’m planning to get one once it is available in my country Iraq. I would love to win this 10ml though.

  • I think Sebastian must have said the word “sexy” more than 10 times. 🙂 That plus the fact that this is a myrrh-centered fragrance (it’s been a while since I’ve come across something with myrrh taking centerstage), I think I’m going to like this a lot. I love quite a few of Amouage’s offerings (Interlude Man, Epic Man, etc.) and I think this is something not to miss. Based in the US.

  • Andrei Artimon says:

Love the house , have many of they re offerings . And if something impresses Sebastien so much , it really needs to be something special , new york , usa .

  • Xavier Reynolds says:

I would love to smell Overture Man. The notes sound so great, but Amouage had been hit or miss for me.

  • Animalic sexy with boozy opening as Sebastian described it definitely would make me buy it.Im in EU

  • mariajcastilloor says:

Amouage is my favorite house, it got my heart with Journey Man and I am treasuring my sample until I am able to get a full bottle! Overture Man sounds very interesting. I love a good leather and woody notes!

My favorite sexy opera singer is undoubtedly Elina Garanca in the opera Carmen. Her rendition of Habanera is sexy personified.

Thanks a lot! From MN, USA.

  • Well, Sebastian is my favorite fragrance reviewer out there. Period. This one I smelled and it’s amazing, would love to enter into the giveaway.
PS sexiest opera singer ever is Pavarotti.
    I am from Los Angeles

  • This a much anticipated rare gem, it seems to garner rave reviews on many different sites.
Now with the release of Overture from a Harrod’s exclusive, the World has a chance.
Sebastian piqued my interest with his video review and I hope to win a 10ml bottle.
    SK, Canada

  • Krasimir Lambov says:

Green fragrances are my favourites, but I’d like to try this one. Like all Amouage fragrances the quality should be excellent.

  • I love opera. It’s quite literally my favorite thing thing in the world.
Sorry! I posted my previous comment without making an account. Here’s a resubmission of it with an account. Thank you.

  • I really enjoyed hearing more about the animalic sexy side of this fragrance from Sebastian. Looking at the notes I can tell this is a very opulent and transportive fragrance. As for opera singers- itd be hard to imagine opera without Leontyne Price.

  • This fragrance review from Sebastian has all the notes that I like with woods, spicy and incense. My friend has a bottle but would love to have my own when it is available here. Thanks from Texas, USA.

  • Honeydew Crenshaw says:

I got a decant 5 or 6 weeks ago – not close to being to wear it out in New Orleans. We need another 8 weeks at the least before I can probably wear this out at night

  • In the small town whee Im from, I’ve never had the opportunity to attend the opera. I would love to be able to sample this version, as well as the women’s version! I’m from Illinois USA.

  • Excellent review for a Wonderful and unique smell
    like the all AMOUAGES.
Strong and Bold that no one can ignore. like the voice of PAVAROTTI .
    Smoke
    Bozz
    Spice
    Dark & Soft .
    === ISRAEL===

  • Thanks for the great review Sebastian.

I like myrrh based and spicy fragrances. The animalic note makes we want to get my nose on it.

I unfortuantely have nto had a chance to own/smell an Amouage fragrance.

    Regards from WI, USA

  • Sebastian is always very professional, personable, and gives such clear descriptions of fragrances it’s a joy to listen to. I’ve always been a fan of the Amuage house and would be very interested in smelling this and licking it up based on Sabastian’s take.
Oh and Maria Callas was quite stunning in many ways !

  • Great review from Sebastien. I’ve been waiting for a review on this one since Amouage announced it was no longer a Harrod’s exclusive and I’m very happy to hear the breakdown of notes and how much Seb loved the scent. It sounds right up my alley. Would love a chance to try it out, and I can’t wait for it to come out in Canada. Keep up the great work.

  • Another amazing review by Sebastian. The review is so informative and I almost fall in love instantly with the perfume. Will definitely try to get my nose on it
    Florida, USA

  • Amouage is the first luxury/niche house I’ve ever experienced. Since I first smelled Jubilation 25, I was hooked, and my “fragrance journey” started from there. With many bottles, and many more samples later, there is no doubt a source of sentimentality for me for the house. So along with that is an emotion of excitement whenever I hear news of upcoming Amouage releases! I’ve heard plenty of Overture being one of their best releases in recent memory. Then with Sebastian’s review I knew he would faun over the cumin note lol! I actually haven’t heard much of an emphasis over the particular “animalic” portion of the perfume from other reviewers, so he surprised me with how he described it. All I knew was that this was a dark, woody and boozy fragrance. I can totally imagine this could be worn by the Phantom of the Opera himself as you included Cumberbatch in the article! Alas, along with Fate Man I haven’t been able to sample this fragrance from the house! Sellers that I’ve been able to see price decants way too high for what you get. As an Amouage fan, I would be so grateful to have to opportunity to win one of these travel sprays! I’m in California in the USA. As for the extra credit, unfortunately I don’t have a favorite “sexy opera singer” as I rarely listen to opera lol!

  • With this glowing review I am curious. It sounds like something I would love. I would have to test first before purchase. USA. Thank you!

  • Sebastian is always genuine and we share similar taste, I have some great experience with his recommendations. I would love to try the Overture because of his recommendation, and also the fact I like woody spicy and boozy fragrances.
    Favorite opera singer: Anna Netrebko
    Boston, USA

  • florentfejzula says:

Usually the perfumes that impress Sebastian on first sniff are a love for me too. Add to that the fact that Overture Man has basically all my favorite notes (myrrh, sandalwood, cognac, incense…). Oh boy! Really looking forward to try this one. I would sample before buying a full bottle. North Macedonia, EU.

Sexy opera performance? Antonio Banderas in the duet with Sarah Brightman in ‘The Phantom of the Opera’.

  • Big fan of Amouage so I am pretty happy Sebastian reviewed this fragrance. I live in the USA and plan on purchasing Overture. Andrea Bocelli is my favorite opera singer.

  • I liked how excited Sebastian got about the fragrance. You can clearly tell he is in love with it! I also liked how he gave credit to the perfumer, Karine Spehner. I’m not a super big fan of musky scents, so I’m unsure if I will be buying it upon release. Although I would love to get my hands on a sample and be convinced of it’s greatness. I’m in IL, USA for the giveaway. Oh, and for the sexy opera singer…Katherine Jenkins of course!

  • Sexy sounds good, especially if cumin is involved! I would buy it if I were rich, I rotate perfumes daily… Greetings from the UK.

  • Wow, Sebastian sounded so very excited about this one!
The animal accord running through the whole evolution and creating a fuzzy, sexy, musky dimension got me enthralled too. The myrrh being there the whole time as well was also a plus point, because I love myrrh. Overall, the pyramid sounds lush, complex and sensual. I cannot say if I wanna buy this once it comes out where I am, but trying it would help me make up my mind. I am in the EU.

Extra credit entry: ok, is it too simple if I say Anna Netrebko? She’s THE sexy bomb though and we all know it.
Other than her: Anna Moffo, Virginia Zeani, Birgit Nilsson (it’s not about the looks, it’s about the attitude!), nowadays Isabel Leonard, Ruxandra Donose, Anna Caterina Antonacci.
Guys: Jonas Kaufmann (I know it’s the equivalent of Anna Netrebko, but the truth is the truth), Charles Castronovo, Franco Corelli, Ildebrando d’Arcangelo, Riccardo Zanellato, Simon Keenlyside, Rodney Gilfry, Samuel Ramey.

  • Love how detailed and honest Sebastian is on his reviews! I will buy it if I get a sample and like it – price tag is a bit high for a blind buy

  • This looks like a bonafide masterpiece by Amouage.
Your review makes me want to instantly grab this one as soon as it’s available in Malta!
I would love to have a 10ml sample to carry around with me.
    Brilliant review Sebastian! Thanks!
A Maria Callas Opera to accompany this fragrance!

  • This sounds incredible. I love Amouage and it’s offerings starting from Epic, Jubilation, Interlude, and Reflection. I like Sebastian’s review too brief and informative. Hopefully I’d be lucky enough to win this giveaway .

  • Eduardo Alvarez Chirino says:

Acabo de comprar Amouage Journey Man y estoy disfrutándolo muchísimo. Espero poder comprar Overture en cuanto llegue a mi ciudad pero antes me gustaría probarla. Un saludo

  • I love the smell of musk and for it to be as accurate as Sebastian described it it sounds amazing. I love the woody notes as well. I can’t seem to find anywhere to try this as well as many other fragrances in Australia but i would love to grab a bottle from amouage and if i could try the 10ml and enjoy it id love to cop a full bottle.

  • Few things I do on YouTube is watching fragrance review from Sebastian or watch car review. Sebastian is my favourite YouTube frag reviewer. No post go without me paying attention to every little details that comes out of his mouth. With his honest review and in debt analysis of each note. He always paint the picture in a perfect way possible and that always helps. His review on Overture Man is just perfect as always and already got me interested in trying it out.He has recommend this and I would probably buy it after trying it out.
    With Love, London – UK

  • Fascinating and comprehensive as always the Sebastian’s review of that gem. A complex and balanced fragrance in its construction and the result sounds terribly sexy and engaging. Simply irresistible!
As soon as it is available in nearby niche perfumeries, I will run to test it. My favorite sexy opera singer is Juan Diego Florez.
    I live in EU.
    Thanks!

  • Always interesting and competent reviews by Sebastian.. I would like to try this one before buying, I’m a great Amouage fan.

  • Abdulrahman ibrahim says:

Great review and am excited to try this master piece as soon as possible.
Sure I will buy one once its available in saudi arabia.

  • Amazing description as always by Sebastian, looking forward to sample the scent as soon as it hits shelves in Germany.

  • I’m Sebastian fan and I like his taste in perfume when it comes to oriental, oud, musk, smoky, animalic type of fragrance.
I’m from Saudi Arabia, I’m not really into opera but I think Luciano Pavarotti is great.

  • I always enjoy Sebastian’s in-depth reviews. He give a concise and clear descriptions on what to expect when you try one of his recommendations. What piqued my interest in this is that it’s Animalic, but in a sexy way. I don’t like offensive fragrances.

I have saved up a bit to spoil myself with some high quality fragrances soon. Those 10ml tester bottles will definitely help me to decide which perfume to get next.

    UK

  • I always enjoy how in depth and thorough his reviews are. He always makes me feel like I can smell the fragrance before even trying it. I plan on gettin a bottle is I like it enough. Favorite opera singer of mine is Mike Rowe.

  • You know the more fragrances I try that I’ve heard about from Sebastian, the more I think I have very similar taste to him.. This sounds like another I would enjoy due to the resinous, spicy ingredients! I’ve never tried any Amouge fragrance but they are one of the houses I want to start checking in to! As always Sebastian seems to give you all the details you need to make informed decisions, and getting to hear about one that has been exclusive is always neat!

  • I was really waiting for Sebastian’s video about Ouverture Man. I was really curious to put my nose on it, and now i’m even more! Will I buy it? I really don’t know. Listening to Sebastian’s description this could Be a show stopper. If so…I’ll buy it.

  • Faisal keshwnai says:

Really excited about all the notes in here specially the ginger cumin and geranium and saffron along with all the other notes.

  • I really Love Amouage, amazing fragrances I have Interlude , Sunshine woman ( that to me is not femmine at all ) and my beloved Lyric & Fate, I look forward to put my nose on it

  • I enjoyed Sebastian’s obvious enjoyment and instant love for this fragrance. I absolutely want to sample this when it is available in the USA. I am slightly concerned by the civet note but it can be good when done right. I know no opera singers but hope that isn’t taken against me in the drawing!

  • I can hear the excitement in his voice on this one throughout, so I’d be excited to win it. I’d buy it if I loved it. US

  • Sebastian’s videos always have such great production value! It also never seems like his reviews are biased. I’m a big fan of Amouage so I’d love to pick this up ! in Canada

  • AMOUAGE!!! And again : AMOUAGE!
There is nothing left to say.
I love this house and hope to win this sweet bottles.
    Thank you, i’m from Germany

  • Amouage is a tricky house for me – I can find them to be a bit heavy handed. That said, Overture does sound intriguing and might work for me! I enjoyed Seb’s review, he is a fantastic reviewer that really helps me understand the composition and wearability of a fragrance. Honestly I would probably not buy this on my own since I am not a massive Amouage fan. Prove me wrong! From Canada!

  • I loved Sebastian’s description of Overture Man it sounds really good. The leather is the only note that worries me. Loved his description of the animalic accord that is present throughout but stronger in the dry down and sexy while not being overpowering id really like to experience this. I won’t be purchasing it right away upon it becoming available in Th U.S. to be honest I can’t afford it at the moment lol but I’d love to try it and if it is a love purchase it in the future. From the U.S. thanks for the generous draw.
Extra Credit: Probably Olga Peretyatko, Isabel Leonard, and/or Hila Fahima. Not that I know much about opera though lol…

  • Nice review.Love opera-Tosca is my fave-and love perfumes. So great combo.would love to buy it! Andrea Bocelli is sexiest opera singer and Alin Stoica is very talented.I live in Italy

  • HiMyNameIsWaste says:

This sounds like it might be the best Amouage yet: Fate Man is one of my favorites from the original line, so I’m eager to smell what Vinchon has done here. “Sexy and fuzzy” sounds fantastic.

As far as opera singers go, Angela Gheorghiu ain’t bad looking.

I live in Nashville, TN USA. I’ll definitely be sampling this from LuckyScent once it’s available.

  • I loved the way Sebastian describes this fragrance- spot on. This is one of my favorite’s from the house.

Laura Wright is my favorite opera singer and she is very sexy like Overture!

  • Love the description of the spices and the bottle looks awesome! I will not be planning on buying a bottle

  • What a treat of a video review! I always find Sebastian’s enthusiasm and knowledge for fragrances infectious and inspiring, but this was next level! I could tell within a few seconds that this was going to be a special fragrance, simply by his tone and body language (I think I would have been able to tell even with the sound off that this was in the very top tier of fragrances for him – he was positively beaming/glowing!). I’m sure this will feature in many of his top 20 lists in the future (actually – it already has – his top 20 autumn luxury fragrances posted today!).

As for my sexiest opera singer, I would have to say my wife! While not being a soloist, she has sung in several symphony choruses here in the UK alongside professional symphony orchestras (all alongside her day job!). She has performed under great conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle and Marin Alsop, singing the great operas from Mozart to Verdi, and modern operatas from John Adams. We were even going to travel to New York next month where her choir were going to perform at Carnegie Hall – would have been an incredible highlight and an amazing trip, but we will hopefully make it one day when this is over!

Thanks for opening up this competition to the UK – if I win the travel spray, I will certainly be wearing it the next time my wife performs in concert again!

  • Wow! I love Sebastian’s review on this fragrance. And I like woody-spicy perfumes. I love Amouage very much, especially Dia Man.
    US

  • Amouage has a ” preparation perfumee” or basic perfumers formula as a start base for many of his compositions, that means that when a perfumer like Karine Vinchon Spehner was given the commission to create a scent for Amouage she had to blend it into her own fragrance, that’s why Amouage perfumes have a very distinctive blend of spices like cumin, pepper, cloves, caraway, saffron, blended with oud, woods and resins like Frankincense, benzoin, Myrrh, etc. Amouage fragrances strive to reflect the true culture and spirit of Oman, a country that upholds rich traditions, heritage, and culture. Editor Sebastian Jara makes a very positive and neutral review focussing on the notes blended and quite frankly you can almost smell it from your pc screen,a very good review. A fragrance inspired by Opera must have 3 crucial ingredients: a great love story, drama and death. Cognac note is a very intriguing note, dry acidic Cognac/Brandy as you would smell it from a “Ballon Verre” or snifter sounds very appealing to me.
As sexy opera singers: Juan Diego Florez, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Xabier Anduaga, Anna Netrebko, Lisset Oropesa, Patricia Pettibon, etc etc…but if you want to see Lolita on steroids or the most femme fatal ever to perform on stage: György Sándor Ligeti: Mysteries of the Macabre performed by Barbara Hannigan & London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Simon Rattle. Please, watch it on youtube, it will change forever your conception of what is an Opera.

  • wandering_nose says:

After watching the review I think that as someone who is familiar with and surrounded by countless perfume masterpieces on a daily basis, Sebastian must have been clearly blown away by this fragrance. And that in itself pretty much says it all. Thank you Sebastian! With the spicy sensuality running through the composition from start to finish, with myrrh as the star of the show, supported by the deep woody musky – animalic accord, this is a love for me already. However, with the brand being on the pricey side, I would need too test it properly before committing to purchasing a full bottle. My favorite sexy opera singer is the outstanding Andrea Bocelli!

  • Have only recently purchased my first Amouage fragrance, Beach Hut. We’re heading into another hot summer in Australia and I’m looking forward to freshness that lasts. Sebastian generally tells us when the review fragrance will be best for. I can start putting the bickies away for a bottle of Overture Man before next fall. (Autumn Here). The Amouage travel bottles look stunning.

  • anthony.skrivan says:

Loved Sebastian’s review of Overture Man! This one sounds like a scent I would bond with and really enjoy just like he did. Boozy spicy leather incense….yum. I would buy a full bottle after sampling if I love it. USA
Favorite opera singer is Danielle de Niese

  • I’ve only checked out 2 Amouage (Lyric and Jubilation), but don’t own any otherwise. I like that Sebastian always gives a caveat about cumin and how it’s used. I don’t have a problem with cumin, but for animalics I prefer castoreum. Besides that, it sounds excellent… an animalic boozy myrrh. If I can get a hold of a sample. I’d be glad to wear it out… better yet if I can win a travel atomizer. Thanks in advance.

  • I don’t own any Amouage yet, but I love the house. I have tried a few and they are just amazing. Sebastian’s detailed description and positive comments and excitement about this new release really made me want to try (own) this one. I can’t wait to try it and I would love to win one of the travel sizes. Definitely getting a bottle after that. Thanks for this opportunity. I’m from Montreal, Canada.

  • Wow, this one sounds fantastic! From what Sebastian described it sounds like the animalic notes are extremely well blended. I also find it interesting that this has mastic in it. I definitely want to try it, once it is available where I am. Thanks for the review and the giveaway. I’m in the US.

  • In Sebastian’s review, I like how he described his experience with the fragrance as an instant love. This really makes me want to smell the fragrance and I have high expectations because it is an Amouage fragrance. I do not plan on buying a full bottle, but when it is available I do plan on sampling the fragrance. Kind regards from Illinois, USA.

  • I am intrigued by the spicy, boozy and animalic accords that Sebastian mentions in his review. It’s a little pricey but I would purchase it once I had a chance to get my nose around it. If it is as good as Sebastian says then I will probably like this one a lot.
    I hail from Alberta Canada.
Extra Credit: Anna Netrebko for sexy opera singer.

  • Ooh this sounds great a woody and spicy fragrance, I think tihs is right up my alley and the way Sebastian describes makes me want to try it even more!! Living in the EU

  • I love a nicely made animalic perfume. Especially if it’s woody spicy. It’s not easy to blend such a perfume and when done right it becomes amazing. I enjoyed the review and the imaging it was associated with. USA

  • Mohammed Alnokhatha says:

I have been a big fan of Sebastian videos a long time a go, his top 20 videos is really difficult to be done for any youtuber and it always give me the flexibility to try his recommendations in the best way it suits me (price , availability and weather…ect). and one of the best feature of him is that he always keep up in reviewing new fragrances once its release.

I like his content a lot especially when he describe the notes of the fragrance and let me imagine the smelling without actually smelling it and he influenced me several times on purchasing his recommended fragrances without trying them (Blind Buy) because i trust in his taste.

of course Im planning to purchase (Amouage Overture) once its available worldwide and at that time i just want to get my nose on it, to be honest I trust in Sebastian opinion and i want to purchase it now but its not available in my country (Bahrain) at this time.

    Thanks for the opportunity

    Kind regards,
    Alnokhatha

  • Agree that cumin is a beautiful, but dangerous note. For opera, go with Sandra Warfield. A good mezzo does it every time.

  • I would love to try it, I’ve tried pretty much all Amouages but this really looks completely different.

  • Sebastian’s review got me all happy. Very eager to get my nose on this new fragrance and add it to my collection. Sebastian’s taste is quite in line with mine so it must be a masterpiece. My favourite sexy opera singer is Cecilia Bartoli and I’m residing in Belgium.

  • Amazing review by Sebastian as always and did not have the opportunity to try this one although after the review, can’t wait!!! Love Cumin but it has to be delicately blended to make something exceptional. I did love the Fate fragrance from Amouage too. Due to travel limitations we could not travel to London as this was a Harrods exclusive so can’t wait to get my hand on that one once it arrives in my country.

My favourite opera singer is Renée Fleming, she truly transports me to another world each time I hear her perform. Really do check her out. I live in Luxembourg, Europe. Thanks!

  • Thank you for this wonderful opportunity! I have not tested any of Amouage’s latest releases, but I do remember when I used to rock Lyric, Epic, Dia, Jubilation and Reflection. Like 8 years ago. Great memories.

I am in EU. Thank you!

  • This one has some interesting notes going on. Cognac, resins, spices and animalic notes – they do sound interesting.
    Thanks for the draw!

  • Wow. It’s great to be able to participate in this giveaway. thank you for the great content you make. and thanks to Amouage for this opportunity. I would buy it if I can.

  • This perfume seems to tick so many boxes. Boozy, animalic, spicy, made by Karine Vinchon Spehner (like Interlude Woman), approved by Sebastian Jara. I have to get my nose on this. I hope it will be available near me. My favorite sexy opera singer is Mario Frangoulis. I live in Denmark, EU.

  • Cognac accord with a heart of Myrrh and mastic resin is a wonderful evocative fragrance description from Sebastian. Instant love for sure! I want my husband to smell like Overture Man now! Sebastian also briefly mentioned, Portrayal Man with violet leaf note sounds lovely too, will have to order a sample. Favourite sexy opera singer? Philippe Jaroussky for sure!
    ~ Canada

  • I like how Sebastian broke down the scent and gave a sense of how it develops. If I were just to read the list of notes, it would sound like a bit of a mess with so many notes thrown into it, but Sebastian, as always, recreates the experience of wearing it. It looks a little bit out of my price range, so I will probably not spring for it when it becomes available, but that is so much more of a reason why it would be great to win the mini-bottle. In the US, in NC.

  • I love how Sebastian described the animalic notes here. Have been contemplating a full bottle ever since it was released, but didn’t dare blind buy as Amouage didn’t have samples. So this would be a greatly opportunity to try it before I decide. I am in the Netherlands, so my only option is the Amouage website.

Hila Fahima is one pretty good pretty singer!

  • I enjoyed Sebastian’s review! I like Amouage, especially it’s quality, and spicy, woody, animalistic new Amouage – sounds great.
My favourite opera singer is Gohar Gasparyan and Maria Callas.

  • Ahmer Shabir Hussain says:

Overture sounds like a very interesting, deep and complex composition by an honorable perfumer named Karine – Vinchon – Spehner who has made fragrances for big niche houses such as L’Artisan Parfumeur and also Amouage that she worked before with by creating two amazing fragrances named Fate for man and also the women’s version. This time she has created a woody spicy fragrance which seems to be quite sex appealing. I love the fact that even tought the scent seems pleasing for most of the noses and could eventually be mass-pleasing, it has It’s own complexity by shifting towards many differents scent profiles throuhought the life and journey of the fragrance. I would love to try the fragrance and participate to the giveaway. Good luck to everybody and greetings from Paris !

  • Sebastian always is so eloquent with his reviews. I definitely plan on picking up a bottle of this once it drops. USA

  • I like to try anything that is described as sexy and has a boozy note. When Sebastian brought up those qualities the fragrance immediately had my interest. In terms of favorite sexy opera singer, I would say Tara from Nightwish. Maybe that doesn’t count as legit opera, but she is great.

  • Sebastian’s review was great, Overture Man sounds amazing!
I’ve sampled a few Amouage fragrances and liked them all.
Thanks for the chance to win, I would love to sample this.
    Canada

  • Top notch review by Sebastian. As always I appreciate how he explain which notes take center stage and the overall feel of the fragrance. I generally like woody fragrances and spicy fragrances and although I don’t have any in my small collection right now, I do intend to add some at some point. As far as me buying a bottle when it’s available I am afraid that the life of a grad student is not conducive to the kinds of prices that this fragrance requires, but one I graduate this will be high on my list. Thank you for the giveaway and I am from Tennessee, USA.

  • Michael Prince says:

Sebastian, I really enjoyed your review of Amouage Overture Man. This sounds like a sensual resinous, floral, spicy, and animalic musky scent. This sounds like the perfect amount of sensual animalic musk without going to far. I would love to sample this out when it’s released and if it’s really good I would definitely purchase it. My favorite sexy Opera Singer is Daniela Mack. I am from the USA.

  • Thanks for this draw. This sounds rwally Special with all the ingredients making it sexy. My favourite opera singer is Maria Callas. I live in the EU.

  • The fragrance description for Amouage Overture Man by Sebastian Jara sounds amazing.
The the fragrance notes have captivated my attention as a must smell at the earliest opportunity.
I’m hooked now real me in!

  • Every time I’m thinking about Amouage, I’m thinking about Interlude Man . Stunning fragrance.Happy to own it , one of the best , if not the best ever created in the incense category . Finished 3 bottles during the years , and on my 4th i alredy made a dent on 🙂
Overture Man is new to me , but i like masculine woody fragrances, with myrrh.
I’ll sample it, if i really like it , I may get a bottle.
    Thanks to all

  • Love at first sniff?!? I can’t wait to try this one. Based on Sebastian’s review it sounds like it would be a safe blind buy for me. I really enjoyed this review.

  • Both Overture Man , and the the female counterpart i don’t know.
As a woman i do love the house of Amouage , but to be honest i mostly prefer men’s versions.Reflection Men > Reflection Women , Lyric Man>Lyric Women and so on.
Own full bottles of Jubilation XXV – 100% unisex fragrance too , Journey Woman -the only one on pair with men’s version, and 10ml decant of Lilac Love-a fragrance i adore , and i do plan to get full bottle .
I have a feeling I’ll enjoy both Overtures this time 🙂
    Thank you
Back and forth between USA and Scotland, 1 week in US -> 1 week in Scotland, and so on. Basically both USA and Scotland at the same time

  • Sebastian again <3 First things first – the bottle is so luxury and outstanding! As for the review, i don't want to write anything, I've been saying so much good stuff about Sebastian and I don't him to become narcissistic 🙂 BTW Amouage is one of my favourites niche brand, so many good releases. EU, Poland

  • I am a newbie to niche fragrances however I know that scent is very, very, subjective. Having watched Sebastien’s video just now I really liked how he broke down the three reactions one can have to fragrance.
    1. Acquired Taste
    2. No go!
    3. Love at first sniff!
With Amouage, I do know that I do like scents from this house, and I am intrigued with Overture Man as to how the leather and animalistic base will match the sweet musk. As much as you can paint the picture in words you will really never know if its a hit or miss until you sniff, so send me the sample already!

  • I absolutely adore Amouage’s creations. My latest purchase is Sunshine Man, but I would love to purchase this one as soon as it will be launched globally.
What I really enjoyed about Sebastian’s review was his complex and throughout commentary on how fragrance unveils its beauty. Very useful.
I have to correct Sebastian, that Madame Karine Vinchon Spehner also created Memoir Man!
    I am from the EU

  • Woody Spicy and boozy is my cup of tea. Would be great to see this in the Amouage lineup ! Great review and really sold the essence of the frag !

  • m.r.everything says:

This was such a pleasant surprise when I saw this being reviewed by Sebastian, as I have wanted this one ever since I read of its release last year! I was definitely bummed when I learned that it was exclusive to Harrods, as Overture Man sounds more then right up my alley, it sounds like a scent made for me! Everything from the notes, the exclusivity, the packaging, and the gorgeous color of the juice inside the elegant frosted bottle…. they all make this a vital fragrance for me to get my nose on! I have yet to smell it, but I feel like it is going to e an experience just like Sebastian had…. I feel like this one is going to be a love at first sniff fragrance for me! Sebastian gets me even more excited when he says this is a next level fragrance. Really?!?!?! Now, I want it even more! Amouage has some heavy hitters in their range, shoot, almost all of their fragrances have been knocked out of the park! I DEFINITELY plan on making a full bottle purchase of this one when it is more widely available for sure! Andrea Bocelli would have to be my favorite opera singer. I am a huge audiophile and love almost every genre of music, and although I have less opera compositions than most of my other music, I enjoy kicking back with a glass of wine listening to some truly magical pieces of art! Thank you Sebastian, for reassuring me that I “NEED” to purchase Overture Man and for your thoughts & take on this masterpiece! Thank you Amouage, for constantly creating beauty in fragrance and for your generosity! It is appreciated more than you know! One of my favorite fragrances happens to be Jubilation 25, not only for the scent (which is heavenly) but because my grandmother had purchased this fragrance for me. The day the fragrance came in was the day she passed away, so I will cherish this scent forever! Scent is a beautiful thing! Thank you Michelyn, for everything you do for this community! You are appreciated a great deal! Sending love, gratitude, and warm wishes from Delaware, US. Good luck all and stay safe friends!

  • I always like Sebastian’s reviews and he does such a good explaining the fragrance. I was hesitant reading about the cumin note, but those resins, yum! For fragrances this pricey, my rule is to sample before buying, so I’d love to win this giveaway. I live in the USA. Thanks for the giveaway!

  • Stefan Stoianov says:

I liked the note breakdown done in the review, woody spicy Oorientals are some of my favorite style frags . I am big fan if Amouage and plan in buying Overture man.

  • Abdallah Almallah says:

Thank GOD I found your channel, surprisingly you are one of the best that I have ever seen on YouTube, keep the good work sir sebastian

  • The house of Amouage is very special to me because two of their fragrances were my first introduction into niche perfumes. The first was Interlude, then later it was Reflection Man.Amouage gives each fragrance an identity, and this is what makes it special.

  • Beautiful review of a beautiful fragrance I got a 1ml sample and fell in love. I like the way you say the word ‘sexy’ because that is really the best way to describe this fragrance. In the purest sense of the word. I think Shirley Verrett was super sexy in her younger days.

  • Excellent, unctuous review!

This review left me drenched in seductive wafts of civet and musk which, together with the opening hit of cognac will, I hope, transport all who are lucky enough to smell this new divine Amouage fragrance, on a sensual journey from brandy to randy!

As for opera singers, look no further than the luscious María de Montserrat Viviana Concepción Caballé.

  • Can’t believe you post the video of that old man in the cap. His videos are the worst. He just reads off notes from fragrantica and then describes his own “experience” with it by just describing the notes again. And he does circular reasoning, for example he would say ” this reminds me of mystery and nite because it smells very mysterious and I find it fitting for nite. ” he’s just repetitious in how he describes his 10 min videos could be 2 mins if he edited out all the unnecessary repetition.
