Escentric Molecules Molecule 04 and Escentric 04 (Geza Schoen) 2017 ~New Fragrance Review+Bringing Sexy Back Draw

Geza Schoen just celebrated the 10th year of Escentric 01 A CaFleureBon Modern Masterpiece (photo per Escentric)

I've had the distinct pleasure of smelling much of Geza Schoen's work on many people. My first episode of being smitten was one of his compositions for Linda Pilkington of Ormonde JayneOrmonde Jayne Tolu with its sultriness-sans-heft character. There were many more to follow. Ah, but Kinski ! THAT had me over the barrel…The edgier, the better – as far as I'm concerned. And now to the new Escentric Molecules 04 series.

Javenol molecule ©

“What I love about Javanol is its almost psychedelic freshness,” says Geza Schoen. "It smells as if liquid metal grapefruit peel were poured over a bed of velvety cream colored roses."

Molecule 04

This was instantaneous sorcery in the copper-hued travel size bottles so kindly provided. Whatever the dilution may be, I found this to be my favorite of the two fragrances due to its intangible subtlety, outrageous tenacity – and the marvelous fact that nearly every male I've sprayed it on appears to be anosmic to it –  at the outset, at least..

Idris Elba Details Magazine

In an ideal world I would engage in throes of an excessively carnal nature with Idris Elba, and we would both be wearing Molecule 04.This fragrance composed solely of the aromachemical Javanol yields up its secrets over the fullness of time and space. It becomes YOU; you don't become it. Certainly there is an initial scintillating facet of grapefruit peel and metal, but it is merely the commencement of a long journey which leads me to creamy, weightlessly persistent sandalwood intimating flesh and perspiration – a sort of lascivious saltiness married to wood.

When I say long-lived, I'm referring to undergarments I've laundered which still retain vestiges of Molecule 04 after several washings: it might not be perceptible to some,  but I'm tantalizingly aware of it. It's my conspiratorial smile.

Escentric 04

“In Escentric 04 Schoen takes the grapefruit note in Javanol and revs it to hypermodern freshness.”

I experience Escentric 04 as a zesty, fizzy tonic romp – irrefutably invigorating.  Pink grapefruit pops with barely-constrained vivacity. It has oodles of company which up the ante: a seamless inclusion of savory (juniper, pink pepper), fruity (bergamot, osmanthus as apricot fruit leather), florid (expansive Hedione, freesia, orris, rose), balsamic/woody (Javanol, mastic, vetiver, Iso E Super, Ambroxan) elements and judiciously dosed animalics (labdanum straddling the amber/herbal/animalic/balsamic tightrope, musk, castoreum).

Christian Bale GQ

Escentric 04 is a smooth operator: suave, timeless, a contemporary antidote to olfactory boredom. It's a glorious masculine, but not so 'extra-butch-with-butch-sauce' that it doesn't smell fabulous on a woman (I am a woman, after all). It dries down beautifully; like several of the perfumer's compositions – you may lose track of it over time, only to rediscover it at a later hour while others nearby have been enjoying it discreetly throughout the day.

Natalie Portman Elle France 2016

Its charm is insidious, and longevity is superb.I could as easily envision that deliciously intense Shaun Evans (star of PBS/BBC Endeavour) wearing Escentric 04 as I might the fearless brainy beauty Natalie Portman. Warum nicht?

Notes: Pink Grapefruit, Bergamot, Juniper Berry, Pink Pepper, Hedione, Freesia, Osmanthus, Orris, Rose, Javanol, Mastic, Labdanum, Iso E Super, Musk, Ambroxan, Castoreum, Vetiver

Samples sweetly provided by Escentric Molecules and Geza Schoen; opinions, my own.

Escentric Molecule feels more complex and almost a whole perfume composition instead of something that focuses on one main ingredient. It is also well-suited to summer now but I am more intrigued by Molecule 04 that is javanol and reminds one of sandalwood. I must say too many women lust after Idris Elba 🙂 I am in the US.

  • I live in Virginia, USA and I like the way the review talks about pushing the edge. I own Molecule 01 and Kinski, with Kinski being one of the favorites in my collection. The person I think is sexy? Well Ida of course!

  • Dear John T: you are sweet. I am far from coy: I was 27′, never wore that much makeup, and it was a resumé photo taken for Boris Goldovsky, who double-cast me as Carmen along with a then- young Lorraine Hunt (Lieberson).

  • Always been curious about Geza’s Molecule 01 but never got the chance to smell it. The hint of metal in 04 sounds interesting. And I agree with John T that Ida is very sexy in that photo!
    I’m in France.

  • Thank you Ida for this beautyful review. I like this phraze: “Escentric 04 is a smooth operator: suave, timeless, a contemporary antidote to olfactory boredom”. Now i try to imagine that.
usually I am not fan of Escentric Molecules perfumes, but I like 02 Escentic an my be Kinski.
It is very difficult to choose from sexy persons only a on.

I love Ida’s penchant for being forward with her feelings, which is very attractive. Damn! The lady who has always held sway over me and my overactive imagination is Sophia Loren–classy, sexy, beautiful, just everything a man would want. My favorite fragrance by Geza Schoen is Molecule 01, which I wear by itself when I don’t want to wear any other fragrance on an extremely hot day, or when I layer it on top of another when a fragrance needs a bit of a push. I would like to gradually acquire all of the Escentric Molecules lineup, and love what they are doing. Thanks for the review! — Tom in San Jose, California.

  • Two new fragrances of grapefruit, liquid metal grapefruit peel or popping pink grapefruit. The two Escentric 04 and Molecule 04 based around a refreshing grapefruit vibe. A fragrance that works around your chemistry is very interesting… I do live in the US… THANK YOU

  • I wouldn’t mind a perfume that stays in undergarments after several washings. 🙂 I like all the Molecule and Escentric creations from Geza. usa

  • I am fascinated by Geza but I’ve yet to ever try any of the fragrances!

  • GrandmaGaga says:

Both of these sound quite intriguing; I don’t think I could choose which one I would like to try more than the other and when I saw we have a chance to win both!? Yay! I have tried none from this line but have much about them. Thank you for the chance!

  • Hi what appealed to me was the amazing details the writer puts out that you can almost smell it,and how difference this house is with the play on these aroma molecules.

Escentric 04 got me at the part with “smooth operator” and the description afterwards only strengthens my opinion that this one should be a total winner. Plus the name! Got to love the name “Escentric”!

My favourite fragrance from Geza has to be Kinski.

I live in Eu. Thanks for the draw!

  • Both descriptions are great but I’m dying to try Escentric 04 because “hypermodern freshness” sounds amazing. Thank you for the draw!
I live in Europe and my favorite from Geza Schoen is Escentric 03.

I love the description of Molecule 4, especially the “lascivious saltiness married to wood.” Very exciting words. I need to try it. I love Kinski by Geza Schoen. It just seems daring and slightly like a no-no to wear it. I live in the USA.

  • Great review what really caught my attention was the use of these molecules as a theme and i learned alot from this article about these synthetics,
    Fav geza fragrance kinski

I am in the US. I like fragrances that stick around subtly, that meld with your smell on your clothes and only know that you don’t really smell that good naturally 😉 Nice to know that this is one of those. I like Champaca by Ormond Jayne, the first time I smelled that note 🙂

  • Amazing review! These fragrances sounds very unique and interesting. I have never tried this type of fragrances. I am very curious. I have never tried any fragrance by Geza Schoen. Thank you for the draw. I live in Europe.

  • What didn’t I like about this post?? Ida has a way of drawing me into her experience of the fragrance, kudos Ida.. A favorite of Geza’s is also a tough choice of which drawing straws might be the best option. I love Vanille D’Iris, Talu, and Frangipani. Thanks for the great read and for the awesome draw. I’m in the US.

  • Hikmat Sher Afridi says:

Thanks Ida for interesting reviews of both! Ida photo with conspiratorial smile is gorgeous! This statement is appealing…….It becomes YOU; you don’t become it. I enjoying wearing Geza’s creations of KINSKI, Nawab of Oudh, Montabaco and Molecule 01.
Thanks to Geza Schoen & his marvelous team at Escentric and CafleureBon by letting my relative/son-in-law address in US/Canada.

    Great review.

I love the description of Molecules especially Molecule 4.

Thanks for the chance, I’m in Canada.

  • I am a big fan of molecule 01.

    The review is written beautifully.

I would love to win this.

    In USA.

  • when I first heard that Geza Schoen was releasing a new eccentric/molecule, I got very excited because I absolutely adore Molecule 01 and found that when I wore it, the compliments were insane (even though you really don’t smell it on yourself, although I seem to now, but not so much when I first wore it). He is such a talented creator. I also love the grapefruity, zesty type scents from time to time, especially in the warm hot months of summer. Looking forward to this, thank you for the opportunity. I’m in the US and registered.
