The lunar New Year (aka Chinese New Year) begins midnight on January 29th. 2025  and is the year of the wood snake, a combination known for wisdom, patience, and mystery. Strategic thinking and analytic skills are the talents of the cool and calculating snake personality. Combined with the warm growth, stability and creativity of wood, 2025 looks to be a year of introspection, renewal and positive transformations. The snake’s calm ability to adapt to new environments and challenges speaks to serpentine patience and transformative energy. Elegant and charming, snake personalities carry an air of mystery. Famous wood snakes include Stephen Hawking, Mahatma Gandhi, and Audrey Hepburn.

Chinese New Year in Hong Kong 2025

My Family Time in Hong Kong, collage by Rachel K. Ng

My own family celebrated an early get together for Chinese New Year in Hong Kong this year. We were reminded to take care of some traditional practices to help ensure a lucky 2025. Starting on January 29th, and for the following 15 days, good luck comes from the following: postpone your haircut or you’ll cut your wealth for the coming year, refrain from sweeping the floor or you might accidentally sweep out 2025’s good luck, and don’t buy new shoes until after 15 days or you might bring extra stress into 2025. To add extra beauty and luxury into your life in 2025, I suggest trying three Perfumes for the Year of the Wood Snake 2025.

House of Bo Bombon Perfumes for Wood Snake Chinese New Year 2025

The House of Bo Bombón (Honorine Blanc): The harmonious energy of the Wood Snake will make 2025 an ideal year for strengthening bonds with loved ones. The year will encourage empathy, deep communication, and mutual understanding, fostering stronger personal connections. A spicy gourmand is definitely on order for the year of the wood snake. House of Bō’ Bombón by Honorine Blanc is a spicy take on a sweet gourmand fragrance. The pink pepper and cognac fire of the fragrance makes an unusual and kinetic pairing with its sweet marshmallow and caramel layers. Friendships will flourish and family unity will deepen, perhaps a chance to find peaceful resolutions for past conflicts. Spray some of this spicy gourmand energy to find connection in the year of the wood snake. Notes: lychee, lily of the valley, white saffron, pink pepper, marshmallow, caramel, birch, cognac, Ambrox®

Meo Fusciuni Viole Nere (Guiseppe Imprezzabile): Meo Fusciuni creates the charming and elegant aura of the wood snake, wise yet introspective and wrapped in a warm woodiness. Sophisticated and moody mauve florals open the fragrance with lithe muguet lift. There is a special elegance and mystery to the wood snake that the powdery iris and layered depth of  Viole Nere shows beautifully. At first glance, the fragrance is soft and sophisticated, but with time it shows its intelligent, smoky structure with spice and frankincense spark. The wood snake has an aspect to their personality that is introspective and connected to nature, as Viole Nere is both complex and softly introspective. Notes: cassis, cognac, violet, iris, lily of the valley, jasmine, rose, ylang, vetiver, frankincense, sandalwood, patchouli, oakmoss, vanilla, musk

Perfumes for the Wood Snake Chinese New Year 2025 Kajal Noir

Kajal Lamar Noir (Patrick Muller): Within the Chinese zodiac, the snake is known for its ability to shed its skin, symbolizing personal growth and a continuous process of renewal. In 2025, this strategic and introspective nature is complemented by the element of wood, which fosters growth, balance, and connection with nature. Kajal Lamar Noir, by perfumer Patrick Muller is a take on these more animal aspects of 2025’s wood snake. A complex fragrance that imagines a lush tropical environment, Kajal Lamar Noir opens with tropical fruit and saffron sweetness. The same rose from the original Kajal Lamar is found in the heart, but this time it is paired with a sultry violet, adding a touch of wood snake elegance. A leather accord gives a nod to animal skin and dark spices deepen the intrigue. Lamar Noir is a fragrance to wear when you want to evoke the wood snake’s gift for strategic thinking, ability to adapt to any environment, and transformative energy. Notes: bergamot, green apple, fruit notes, violets balsamic accord, vanilla, caramel, geranium, rose, floral notes, leather, oud, guaiac wood, sandalwood, cashmere, musk, amber, woody notes, moss.

  • Intriguing suggestions for the Year of the Wood Snake 2025. May all be blessed and happy. The House of Bo Bombón is created by the talented perfumer Honorine Blanc. The lychee and cognac notes sound interesting. Meo Fusciuni Viole Nere sounds like a mysterious and complex scent by Guiseppe Imprezzabile who is very creative. Kajal Lamar Noir has amazing bottle design typical for this beautiful brand. Tropical fruitiness with animalic leather accord and dark spices sound appealing to me. I would like to win Lamar Noir. From EU.

  • Once I discovered it is the year of a snake in 2025, I was intrigued by the fact, how many brands / products and events & visuals are going to be themed with it. Snake is one of my favorite animals, sparking curiosity yet being little bit scary. I think these aspects describe Kajal’s perfume; looking dark and mysterious with a sense of curiosity. Noir says it all.

Living in Finland. My choice is Kajal.

  • This is such a beautifully written post, and the idea of tying fragrances to the introspective, transformative energy of the Wood Snake year is absolutely fascinating!

Each fragrance here seems to embody a different facet of the Wood Snake personality, making them all so intriguing in their own way:

House of Bō Bombón immediately caught my attention for its unique mix of spicy pink pepper and sweet marshmallow. I love gourmand scents with a bit of fire, and the idea of a fragrance that fosters connection and warmth feels so aligned with the energy of 2025.

Meo Fusciuni Viole Nere is the one that speaks to me the most. The combination of powdery florals, smoky spice, and that introspective elegance perfectly reflects the wisdom and mystery of the Wood Snake. It feels like a scent that would be grounding yet full of depth—a perfect match for personal growth in 2025.

Kajal Lamar Noir sounds like pure magic! The tropical fruits mixed with leather and dark spices create such a lush, sensual vibe. I can almost imagine how it evokes the snake’s adaptability and strength while staying sophisticated and powerful.

The Wood Snake’s themes of transformation, patience, and growth are such a positive inspiration for the year ahead. If I’m lucky enough to win, I would definitely choose Viole Nere, as it feels closest to my own vision for 2025—calm, thoughtful, and deeply connected.

  • If like Rachel K.Ng says The Wood Snake Chinese New Year brings renewal and positive transformations I’m all for it.

“Starting on January 29th, and for the following 15 days, good luck comes from the following: postpone your haircut or you’ll cut your wealth for the coming year…”

    Lol
I know two of the brands Meo Fusciuni and Kajal, The House of Bo is new to me. I’d gladly wear all Bombón, Viole Nere and Lamar Noir.
Bonbón is a spicy gourmand with caramel layers.
Viole Nere is warm and woody fragrance with connections to the nature.
Kajal is a great brand, and if I have to guess based on what I learned from Rachel K.Ng Lamar Noir is cold weather daring yet alluring leather and sultry violet variation of Lamar , reimagined by Moe Khalaf and Patrick Müller to be more edgy. As usual the whole presentation is top notch.Homme I is staple of mine , I’m on my 5th bottle now , Homme II i also own and my choice would be Lamar Noir
    Thanks to all involved

  • These are all appealing fragrances with their various degrees of dark and or spicy notes. I’ve sampled both Viole Nere and Lamar Noir and while both would make for a fine addition to my collection I would be happy to win Viole Nere. I hope the year of the wood snake will be kinder than last year was. I’m in the USA

    Greetings everyone
Interesting cultural introduction with the Year of the Wood Snake , I like learning new things even if I’m not exactly a zodiac believer. What I do believe in, is rational actions like strategic thinking, analytic skills and patience.
I’m not aware of The House of Bo, the gourmand energy of Bonbon with cognac and pink pepper i find attractive.
Mauve florals and warm woodiness Viole Nere is complex and softly introspective at the same time.
Lamar Noir name Black (liquid) gold name is well suited for the Wood Snake Chinese New Year. Black gold looks edgy and stylish, giving jewelry a fresh and modern look that yellow gold can’t provide , exactly what Moe Khalaf and Patrick Müller did with Lamar Noir. The fragrance shows the levels of excellence Moe Khalaf is always striving for. I really like sweet fruity and leathery fragrance with an edge , and Lamar Noir checks all the boxes for me. The jewelry related name excites me even more. As usual the bottle look great.
Made by talented newcomer Patrick Müller Lamar Noir I’d enjoy the most

  • The Wood element represents creativity, resilience, and renewal–the wood snake, with its mystery, wisdom, intuition, the potential for rebirth; The snake, transformative—charming, intelligent, analytical, but cunning. and secretive as well. Those aspects are represented in these perfumes.

Honorine Blanc: represents harmony with deepening personal connections and friendships; a sweet and spicy gourmand
that is novel and lively with its standout notes of pink pepper and a fiery cognac.

Viole Nere represents the charm and elegant aspect of the Wood Snake; aloof and mysterious while, sophisticated as well. An opening of that layered with a powdery iris that in the dry down, matures with woody notes that gives the scent some depth.

Kajal Lamar Noir shows the transformative side of the wood snake–like shedding its skin–a form of rebirth, the aspect of personal growth. This scents introspective nature is personified as an animalic creation that focuses on a leather accord that is balanced by tropical fruit and saffron in the opening, rose and a sultry violet in the heart that in the dry down, darkens with an added spiciness paired with the oud and guaiac wood—Kajal Lamar Noir embraces its darker nature.

All three represent unique attributes of the Wood Snake, but Viole Nere’s personality is the one that draws me in.

  • Oh yes, lost of rich woods with just the right amount of bite to them – sure to get your venom pumping. I’m not the biggest gourmand lover, but with the right balance of spice they can work for me Bonbon sounds like it may be structured to suit me, and I do like the idea of the cognac and pink pepper in the blend. Viole Nere sounds quite enchanting. The transition from soft to smoky is something that always males me swoon when done correctly. I have yet to try any of Meo Fusciuni’s offerings, so it definitely has my attention. As far as Lamar Noir goes – I have already sampled it, and it is a beast of a take on the original Lamar. The dried fruit tones are rich and sticky, but the smoke and woods are the true star of the show. It is a DARK fragrance, and a contender for my personal fave from the house. That said, If I were to be chosen, I would go with Viole Nere. I’m just dying to get my hands on this house and it sounds so wonderfully interesting. Best of luck to all. I live in NC, USA.

  • The fragrances chosen for the Year of the Wood Snake in 2025 from ÇaFleureBon embody wisdom and transformation. Amouage Opus XIV – Royal Tobacco suggests sophistication; Aedes de Venustas Cierge de Lune, spiritual enlightenment; and Serge Lutens Chergui, comforting warmth. The Wood Snake year promises growth, strategic thinking, and philosophical change, with these scents reflecting those themes through their depth and complexity. I live in Poland, EU and I’d love to win KAJAL LAMAR Noir.

  • Ramses Perez says:

House Of Bo’s Bombón could perhaps be the easiest to wear out of the 3 as it is a gourmand at its core. Sure, a spicy gourmand but the notes are very agreeable and approachable. Meo Fusciuni Viole Nere goes on a woody and boozy route which may lead into a more masculine territory to some. Nevertheless with the powdery iris and the floral notes it could very much be worn by anyone who appreciates a woody and cognac inspired scent. Then comes Kajal Lamar Noir which is the darker of the bunch. Keeping the elements of the original but adding leather and oud to turn it into a mysterious and new persona. I’m glad I got my haircut today because I will be waiting my 15 days after the 29th to bring on the good luck. I’m going for Kajal Lamar Noir as it’s the more complex and enticing one. I’m located in the US.

  • I enjoyed this style of post and getting to learn about a few Chinese New Year traditions. I was instantly intrigued by Viole Nere with the “moody mauve florals” description. The touch of smokiness beneath the soft flowers sounds divine. I am in USA.

  • For the The Wood Snake Chinese New Year Rachel K.Ng observations are based on wisdom, patience, mystery , calmness and 3 pushing the boundaries fragrances.
Out of all the picks , I’m interested in The House of Bo Bombón because the unusual pairing of marshmallow, caramel, cognac and pink pepper
Meo Fusciuni Viole Nere because of the elegant profile and smoky aspects
Kajal Perfumes Lamar Noir because of the noir name , and i love the idea of adding warm leather and oud nuances to tropical fruits and rose . Lamar Noir was crafted from Moe Khalaf passionate belief in hard work, creativity and originality.
My preference would be Kajal Perfumes Lamar Noir
Thank you Rachel K.Ng for your The Wood Snake Chinese New Year , and for the generosity

  • I think we are going to need some introspection, renewal and positive transformations in this coming year: It looks to be a difficult one. The sweet friendliness of Bombon sounds cheerful and upbeat, and the complex tropical but darkly underscored Lamar Noir sounds mysterious and sexy, but the Viole Nere totally went onto my wish list because I love a good iris, but a smoky element added to that sounds like magic in a bottle! I live in the US and would select the Viole Nere if chosen.

  • Regis Monkton says:

I appreciated learning about the three fragrances mentioned here. I’m most intrigued by Meo Fusciuni Viole Nere because of: its notes, it seems to be a good combination of woods, florals, spice, and incense, and it seems animalic and smoky. I like when Rachel describes it by saying: “At first glance, the fragrance is soft and sophisticated, but with time it shows its intelligent, smoky structure with spice and frankincense spark. The wood snake has an aspect to their personality that is introspective and connected to nature, as Viole Nere is both complex and softly introspective.” I’d like to win Meo Fusciuni Viole Nere. I live in the USA.

    Hello Cafleurebon
Strategic thinking and analytical skills are part of my nature and I’m looking forward to a year of introspection, renewal and positive transformations, the year of the Wooden Snake.I like how Rachel K.Ng suggestions are very different from each other too.
The House of Bo Bombón is unusual gourmand with caramel, pink pepper and boozy feel from the cognac.
Meo Fusciuni Viole Nere smoky and sophisticated structure with incense and iris i find interesting.
Kajal Lamar Noir is exceptional, I can tell. Moe Khalaf has always been respectful and modest , looking to ignite the interest of fragrance enthusiasts and if Rachel K.Ng believes the juiciness of the exotic fruits , the rose and the leather are making Lamar Noir so addictive and intriguing , i can’t even imagine how good it really is. Setting the bar higher and higher is what Moe Khalaf always do, he did with Almaz , Lamar , ÄICAN and IV , and now with Lamar Noir he raised it even more. Kevin Mathys won Art and Olfaction Awards for Kajal IV , Patrick Müller could very well follow his footsteps and win another award this year for Lamar Noir, the fragrance i would like to win
I’m based in EU , thanks

  • That the Year of The Wood Snake is a year of introspection, renewal, and of positive transformations sounds like a good and hopeful thing to me. Of the perfumes Meo Fusciuni Viole Nere stood out to me most. It sounds really great and up my alley based on the notes and description of the iris etc as well as being smokey and spicy. If i won id love to win Viole Nere.

  • Captivating introduction about the Wood Snake Chinese New Year 2025 , and enthusiastic reviews of 3 beautiful fragrances , job well done to Rachel K.Ng
I’m all for transformative energy, analytic skills and renewal so I can’t help but to be impressed by Rachel diverse recommendations.
The House of Bo Bombón spicy-boozy and caramel layers are quite delicious.
Warm woodiness, incense and iris depth of Meo Fusciuni Viole Nere is both soft and softly introspective.
Moe Khalaf was able to achieve so much , no wonder Rachel K.Ng of the continuous process of renewal because i really like how he gave the hard task of making Lamar darker to Patrick Müller , very much a challenge for the young perfumer to wrap Lamar fragrance into a dark, mysterious, and opulent coat.I find Lamar Noir delightful for the dark start, caramel and passion fruit on one part , and the oud leather and rose on the other.
Lamar Noir is the one calling me
EU , thank you very much

  • We’re living in a crazy scary times right now, geopolitically the globe is full of tensions , and as scary as it gets. Doesn’t matter where you live, or you stand politically, we could all agree the time for building peaceful relationships has come. The Year of the Wood Snake i believe represents what the world needs right now – wisdom, patience and positive transformations.
Bombón by The House of Bo, composed by Honorine Blanc is a sensual fragrance. I wouldn’t call it a gourmand, there’s sweetness yes ,but lily of the valley is the most dominant note on my skin , with lychee and a bit of cognac in the background.
Viole Nere by Meo Fusciuni is for those who crave violet scents , the complexity is unmatched , it’s not a linear violet fragrance , but walk through Mirkwood from J.R.R. Tolkien legendarium with rose , jasmine, cassis and cognac. In my opinion Meo Fusciuni is a house made by a connoisseur , for connoisseurs only.I genuinely believe Giuseppe Imprezzabile almost encoded his soul into brand’s DNA.
Lamar Noir by Kajal Perfumes, composed by Patrick Müller
Kajal Perfumes development is absolutely remarkable and their future is bright with Moe Khalaf being the captain of the ship. In my opinion they do everything right, top presentations , original and sophisticated fragrances made with highest quality ingredients, performance is great too. By the way is it just me, or Moe Khalaf is only working with dedicated, and motivated positive people? Patrick Müller is also the same type of person that’s why they clicked so well together.
Lamar Noir was one of the best released for the last year period ! Imo Moe and Patrick were able to find a way to Ideally match the tropical fruits and caramel with the edgy oud and leather. To me the rose in Lamar Noir is significantly toned down, and not the same like in the original Lamar.
I’d like to win Kajal Lamar Noir
All profiles I already follow, @waltherp99bg . I also follow @eaudemoe , Moe Khalaf side project and designer Omar Ayoub , the absolute genius behind Kajal bottle design
    Thanks a lot

  • Oh I have Viole Nere and it’s so perfect it sent me in a path of collecting every Meo Fusciuni my bank account will allow, i’m up to eight! It’s amazing. The photorealistic childlike Violet note at the top and then this deeply complex mossy woodsy mature dry down, I just love the juxtaposition of it!!! That said since I do have it I think I should opt for Kajal Noir. I am located in the USA.

  • I have to say, never been that keen on snakes. Nevertheless, i hope the year of the wood snake is the best year yet! As for the fragrances, I’ve not smelled any of them. The notes of Viole Nere lead me to think Dior Homme Intense but with added an added smokiness and earthlings. Viole Nere, USA. Thanks!

  • I loved the correlation made of the Year of the Wood Snake being a mark of transformative energy, positive affirmation and new beginnings.
From the marshmallow and caramel spiced with pink pepper Bombón from the House of Oud, to mysterious Viole Nere Meo Fusciuni I find attractive …. however I could use some a kick-start to harness energy for life’s challenges , and to evoke the wood snake’s gift for strategic thinking and wisdom with the enigmatic Lamar Noir Kajal.
Basically I’m voting in favor upscale niche perfumery, Kajal, daring approaches and aesthetics , and people mindsets like Moe Khalaf and Patrick Müller. In Lamar Noir I like the fleshy fruits , oud , leather and the dance between the European appeal, Middle Eastern mystical essence and The Wood Snake transformative energy. Everything in Lamar Noir i find rich and inviting , the tropical fruits, leather accord, violet and dark spices.
Kajal is one of my favorite brands, Lamar I own my favorite and I’m thrilled about Lamar Noir , my choice today
    Thanks a bunch

  • I hope 2025 will be a genuine Year of the Wood Snake , like Rachel Ng let us know peaceful, and it would represent the patient energy , strategic thinking and positive transformations. I’m on a right track myself, but the world needs more of the diplomacy, and peaceful relationships now , we’re in the Year of the Wood Snake after all
I enjoy wearing smooth spicy gourmands all year round, not just in the Fall or Winter , The House of Bombon souds so good.
    Meo Fusciuni Viole Nere
As far as I remember all Meo Fusciuni fragrances are connected to distant countries the talented “aromatorio” visited during his lifespan.Shadows, violets, rose , cassis and cognac ,the quality ingredients combination is leading to a cryptic message you have to discover for yourself.
It’s interesting how no matter who the perfumer is , Kajal never disappoint its fans.Kevin Mathys won the Art and Olfaction Awards for Kajal IV , ÄICAN is fantastic made by EPS Fragrances team and now once again Patrick Müller did wonders with Lamar Noir.
Continuous process of renewal ? So nice , modern multidimensional fragrance, sweet, fruity , leathery , floral and flirtatious. Since Lamar is iconic fragrance personally I’m happy with Moe Khalaf and Patrick Müller decision to make Lamar Noir darker ,even edgy without destroying too much of Lamar DNA. Noir is a sophisticated fragrance with high compliment factor, can’t wait to see how added several darker nuances, particularly leather and oud changed the original DNA. Also the rose is still easy to detect, that’s a pleasant surprise .
Beautiful read by Rachel K.Ng , I’d prefer Kajal Lamar Noir
    Overly exciting giveaway, USA

  • Wonderful article for Chinese New Year 2025. The year of the wood snake.House of Bo ,Meo Fusciuni Viole Nere and Kajal Lamar Noir all 3 fragrances has great energy dark and or spicy. My choice would be Kajal Lamar Noir . Thank you for this chance USA

  • I don’t know much about Chinese New Year, but I like the fact that 2025 looks to be a year of introspection, renewal and positive transformations and rhat the harmonious energy of the Wood Snake will make 2025 an ideal year for strengthening bonds with loved ones. I think we all need that.

The House of Bo Bombón is an intriguing spicy take on a sweet gourmand fragrance where the pink pepper and cognac fire of the fragrance make an unusual and kinetic pairing with its sweet marshmallow and caramel layers.

I like how Meo Fusciuni Viole Nere is at first glance soft and sophisticated, but with time it shows its intelligent, smoky structure with spice and frankincense spark.

Amazing how Kajal Lamar Noir is a fragrance to wear when you want to evoke the wood snake’s gift for strategic thinking, ability to adapt to any environment, and transformative energy. Very intriguing!

Would love to try Meo Fusciuni Viole Nere.

So, no hair cutting, no floor sweeping and no new shoes for a good 2025 . If buying perfume doesn’t interfere in having a prosperous year, fine by me.
Kidding aside, all three scents have different profiles, but same warm, mysterious and passionate vibe. Spicy gourmand got my attention, since I tread carefully around gourmands, but a spicy kick makes it for an irresistible olfactory treat.
I’m in EU, and had a hard time deciding what I’d like to win (if luck decides to be on my side), but I guess it’s Viole nere – Meo Fusciuni’s fragrances have an otherworldly appeal to me.

I am looking forward to embrace the year of Wood snake with transformation, renewal, and spiritual growth. It is a dynamic year to learn from the past, moving forward with wisdom, awareness, transformation and compassion.
Three perfumes that in my opinion are quite unique and represent different characteristics of snake. Each perfume has its complexity and carries the mysterious nature that Snake has.
From the House of Bo, Bombón sounds to me a comfort and dreamy reflection of a ideal connection to our personal communications with the world around us. A beautiful genius combine of sweetness with marshmallows, refined notes of pepper enclose all together in a sensual cognac.
A beautiful sweet kinetic start to new year!
Meo Fusciuni Viole Nere is a scent that I would defently wear it! I love the opulent, full-bodied aura of this scent. Warm and sophisticated with a woody, smoky undertone, this character fits perfectly to charming, intelligent, creative and mysterious energy of Wood Snake.
On the other hand Kajal Lamar Noir could be the ideal perfume of the complexity nature of wood snake. A bright tropical with dark smooth woody leather sound to me the perfect environment for a growth and renewal snake. These notes evoke the thoughtful energy of the snake to discover hidden talents establish new habits. An intense and divine scent!
My choice will be Meo Fusciuni Viole Nere for its poetic elegance of mauve floral and warm woods giving a sophisticated earthy depth. My personal scent for this new year as I want to be more creative and patience with my goals.
Thanks for the draw and write up.

The year of the wood snake is anout wisdom, patience, and critical thinking. We need that now more than ever. Being able to self reflect is a skill all should learn, and I strive to do better this year. If I were to win, I would choose Kajal Lamar Noir. I’ve been intrigued by this fragrance since release and really, really want to bathe in it. Let’s all celebrate this Spring Festival with grace and compassion, a year full of learning and growth ahead. I live in Oregon.

  • Nothing jumped out at me regarding the Lamar Noir today. The Viole Nere captured me more with it’s “spike and frankincense spark”. I have no thoughts on the year of the wood snake. For the draw I choose Viole Nere. US

  • Love the year of the wood snake, won’t br buying new shoes anytime soon, Honorine blanc sounds interesting, the smell sounds abd no doubt smells fantastic,

  • I enjoyed learning about the year of snake, both the personal qualities of those born in that year but also the traditional practices to ensure a lucky year ahead.
All three of the fragrances were quite unique. Although I am not usually drawn to gourmand fragrances, The House of Bo Bombon, with its spicy take on the genre piqued my interest. Pink pepper and cognac seem like a unique pairing with the sweeter elements.
Viole Nere has been on my “must try” list for some time. I loved the description of how the fragrance transforms from initially opening as a soft floral to later exhibiting a spicy spark.
Kajal Lamar Noir seems like a fragrance that evolves in such an interesting way. The tropical opening that gives way to a leather accord sounds so intriguing.
I wish I could try all three, but since I must select one, I would want to win Viole Nere since it has been something I’ve wanted to try for so long. I live in the US.

  • Love the year of the wood snake, won’t br buying new shoes anytime soon, Honorine blanc Bo Bombon sounds interesting, the smell sounds and no doubt smells fantastic, Kajal Lamar Noir fragrance sounds intriguing as well, the ruggedness balanced out by the sweetness is excellent, the leather, the vanilla and bergamot all sound great, but the fragrance that intrigues me the most is Viole Nere by Meo Fusciuni, the sweet and seductive flowery greatness sounds interesting and striking, would be perfect for the oncoming lunar new year
If i win i’d like to have Meo Fusciuni Viole Nere

  • this review beautifully captures the essence of Kajal Lamar Noir and its connection to the Wood Snake’s symbolism in the Chinese zodiac.
I loved the comparison between a snake that sheds its skin and Lamar, that in 2025 evolved in order to become darker and deeper.
The imagery of a lush tropical environment paired with the sultry elegance of rose and violet creates a vivid olfactory narrative. I love how the leather and dark spices nod to the animalistic and transformative nature of the Wood Snake.
i tried to win Lamar Noir in the past giveaway, but unlucky I didn’t, so I retry.
    cheers from Italy.

  • Unlike many Western countries, where snakes are associated with evil and temptation, in China, they are simultaneously associated with harvest, procreation, spirituality,… . More Complex like the perfumes that Rachel proposes. House of Bō’ Bombón by Honorine Blanc is a spicy and energetic twist to the sweet gourmand style. Meo/Guiseppe in Viole Nere brings the complexity and introspection with soft iris and violet that darkens with spice and smoky frankincense. Kajal Lamar Noir turns the woody snake into a fleshy one: fruity and floral and then leathery and resinous into an amazing development. What a new year with these 3 gems: I live in Spain and I would like to win Kajal Lamar Noir by perfumer Patrick Muller. As I was born in 65, I am Woody Snake : elegant and charming 😉 just joking! but with any of these 3 scents I would be.

  • My husband was born in the year of the snake, while I am allegedly a rat, haha. As for the three fragrances reviewed in this article, I love Honorine Blanc’s crystal topper and its inclusion of lychee, my favorite fruit. Viole Nere’s blend of warm, spicy notes juxtaposed with cooler florals also sounds most intriguing. Lamar Noir’s sweet, oudy + leathery profile sounds right up my alley as well! Should I win, I would love to receive Kajal Lamar Noir. Ironically, my husband surprised me with a bottle of Kajal’s Dahab on Saturday and we both absolutely love it! What a treat it would be to have a second Kajal fragrance to add to our collection. From the USA. Thanks for this generous draw.

  • Bo Bombom is a fragrance that captures the essence of tropical bliss and playful sophistication. With a sweet, creamy heart of caramel and vanilla, it blends seamlessly with fruity top notes of juicy mandarin and exotic coconut. The result is a scent that’s warm, inviting, and slightly gourmand, evoking sunny beach days and carefree moments. Its playful yet elegant composition makes it perfect for someone who enjoys a scent that’s both sweet and fresh, with a touch of luxury. Greece EU

  • Another year ended – the year of the Dragon , and the year of Wood Snake is here . I enjoyed learning about what the year is known for , and some unique Chinese traditional practices i was not aware of like for example postpone your haircut or you’ll cut your wealth for the coming year.
    ■ The House of Bo Bombón novelty gourmand combining marshmallow, pink pepper and cognac
    ■ Meo Fusciuni Viole Nere made by high-quality materials artistic fragrance , long lasting warm woody , smoky and floral tones
    ■ Kajal Perfumes Lamar Noir darker and seductive version on Lamar. I find impressive how Rachel K.Ng was able to merge elegance and darkness , The Wood Snake Chinese New Year, ethics and artistry too in her review. My favorite Kajal Dahab and Lamar Noir share the fruity part the two are so very different, the playful and flamboyant Dahab and the edgy and leathery Lamar Noir. No matter the scent profile the two share the sense of exclusivity.
Kajal Perfumes Lamar Noir is my choice
Thanks for Rachel K.Ng quick introduction to Wood Snake Year , the reviews of course and the giveaway

  • I’ve been to Hong Kong twice as a kid , and I so want to visit once again. I’m eager to participate in the lunar New Year of the Wooden Snake with warm growth, renewal, wisdom and patience.
I have no experience with The House of Bo and Meo Fusciuni, Bombón is interesting because of the friendly resolutions, cognac, spices and caramel, Viole Nere because of the smoky structure, woody accords and connected to the nature personality.
Kajal fragrances i know , Patrick Müller fragrance and Rachel K.Ng immediately transported me to a lunar New Year festival in Hong Kong and I’m now beyond curious about Lamar Noir and the way it evolves. The contrast between the rose , delicious fruits and caramel , and leather with oud , day and night, innocence and temptation is to die for.I believe Patrick Müller has carefully chosen every single raw material , so the fragrance can tell a different and more unique Lamar story.
I know I’d feel special and desired wearing my choice Lamar Noir, I just do
    Thank you, and fingers crossed

Remarkably enjoyable article , bravo to Rachel K.Ng
I learned about a few Chinese customs about wealth and good luck , how the year of wood snake is known for patience , wisdom and transformative energy and also about 3 exceptional fragrances like The House of Bo Bombón, Meo Fusciuni Viole Nere and Kajal Lamar Noir.
I guess Bombón is harmonious gourmand pairing pink pepper, cognac, marshmallow and caramel.
Viole Nere is mysterious, warm woody and smoky fragrance with powdery iris.
    About Lamar Noir…
A leather accord gives a nod to animal skin and dark spices deepen the intrigue. Lamar Noir is a fragrance to wear when you want to evoke the wood snake’s gift for strategic thinking, ability to adapt to any environment, and transformative energy – Rachel K.Ng
So maybe full grain leather and caramel in addition to the core of Lamar …. Then throw in that quality oud and I just know this is heavenly. I need Lamar Noir like now lol. Little while back i bought Lamar from the house and it is slowly becoming my most worn fragrance , with Noir darker notes I’m not looking to replace it but for more edgy perspective. Rachel K.Ng made me think of how leather side and the oud are giving Lamar Noir a more dark and spicy mysterious demeanor , and I feel tempted now . Patrick Müller and Moe Khalaf made the right decision not to alter the core of the original , I own Lamar and I do want to win the new Noir manifestation.
    Appreciate the chance – EU

  • I almost wish I hadn’t read about the new year’s traditions because I booked a haircut within 15 days of the lunar new year, oops! I enjoyed reading about the perfumes though. House of Bo’s Bonbon’s cognac feature sounds nice, I like the uptick in cognac notes I’ve been seeing around recently. Viole Nere’s moody mauve aura intrigues me, and Meo Fusciuni’s overall presentation of his entire fragrance line has drawn me in. Viole Nere’s introspective dark floral sounds like exactly the sort of thing I’d like to reach for in these last months before spring returns. I noticed Kajal Noir features violet too, but with a totally different composition and approach.

If I had the good fortune to win I’d select Meo Fusciuni Viole Nere to win. I’m in the US, thank you for the draw and wishing everyone a wonderful new year.

  • redwheelbarrow says:

These sound so interesting! The marshmallow + pepper combination in Bombon sounds really interesting! I have also had my eye on Lamar Noir and definitely need to sample this one. Viole Nere sounds so complex starting soft and ending smoky. These all really sound like they live up to the Year of the Wood Snake! Thanks for the draw. From the US.

  • I would like to win Lamar Noir Kajal because I have never tried a perfume from this brand but I am intrigued by its description: “Kajal Lamar Noir opens with tropical fruit and saffron sweetness. The same rose from the original Kajal Lamar is found in the heart, but this time it is paired with a sultry violet,…” I live in France, EU.

“Often one finds finds one’s destiny just where one hides to avoid it”

The famous Chinese proverb matches well with Rachel K.Ng introduction , and the tone of the article. Let’s hope we’ll all find our destiny in the year of the Wood Snake with more wisdom, patience and positive transformations.
I do believe I’d enjoy all Bombón, Viole Nere and Lamar Noir. Bonbón because of the unusual pairing of caramel and marshmallow with pink pepper and boozy layers. Viole Nere because i like incense and iris. Lamar Noir sounds so deep and enigmatic, almost eternal . My takeaway about Lamar Noir from Rachel K.Ng is the overall sense of refinery and heritage .
In light of Rachel K.Ng article I have no doubts Lamar Noir is stunning and I’d love to win a bottle

It was so interesting learning about the Year of the Wooden Snake , and what it represents. I’m all for wisdom , patience and mystery. The extra details of traditional practices for lucky 2025 made me smile actually 🙂

” … and don’t buy new shoes until after 15 days or you might bring extra stress into 2025″ .

    – The House of Bo Bombón
From the brand i only have experience with Espiritu I own a bottle. Bombón i like because of the different approach to the gourmand category, more spicy , more energetic and fun
    – Meo Fusciuni Viole Nere charisma is appealing to me. Some light , but mostly darker notes and tones are effectively used by the aromatorio , at the same time I find the fragrance not gloomy , but tranquil . The violet , rose , and aged cognac I’m looking for the most .
    – Kajal Perfumes Lamar Noir
I like the beautiful color scheme of the bottle, oud and leather , delicious yet non-sticky grown-up profile with the tropical fruits , rose and caramel Lamar Noir sense of refinery is tickling my fancy even more. There’s a sense of balance between classic and modern, formal and casual. Sophisticated fragrance , and a future classic that captured my attention thanks to Rachel.
Kajal Homme II , IV and Dahab are in my possession , and to win Lamar Noir would be great
Thank you Rachel K.Ng, Patrick Müller, Moe Khalaf , Steven , Kajal, Michelyn , Meo Fusciuni too.

Coming from someone who’s used to designer fragrances and more simplistic reviews I’ll have to admit my head started spinning by Rachel K.Ng Wood Snake Chinese New Year read .
The serpentine patience is a virtue i don’t possess, but I’m keen to contribute in a world of warm growth, stability and creativity.
I like the harmonious energy of Bombón from the House of Bo, spicy take on a sweet gourmand with cognac and pink pepper.
Viole Nere from Meo Fusciuni is sophisticated and moody warm woody fragrance with incense.
Patrick Müller and Rachel K.Ng were able to trick my imagination into thinking of lush tropical environments, violets , leather jackets and luxury desserts , where the sweetness and boldness are perfectly dosed and compounded to alluring rose.
By all means YES to the transformative energy of Kajal Lamar Noir , eye-opening introduction, zealous review and one spectacular black bottle fragrance I’ll be happy to win.
Warm thanks to Rachel K.Ng , Cafleurebon and Kajal Perfumes . EU

  • Lovely review Rachel. I’m most drawn to Meo Fusciuni’s Viole Nere for its complexity and soft introspection that connects it to the wood snake’s nature. The range of soft purples (violet, iris and cassis) combined with the wood notes and feminine florals sounds elegant. MD, USA.

I loved reading Rachel’s intro to the Lunar New Year 2025 , the year of the Wooden Snake. The intro focused on the Chinese new Year which rotates and focuses on a different animal each year that represents different things.
“The snake’s calm ability to adapt to new environments and challenges speaks to serpentine patience and transformative energy.”
Lunar New Year 2025 will be a good year for everyone to focus on building relationships, positive transformations, diplomacy, and family unity. I loved learning more about The Lunar New Year 2025 starting on January 29nd , and the unique practices for good luck.
Rachel picked amazing fragrances to bring in the Lunar New Year. Bombón is delicious spicy gourmand paired with cognac and spices, Viole Nere smoky and woody structure is more introspective and connected to the nature , and Lamar Noir is a marvelous fragrance , was so not expecting such level of complexity. Mouthwatering tropical fruits with sensual rose. Personality I’m more than happy to know that Moe Khalaf and Patrick Müller didn’t change the DNA way too much , dark opulence mixed with leather on top of my beloved Lamar? I’m so captivated by Rachel K. Ng thoughts on Lamar Noir.

Lovely article! What appeals to me about Rachel’s introduction is learning that the strategic thinking and analytical approach, together with introspection, renewal and positive transformations are typical for the year of the wooden snake , something we could all use a little more of in this new year. What appeals to me about Rachel’s essay is learning that The House of Bo Bombón features the clash as well as the balance and coexistence between mutual understanding, empathy, pink pepper and cognac, and also caramel layers.
The warm wood ,incense and connections to the nature are all showing Meo Fusciuni Viole Nere complex nature.
If I were to win I would definitely want to try Lamar Noir.
Because of Redolessence Cafleurebon reviews and recommendations i ordered Kajal ÄICAN , I also own DAHAB and thanks to Rachel K. Ng I’m intrigued once again. She revealed the similarities and differences between Lamar and Lamar Noir , and i believe the two are not redundant by any means . Lamar Noir is its own unique entity and the fragrance Patrick Müller created is for those who want to elevate their fruity-leather game , and like Rachel said also adding a touch of wood snake elegance.

Oh Rachel! Thank you so much for giving us an understanding of what the Lunar Year is all about and explaining some of the traditions. The Year of the Wooden Snake has arrived just in time. Some calm energy , wisdom, patience and kindness is exactly what we need to bring some balance back to the world.
Your essay uplifted my mood with all the traditional practices , especially the one to not sweep the floor for 15 days or we could accidentally sweep out the good luck.
The House of Bo Bombón review It made me smile and feel hungry all at the same time with the caramel-marshmallow pairing with cognac and friendships flourishing.
Meo Fusciuni Viole Nere feels tranquil and well suited for connected to the nature introverts.
The house of Kajal is also famous for pristine quality fragrances , and without a doubt it wasn’t easy for Patrick Müller to meet Moe Khalaf requirements. Everything in Lamar Noir is on its own place, juicier fruits fruit , caramel , the oud, sultry violet, the leather.
I’m ready for a Hong Kong trip , transformative energy and I’m ready for Lamar Noir , such fragrances is everything i need at the moment.
    Thanks a million

  • I find the article very informative and i also appreciate learning more about the Lunar New Year 2025 starting with Rachel’s intro on Asian tradition and culture , the different meanings of the Year of The Wooden Snake and the 3 reviews. Well structured two way fragrance episode by Rachel K. Ng, I like the more thoughtful overall experience I just had.
I am a gourmand , tropical and leather fragrances lover and The House of Bo Bombón and Kajal Lamar Noir appealed to me the most.
I learned about the kinetic pairing of caramel, cognac and pink pepper in Bombón and Lamar Noir distinct and complex scent , starting with leather, violet and going forward with enticing aromas like rose and delicious fruits. My personal final flourish is the harmony Patrick Müller was able to achieve between between tasty , dark and seductive elements.

  • I have always been interested in astrology , surrounded by the Western , Middle Eastern and African horoscopes at all times , I craved to reach further and learn more and that was how, as a teenager in times of no internet I found out about the Chinese Zodiac and that opened brand new dimensions for me.
Since I have plans for significant life changes coming up, I am happy to know the Year of the Wooden Snake is going to be a time of wisdom , patience , mystery and building peaceful new relationships, strengthening family ties and friendships , with wood snake making us trust our inner instincts for renewal. Very grateful to Rachel for the intro. She has managed to fit the characters of the three perfume picks into the energetic flow of the New Lunar Year. Love all of the choices though Lamar Noir has attracted me the most with its character-building quality based on the dychotomy of the lush tropical environment with different delicious fruits , sultry violet , leather and a touch of wood snake elegance.
Winning Lamar Noir would be a dream come true , the brand means a world to me , since in a way I could say I’m happily married with the help of Kajal and Jihan ❤ I met my loving husband on Boyz II Men concert , the famous r’n’b and soul group while wearing Jihan

  • Happy Lunar New Year to everyone! I like that you started this list by telling us a bit about the Year of the Wooden Snake — especially with Rachel’s personal experience with the culture and traditional practices for good luck in 2025.
All three listed perfumes are good choices, all sophisticated and original but Kajal Lamar Noir stood out to me .
There are so many good fruity and leather fragrances on the market right now, but creating not just good but also unique fragrance featuring the two is something major. It’s remarkable that Patrick Müller with Lamar Noir found the balance between wearability and originality. Like everything in real life some components of Lamar Noir are gentle like the fruits , violet and the rose , some delicious like the caramel , chocolate , others like the leather and the oud i find adventurous. The balance between the sweetness , and the leather I’m looking for the most.

  • I’m really looking forward for the wood snake energy creeping in! As a water monkey, I admire and almost envy everything that the snake sign is and has, since my own sign is pretty much the complete opposite. So I would very much like to channel this intellectual, calculated, wise energy of the snake into my own playfulness and love for fun.
I thought Rachel’s three choices to represent this sign were very varied and even quite unexpected: a spicy, boozy gourmand, a mysterious dark floral and a rose wrapped in leather, with woody and tropical elements alao closeby.
I would be happy to win either Viole Nere or Lamar Noir, if I had the chance.

  • Thanks for the great writeup !
Per Rachel, a commitment to wisdom, balance, patience and slow renewal sounds like a great way to start off the year. I’d like to visit Hong Kong one day and to experience the lunar New Year celebrations and festivals myself.

Bombón is high-end gourmand fragrance, more spicy, even boozy.
Viole Nere is wrapped in warm woodiness fragrances with calming incense and powdery iris.

  • I love that the year of the wood snake signifies wisdom, patience, and mystery. Bombon by The House of Bo sounds quite delicious with its notes of cognac, marshmallow, and caramel. I love Rachel’s suggestion to spray this fragrance to foster connection in the year of the wood snake. I have tried Viole Nere and it’s a beautiful fragrance. I love how Rachel described the florals as “moody mauve”- they most definitely are. Although I haven’t tried Lamar Noir, I love that it’s inspired by a lush tropical environment. It does sound like a great fragrance to wear for strategic thinking.

I would love to be considered for Viole Nere!

House of Bō Bombón sounds like the perfect spicy-sweet gourmand to bring people together love the idea of pink pepper and cognac mingling with marshmallow and caramel. It feels warm and inviting, just like the connections we’re supposed to nurture this year.

Meo Fusciuni Viole Nere is the one that really speaks to me. That mix of powdery iris, smoky frankincense, and soft woods feels so elegant and mysterious—totally embodying the introspective, wise energy of the Wood Snake. It’s sophisticated but with a hidden depth, which I love.

Kajal Lamar Noir sounds like a tropical adventure with a dark, animalic twist. The leather and violet combo feels so intriguing, and I can totally see it representing the snake’s transformative energy. It’s bold and strategic, just like the Wood Snake’s vibe.

  • I know that in traditional Chinese culture the zodiac calendar, the lunar New Year and good luck customs are very important, the article furthered my knowledge greatly , thanks Rachel Ng . What appeals to me in the article is how genuinely amazed Rachel is by the Chinese culture and the three fragrance recommendations , she enjoyed every single moment.
I need to sample The House of Bo , Bombón sounds so good. It’s boozy and spicy with different dessert ideas .
Meo Fusciuni brand i always associate with Asia. With Viole Nere I’ll able to hear the song of the forest .
Rachel K Ng words made me think how often , at least lately new editions of already popular fragrances have little to nothing in common in comparison to the original version. I pleased to know Moe Khalaf made Lamar Noir more edgy and darker, yet Lamar DNA is here to stay . Speaking of Lamar DNA, still fruity and tropical, but woody and leathery , the whole combination is a match made in Heaven. Little black “snake elegance” dress category fragrance if you ask me.

  • A lot of rules to have a good new year. I began my perfume love with gourmands, but have now moved to woods, so these seem wonderful. The Kajal fragrance intrigues me with the tropical lushness. If I’m the lucky winner, I’d choose the Viole Nere with that powdery Iris. Thanks for the chance. USA.
