Xerjoff Tony Iommi Deified Review (2024) + Darker Riff Giveaway

Xerjoff Tony Iommi Deified

The new Xerjoff Tony Iommi Deified is the second collaboration with the brand’s founder, owner and creative director Sergio Momo and his friend British-Italian guitarist Tony Iommi, who co-founded the English heavy metal band Black Sabbath, and was the band’s guitarist, leader and primary composer and sole continuous member for nearly five decades. Iommi was ranked number 25 in Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.” Xerjoff Tony Iommi Deified is new for 2024 and follows Tony Iommi Monkey Special, which was launched in 2021.

From Xerjoff’s Website: “Working with Sergio on a perfume is the same way I work on writing riffs – I live with an idea and then go back to it and try to improve it over time, until I’m happy with it.” – Tony Iommi

Tony Iommi Deified transforms the original composition by introducing darker and more mysterious elements! Saffron enriches the blend with its exotic spicy flavor while a leather accord in the base establishes a layer of mystery. Cinnamon is interwoven in the mix for a spicy element that is as addictive as it is beguiling. Green apple adds a tart and slightly bright introduction before the earthy dry down that gives the wearer hours of longevity on skin.”-Steven Gavrielatos, Video Contributor

Top: Saffron, Cinnamon, Apple; Heart: Rose, Leather; Base: Papyrus, Patchouli, Moss, Musk

Thank you guys for opportunity to win this amazing giveaway! Love Xerjoff, love your site, love your channel…
    Good luck everyone.

  • I didn’t think the first Tommy Iommi collab could be topped but this sounds like a complete knockout, especially for winter. Steven’s comparison to Alexandria II in the review is exciting as well, which is one of my favorite Xerjoff scents. Would love to smell this soon, and thank you for the giveaway opportunity 🙂

  • This is so inspirational to have Tony Collaboration yet again. The description by Steven and His review intrigued me so much I feel compelled to the fragrance and can not wait to put my Nose to this yet classic masterpiece!

  • As a music producer, I got into fragrances because I parallel the composition of notes in fragrances to music. You add layers until it becomes whole, while being able to still pick out the individual notes, so I could appreciate Tony speaking about working on riffs and improving on them. I appreciate Steven speaking on it being a more dressed up version while still being unique.

I was wondering how this was different from the original. Thank you for the opportunity!!!

  • AromaDulce73 says:

Cinnamon, green apple & patchouli sounds like interesting notes in a fragrance. I’ve heard of Tony & Black Sabbath but don’t really know how he got into perfumery.

Steven mentions this is a flanker, I never smelled the original, Monkey Special, but this one seems to be darker. I’m a fan of spicy fragrances. Not a huge fan of rose but this sounds like it can make me appreciate this note.

Steven mentions this is not a hot weather fragrance but in California I can probably get away with it in the evening/night time. 12 hour longevity, I’m in!

  • Jose Gonzalez says:

Ive been recently getting into xerjoff and coincidently just finished watching a review on the monkey special which by the description of the reviewer, sounds incredible, so I have high hopes for this one!

  • I love how Steven describes Iommi Deified as dark, mysterious, and earthy – those are all qualities I love and in a perfume, and excited to see Xerjoff’s take! I’m in MN, USA and a Redolessence subscriber.

  • David Furman says:

Been wanting the tommy iommi… especially if this is the same one that’s been around for a few years. I’ve heard numerous YouTubers rave about it and the bottle design is top notch. This sounds like a light and rich scent that screams sophistication but didn’t hold back on intensity. Steve brought to light as always that this is a beautiful offering and something to be sought after. Would love to have it, from Jacksonville NC.

  • Ramses Perez says:

I own the original and I’m very ecstatic to find out what this one is like. Steven mentioned the new version takes away a bit of the sweetness (which to my nose the original one isn’t) and a bit earthy. I still see the saffron here and the cinnamon as well. The darker earthy undercurrents does give me a more fall/winter vibe so I’m very interested to try it. I see this Tony Iommi line getting a few more flankers as they are very popular and the bottle style is still a dark/leathery sort of decor. I’m not surprised Steven mentioned it lasts about 10 hours in the true style of any Xerjoff fragrance. Great review and new release! Cheers from the USA.

  • AleksCipri says:

Very exciting new release! I like the original a lot. Saffron, cinnamon, and leather are my kind of notes so this one is a must try for me. It’s interesting that Steven mentions Alexandria II resemblance that he briefly notices…this also is a plus as I own that one and love it as well. Looking forward to sampling this one. Cheers from Illinois, US.

  • Great information. I love Tony Iommi Monkey Special, but would love something even darker and less sweet. Definitely curious in Tony Iommi Deified after this review. Thanks

  • This sounds so cool and super interesting to try out. I’m very happy they made a darker Flanker than the original.
Sounds like the perfect winter scent

  • odudu@outlook.com says:

Steven’s reviews are always spot on. His detailed description gives one a very good idea of the type of scent to expected. I have smelled a sampled of Diefied and I agree with his take in this review. I really enjoyed the sample and hope I can win this full bottle!

  • I’ve been following Steven’s channel for years now, and his reviews never fail to impress me. His recent review of Xerjoff Tony Iommi Deified was both captivating and insightful. Steven has a unique way of describing scents that truly brings them to life, and his passion for fragrance is evident in every word. I particularly enjoyed how he highlighted the darker and more mysterious elements of the perfume, such as the intriguing leather accord and the spicy touch of cinnamon. His ability to convey the experience of wearing this fragrance makes me trust his opinions wholeheartedly. Thank you, Steven, for your detailed and enthusiastic review—I can’t wait to try Iommi Deified myself!

  • The first collaborative effort between Xerjoff and Iommi resulted in what I think is a landmark fragrance for the brand. It’s wonderfully juicy and seductive, with hit of booze and wafts of ashy tobacco. Given Iommi’s fashion throughout the decades, I was a bit shocked it was not a leather-focused fragrance. Alas, it is no surprise they went that direction with their next composition. I’m thrilled to read that they have also added a hefty dose of cinnamon and saffron along with the leather. Steven spoke at length of it’s dark and expressive nature, heralding it’s unique profile and refined aesthetic. It sounds really amazing and I would be honored to add it to my collection. Meanwhile, I will be hunting down a sample. Best of luck to everyone. I live in NC, USA.

  • Edher Reinbold says:

He helps me find my style of colognes and fragrances with his reviews, plus it’s great to see him review them before I decide on my next purchase. I can’t wait to smell this new fragance ^^

  • Javier Zavala says:

I love Xeroj fragrances, after your review I’m very intrigued about this one, good review. I love the colognes that have azafrán (saffron) on it.

  • Glad to hear about another non-sweet scent and I’m rather intrigued by the darkness and ‘not for faint of heart’ness of this fragrance! As always, a pleasure to hear Steven’s breakdown on the fragrance!

  • Great job with the video you always put out great contents. This fragrance would be interesting to try. Never won anything before, maybe this will be my 1st time lol. Thank you sir keep doing what you do .

  • Ellen Oliver says:

I love Steven’s videos because they are direct and to the point . Very descriptive and detailed!

  • Bryan Martin says:

Looking for a new fall/winter scent and the breakdown of the notes by Redolessence leads me to believe this might be it. The rose, apple, cinnamon, and leather have definitely piqued my interest! I hope I win! Thank you CaFleureBon!

  • realtyisme says:

I truly enjoyed Steven’s in-depth and thorough review. Whenever I am considering a new fragrance, I find it very easy to watch his reviews. They are systematic and cover all bases. This one is no different. My wife, adult son, and I are all fans of Monkey Special. I’m stoked about this darker and more mysterious version. It appears Tony Iommi is a master of arranging fragrant notes, as well as, musical notes. Can’t wait to get my nose on this one! 🙂

  • Froaderick says:

The original Monkey Special is soooo perfect for rock gigs, whether I’m jamming or hitting up a concert! The way Steven describes this as a darker, heavier scent brings to mind riffs from Metallica’s earlier days. A clear nod to the iconic sounds Ionmi laid down with Black Sabbath, somehow with even more depth. Gotta love something that’s not for the faint of heart or everybody, as Steven said, but isn’t trying to be that at all. Rock on from Ohio!

  • I don’t know a lot of fragrances with papyrus so that’s definitely interesting. Green Apples however is interesting when you mention leather and saffron. It seems like they took it in the direction of the Exclusifs of PDM where it’s a similar DNA minus the sweetness, more spices and darker notes. The regular Iommi would probably be more mass appealing given its sweeter, boozier, and more playful nature. Nevertheless I have no doubts that this one will rock as hard as the original. It’s got Iommi’s name on it after all!

  • FragheadS says:

Great review! I really liked the original so I’m excited to try this one. Love saffron and leather and cinnamon…so this is likely my kind of fragrance!
It also sounds a bit like the band Dark, Mysterious and Loud. Excited to try this.

  • Fragrance collector says:

Another informative review by Steven. This combo of notes sounds divine and I love the way Steven describes the saffron cinnamon combo and how this fragrance is unique while being reminiscent of other fragrances. This really sounds like an amazing cool weather scent. Thank you for the draw.

  • scentense95 says:

Really intriguing sounding fragrance! Thanks for a great review you always enlighten me to the broader scopes of the world of fragrance!
The description of the notes is quite interesting and would like to try it I’m sure I’d love it .

  • My guy Steven, always enjoy his reviews, very informative as usual. I absolutely love gourmands and a mature, charismatic gourmand especially. Cinnamon, leather, papyrus and moss. yes and yes… I am going to love it.

  • LavenderJuliette says:

Just saw Steven’s review of Xerjoff iommi Deified , and was pleasantly surprised as I have seen very few reviews of this fragrance. I’m a fan of Tommy’s guitar work and find it interesting that Xerjoff paired with him to create a scent. I anticipate a somewhat mysterious scent from this and being it is coming from Xerjoff’s known quality, I’m sure it will be captivating. Thank you to Steven at Redolessence for always keeping us updated on new fragrances.

  • autumnblue9 says:

I have smelled Alexandria II previously and loved the opening of it. Steven’s comparison to it was really interesting. Apple and cinnamon notes in the opening sound really good. I definitely want to get my nose on this!

  • After watching steven’s review I think Xerjoff Tony Iommi Defied comes across as a gourmand-oriental creation in which Papyrus and saffron play a major role. One can also notice cinnamon in between. Overall very intrigued by this release. I am in US.

  • Prominent notes of papyrus, leather and cinnamon. The darker undertones make it even more mysterious. The bottle is gorgeous as well. Loved the review realy interested to get a bottle myself!

  • afternoir says:

After watching the video I want this fragrance even more.I love Xerjoff and having a great guitarists name associated with one of them is fantastic as I also grew up and love Black Sabbath as well. Excited as Steven mentions it as a dark and earthy fragrance which I love in a perfume.

  • Zestybloom says:

This sounds like a really interesting fragrance. Steven always does a good job of helping us get a feel for each fragrance he reviews. I hope to try it soon.
Patchouli and Papyrus really gets the essence of the Black Sabbath band and my heart!!

  • mrfragrance says:

I can’t wait to try this one. I just bought the original today coincidentally.

  • I think compared to the monkey special, this fragrance goes in a different route. Its dark and has a middle eastern touch to it due to the notes. Definitely an awesome winter time fragrance for sure.

  • Odor Aeternitatis says:

This sounds like a really interesting fragrance. Steven always does a good job of helping us get a feel for each fragrance he reviews. I hope to try it soon. Cinnamon and leather are 2 of my fav notes and this fragrance has both.

  • I’m the biggest Black Sabbath fan and a fragrance enthusiast! Would love to have this in my collection. i like how its dark, mysterious and expressive it is.

  • fragrancegorlie says:

Very articulate description by Steven. I can imagine how it smells and I think wearing this cologne during colder months would be amazing. Awesome review Steven. As always, its a pleasure to hear Steven’s breakdown of the fragrance.

  • Swetrosysillage says:

Absolutely loved Steven’s thoughts on this fragrance. Like him, I am so in love with the house of Xerjoff! The notes in Tony Iommi Deified by Xerjoff are so interesting! I love darker fragrances and looking at the notes (Cinnamon, Apple, Rose,Papyrus, Patchouli…) I am just super excited to try it!

  • What I love about Steven’s review is that he delved deep into how the notes play together. He also mentioned how it performed on his skin, which is something that not every reviewer talks about.
And I also enjoyed that he thoroughly shows the packaging to give us the full experience of the gorgeous presentation of this bottle.

I’m a huge fan of Leather, Patchouli notes and hearing Steven talk about that makes me excited for this Xerjoff offering. The notes in this sound very interesting. Thanks for the opportunity.

  • sourbergamot says:

Just like Black Sabbath, this fragrance blazes its own trail although using ingredients that most people know and love. I’m a big patchouli lover and mixing that note with papyrus is very intriguing. Being a Xerjoff you know the quality of this fragrance is always top notch. Thank you Xerjoff, twisted lily, cafleurebon and Steven for the opportunity to win this.

Definitely enjoyed Steven’s review. I am also a Black Sabbath fan, not to mention, a huge fan of Xerjoff fragrances, so this one has peaked my interest, and would love to be blessed, with a bottle!

  • I always love how Steven makes fragrance relatable. I can watch a video with confidence and know that he accurately describes a fragrance and can purchase a fragrance based on how informative he is. Deified has such an interesting mix of notes – also much different from what I would expect – but seems right up my alley.

  • MysticalArugula says:

Great descriptive review as always..sounds like my type of fragrance..great combination of notes. Really excited to try this! This new Xerjoff is not one dimensional , there’s gourmand elements , woody earthy element, patchouli , and sensuality coming from the leather. Posh fragrance at its best. I need such perfumes in my collection.

  • Maidenhead says:

Another great in-depth review from Steven. I had a chance to smell this from a sample and got quite a similar impression on this new Xerjoff. Personally I really love the green apple and cinnamon opening of this. Totally agree that this would wear nicely in any seasons except high heat situation.

So unique that this fragrance goes in all these directions. The layers of darkness, mystery and spiciness sound so intriguing! Interested in how the Papyrus plays in the composition. Hope to try this out from the giveaway! I’m from the USA.

  • oudmymood says:

Steven always goes into so much detail with every review, and Deified is no exception. I am so excited he reviewed this one! I have been curious about it and i have come to trust Stevens opinion on fragrances over the years. My attention was captured by him mentioning darker mysterious undertones in this fragrance. Thanks for the review and the draw!

  • muskyrose says:

Sounds amazing for the cooler months. Semi gourmand fragrance. Simple but sounds unique. i’m fascinated by the notes in this perfume especially rose and leather,

  • chocoshelo says:

I love how Steven describes the notes.. I’m a fan of complexity and balance. Green apple. Oh, and how he describes the cinnamon note’s sweetness being balanced out by earthly accords. This sounds incredibly lovely.

  • Xerjoff Tony Iommi Deified is such a great name! As a long time fan of Black Sabbath, I love it! And, after Steven’s review, I think I’d love the scent as well. His caveat about the possibility of the scent being too cloying in the summer makes perfect sense, and I agree this would be lovely to wear during winter months. I’d love to get my hands on this. I am in the US

  • cocomoose says:

This is a very special Fragrance. It speaks Rock and Roll in every aspect. Dark, mysterious, earthy. I am a hugh fan of those type of fragrance that is mysterious and inviting at the same time and i can see and smell clearly why this was made in collaboration of an Rock Legend.

  • I thought I was going to hate this one but I surprisingly like it! It’s dark without going hard on the leather, I think Steven on his review should have gone a little bit more in depth on the note breakdown, this fragrance has a crunchy apple that adds an uniqueness to it. Cheers from Connecticut!

“Iommi was ranked number 25 in Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.”

To be honest I was expecting he’d be ranked higher.
Before sharing my thoughts on Tony Iommi Deified ,and comparing my experience with what Steven is getting I’d like to say there is something slightly confusing about the official notes of the fragrance. Yes the notes listed by Michelyn are the notes from Xerjoff website, but in the pamphlet of Deified there are two differences, the apple is listed as “sugary apple” and also osmanthus is also part of the official notes, and personality i get lots of it in the fragrance. Good friend of mine bought the fragrance directly from Xerjoff , I’ve seen it and the other interesting stuff in the pamphlet is that on the last page there’s I believe a real guitar pick, like the one Tony Iommi is using himself… Sergio Momo and his attention to detail 🙂
Personally I wouldn’t call Deified a flanker to Monkey Special, the two are vastly different. In comparison to Steven the opening to me is super spicy, and not just with spicy tendencies. The apple is so juicy and tart , and the cinnamon and saffron combination is fantastic. Alexandria II i own , and I don’t get the slight comparison Steven made. I also don’t think Deified goes into ruff and tumble territory, the leather is so smooth and coming from both osmanthus and saffron ,with natural peppery rose in the background. Beautiful fragrance no doubt about it, and in my opinion better suited for more special occasions.
My favorite Xerjoff fragrance is Mamluk
All profiles I already follow . Let’s not forget the man himself @joffmomo , @waltherp99bg
    Thanks a lot
    USA

  • Love Tony Iommi and it’s definitely in my top 5! Hard to believe they have a flanker already and looking forward to sampling. Steven’s reviews are always on point and detailed giving honest opinions on price and uniqueness.

  • Fun flanker; the long-lasting original sounded compelling, and this Deified version does too. Steven pointed out that Deified replaces a lot of the sweetness of the original with dark overtones. The spiced apple opening could have read as gourmand, but the “dark, earthy” notes here pull it back from the pie plate. “If you’re a fan of some of the bright, citrusy, aquatic fragrances, it’s not going to be for you.” Like Steven said, definitely a fall and winter wear.

    I’m in the USA.

  • petergigov says:

Learning about the new Tony Iommi Deified was such a delight , Steven and Michelyn are such a great duo ! The different facets set up by the unknown perfumer are impressive , it’s not just a linear leather fragrance ,there’s some spicy ,fruity and floral undertones , even papyrus and green apple – posh dark fragrance at its best , I need such perfumes in my collection.
I’d wear Deified going out to a date or a bar , such situations i think will suit the the fragrance well.
Out of all Xerjoff lines, my favorites are Casamorati Lira , Opera , Italica and Amabile.
    Exciting giveaway, USA
    Regards

  • Oh I love a cinnamon mossy patchy beauty. Super keen to try this. I am in US. Thank you for the chance to win.

  • The way Steven describes fragrances is always very spot on! Personally, I’m a Scorpio, so I love darker and mysterious scents

  • IvanVelikov says:

The fragrance already caught in the hype on social media, Tony Iommi Deified is not only is inspired by one of the greatest guitar players ever, but also think it represents the passion, lust , and of lavish lifestyle on Tommy Iommi as a person.
Ideally balanced , multifaceted leather, warm spicy fragrance with rose , and it’s made by Xerjoff? Not to mention Steven is impressed. Wow Tony Iommi Deified is special , and I believe I’d feel in good spirits while wearing it.
Like Michelyn told us last year it’s all about craftsmanship for Sergio Momo, and for me too , I’m a tailor after all.
My favorite Xerjoff is Lira .
Beautiful giveaway , thank you Steven, Michelyn , Twisted Lilly

  • Redolessence review really paints a picture of this intricate fragrance . What really grabbed me in his review was Tony Iommi Deified extensive journey. The way it starts with sharp green apple and cinnamon, goes through woody feel , and finishes with dark sensual leather with rose , I’m keen on that.
I also love the way perfumer was able to achieve the perfect balance between woody , leathery and spicy on one part, and comfort and originality on another. Depending on Redolessence experience with the fragrance I’m convinced Tony Iommi Deified is a very special darker fragrance with lots of depth, and unique character
Thanks for the draw, from the USA

  • Tony Iommi Deified is a fragrance with a character, that has a lot of layers, woody , earthy and leathery with apple, patchouli and even slight gothic undertones .I like such non-linear artistic fragrances, something to be expected of all Xerjoff creations.
Of course I’ve heard Black Sabbath, and Tony Iommi, but since I don’t know much of heavy metal music , I like the way Michelyn filled us in . I now know not only about the fragrance, but how big of a name Tony Iommi actually is.
Naxos and La Capitale are my favorite Xerjoff beauties
    Thanks for the draw
    USA

  • Through Tony Iommi Deified i believe people worldwide could learn about the Italy , and its rich culture , historical sightseeings , but also and the importance of Tony Iommi , and Black Sabbath for the whole heavy metal scene.
Usually I’m leaning towards sweeter and more gourmandish fragrances, Xerjoff go have quite a lot of such , no wonder I believe one of the best gourmands ever made is Italica.
Tony Iommi Deified is a fragrance I’ll gladly wear when I’m dressed up, on a cocktail, wedding basically every occasion I have to wear a suit. I particularly like the spices in the opening with the Granny Smith apple, the rose and the leather.
Appreciate Michelyn heavy metal introduction, Steven’s review, and the giveaway campaign

  • Love Stephen’s review and how this adds onto the depth of the original. The original one is so unique and eternal. Would love to try this new iteration. Love from NY!

  • I grew up in a family of old-school hip-hop lovers, and i know Black Sabbath by name only, I’m not even sure what’s the difference between hard rock and heavy metal so Michelyn introduction was helpful to me, to sort of feel better the spirit of “Tony Iommi Deified ”.
When I think of it , I like everything about the fragrance the apple, saffron and cinnamon , the rose and especially the darker leather. Tony Iommi Deified is provocative and slightly gothic fragrance.
The best Xerjoff fragrances in my opinion are Cruz del Sur II , followed by Golden Dallah , and then comes my old love Lira.

I loved Steven’s YouTube review of Xerjoff Tony Iommi Deified. I love the house of Xerjoff and the original Tommy Iommi Monkey Special. Steven describes trhis one beautifully with spicy notes and saffron mixed with leather and a tart green apple sounds truly divine. Owner and creative director Sergio Momo sounds like he created another masterpiece. I am from the USA.
