Best Fragrances for Father’s Day 2023 + five fragrant giveaways for Dad

What are the Best Fragrances for Father's Day 2023

collage by Steven

The first official Mother’s Day in the USA was celebrated as a national holiday in 1914, but Father’s Day wasn’t signed into law until 1972. What’s up with that? This year Father’s Day is June 18th, so celebrate the men you love with a gift of scent.

Chances are your dad (and most men who aren’t fragrance aficionados) has been wearing the same cologne for years, so it’s time to change up his fragrance game with a scent that is as unique as he is. Whether his style is sporty or sophisticated.  we think he’ll enjoy one of these five fragrances for Father’s Day 2023 –Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

INeKE Derring-Do (INeKE Ruhland): D is For Dashing. Derring-Do is a standout Fougère fragrance for Father’s Day 2023. Translucent citruses blend with silky cyclamen (Persian violet) and a sea spray-like note that makes it shimmers and glisten. As this continues, it blends the warmth and spiciness of cardamom and pepper with the tender green of fern and creamy magnolia petals. It is spicy, yet floral fresh AND clean! It’s a unique take on a “Freshie.” I am going to order Derring Do for my dad. –Michelyn

Until 2021, Parfums de Marly Haltane was a Harrods exclusive. Haltane is a potent fragrance that is both traditional and modern, contrasting the brightness of bergamot with the depth of leather and oud, the herbaceous quality of clary sage and lavender with a well-rounded praline accord which along with saffron are particularly prominent. The sillage is powerful and the scent lingers over 12 hours. For the dad who wants to make a statement. –Michelyn

LilaNur Parfums Agar Épicé (Fabrice Pellegrin):The Indian niche house of LilaNur Parfums was a 2x Fragrance Foundation Finalist 2022, the first year they launched and  each perfume is created by a French nose. Agar Épicé lives up to its name… it’s  all about woods, spices and  REAL Indian oud. The composition is brightened by zingy ginger and the guaiac wood adds a gourmand facet. If dad (or you) needs an incentive to get dressed up for a night on the town or is looking to reignite romance, buy him this-Michelyn

Tempus Vitae Carpe Diem (Kyle-Mott Kannenberg with Ida Meister as evaluator): He’ll seize the day with this woody chypre with oakmoss in its warm, resinous heart. If you can’t take dad to the theatre or a concert, or if he loves to read then Carpe  Diem is the next best thing. Its inspiration comes from a “love and fascination with venerable concert halls and well archived libraries with wooden shelves…Senior Editor Lauryn Beer’s review really captures Carpe Diem perfectly. “What really takes me by surprise is how textural Tempus Vitae Parfums Carpe Diem becomes as it wears. it opens with contrasts: a soaring, sparkly bergamot and the milky, woody smell of parched paper. Sandalwood and labdanum combine early in the fragrance’s development to create its central, old book odor… And it hooks me. The longer I wear this fragrance, the more I want to scent my whole apartment with it.

Kajal Homme II (Chris Maurice & Rosendo Mateu): When I saw the “II” after Kajal Homme II, I thought it might be a flanker of  2015’s  Kajal Homme. What they have in common are the perfumers (perfumers Chris Maurice and Rosendo Mateau, RIP). Kajal Homme II is a completely different fragrance. If you are looking for a Father’s Day Fragrance that is classy without being stuffy this is it. The aromatic opening of clary sage, rosemary and lavender add balance to the heart of cloves, peach and cinnamon notes. The base of Virginia cedar wood is particularly elegant at the dry down –Michelyn

Being a father now myself, I understand how important scent memories are. I remember exactly how my father and grandfather smelled. I think these choices sound great and well balanced. Thank you Steven and Michelyn. If I were lucky enough to win, I’d go with the Kajal. Been wanting to try them for a while. Thanks for the opportunity. From USA.

  • Brad Woolslayer says:

It’s always fun to hear about great fragrances for the Father’s Day season. I’d love to win a bottle of Kajal Homme II. I love that Steven finds it unique and that Michelyn says it’s classy without being stuffy. I live in Maryland USA.

  • hippononamus says:

I’d go with Parfums de Marly Haltane based on the notes. Agar Épicé sounds a bit out of season this late in the year imo. Surprised there wasn’t a Rogue on the list. I’m in the US.

  • LATONYA GIPSON-BOWMAN says:

    Great video Steven.
I agree with Michelyn, that Haltane is definitely for the on who wants to make a statement. I would love to win that bottle.

  • lillian33 says:

I don’t have a dad to give this to but I would love to try PDF’s Haltane for myself! I do love lavender. From Ct USA! Thanks

  • LATONYA GIPSON-BOWMAN says:

    Great video Steven
I absolutely agree with Michelyn that Haltane is definitely one to make a statement and this would definitely be my choice to win.
    I live in Orlando FL

  • Scentsational Exchange says:

I appreciate that Michelyn and Steve have highlighted lesser-known brands and niche perfumes, offering a chance to explore new olfactory experiences.
And I appreciate that many of these fragrances incorporate flowers – it’s a wonderful step towards blurring gender boundaries.

I like that, despite Steve’s extensive collection, he highlighted Kajal Homme II, stating that he had never tried anything like it before. The combination of peach, spices, lavender, and cedar is indeed quite unconventional for a men’s fragrance. Similarly, having magnolia in the men’s perfume INeKE Derring-Do sounds rather atypical.

What comes to Michelyn`s opinions, I love that her curation focuses on fragrances that evoke elegance and sophistication. LilaNur Parfums Agar Épicé, with its woody and spicy composition, captures the allure of Indian oud, while Tempus Vitae Carpe Diem – notes I really adore and love in perfumery.

Thank you! These reviews not only provide informative insights into the fragrances but also evoke a sense of excitement and curiosity, making readers eager to explore and experience these scents for themselves or as gifts for their loved ones.

My choice is Kajal Homme II.
    I live in EU.
I follow you on Instagram and my name there is ‘cousinlebleu’.

  • Absolutely agree with Steven and Michelyn’s list. Classy and unforgettable fragrances. My top 2 however will be Kajal Homme II and PDM’s Haltane. I cannot help but feel Kajal Almaz could have also made this list.

  • So many wonderful picks here. I love Michelyn’s little blurbs in articles like this – quick and to the point but with enough details to make you salivate. I appreciate her thoughts on Kajall Homme II. Her description of it being classy without being stuffy caught my attention because those are the types of fragrances I usually like to keep around for work-related events or formal occasions. Steven mentioned this fragrance being assertive and unique among all of his fragances. Given the number of scents he has at his disposal, that’s saying something. It must be rare to come across some thing that truly stands out.

Another one of this bunch that I’m quite interested in is Haltane. Michelyn wrote about the contrast of citruses against leather and oud. I love contrasts and duality in my scents so that sounds very appealing to me. Steven also called this one assertive, but went on to say that it has an approachable side to it. That sounds just about right for a Perfums de Marly fragrance – they all tend to be quite commanding yet have a mass-appeal side to them.

Lastly, there’s Tempus Vitae Carpe Diem. Michelyn called it a woody chypre and that’s honestly all it took to reel me in. I love a nice masculine-leaning chypre. While this one doesn’t sound like it’s going to be one of those ultra animalistic musky beasts from yesteryear, the excerpts from Lauryn’s review certainly make it sound very interesting. She praised it for being very textural which I love. Steven talked about the jasmine in it being very nicely done and I love it when a potent floral such as that is used in a more masculine formulation.

That said, I would be happy with Kajal Homme II, PDM Haltane, or Tempus Vitae Carpe Diem. I live in NC, USA.

My father’s gift will absolutely go to my uncle ( pastor) who lost 2 of his 3 daughters on the way to church when the church van flipped over.. I have church on the phone with him 2 times a week when he has the time. I’m in east st.louis and he’s in Colorado

  • ramsesperez52 says:

Great list! I’m not a father myself but I am familiar with some of these fragrances and they are very paternal. From Steven’s comments, I’d have to say Haltane by Parfums De Marly is the one I’m dying to have and I also love wearing the sample I have until it’s gone, very soon. It does have a hint of sweetness that separates it from its comparison to Oud For Greatness. I’d have to agree with Michelyn on most dads wearing the same fragrance if they don’t know any better. Cheers from NJ, USA.

  • Parfums de Marly Haltane is my pick. Good luck to all and as always thank you to Michelyn, Steven, and all the brands!

  • castlemicro says:

Hello from Florida, and thanks to Michelyn and Steven for their curation! I’m following your Instagram from my account @castlemicro.

If I win, I’d love to receive Parfums de Marly’s Haltane. I noticed that all the Father’s Day selections were spicy statement scents, and Haltane seems to be a standout in the genre. I think I’d enjoy wearing it to give an impression that is “assertive with an air of playfulness.”

  • FragranceIsMe says:

In watching Steven and reading Michelyn’s curation for Father’s day fragrances, Everyone offers something appealing to me. I currently own Kajal Homme II and it is one of my most worn fragrances. The top two that have caught my attention are PDM Haltane (for a dad wanting to make a statement) and LilaNur Agar Epice (the dressed up and/or romantic dad). I find both of these to be a perfect match for this dad 🙂 Should I be lucky enough to win, my choices are LilaNur Agar Epice or PDM Haltane.

  • Michelyn’s review indicates that many on the list have a formal, evening-wear feel to it which is why they seem appropriate for fathers. Steven finds Kajal Homme II to be quite unique, something he has not smelled before. While Steven highlights the woody notes in some, he notes that most of the ones mentioned in the video do have a sweet side to them. My choices are Parfums de Marly Haltane, Kajal Homme II, or Agar Epice. I am in US.

  • fragrancelove says:

Father day choices here are great. I think they cover a lot if tastes. Ineke Derring-Do is something I have never heard about before. Michelyn seems to love it as it is spicy floral and clean. Haltane is liked by Steven as it is oudy leathery with herbaceous qualities. Lilanur AGAR Epices also seems real oud woody choice. Tempus Vitae Carpe Diem is described as a woody chypre with oakmoss and that’s excellent for Dads. Kajal Homme II also seems like an excellent choice with clary sage, rosemary and lavender with cloves, peach and cinnamon notes on a base of Virginia cedar wood.

I would like to enter the giveaway with a choice of either Haltane or Kajal homme ii

  • extremetraveler says:

Wow, what an astounding lineup – from rich, and resinous – to fresh, clean and citrusy, these 5 could make any Father stand a little taller no matter the time of year. For me, during my formative years as a toddler, whether pulling potted plants over and eating the dirt, crawling on my mothers freshly washed bedding or smelling supper in the kitchen – the smells and aromas still linger freshly in my nose when I think of the moments long past – but it was the smell of my fathers’ collar as he carried me, fresh from filling tanker trucks at the petrol station – the sting of gasoline mixed with a splash of Old Spice – the sort of punctuation mark that made me stare at him in bewilderment – the juxtapose of denim, leather boot polish, gas fumes with that after-shave tip-toeing between them, although unexplainable at the time, all was all the context I needed as a toddler to define the word ‘Father’.

These days, my dad can breathe a bit easier, and lift a little bit less… Thankfully he’s still here, and when I hug his neck, it smells a little more like Colonia… and in a proud, ornery way, his lip will curl up with a half-smile and he’ll say, “Did you smell what I’m wearing? It’s the one you got me for my birthday.”

So for my dad who is less of a statement-maker, but no less profound – I would have to peg him as Derring-Do by InEKe – If it’s a Father’s Day winner for Michelyn, I know my dad would be proud to wear it.

  • Johnmc5000 says:

    Love the reviews.
    I would choose Agar Epice.
It sounds like nothing I have in my collection.
I am a dog father and they treat me well on fathers day.
    Thanks for the giveaways.

  • I enjoyed both Michelyn and Steven’s recommendations for Father’s Day, as they seem very different from the typical fathers day offerings. All the selections are intriguing and sound magnificent! I am curious of Steven’s description of the notes for Parfums de Marly’s Haltane, with notes of sweet praline and oud. If i win, that would be my pick! I am in Chicago, US.

  • chrisskins says:

I had a sample of Derring-Do that I sent to a friend in Mexico – it never got there. Why? Why? I’d love to revisit that enchanting fragrance especially since Steven points out that it’s magnolia, my latest crush. I’m also interested in the Parfums de Marly Haltane; it just sounds heady and gorgeous.. I truly appreciate the opportunity, Cafleurebon. From NY.

  • Greg Graham Sr says:

Hello Steven and Cafleurebon and Michelyn, Happy Father’s day to all the Fathers, thank you for generosity. I love PDM and Anything by Kajal Stay safe

  • Great selections Stephen and Michelyn.
I would love to win LiLaNur Agar Epice for my husband he needs to get out more. I went throughtheir website and they have such amazing perfumes. I Remember ida write about it and I read Davana Cedre also from Cafleurebon.
For my cousin I think Kajal Homme II sounds amazing fougere and fresh
    USA

  • I would love to win LilaNur Parfums Agar Epice . Michelyn mentioned this one is for the dad that wants tto get dressed up for a night on the town, which would fit me to a tee. Steven’s description is precise and complete as usual, calling it “sophisticated and resinous.

Great list , great recommendations . I woald love to get one for my self . Im 58.

  • Joel Franco says:

I wish this time won one of this beatifull fragrance, thanks PDM for me or Kajal

  • ThatMulattoDude says:

Father’s Day takes on a special meaning for me today because I did not grow up with my pops. He and my mom parted when I was a baby. Though it was difficult, over time we were able to reconcile and establish a relationship. Ms. Camen’s incredulity as to why the day was never celebrated before 1972 is a sentiment I share as well. I really enjoyed her comments and Steven’s run-down of the profiles of these scents. If I were to win, I’d choose Kajal Homme II. The versatility of that fragrance intrigues me. Many blessings from Virgina, USA!

  • ianbradleyandrews says:

The leather and oud in haltane sound phenomenal form how Michelyn describes it. Steven is always so thorough in his reviews. I’d love to win haltane. I live in Indiana.

  • Roger Currie says:

I am interested in a bottle of InEKe’s Derring Do. I am 59 years old and I am new to the fragrance world. The Derring Do would be a nice addition to my small collection.

  • Alejandro says:

Carpe Diem looks just amazing with that beautiful combination of notes. It looks classy and powerful sophisticated i’d say. It will fit great on my dad he deserve the best. Good night all of you great job, shout out to Steven. I’m from Lakeland, Florida, USA.

  • Based off these descriptions, I can definitely agree on this list for these fragrances uniqueness and quality. Ineke has a very interesting combo of floral and spiciness, something that I usually see in warmer fragrances than a clean fresh one. Stevens review of Kajal Homme II has definitely caught my eye, but is somewhat hard for me to imagine the scent (partially due to its uniqueness) from the lists of notes and the sweetness described by Steven. PDM Haltane is a classic and I definitely agree to it being on this list. Carpe Diem’s old book oder in the except is very interesting to see with the mix of notes it has. Agar Épicé has quite the list of notes but the sophistication and warm makes it sound incredible for the colder seasons. If I were to win, my top three would probably have to be Haltane, Kajal Homme II, or Agar Épicé.

Just lost my Dad this year May 1st. I know he would have enjoyed Carpe Diem. Thanks Steven for the opportunity to win. Fingers crossed.

  • AromaDulce73 says:

The fragrances I would choose from these 5 would be Parfums de Marly Haltane and LilaNur Parfums Agar Épicé. I love what both Steven & Michelyn had to say about all these fragrances. They all seem to be really good in their own way. I love that Fathers are being recognized because if it wasn’t for my fathers collection I probably wouldn’t be so into fragrances as I am today.

  • My choice is a 100 ml bottle of Kajal Homme II. Steven’s curation was very professional and helpful. Michelyn’s curation was in my opinion was also very helpful, beautiful and intriguing. I live in Trzebnica, Poland, EU. My Insta name: insztagramekphoto

  • aromatic opening of clary sage, rosemary and lavender add balance to the heart of cloves, peach and cinnamon notes. The base of Virginia cedar wood is particularly elegant at the dry down –Michelyn I am intrigued by the notes especially peach, cinnamon and clove and the fact Steven says he hasn’t smelt anything like this just emphasised the classy nature of thid composition. I would love it if I won Kajal Homme II. Thanks a lot from the UK

  • Ken White says:

I’m only familiar with the scent of Haltane. Both Steven and Michelyn’s descriptions make the other fragrances sound interesting as well. I LOVE the smell of Haltane though, therefore, that’s my choice to win! New Jersey, USA

  • From Michelyn’s portion I was reminded that Kajal II is a completely different fragrance from Kajal. From the video reviews I thought the Derring-Do was most to my style, so that’s what I choose for the draw. US

  • Love Love these selections! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for this Super Timely List (it’s a reminder for busy me to start shipping, lol)! descriptions from Michelyn & Steven!

  • Beautiful article! All perfumes sound interesting.
I am agree with Michelyn that Hanltane is traditional, moder and for the dad who wants to make a statement.
Steven finds Kajal Homme II to be quite unique..and I need to test it.
I would like to win PdM Haltane.

These are gorgeous picks for Father’s day. I’ve had the chance to sample Agar Epice and I would be thrilled to offer this to my husband for the holiday. Michelyn’s description as a scent for a dressed up and romantic night on the town is spot on. And Steven’s description of it as an elevated sophisticated spiced oud with a balsamic feel is also perfect. In Texas.

  • I liked the choices for this article. Michelyn mentioned INeKE…one of my favorite brands! Carpe Diem sounds great, with its parched paper description. Steven mentions a praline note in Haltane that sounds lovely. If lucky, I’d choose Agar Épicé or Carpe Diem. Thanks for the opportunity to sniff. Mich USA

Nice video of 5 EXCEPTIONAL Masculine Fragrances That Are Great Father’s Day, good recommendations for fathers day gift.

  • Uncle1979 says:

I’m so lucky for having such a great, and supportive family in my life , love them all , male or female.
My father likes fragrances, Mancera Soleil D’Italie and Vetiver Exclusif, Guerlain Vetiver and Serge Lutens Chergui are the four i gifted him last 2-3 years.
☆ INeKE Derring-Do fresh and spicy fougere
    ☆ Parfums de Marly Haltane
To me Haltane is just ultra modern, and not traditional . Lavender is cozy , and not old-school super aggressive , and it mixes with the praline, saffron and the oud perfectly. To me it smells like Chocolate Praline and Saffron Crêpe Cake I do on private orders only , with a bit of oud. Like to Steven, there’s no leather to my nose , it seems the saffron in Haltane smells leathery to Michelyn .
☆ LilaNur Parfums Agar Épice , I like the real Indian oud , the ginger and the gourmand facet.
☆ Tempus Vitae Carpe Diem interesting “old book odor” kind of fragrance
    ☆ Kajal Homme II
There are quite a few Kajal fragrances i like, and two that I love and own – Dahab and Lamar.
Dahab smells like Granny Smith Mousse Cake with passion fruit, and non candied slices of the apple on top , while sitting next to just cut Cedar Lumber.
Lamar, the best Kajal in my opinion, smells like Vanilla Cake with Strawberries and Pineapple .
Kajal Homme II is different than Dahab , and Lamar, upscale , polished around the edges fragrance i can wear on more dressed up occasions.
I’ll be happy to win Kajal Homme II
Appreciate both reviews, the 5 suggestions , and the giveaway campaign

Scent has always been a great way to access memories. I still remember the Old Spice aftershave my Dad used to wear. Steve and Michelyn’s list is a bit more elegant. I’m drawn towards InEKe Derring Do for the cyclamen, sea salt spray and spices, PdM Haltane for the praline accord and saffron and Tempus Vitae Carpe Diem because I love a good chypre and I appreciate Steven’s discussion of the heady floral note. I would be delighted with any of the three, MD, USA

  • Aquafortis says:

What I really appreciate about this curation is I am familiar with only 3 of the brands featured, and all the fragrances discussed have clearly been selected to stand out as very unique and intriguing recommendations for Father’s Day. Michelyn’s lead in to Lauryn Beer’s review of Carpe Diem got me really curious about Tempus Vitae. I really enjoyed Steven’s great review of all the fragrances, and Agar Epice I would love to win. I live in California.

  • Shawn Schnell says:

I just want to say I really enjoy your content. I appreciate the time and work you put into everything. I’m new to the fragrance world and just started working on my collection. Your videos are very informative and helpful. I look forward to seeing more. I haven’t tried the perfums de Marly yet but they always sound so appealing.

  • Kajal Homme II seems like the most interesting pick to me because it’s one of the last Rosendo Mateu creations before he passed. A great way to honor a legend in perfumery. All of the choices that Michelyn and Steven chose are bound to be great in their own ways. California – US. Thank you.

  • Johan Ventura says:

I love the video he make all 5 sound so great and I love the Carpe Diem with the Citrus opening this is a really great fragrance if u want to be different love Wearing this one and the have 2 more great fragrance u need to try out

  • RonaldProkes17 says:

I really enjoyed both reviews. I was so intrigued by Steven’s description of LilaNur Parfums Agar Épicé – in particular how he decribed it as resinous and sophisticated. It really sounded like he fell in love with it and something very special. Michelyn also highlighted the zingy ginger, which I though would be a fantastic way to balance the real oud in the fragrance. I had never heard of this house before reading and watching the reviews and I am smitten. I would love to try it.
My choice is LilaNur Parfums Agar Épicé and I live in California, USA.

  • I’m always looking for fragrances that aren’t being worn by everyone & this Father’s Day is no different. Thanks for the list.Just what I’ve been looking for. Any of these would make for a great gift. Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers!

  • Steven’s video and Michelyn’s introduction inspired me and warmed my heart. I often forget to appreciate my father to the degree he truly deserves.
I’d love to win Kajal Homme II for him, which sounds like a barbershop fougère just as gentle, elegant and benign as my father is.

My fatter is no longer with me, but I do remember him, in my youth years wearing old style colognes: pino silvestre, Jockey, Aqua Brava, and Eau Sauvage.
His personality was strong but also funny and giving.
As a father myself, I see myself wearing something like Haltane, but in honor to my father, I would wear Kajal Homme II. This fragrance, as described by Steven in his video, it resembles my dad’s personality.

Happy Father’s Day to all the parents of this community.

  • So many of these fragrances sound amazing. I like that Michelyn picked out 5 fragrances that are unique and different from each other as well, and from some lesser-known brands at that. Tempus Vitae Carpe Diem sounds the most my speed – Michelyn described it as smelling like old books, which sounds so amazing and cozy, and I love that Steven called out the jasmine note, as jasmine is one of my favorites. Parfums de Marley Haltane is also appealing and I liked how both Michelyn and Steven mention how the sweet and oudy/woodsy notes balance each other. Kajal Homme II sounds great too – per Michelyn “classy without being stuffy” and I appreciate that Steven says it’s completely unique.

I’d love to win Carpe Diem, Haltane, or Homme II. I follow you on Instagram @ra7chel and I’m in MN, USA.

  • Steven’s interpretation is always top notch and his ability to describe nuances of fragrances is great. Michelyn gave a good summation of the fragrances. My choice if the winner would be the PDM Haltane and the Kajal Homme ll. I live in NYC USA.

  • IvanVelikov says:

Personally I don’t need a special day to show love and appreciation to all the people i care about .In my opinion Valentine’s Day , Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are all a bit forced.
My father likes Dior Eau Savage the original from the 60s-70s , and not the modern one with Johnny Depp , Guerlain Vetiver , Dunhill Icon and Nishane Hacivat, my gifts to him.
-Ineke Derind-Do is versatile spicy floral
    -Parfums de Marly Haltane
When I think Parfums de Marly , I always think Pegasus . Being in tailoring business, I would wear Haltane while working with clients at the shop , and also going out clubbing.Classy , dress to impress bespoke suit type of fragrance. Praline-saffron-oud accord is tickling my fancy even more
-LilaNur Parfums Agar Epice new Indian niche house I need to sample, I like ginger fragrances
-Tempus Vitae Carpe Diem is unique, parched paper and bergamot
    -Kajal Homme II
I wonder what kind of fragrance Michelyn calls “classy without being stuffy”? I like modern aromatic, and spicy fragrances
Kajal Homme II is the fragrance i’d like to win the most
Thank you Michelyn, Steven and all the brands

Thank you for the reviews Michelyn and Steven! I thought all of your selections would be fragrances my father would love. Masculine, some rich with a fougere bouquet, some with deep woods and spice; simply classic.
If I won I would be elated to gift my father Parfums De Marly’s Haltane, it would suit him so well.

This is a good selection of fragrances to review/recommend from Michelyn and Steven, and I appreciate their insight and descriptions of the fragrances. I’ve never tried Kajal Homme II, so I appreciated it when Steven described it and made it known that it’s unique. While reading Michelyn’s description of Kajal Homme II, LilaNur Parfums Agar Epice, and Parfums de Marly Haltane, I found them all to seem enticing, and I’d like to try all of them. If I win, then I’d choose LilaNur Parfums Agar Epice as my first choice. If I get a second choice and a third choice, then I’d choose Kajal Homme II and Parfums de Marly Haltane. I live in the U.S.A. I follow @cafleurebonoffical on Instagram from @regismonkton

  • Thanks for the recommendations Steven and Michelyn!

I inherited my father’s nose. We both love Woody and Green fragrances and we have shared many fragrances.

Michelyn’s description of Kajal’s Homme II sounds like a great fragrance to introduce my father to this brand. Homme I was too sweet for him, but this new release that isn’t as sweet and has Clary Sage and Cedarwood are exactly the kind of notes that would make this a contender for a new signature scent.

Steven’s reviews are always enjoyable. Not only do I get a great idea of what the fragrances smells like, he also gives me a good idea of what personality would suit the fragances.
This only enphasizes that Homme II would be my best choice!

I would love to win Kajal Homme II!

    Greetnigs from the UK!

Parfums de Marly Haltane is without a doubt my pick – a beautiful scent for a great father! I thought both selections were fantastic with great curation for Father’s Day. Stephen’s inclusion of Haltane sealed the deal for me. NY. USA. I follow on Insta as well – @ben.millerr

  • From the intriguing combination of floral and spiciness in INeKE Derring-Do to the captivating sweetness of Parfums de Marly Haltane, this list truly offers a unique and high-quality selection of fragrances. INeKE’s creation stands out for its unexpected twist on a clean and fresh scent, while Haltane’s classic and powerful nature is undeniably appealing. Tempus Vitae Carpe Diem’s intriguing note of old book odor adds an intriguing dimension to its warm and resinous composition. LilaNur Parfums Agar Épicé, with its sophisticated blend of notes and warming qualities, holds immense promise for the colder seasons. These fragrances caught my attention, particularly Haltane, Kajal Homme II, and Agar Épicé. Their distinctiveness and appeal make them top contenders for my Father’s Day fragrance selection. I am a resident of Texas, USA.

  • I just LOVE Kajal fragrances..I hope i can put my nose on this one too <3.
    Greetings from Romania, EU!

  • Parfums de Marly Haltane would be my choice to win. Having never had the opportunity to try this one I would love to add this to my collection.

With my long days I would love a long lasting Bergamot and Oud. I wear my Jo Malone Bergamot and Oud at least a couple of times a month. I wonder how it compares?

According to Steven’s review this sounds pretty adventurous. Playful and serious makes this sound pretty flexible.

Thanks for the giveaway from the USA

  • Kajal Lamar is one of my favorite fragrances in my collection. I haven’t tried Kajal Homme II but after Stephen saying it’s really unique and Michelyn writing it’s classy without being stuffy, this dad would especially like it.
Agar Epice would bring out my romantic side.
Ineke Derring Do based on Michelyn writing she’s getting it for her father is also smithing I want to try.
    USA
Happy Father’s Day to every one it applies to.

  • Oh boy, such great fragrances brought by both legends: Michelyn and Steven.
I think that these fragrances are great for a father. They all have great character and gives a vibe of someone who is gentle and masculine.
I think that the one I am really interested the most and the one I would like to win is LilaNur Parfums Agar Épice, I would love to try that Indian Oud, just wow. I think that my father would adore that fragrance since he loves strong fragrances.
    USA here.

  • Michelyn mentioned in her fitting tribute to the fathers out there that the “chances are your dad has been wearing the same cologne for years.” That’s very true in my case—I recall my dad judicially applying the same Givenchy sample for most of my childhood, just for special occasions. Also, Michelyn’s appealing description of Derring-Do makes me want to return to my sample. And I remember Lauryn’s excellent review of Tempus Vitae Carpe Diem, which I really want to try. As usual, Steven’s takes are exceptionally detailed, and he highlighted the lovely magnolia note in Derring-Do. He also made me even more interested in LilaNur Parfums Agar Épicé. Excellent list.

I’m in the USA. I’d love to win any of these, but my top choice would be Tempus Vitae Carpe Diem. I’m @mmerline and follow @cafleurebonoffical on Instagram.

  • Here in Spain, Father´s day is March 19Th and, as everywhere else I guess, the advertsing of designer fragrances are everywhere on that season, so I guess is a very important day for scent sales! My dad like citrusy, woody cirtusy, aquatic fragrances (he is in his 80´s now) but I have the memory when I was a kid to smell on him Brut Faberge for a long time! I think I am going to follow Michelyn choice for her Dad: Derring Do is a “freshie” fougere so my Dad could like it because he is a calm person and Steven suggest this scent with its clean magnolia and citruses and aquatic touch for this kind of “Dads”. If I win I would choose Kajal Homme II for the uniqueness that Steven says: and earthy, spicy, warm and sweet. I live in Spain, EU and my insta is @sonbahia.

When I was living in Spain I had neighbors from Vietnam,I was always welcome in their house. On all holidays, Vietnamese or Spanish they kept reminding me of one traditional proverb they have
“When eating fruit, remember the one who planted the tree.”
It’s what came to mind when I read Michelyn introduction .My dad by the way wears gifted by me YSL Kuros, Creed Tabarome and Green Irish Tweed.

Ineke Derind-Do cardamom, warmth and Steven said it’s a compliment getter

    Parfums de Marly Haltane
Each to his own of course, but Haltane i believe is not traditional , it’s classy leather, spices, oud , and moderate sweetness .No “herbaceous quality” , or lavender are available on me when sprayed on skin , maybe that’s why I don’t think it’s traditional.

LilaNur Parfums Agar Epice woods , spices and real wood

Tempus Vitae Carpe Diem woody fragrance with warmth

    Kajal Homme II .
I was so impressed by Sebastian review of Kajal Homme some years ago, also his claims it’s one of the best masculine fragrances on the market, spectacular fragrance. Homme II is fresher , herbal, like Michelyn said with woody base and nothing like Homme I

I’ll be happy to win Kajal Homme II
    Overly exciting giveaway, USA
    Regards

  • Great reviews by Steven & Michelyn sharing a strong fantastic curated Father’s Day list. Steven is an expert fragrance connoisseur in choosing an excellent quality list. Michelyn’s describes these scent profiles beautifully written.
Based on both Steven’s and Michelyn’s reviews I would choose in order of interest: 1. Parfums de Marly Haltane 2. Kajal Homme II 3. Lilanur Parfums Agar Epice 4. Ineke Derring Do 5. Tempus Vitae Parfums Carpe Diem. I am following @cafleurebonoffical from Instagram name @calicalnurse. Greetings from the USA.

  • I am grateful to Michelyn and Steve for bringing attention to these exquisite niche perfumes, presenting an opportunity to discover novel olfactory journeys. I admire Steve’s mention of Kajal Homme II, expressing his fascination with its uniqueness. Its Notes challenge the conventional boundaries of men’s fragrances. Similarly, the inclusion of magnolia in the men’s perfume INeKE Derring-Do appears somewhat unconventional.

Regarding Michelyn’s insights, I always appreciate her thoughtfully curated selection that embodies elegance and refinement. LilaNur Parfums Agar Épicé, with its woody and spicy blend, captures the captivating essence of Indian oud, while Tempus Vitae Carpe Diem showcases notes that I personally adore and cherish in perfumery.

Considering my fondness for Oud, my preferred options would be Haltane or Kajal Homme II, or Agar Épicé.

Greetings everyone , and cheers to all Fathers , and Father figures on Cafleurebon
Having a caring family is like being in possession of a diamond, but unfortunately such diamond was never in my hands. Not my biological parents, but my uncle has always been the caring father figure in my life, and now as adult I’m helping him to my abilities . He likes more masculine Houbigant fragrances like Duc de Versions and Fougere Royale.
Out of the five brands in Father’s Day giveaway, I have smelled most from Parfums de Marly, two from Kajal Almaz and Dahab , but INeKE , LilaNur and Tempus Vitae i don’t know , I’ll look for points of sale in Paris.
I’ve been to Parfums de Marly Paris boutique at 26 rue Cambon multiple times, last time to buy a new bottle of Habdan, well decorated place, with like a mini Versailles atmosphere. I don’t know exactly how Haltane smells on Ms Camen skin, more leathery and herbaceous , but it’s not the way it smells on mine-more sweet and woody like on Mr Gavrielatos.
Out of Kajal perfumes I’m familiar with Almaz and Dahab only
If lucky i’d like to win Kajal Homme II because of the aromatic opening, spices and the upscale rose . It also seems like a versatile fragrance , perfect for the current Paris weather
Thank you, American living in Paris France

  • So Father’s Day became a holiday 58 years later than Mother’s Day? Better later than ever.
Speaking of the co-curated perfumes the most appealing i believe are Haltane from Parfums de Marly, Agar Epice from LilaNur and Homme II from Kajal
The relatively new Parfums de Marly Haltane is refined transitional weather fragrance , the soft leather and praline sweetness , together with the saffron do make it versatile, and easy to wear , from day time family gatherings , to going out with friends , or weddings .Long lasting fragrances are always welcome , and I think all Parfums de Marly fall in the same category , even fresher ones. I also like the deep green color of the bottle, and the contrast with the golden cap.
The Indian origin, French nose , quality oud and the seductive properties i find attractive in Agar Epice
I know Joorie from Kajal , because my sister in law wears it regularly, but it’s the only Kajal scent I know , high quality spicy sweet rose ,with honey , I like it a lot. Homme II I imagine , is elegant business meetings, and formal occasions fragrance
Since I set up grandpa with 200ml bottle of Jacques Fath Green Water (it even came with a bonus, extra travel size) , dad is next in line, Homme II from Kajal he’d like the most
    Thanks for the draw

Happy Father’s Day to all Fathers and future Fathers on Cafleurebon .
As usual I’ll share my thoughts on the fragrances I know, or want to try starting with the way Steven showed them in his video
    5. Homme II by Kajal , composed by Chris Maurice and Rosendo Mateu RIP
Versatile fragrance, pleasing and elegant . On me it gets sweeter in the drydown with more prominent peach and cinnamon
    4. Derring-Do by INeKE , composed by Ineke Ruhland
sounds like indeed unique take on a freshie
    3. Carpe Diem by Tempus Vitae, composed by Kyle Mott-Kannenberg, with evaluator our great Ida Meister
If it’s for my father yes , if it’s for me I’d swap it with the awesome FÊTE D’AMBRE.
    2. Haltane by Parfums de Marly, I don’t know who made it…
No doubt complex , well composed , special occasions fragrance. I’m with Michelyn on this one , more of a classically structured woody aromatic, with slightly sweet undertones, with blast of lavender, sage and zesty bergamot in the opening.
The magic to me happens in the heart and base , when Haltane transforms into a gorgeous safran leather, cedar, resins and vetiver combination, with slightly sweet chocolaty patchouli lurking in the background.
    1. Agar Epice by LilaNur, composed by Fabrice Pelegrin sweet ginger, on top of leather.
My father rarely changes fragrances Invasion Barbare by MDCI Parfums , composed by Stephanie Bakouche , and Bleu de Chanel Eau de Parfum by Chanel , composed by Jacques Polge are his favorites
    Haltane would be great
All profiles I already follow, @waltherp99bg . I also follow the designer Omar Ayoub , the genius behind Kajal bottle design

The best fragrances in the 2023 Father’s Day giveaway are:
Kajal Homme II sounds like a business meetings fragrance. Fresh and clean start , citrusy, woody and musky. The addition of fruity sweetness is making it even more versatile.
    PARFUMS de MARLY HALTANE:
Just WOW at the level of complexity , sweet, spicy , woody . I like there’s nothing overbearing, but the blend is really smooth.
I gifted my father Parfums de Marly Byerley twice , I’ll gladly give him Haltane too
    Thank you for the opportunity

  • Michael Prince says:

I loved Michelyn’s Intro and curation of Father’s Day as well as Steven’s Youtube review. I appreciate the unique picks that give off a masculine edge. I personally have tried and own Kajal Homme II and love it. It was interesting to know that Mother’s Day has been around since 1914, but Father’s Day started in 1972. I agree that most Father’s need to switch up their fragrance game and try something new. I know Haltane is a relatively new release that Steven and Michelyn have described it as bold and statement getting I also really like the sound of Agar Epice being spicy and woody with real Indian Oud. Carpe Diem sounds like a really nice Chypre and I like that resinous old book smell that gets mentioned. I am following @cafleurebonofficial on instagram @michaelprincefragrance If I win I would choose.
    1. Parfums De Marly Haltane
    2. Lilanur Parfums Agar Epice
    3. Ineke Parfums Derring Do
    4. Tempus Vitae Carpe Diem
    5. Kajal Homme II

    I am from the USA.

  • wallygator88 says:

Thank you for the great writeup Michelyn and the fantastic videos Steven.
I would love to try LilaNur Parfums Agar Épicé, Tempus Vitae Carpe Diem or Inneje Derring Do.

I loved the unique take of these three fragrances. Derring Do is (in Inneke Ruhland’s style) a uniquely fresh take on a fougere. Agar Epice sounds like a wonderful way to dress up Indian Oud and Carpe Diem is a wonderful old world take on the chypre structure.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • sephrenia300 says:

Great article! I thought Michelyn’s curation of LilaNur Parfums Agar Épicé for Father’s Day was a really great pic – woody warmth cozy spices and real oud are all notes I associate with that perfect combination of masculinity and comfort that is particularly great for an older man of refined taste.

And I thought Steven’s curation of Kajal Homme II for Father’s Day 2023 was very descriptive, with the way he characterized the fragrance as having this earthy, assertive quality due to the clary sage, rosemary, and oakmoss, while also being very warm, smooth, comforting and “genial”, with just the right amount of sweetness. I love fragrances that are contrasting like that so Kajal Homme II sounds like a very sophisticated gift for any Father.

I am following your new Instagram page @cafleurebonoffical and would like comment to count twice, my Insta name is momo.liu.121, and I live in the US. If I were to win, my first choice would be Haltane, my second choice would be Agar Epice, my 3rd choice would be Kajal Homme II, fourth Carpe Diem and fifth would be Derring Do.

  • 75 ml of Derring Do
Haltane is underrated. on skin it smells fantastic. Never smelled the others but freebie will be nice.
