Plume Impression Que Tal is a standout perfume from the new collection “Plume Encounters” which I awarded best of show at Esxence in Milan. I found Sabine Schaffer and Gabriel Chami who are the owners of the brand to be charming and sophisticated and we bonded over their impressive creations. The concept and fragrances behind Plume Impression reflects their mutual vision and presents a clear representation of their “plume”, which travels to far away destinations and experiences visual impressions of these encounters.

Founded in 2019, Plume Impression offers up scents as portraits within one’s mind, each takes on a special persona of both softness and strength. This duality is the hallmark of the brand. Presently there are two main collections, Elusive Spirit presented in white and silver describing the first three stories. These are invigorating scents easing the wearer into a new fragrance discovery and journey. The second Royal Spirit collection in black and gold are more powerful intense creations based on vibrant memories, be it Venice or Ascot and these provide deeper emotions.
“Plume Encounters” has been developed with perfumers, photographers and painters in mind using the feather as the facilitator of these fragrant formulas. Each experience is an extremely personal journey. For Plume Impression Que Tal they once again enlisted perfumer Jordi Fernández of Givaudan (who also composed another favourite of mine ‘Rivalite Imperiale’) and here he was given complete freedom to create Que Tal.
“Whilst he may be introspective his passion for utilising the finest raw materials make this collaboration a perfect match as he loves to express himself through his fragrances. It is Jordi’s signature. Que Tal encapsulates passion with patchouli jasmine and the touch of sweetness comes from his adoration and vision of Eastern culture. Special, vibrant and cosy Que Tal has character and spicy nuances. Jordi is a wonderful person with a passion for constantly looking out for the perfect match, putting all his favourite ingredients together for this amber scent… It is such a special fragrance for us.” -Sabine Schaffer and Gabriel Chami talk about their collaboration with Jordi Fernández at Esxence 2022.

Plume Impression Que Tal (Que Tal roughly translated from the Spanish means what’s going on or what’s up?) encapsulates the feeling of the warmest embrace in the summer months with a loved one. It is bright, explosive, comforting and warm; a truly gorgeous juxtaposition of fragrant emotions. The spiciness of pink pepper works wonders with a luscious apricot to provide one with a very voluptuous experience. Que Tal moves in a circular motion, and we pick up on the array of notes time and again which seem to reflect the embrace we are met with. It does not transition in a top-middle-base journey, rather it wraps itself around you lovingly giving you an experience that is dreamy and rather delicious.

The woody facets are offset by the floral jasmine and a whirling musky softness which acts as a pillowy cloud. One does not eagerly try to decipher this composition, instead just enjoy the wearing in a blissed-out state. Orris and sandalwood create a creamy aspect and with patchouli you sense a dreamy and deep experience as opposed to a powdery one. The sensation is sensual and slightly sweet. Cedar, dry amber and musk here add to the exoticism and alluring quality, whilst the apricot continues to be present hours into the wearing. Que Tal is a fantastic release and one I will be treasuring all through the summer and into the autumn.
Notes: Pink Peppercorn, Apricot, Patchouli, Jasmine, Sandalwood, Orris, Cedarwood, Dry Amber, Musk
