Xerjoff Casamorati Italica Review 2021+ A Squisito Draw

Xerjof Casamoratif Italica

What would olfactory gluttony smell like? I find it quite fascinating that humans take such pleasure indulging in sugar that is otherwise almost useless to us. The feelings of ecstasy we derive from fantasizing and consuming sweet delights are equivalent to lovemaking for some. I am guilty of such obsession and I will confess that gourmand fragrances are my absolute favorite form of sugar debauchery – their makers apply thought and vivid imagination to create olfactory delights beyond what nature has to offer. From the house of Xerjoff and Casamorati Creative Director Sergio Momo who brought us the glorious Dama Bianca,  the sun drenched Dolce Amalfi, the timeless Mefisto, recently re-issued of 2016’s Italic  which is quite a treat. Warm and full-bodied Italica opens with luscious creamy almonds and milk; a pinch of saffron adds a much-needed counterpoint to the sweetness. Bake the whole composition on sandalwood enveloped by dark bourbon vanilla and you get a decadent rich gourmand that speaks of opulence, arousing senses and our imagination. It highlights the most side of sensual side of gastronomy, the pleasure of a delicious dessert as a perfect finale to a memorable meal.

Xerjoff Italica for Casamorati

Photo of Italica by Olya Bar

There is an ideal balance between crunchy almond cookie and buttery milky smoothness, a juxtaposition of flavor and taste. I was surprised to see that after the initial opening, it was not as it first appeared. The creamy toffee-covered almonds were architecturally sound, built on a salty, roughly textured crust; it had a restrained, mellow powdery flavor, carefully tempered with a woodsy, slightly smoky base. The drydown is mostly white musk, soft and delicate, a scent of skin with traces of flour. Xerjoff  Casamorati Italica is an extraordinary plated dessert; from the moment your eyes rest on the bottle, its velvety smooth texture promises olfactory delight. An almond toffee twist on traditional St. Honoré, named for the French patron saint of bakers, Italica is not a replica of the classic choux pastry you’d find at a patisserie. However, the dessert contains most of Xerjoff Italica’s key ingredients: the tiny puffs of choux with transparent halos of deep caramel and the dark pastry layered underneath. It’s presented as a gleaming entremet, a glossy, and miniature cake garnished with whipped cream and candied almond. Xerjoff Italica is served with a glass of cold milk in an otherwise cozy Italian bakery that fills the entire street with the most delicious scents of pastries, cakes and treats.

Italica is a decadent finale to a beautiful evening, you anticipate the impossibly airy and smooth taste of it, and when it finally arrives and at the table, the scent of caramel rushes out, together with any willpower you had left to resist losing yourself entirely. Squisito!!!

Notes: Almonds, Milk, Saffron, Toffee, Sandalwood, and Vanilla, White Musk

  • This sounds like a delicious dessert.Love gourmet fragrances. Xerjoff does a wonderful job with the Notes. The beautiful red bottle. I would love to own this. Great review Olya as always. Thank you for this Chance. USA

  • Olya, you had me at “crunchy almond cookie and buttery milky smoothness.” What a fun review! I’m in love with anything almond and can’t wait to try it. ~ USA.

  • I enjoyed most from Olya’s review her description of Italica’s opening as a combination of crunchy almond cookie and buttery milky smoothness. It sounds decadent.

My favorite decadent dessert is chocolate mousse.

I live in Oregon, USA, and would love to win this draw.

  • From Olya’s review, I don’t know whether to spray Italica in my mouth or on my neck. Delish! Not surprised, Casamorati / Xerjoff never fails to create one masterpiece after another, and I’ve been wanting to sample Italica for a while but haven’t found it even at an official Xerjoff store. Olya’s description brings to mind the magical croton buche tower fit for kings. VA, USA

  • Once again I will say, Olya your the best at describing fragrances, what an amazing way to describe it. Can’t wait to try this delicious perfume. By reading your description I almost felt like i was tasting them notes. Thanks for sharing your beautiful thoughts on this fragrance.

  • Olya painted a very delicious olfactory picture of Xerjoff Italica. I personally have not found a gourmand perfume I love, as I prefer gourmand things to be edible. Gourmand perfumes can be too tantalizing, sans food to go with them. I am keeping my mind open, however. Xerjoff is a famous brand so Italica is going to be a wonderful perfume (it does so appear from Olya’s review) and I would love to try it, hopefully after a healthy meal, so I am not looking for cookies and cakes after putting it on. Thanks for the review and draw. I am in the USA.

  • Olya review is very close to what i have smell from the sample. Delicious cookie dip inside glass of milk. Hazelnut-and-Chocolate Meringue Cake is probably best desert that i have try down in portland. Thank you again for the giveaway. USA.

  • I recently purchased 30ml bottles of Dama Bianca and Bouquet Ideale from Xerjoff. I have been considering Italica for a while now. The desire for a decadent almond scent has kept me coming back to it. Now if only the purse would allow! In maryland.

  • Italica…a beautiful fragrance that makes me want dessert every time I smell it! The dry down is like caramel popcorn on my skin!!! Olya’s description is spot on and absolutely as good as the fragrance itself is!!

I have a sweet tooth so I love trying desserts but the best one is an ube cheesecake a guy in LA makes and it’s bringing tears to my eyes just thinking about how rich and flavorful it is!!

Great review! I love all the ties to food, except now I’m terribly hungry. I’ve wanted to try Xerjoff for a while and this sounds lovely! In Indiana, USA.

  • Oh this sounds wonderful
Love gourmand fragrances and Lira in particular
I am glad the saffron makes it less sweet

  • kramerongo says:

Italica sound like very good sweet Italian cake and most likely smells like that to.I liked the review about the Toffe and the other ingredients. It will be my favorite dessert with dark bourbon vanilla. I am in CA USA

  • Jmmcmenamin says:

I love Xerjoff, and I love any fragrance with almond in it. This is one I’ve been wanting to try!
I actually don’t favor almond desserts though. I love a good chocolate mousse cake. In Louisiana, USA.

  • Gabriel Garcia says:

Loved the review, Olya says there will be no left willpower left once the scrumptious caramel arrives, that really tickled me, since my favorite desserts is Tiramisu.

  • twiggy3634 says:

I like that Olya’s review is so descriptive that I could almost taste a pastry in my mouth. Now I’m craving my favorite dessert, which is a peanut butter cheesecake topped with chocolate ganache. Cheers from Indiana, USA.

  • Like Olya’s review, I have read about Italica being quite a gourmandy fragrance and also the one with a very prominent almond note. My fav. dessert may be cheesecake. I am in US.

  • Thank you, Olya! This is a wonderful review! The sheer pleasure of experiencing Xerjoff’s Italica is beautiful to read! ❤️ I would love to win!
Gourmand fragrances are such a moving target for me (savory or sweet? Oriental or Fruity Floral, perhaps both? etc). At the same time, gourmand fragrances connect most with my background in wine & fine dining. When I read your lovely notes, I think of a woody bourbon that has been given extra time in oak barrels. From what I read on CaFleureBon, Sergio Momo is exacting in his quality standards for perfume materials. I would love to sample this scent! My favorite decadent dessert (this week) is key lime cheesecake. Thank you for this opportunity. I live in the USA.

  • NikkoNikko says:

I’ve been wanting to try a sample of this but I can’t find one! I like how Olya made a point to speak about how saltiness and woodsy/smoky notes balance things out. I was wondering how full on sweet it would be. I have and love Lira, so I know Xerjoff has a touch with gourmands. Now if I can only get a fresh pecan pie frag! Thank you for the great read and chance to win, from Idaho USA

  • Amanda32828 says:

I don’t know what I like most about this review, the review itself or the picture of the almondy mouth watering dessert posted here. This fragrance really sound like something delicious, even the notes sound delicious. I’ll love to own a bottle of this. Thank you for posting Olya. Commenting from Orlando, Florida.

  • AleksCipri says:

Oh Olya why did you write such a delicious review! I will have to eat something sweet now, but I’ll be sad that I don’t have anything that is even remotely close to how I imagine Italica would taste like if it was a real sweet that one could eat -” a glossy, and miniature cake garnished with whipped cream and candied almond. ” I’m from Illinois, US.

I have to admit, I’m drooling right now
I’m not familiar with Italica, but just because of the quote , I’m so eager to try it.
One of my the first niche purchases was Lira early 2012. Good old days, being a true noob in the niche world. To this day I consider Xerjoff top 5 niche brands ever, VERY few people would deny that , I believe.
The best Xerjoff fragrances are Cruz del Sur II , followed by Golden Dallah and then comes my old love Lira. I have a great feeling about Italica, let’s see.
Favorite decadent dessert ? Easy – chocolate tarts with fig jam.
Thank you Olya , Cafleurebon and Europerfumes

This sounds like it has everything a non-chocolate gourmand fragrance should have. Yet Olya’s description makes it sound un-fussy, unpretentious and down-to-earth, as evidenced in her sentence “Xerjoff Italica is served with a glass of cold milk in an otherwise cozy Italian bakery that fills the entire street with the most delicious scents of pastries, cakes and treats.” My favorite decadent dessert is cafe liegois, that simple but super concoction of coffee ice cream, whipped cream, and chocolate coffee-bean candies. In the USA, in NC.

  • ThatMulattoDude says:

Really enjoyed the writeup on this fragrance by Olya…I want to eat at this pastry shop, hahaha! I’ve heard many reviewers describe this juice as the best gourmand ever created. I would like to confirm that assertion, hope to win this fragrance. Appreciate the offer of the giveaway! Best from Virginia, USA!

  • Almond milk is my favorite. Gourmand fragrances are the best, I love smelling like a snack lol. My absolute favorite dessert is Pecan Pie.

  • At first, I thought that this might be too sweet, but when Olya described the salty, roughly textured “crust” and the slightly smoky woodsy base, I changed my mind. Plus, having tried Lira, I know that Xerjoff does a great job with gourmands. As far as desserts, I can’t name just one. A perfect gelato sounds good right now. I’m in the US.

  • Italica is one of the best almond fragrances and this review describes it beautifully. I’m now craving an almond pastry. From CA, USA

  • Italica sounds amazing. I enjoyed how Olya explained it as a desert. It does sound mouthwatering. I have a small decant of it I was given im going to try it asap was kind of saving it for a moment but this really made me want to try it! As for a decadent dessert I’m not sure of any but I do love sweets. Thanks for the generous draw. From CT USA.

  • roxhas1cat says:

Oh Olya you have described my best dream. Pastries!! My favorite bakery in town is St. Honore (I didn’t know the patron saint connection….cool). The saffron note is quite interesting to me, keeping it from being too sweet I am sure. I love most desserts, especially the Frangapine tart with apricots and ground almonds. Sometimes I just like a simple custard. The bottle is so gorgeous with that iridescent red. wow…..just wow. Tomorrow I shall bake something fabulous. Thanks for the chance. USA.

  • Jennifer Hopkins says:

Everything I needed to know was summed up in “Italian bakery”. This review informs me that I can get lost in hours of cozy sweet scent. My favorite dessert is a tie between Caramel Budino and Sfogliatella. Deliziosa!

  • constancesuze says:

I enjoyed Olya’s evocation of gourmandise 😉 both olfactory and gustatory. In spite of living in France for a few years, I think my favorite decadent dessert would have to be tiramisu.

  • Wow. What an amazing sounding fragrance. I would love to smell this on my wife. Specifically the “creamy toffee-covered almonds” notes. My favorite dessert has to be tiramisu. USA

  • sugar is a drug and I’m in love with it. this perfume sounds like pure addiction. i’ve never tried Italica but have to get my hands on a sample. Just gorgeous. <3 i live in the United States

  • Very interesting review! Almonds and milk can go so horribly wrong in a scent, especially on me. I’d love to see how this works on me. My favorite decadent dessert is black forest cake. I am in the US.

  • Delllllllicious. I found that scent of skin with traces of flour in the drydown description rather interesting! Haven’t heard it described like that before. But legit, the entire paragraph made me drool. Thanks Olya. 😛 I’ll skip the cold milk! According to some, a quintessential gourmand fragrance. Favourite decadent dessert – blueberry pastry with raspberry sauce, powdered sugar and a caramel drizzle. Freshly ground black coffee mandatory. My compliments to the chef. MI, USA

  • Bryant Worley says:

I thought Olya’s review was excellent, and when she said that fantasizing about desserts was akin to lovemaking for some, it reminded me of a movie (so long ago I can’t remember the title), where they were consuming desserts as foreplay, with all the facial expressions and sounds to go with that.

Anyhoo, Olya’s description of the fragrance was what I found interesting about the review: “Warm and full-bodied Italica opens with luscious creamy almonds and milk; a pinch of saffron adds a much-needed counterpoint to the sweetness. Bake the whole composition on sandalwood enveloped by dark bourbon vanilla and you get a decadent rich gourmand that speaks of opulence, arousing senses and our imagination. It highlights the most side of sensual side of gastronomy, the pleasure of a delicious dessert as a perfect finale to a memorable meal.”

I don’t have a favorite decadent dessert, as I am pretty basic when it comes to desserts only indulging in rich desserts every blue moon.

I live in Waldorf, MD, USA.

  • Julesinrose says:

What did I like about the review? The description of this heavenly dessert! Yum! I like sweet gourmands, so I will probably enjoy this. I am not actually keen on “decadent desserts” though I like their look, creativity and aroma. I prefer very plain desserts like shortbread and Italian butter cookies!! In Maine, USA

  • glowquest_ says:

Olya I loved this review, I’m a sucker for gourmands and Italica has been one I have been savoring my little sample of. You described it perfectly, the creamy toffee covered almonds on the textured crust, the soft woodsy musk it leaves behind. Such gorgeous photos and words. I love a good banana cheesecake but will give pretty much any decadent dessert a good go! NY, USA thank you for the chance!

  • This review made me very hungry! I like many decadent desserts, but my favorite one is very simple: a well-made chocolate mousse. Luckily, I also like gourmand scents. I’m in Oklahoma, USA. Thanks, as always, for the draw!

  • LightOfJoy says:

Olya’s review had my mouth watering and the pictures were a reflection of the fragrance’s richness and decadence.

My favorite dessert is Tiramisu, my own version.

    I live in Texas, USA.

  • I found this review absolutely delectable! Xerjoff Italica sounds so delicious and wearable…Almonds, toffee, sandalwood and vanilla…what more could anyone want. And of course, I have a favorite decadent dessert…among many I love pastries with almond filling and crispy toffee almonds baked on top…we call them Bearclaws in the US as they are shaped somewhat reminiscent of a bears paw. I am in the US and I surely appreciate the chance!

  • Natalia306 says:

My favorite decadent dessert is Italian Panettone bread soaked in amaretto and cream. It is very milky/lactonic, nutty, and a little spicy. It’s definitely giving off holiday vibes and is making me think of being at a Christmas party in July! Olya’s description of Xerjoff Italica absolutely delightful, delicious presentation, beautiful pictures too! Thank you for a wonderful chance to celebrate Christmas in July with Italica from Xerjoff. USA

  • redwheelbarrow says:

I love your description of the crunch. It’s such an interesting way to describe a perfume but I understand exactly what you’re getting at. This is a wonderful review and I really feel like I can smell everything you are describing. I love Xerjoff and would love to own a bottle of this beauty. Thank you for the draw. I’m in the USA.

  • Beautiful review, Olya !! Always like your descriptions.
Love this milky, almond, spicy gourmand beauty.

I love gourmand perfumes very much and Olya’s “ideal balance between crunchy almond cookie and buttery milky smoothness” promise me new love.

This perfume with caramelized almond, milk and cake sounds gourmand lover heaven!!!
I would like to have this perfume.

  • I loved Olya’s review of italica! And don’t know if I want to eat it or spray it all over me as it sounds delicious the bottle is stunning as well. Thanks for the review and providing the opportunity to win it.

  • Almond cookies are my favorite. Italica sounds delicious! Thanks for another great review and generous draw! Mich USA

  • Olfactory desserts are the easiest way to indulge! Olya’s review of Italica sounds positively scrumptious and I like that there’s a contrast to the sweetness with the milk and the almonds and the smoke. My favorite decadent dessert is creme brulee. So rich and so good! I live in the USA. Thanks for the giveaway!

  • I appreciated learning about this fragrance. I haven’t tried any Xerjoff fragrances yet, but I’d like to try, at least, most of them. It sounds like this fragrance is an excellent-smelling gourmand fragrance and I’d like to try it. I like many different desserts, e.g. I love German Chocolate cake. I live in MD., U.S.A.

  • Olya made this sound like a well-balanced gourmand with the saffron and sandalwood touches to balance the sweet/laconic notes. I have an unrelenting sweet tooth and this sounds gorgeous. Thanks for the review and the draw. I’m in the US.

  • “the timeless Mefisto”

Well said, Mefisto is indeed timeless
Quality with Xerjoff fragrances is through the roof , and Italica is no exception.
Balanced crunchy almond cookie, milkiness , saltiness to balance the fragrance, slightly smoky base , Italica sounds so impressive
I’ve sampled a few Xerjoff fragrances last two months,Nio ,Agusta , Golden Dallah , Accento Overdose , and Amabile-one of my my latest acquisitions. There’s some sweetness, but I don’t believe it’s a gourmand , to me it’s more tart , juicy, and spicy. The opening is mouthwatering, one of the best openings I’ve smelled. Amabile is now in my top 2 Xerjoff fragrances, number one still being Mefisto.
I can’t say it’s decadent, but I love Chocolate Raspberry Cake.
Exquisite giveaway , thanks Olya , and Europerfumes

  • Michael Prince says:

I loved Olya’s review of Xerjoff Italica. I am a huge fan of gourmand fragrances and this fragrance has been on my wishlist for quite some time. Olya beautifully described all the inner workings of this vanillic, lactonic, sweet, spicy, and nutty dessert. My favorite decadent dessert would have to be Tiramisu. I am from the USA.

  • This sounds like a scrumptiously beautiful perfume. I enjoyed the way that Olya’s descriptions were so directly scintillating and intriguing while describing the fragrance. A favorite dessert that I occasionally am happy to savor a slice or three of would be German chocolate cake. I am in Illinois, USA, and would appreciate being entered into this giveaway. Thank you!

  • The way Oyla wrote this review like a recipe is brilliant. Very enjoyable! I have yet to try a Xerjoff fragrance. In my area of the states it isn’t something we have in stores and I really want to see and hold them before I buy. Maybe on my next trip to the big city! I have heard so many reviews on Xerjoff fragrances but Italcia with its almond note sounds right up my alley. Thanks to Europerfumes for the giveaway. My favorite decadent dessert would have to be carrot cake. ;). In the USA.

  • IvanVelikov says:

The new hype train Italica is here 🙂
Ideally balanced crunchy almond , toffee , cozy musky drydown , and made by Xerjoff?
Italica sounds truly awesome, sophisticated high end gourmand , and I believe I’d feel in good spirits while wearing it
For going out , and personal satisfaction I’m happy to have have Lira , my favorite Xerjoff, up until now. Amabile now is my second favorite, and my third favorite is a tie between Cavour I and Dolce Amalfi.
Blueberries white chocolate cheesecake is my favorite dessert ever
Beautiful giveaway , thanks a lot Olya and Europerfumes
    USA

  • Come on Olya, I’m on a diet….
Italica is fragrance with a character, that has a lot of layers, almond, caramel, saffron with heavy lactonic undertones , top gourmand . Something to be expected of all Xerjoff gourmands of course.
Naxos and La Capitale are my favorite Xerjoff beauties , and Banana Caramel Pie is my guilty pleasure
    Thanks for the draw

    Now we’re talking,
Italica review was such a pleasure to read , awesome job Olya .
What impresses me the most is different facets set up by the perfumer. Italica is not one dimensional gourmand, there’s also smoke, saffron , milky sandalwood, musk. Posh fragrance at its best.
We all need such fragrances in our lives.
Summer nights, on a walk with classy lady, such situations I think will suit Italica the best.
Untouchables and Eliot Ness I’m thinking every time I’m wearing Xerjoff fragrance. I like so many , my favorites are Casamorati Lira and Opera. Italica anf Amabile are now first on my wish list.
Ever since I was a kid, my favorite dessert is
coconut chocolate cake , some things will never change.
    Overly exciting giveaway, USA
    Regards

  • I love how Olya paints this fragrance as a buttery cookie, pastry decedent dessert. A scent that fills the Paris streets with its aroma, I love gourmand dessert fragrances, such a yummy review for a yummy fragrance that I would love to try. My favorite dessert is Chocolate cake, death by chocolate. I live in the USA.

  • WaltherP99 says:

Italica is photorealistic gourmand , in my opinion made exceptionally well. Like Olya said, it truly smells like you’re sitting in some super fancy Italian coffee shop/bakery and you’re enjoying the smell of your milky almonds, and safran dessert in front of you.
On my skin Italica is rather linear fragrance, performance is really good. Slightly woody base is there, but unlike Olya, I don’t get saltiness and smokiness at all.
If you’re like me, and you have a sweet tooth, you’ll be heads over heals for Italica. Try it guys , samples and available now.
Plum is my favorite fruit, and also note in perfumery, Chocolate plum cake i adore.

The best Casamorati, the best Xerjoff , and one of the best gourmands ever is called … Italica. Smells very, and I mean very similar to Toffee Almond Cake (traditional recipe) , famous Italian cake. I’m 99% sure the cake was the inspiration behind Italica.
I’m traditionally trained in Paris Pastry Chef, and it’s really rare for me to get impressed so much by gourmand fragrance, considering well over 80% of my big collection is comprised by gourmands. Italica is special, I really mean it.
I can’t pinpoint one favorite “decadent dessert” , it’s like asking a parent “what’s your favorite child?” . For the sake of the theme, I’d say Toffee Almond Cake .
Appreciate the review, and the giveaway campaign
I’m going back to US from my long vacation, in ~2 weeks time , I’ll be grateful if you allow me to enter.

  • Wow that review made my mouth water for real. Sounds divine and the pictures made me run out to grab ice cream! I’m a big fan of gourmands and have yet to sample this gem. Great review, I’m from the US, MN.

I couldn’t possibly pick one decadent dessert to call a favorite, but I love her description of the notes and the perfume and how it smells so delicious. In the USA.
